BEWARE!!!!! Please choose another company PLEASE!!!! I wish I could give these cons a 0 star. They are really that bad, honestly. I was told I could transfer the contract to the new owner, in the event I sold the home. Well that's not the truth. Today, I mentioned I was selling the home. I was told I owed $1500 on the remainder of contract and $500 on equipment. I don't recall signing a 3 year contract, yet to have me pay for services I am not receiving is robbery. I then asked if I could transfer the services to the new owner since I'm being forced to pay $1500 for services I am not going to be receiving. I was told NO, the transfer can only take place in the case of a dead spouse! So, basically they are wanting the new owners to sign a new 3 year contact. This should be outlawed. I am planning to warn the new owners about ADT and recommend that they use another company. These people are unscrupulous cons. I will NEVER EVER use them again, mark my word.

Had ADT FOR OVER 20 years. Never had issue. So fire 20 years I have an issue and they seem like we'll get to it in a few days.

ADT customer Service is the worst. Yes even worse than a utility. I have been a commercial customer for 3 years. 17 min initial hold time to someone who could not help. To be on hold for another 22 mins to someone else that was clueless. To transfere me to a third party I have now been on hold for a total of 1 hour and 3 mins. The worst I am looking for other options. Do not use ADT.

I've had my ADT system for almost 11 years! ADT has horrible service and horrible customer service. I've had many problems with window sensors. They install faulty refurbished equipment. They have lazy technicians. They love to set up virtual appointments! I'm not a technician. This is your faulty equipment! They charge for technicians to come out! I strongly discourage anyone from doing business with ADT!!

Worst company ever! I had ADT Pro. When I moved I called them to ask what was my next step to follow and they told me to call them when I was at my new place. When I did they basically told me that if I opened a new account I was going to receive everything new and that my contract and equipments were going to be waived. This morning I woke up with -$350.82 for the equiment that they told me to leave behind. So I told them that I was going to go to my old address and remove the equipment they told me I couldn't do that. That the equipment belonged to the address even though I paid for it. And that I had to pay for the month of Oct even though I canceled my services in Sept because the request didn't go thru the first time I called. And that I had to keep receiving notifications from my old address until Nov (basically knowing when the other people left or activated service). They refuse to give me back my $350.82

I am on my 6th call to talk to a manager. The 4 case managers, who were men should be retrained or even fired for the way my calls were handled. They lacked the people skills and professionalism that should be a requirement for this job.
Last week I was on board to upgrade my adt blue system to a adt pro with Google cameras just si I can see whos walking up to my door and by my vehicles. The blue cameras are absolutely terrible! Don't waste your money if you want to identify who's on your property. All they are good for is catching the backside of the trespassers. The only thing adt cares about is what they get monthly. And, not be accountable for the poor equipment and service and why someone would want out of this contract. All i want is a good working system and then pay for that service.
This treatment is now effecting my health.
I've talked to tech support over a handfull of times. Every time I got nowhere. Now I want to end my contract for reasons of falure to address my concern with faulty camera's. They have been told of my long delays (15 to 25 minutes)before a notification has been sent to me. When I view the cameras event, I only get to see the person leaving, which leaves my safty and property at risk. Nothing has done to resolve this issue. This shows the lack of concern by ADT, their equipment, my safety and my peace of mind.

It was two out of the six calls that were answered by women, and those two women understood my frustration and apologized for the way I was treated. Thank you Kayla and Keyonna for vailadating my anger and concerns I have by the way my situationwas handled. All I would have to say about that is, I hope adt show their appreciation by increased pay acknowledging this service and how they want to represent the company.

This company has the mpst debilitating and wrongful customer service! Called to inquire my contract early termination fee and was told $633 dollars versus $175 from the original rep that got me into this useless service! After finding out the outrageous fee I asked about 2 cameras upgrade for indoor and outdoor (since Xfinity offered me 2 cameras, 5 window sensors, main motion sensor, lock pad and home screen monitoring device for only $45 per month ) and these "reps" transferred me 3 times and to useless woman who just disconnected the call! I had been on hold for more than 25 minutes after the 2nd rep put me on hold to find "offers" for me! Horrible experience, will NEVER recommend this service!

I acquired a new IPhone and called ADT for assistance in setting up their app for remote usage of the system. I was told that my system would not work on my IPhone and I'd have to upgrade my security system at the cost of hundreds of dollars. I said NO and asked to just disconnect me from ADT

I did get the system disconnected and went with another provider. I then got a charge of $318 for disconnecting to a system that they readily admit that I cannot use

What a crock, Additionally, they were quite rude to me when I told them to disconnect I was forced to pay because they threatened to turn me over to a collection agency

Had a service technician come change my elderly mother's batteries, the tech was very rude , unprofessional..I was shocked when I got there with his attitude. In the past we've never had any problems. He didn't even check the system before he left. I hope this doesn't happen again

Worst customer service experience I have ever encountered. After I was fed up trying to get system repaired, I decided to cancel my service completely. The whole thing took five hours. Don't sign a contract with this company at all costs!

