I had a stroke , submitted all the documents they asked for , never heard anything from them , was out of work for 3months . They finally sent me a letter saying they needed to see if it was a prexsisting condition. Two weeks later they sent me a letter saying it wasn't a disability, I could not believe what I was reading . Call them they tell me to appeal it , lord why do they take your money faithfully but find ways not to pay u when u need them . I think it's time for an attorney .

Aflac just denied a legitimate Critical Illness claim on behalf of my wife. I have a high power top law Firm ready to file a Class Action Law suit. I just need two more people here in California.

Not the same company as it was before. I spent 5 days in ICU for an accident, I have been waiting almost : months for my bebfit payment. They continue to tell me to give them more time.

An ACH for Aflac came out of my checking account. I don't have Aflac. I was assured by two Aflac customer service representatives that I do or they wouldn't be taking it out. I assume it is just a checking account number typo but their absolute insistence that I do have an account and lack of interest in helping me is frustrating. I was provided a fax number for the ACH Department but I have since found out it will 14 or more days before they get back to me. My bank has said they need to close the account immediately due to fraud. I was hoping to figure it out with Aflac so I could keep from closing my current account but apparently that wont be happening. Because of their mistake and lack of interest in helping I now have to open a new account, order new checks, new debit cards and spend who knows how long moving all my direct withdrawals and deposits to a new account.

Until this incident had a neutral to good opinion of the company but it is now negative. I understand mistakes happen but their inability and lack of interest in helping me is astounding and where my frustration comes from.


By the way, when you are on hold and they tell you it will be 3 to 5 minutes before a customer service representative will be with you they mean 35. I called twice and it was experience both times. It is also near impossible to get through without a policy, provider or employer number. Obviously, not everyone that calls customer service can provide this information.

I submitted a claim for my accident they keep asking for the same document over and over. you cant reach no one in the claim department. and when they call you back it no one from the claim department this is the worst company ever.

I have had 3 policies with Aflac for 20+ years. This year I was hospitalized three times, had two surgeries, 2 ct scans, 2 ultrasounds, multiple xrays, labs and meds given. I sent in the claim, waited 3 weeks to call to check the status of the claim I was told they needed a UB04 form, I submitted that, tok them another 3 weeks to even look at my claim. When I called to check the status they tell me I was only being issued a $200 check. They claim my hospital stays were "obervation" when I was hospitalized for 3 days the first time and 5 days the second time. Clearly not observation. They did not pay for any of my surgeries or any of the diagnostic testing I had done. TOTAL PIECE OF GARBAGE NOW!! They just take your money and do not care about anything else! was out of work for 2 weeks and thought this would help, NOT! I WILL BE CANCELING ALL OF MY POLICIES WITH THEM. TOTAL PIECE OF GARBAGE THEY ARE NOW!!!!!

Oh my after reading this I realized Aflac is a bad faith company I am in a similar situation with Aflac I'm watching them stall me out constantly asking for the same documents over and over again but they can be sued for bad faith emotional distress breach of contract

CT Paid started 1/2022. I submitted my paperwork for intermittent leave for a chronic condition that I was already on FMLA for. My approval was for a year and AFLAC approved me for 3 months?! Meanwhile, they approved my husband for a year for migraines. They assigned me a case manager who was on leave the whole time without telling me until my last week of coverage. We are going on month 5 and I'm trying to process an extension and I still haven't spoken to a case manager. I filed a new claim, when I didn't have to, to get an extension. I wrote a message to my new case manager about the information I've been requesting and how disappointing it is that I can't get my needs addressed by ANYONE. I begged him to call me or at least respond. He called me at 7 am, left a message with no call back number or extension. I called back and the customer care advocate texted him to see if he was available because it showed he wasn't in the office yet. Keep in mind I called back an hour after he called me! He finally responds to her (his name is Issac A. and the one on leave was Victoria T.) and tells her to tell me that he will call me back and the turnaround time for him to respond is 2 business days. He refused to talk to me but proceeded to communicate about my case with her via text (for 30 minutes). I asked for a manager several times and asked for my case to be escalated and they told me no managers seem to be available at the moment. Isaac also tells her that my id docs on the site weren't clear enough and that I need to re-send it. After I explained that the docs were clear enough to approve my original claim, the customer care advocate agreed and said my license, passport, SS card and birth certificate was more than enough and were clear. She asked if she could call me back and I had no other choice but to acquiesce.
In the meantime, I'm working full time from home with a 2 year old and am being treated by many specialists to figure out why I am so sick. This company is absolute trash and should not be in service. How do you do this to hardworking people in need? This is disgusting and deplorable.