The worst home service provider ever experienced. Having placed on hold for over an hour is normal for this company. Cannot get someone to reset password for Pulse app. Was not able to get someone on phone immediately to turn off the alarm at the middle of the night. I have been trying to cancel via phone and email to no avail. email gets returned. Phone - I get run around, being unreasonably only hold for two hours or until my phone battery is out.

We have been trying since April to get your company to send the correct battery pack for my mom's battery backup on her ADT Security System. Her backup uses a 5 pack AAA. It is a 6V AAA 800 mAh. It has 5 AAA batteries. ADT keeps sending her A 6 pack AA. This is totally unacceptable that you can't get it right. She has received twice the wrong battery packs and now it is my understanding they have the third 6 pack of AA in transit to her address. I spoke with a representative today and she assured me she would be sending the correct batteries. I don't feel very confident that I will be receiving the right one. I would like some feedback on this issue.

Absolutely the most awful customer service... It took 20 days to get to someone who understood that I needed a replacement keypad to one that was shipped to me defective...
The only person that made sense and could help me was a very kind person called Eva but it took 20 days to get to her only after I decided enough is enough and I'm canceling. Everyone else was useless, which the ratings are directed towards...

We have been ADT customer for 12 years and bc of age and income change can not afford it anymore. When I called to cancel they said we would have to pay cancellation fee bc we are under contract. We signed a 5 year contract 12 years ago and I have asked them to prove we have signed or agreed to another contract which they haven't bc we didn't. Recieved a bill today for $182.12 which I do not intend to pay without proving I am under contract. Bad business!!

I really liked ADT. But when it came time to cancel after years of service, they simply won't let me. They insist it has to be a phone call, but I'm seldom able to get a person and when I do they just put me on hold. You will be stuck paying for them indefinitely. The only way to avoid this is not to allow them in your home in the first place.

This company refused to cancel my service despite being outside of the contract window. I had to make 4 different attempts to cancel my monitoring services over the course of 10 months. They continued to charge me and each attempt was met with incompetent reps that seemed to be reading from prompt cards instead of helping me with the issue. Long conversations with redirection and excuses on why they can't do anything with reassurances that this time it will be different. Once the company actually cancelled my service I was told I needed to pay 95$ to bring everything current and it would be done. No. 4 months later I receive a collection notice for $85. ADT will continue to charge you and there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. There's no action you can take. If you are currently a customer then when you go to cancel don't do it over the phone. Do it over email so there is a paper trail and you can substantiate your claim. I lost over $700 to this company plus several $25 returned payment charges due to someone changing my account information after my first cancelation attempt. I just paid the collection and pray this is over.

Our residence in Great Falls, VA was destroyed by a fire in late June 2019. The system was installed in late 2000 by the original owners and we continued the ADT monitoring service and maintenance when we purchased the home and system in 2004. We were assured by the ADT Security System LLC representatives, who installed the alarm system, our system was excellent and required no upgrades. During their infrequent visits to repair defective sensor zones, they provided repeated assurances and did not suggest any upgrades. They did not suggest installation of heat sensors in the garage or kitchen as recommend by Fairfax County Fire Department, which would have detected the fire that broke out in an electric socket in the wall that adjoins the garage and kitchen vanity. They did not visit annually to physically check the alarm system as reportedly required by Fairfax County code. The single ADT smoke detector was in the main hallway of our house (no ADT smoke sensors on the other three levels), about thirty feet from where the fire originated. I detected smoke billowing from beneath the garage door at 9 PM from the master bathroom window on the second floor. Telephone records provided by ADT indicated they received the smoke alarm warning at 9:17:48 PM, estimated to be 45 - 60 min after the fire started. ADT Central Monitoring Center contacted the Fairfax County Police/Fire Center at 9:19:30 PM. The ADT panic button I pushed at 9 PM to alert ADT failed to work (the land line telephone was operating). My spouse and I watched the fire destroy our house from an ambulance while fire fighters from multiple county fire departments attempted to extinguish the fire. Copies of the installation contract and the monitoring service contract were destroyed in the fire. ADT Inc. nor its subsidiary, ADT Security Systems LLC, Springfield, VA, would not provide copies of the contracts, likely because of their concern to avoid a lawsuit. My letter of complaint to the ADT President, Mr. James DeVries, was also ignored. Although our insurance company paid for the loss of the house and a portion of the personal property, the latter coverage was insufficient to cover the total loss of personal property. I view the ADT television commercials as very deceptive, conveying a false sense of security to prospective clients. My best advice is for prospective clients to avoid ADT Inc. and its subsidiary, ADT LLC (dba ADT Security Systems LLC), at all costs and obtain services from more reputable companies that provide fire and burglary systems and monitoring services.

Thieves! Sales traps! rigid contracts!

1. I was told by the Sales agent that I can cancel my service within 30 days, but I signed on the contract on an ipad screen (cant read 9 pages on ipad), it was 3 days. Hence, they didnt let me cancel when I called after around 20 days.

2. The installation guy told me that I can add / remove sensors or services as I like whereas the ADT customer care tells me that I can only go up, not down.

3. The sales agent also told me that I will get $200 gift card, which I never got and when I tried talking to the customer care, they said they don't see any gift card promised on my profile.

Complete trap to get a customer into a 5 year contract. I am trapped, hope this help y'all to stay away from ADT.

Not have had camera usage for 2 days. Unable to receive notifications especially emails in months. Adt pulse appears to be dated technology. Poor customer service. I've been a customer for 20 years or longer, their service has gone down. Strongly considering changing

From day one of ADT coming out and installing their "NEW" alarm system we have had nothing but problems, we can't drop anything, place a nail in our walls, God forbid we make a loud noise the fire alarm goes off, we can't even set out security alarm when we're gone because it goes off when our fur babies move around. We have tried to call and get a technician on the phone, that's impossible, if we're not told we can only talk to a technician after 7 p.m., we're told to run some test, while we're talking to someone reading off of a script, we have been hung up on the last 3 times we have called, we're tired of walking on pins and needles due to lack of qualified professionals employed there. If we could cancel the contract without paying we would, at this point our alarm system is useless.
DO NOT GET AN ADT Alarm system those people are thieves, there has to be something we can do about them ???????

Trying to leave a review for everyone interested. I'm a service plumber by trade and live by customer service. ADT has fallen short in every aspect, my camper was broken into and the motion sensor camera pointing directly at my camper had ZERO recordings for 5 months. Paying 60 a month for my family to feel safe in our home. Customer services will always say a supervisor is always not available and If you want to cancel it took over an hour of waiting on hold to speak with someone, only to find out to cancel for their services not working I have to pay over $400. They could care less. Look into other options if you want a company and read all reviews which I didn't do because I was in a hurry. I completely regret signing up and and honestly I'm willing to pay 400 so they won't receive the extra 200 to finish out the 3 year contract which is outrageous to begin with. I never leave reviews. I just wanted to cancel peacefully and call it good with the damages done to my camper ( I have theft protection ) how long will that even take. Hopefully this reaches the right people. There are a TON of better options. I will certainly be shopping elsewhere. Literally the main reason people get security is to feel safe and protect what is theirs. 5 months of no footage? I'm out

I want to comment on the service Technician, Melvin Ortiz, on the very professional manner in which he fixed our problem. The problem was with module for turning the lamp on and off. He not replaced the module but help educate us on the use. I do hope if we ever have a service problem again Melvin is sent to our home for the repair. We had two older ADT smoke detectors replaced today with new wireless models. Our service technician was Chris Hinand out of Punta Gorda Florida. He did an excellent job of careful, clean installation. He also took considerable time to explain the workings of the new system that we had installed several weeks before.
We would like to thank him for his stellar service and would like to make sure that his supervisor, Linda Coite, is aware of his going the extra mile.

The ADT technician who serviced my equipment today was very patient and knowledgeable. I am trying to get used to The pulse system and didn't understand how it works and he was very patient and explained every aspect of my new system . Thank you Bruce Borden for a job well done !

On Friday, July 15, 2016, we were to have a Service Technician from ADT. We were told when he would arrive,and we actually received a phone call from him, Chris Hinand, asking if he could come a few minutes earlier which made us very happy. We have had many service calls from other Florida businesses either being late or not even showing up at all. He put on his shoe covers and went right to work. Within minutes, he figured out the solution to our problem (low battery) and also explained the many symbols in our control box which had never been explained before. After visiting with him,he identified another problem that we didn't even know we had. We had switched our land line to a box which is voice over inner-net, which we now know would not work with our security system. He suggested we get a wireless connection to the monitoring center.It would be necessary to have another service call. Instead, he called his manager and got permission to do the installation himself, which we appreciated very much. Therefore, our original problem was resolved and a problem we didn't know even existed has been solved. Naturally, we are very happy with ADT and if needed, we know we can depend on Chris to solve whatever needs to be solved and then some.Thank you, ADT & Chris Hinand.

I recently had an entry password problem. The technician eho came out was Chris Hinand and I was thoroughly amazed. His troubleshooting procedures wereunbelievable. He analyzed the problem and had my system back on line in less than 10 minutes. He took the extra effort to expolain why this service interupion occured and how he corrected it.This technician is a definite positive asset to ADT. Albert Kasakowski,Msgt,USAF, Retired. Everyone at ADT was friendly and very helpful I cancelled at least 3 times and they rescheduled me without any hassle everytime.My system was installed professionally with courtesy by Richard Victor he was very polite and knowledgeable and patient with me when explaining how the equipment works.Overall a pleasant experience.

First off...i am an ADT tech. As i read through the various complaints i knew i had to say something. One...9 times out of 10 the "sales rep" who came to your home doesnt work for ADT, they sell our equipment but dont work for us, so yeah they can promise you the world, take your money and then 90 days later we are stuck to service your alarm system. Two...dont whine and complain about the service fees. you have the chance to pay the extra 4 or 5 bucks a month on your contract that covers your entire system except batteries, but you want to be cheap so that when something breaks and it costs 100 or 200 bucks, you dont want to pay to fix it, plus the labor charges..all would have been covered for that extra 40 to 50 per year. Three...due to storms, equip shortages, hurricanes and the numerous weather pattern we have had over the last year or two, items do sometimes need to be ordered..and are on back order. you need to have a little patience...remember you are but one out of 20 million who could be experiencing the same issue and shipments from manufacture warehouses can take time, not to mention if there is a shortage on the material to make your device. Four...when you call in for service, you speak to a person, not a tech...9 times out of 10 they have no idea what is wrong with your system. All they know is you are caling and yelling and being rude yourself and saying this is making this noise or that noise...they arent techs...we are...so they will try to schedule a tech to come out to your home as soon as they can...ive seen back logs for 2 to 3 weeks. again patience. Five... yeah you are going to pay extra if you have verizon, then switch your phone carrier to comcast or cox or whatever...thats of your doing...meaning the system didnt fail, you chose to switch phone providers so they cut our line to the system...not us. And you can say all you want about how it wasnt them etc...i cant tell you how many jobs ive been one, where the new phone provider has cut, hacked or literally chopped off our wires...and oh, its never them. Six...3 year contracts are the norm..and are standard with ADT. i have done some 2 yr contracts as well, but it comes with a service rider as well. Its your fault as well if you dont ask..im sure you wouldnt go buy a car or house and not know the terms of that contract now would you? Seven....you are getting charged what you signed for..nothing more, nothing less...if you pay 30 bucks a month, than thats whats being deducted or billed give or take taxes, etc every month. it is complete bs that i read in here that "yeah they are charging me double a month" or "im paying more than agreed etc.." look at your bill people, and look at your contract. sometimes people do make mistakes...and thats what numbers are for to call to correct them. Eight....for the lady who said that ADT employees are not back ground checked...lady you have bumped your head..cause we all are checked..thouroughly by the state in which we work. Not only do i have a top secret clearance from the army, but i have a dcjs card as well...(department of criminal justice services) same card cops and all other people working in the field carry. they check everything trust me. your driving record is checked as well, and if its bad you cant work for ADT. No one is perfect. No one, but ADT is hands down the best alarm company period...or else how would we be around since 1947?, have over 20 million customers world wide? have government contracts for airports, the pentagon and other government offices world wide? so the next time you want to complain, fine do it...but realize that not everyone is as bad or rude or disrespectful as you claim...most are hard working dedicated workers interested in protecting you, your loved ones, your valuables, your peace of mind...everything you cherish and hold dear. People at ADT do care, and alot of us bust our hump everyday to make sure that you are protected.

Though I am ADT employee I do tend to agree with some of the complaints that I have read. Some for reasons I think I know and others for reasons I feel I do. Overall , I feel the most important aspect is good customer relationships , and overall customer satisfaction. I do agree this has declined more over the last few years due to the tremendous growth of ADT accounts through purchases , buyouts , etc... and the dramatic downsizing of ADT employees nationwide for obvious reasons. I can sympathize with our customers displeasure and all of the issues they have with ADT , because I am an employee and I know what our customers are expressing is not just isolated circumstances. I am doing everything I can , as well as my co-workers everyday to take ownership and responsibility as we should to make the best situation possible for you. I take great pride in my job , and it is very important to me when I read , and/or hear anything negatively affecting our customers.