I've had Aflac for almost a year. I had to go on disability from work due to a back injury that caused me to loose the use of my left leg. Aflac online claim says that I'm not a customer even though I entered my policy number and certificate number. I called Aflac on the phone and requested a claim form to be mailed to me. Aflac still hasn't sent a claim form to and that's since October 2021. Needless to say I'm canceling this useless insurance once open enrollment starts. This is a piss-poor insurance company.

I've had AFLAC for years and have filed a claim for the first time only to find out that all they do is lie and try every way possible to cheat you out of what is owed to you. I promise you this I will tell everyone I know who is looking to get coverage from you to run. This was the worst lies and mistreatment ever. They claim they are there for you and that's the farthest from the truth. I'm going to the BBB,Attorney General,the news and anyone else who will listen. I'm sick that I told many people that you where a good company,boy was I wrong!!!! From now on I will tell them the truth if your company comes to them to sign up for your horrible policies RUN and don't look back. This is what happened to me after having several policies with them and trying to get them to help me the very first time I need to file a claim. My son works for a large company and he said AFLAC came there and he asked what do I think of you. I told him after the way I was treated don't even think about signing up with you company and let everyone else what happened to me so they won't get taken advantage of either.

I've had Aflac since 2017. The first hospitalization policy was cancelled by Aflac and I still haven't gotten the real reason as to the cancellation. The policy was paid monthly via autopay from its inception. They cancelled because the quarterly payment wasn't paid... I had three policies and they were all paid monthly via autopay from my checking account. The other policies were fine, but ironically the cancelled hospitalization policy is no longer offered.

So, I got a new hospitalization policy in August in 2019. I was hospitalized in October 2019. Aflac is refusing the claim, stating pre-existing condition from a March 2018 hospitalization for a different issue/ different body part. Additionally, their own exclusion states treatment for pre-existing must be 12 months prior to effective date of policy to be eligible for benefits payment.

2 separate issues is not a pre-existing condition, and March 2018 is 17 months prior to my August 2019 effective date and over 18 months prior to my October 2019 hospitalization date. Really disappointed with Aflac, filed an appeal which I expect to go nowhere. Looking into filing external complaints. Very shady to say the least. I do not recommend/ refer

Do Not Do Business With These People!!! Fair Warning! I Pay Over$200.00 That Has Been Automatically Deducted From My Checking Account For Over Two Years A Month On Premiums, I Submitted A Dental Claim Over Two Months Ago, And Am Still Getting Jerked Around, Then They Sent Me A Bill Instead Of Depositing My Money!!!!
To Make Matters Worse, My Husband Had A Heart Attack, Two Months Ago, We Are Still Getting Jerked Around With That Claim As Well!!!!
I'm Contacting An Attorney, And Suing For False Advertising, And Contacting The Insurance Commission.

After waiting a month being out of work due to tearing muscle in my knee, aflac has kiss to me and told me by Aug 4 i would be paid. I have not been able to work due to a knee injury. Now I fins out after them telling me they had all the paper work they needed ,now they need more. This company lies to you on the phone and just keeps pushing the date back. I can't work die to serious knee injury. I will be contacting a lawyer and the BBB and my local news station .

I had a hysterectomy on 12/8/17. And sent in my claims. Aflac denined my claim stating this was a pre-existing condition. Which it was not. My doctor sent in all the doctors notes and other paperwork showing it was not a pre-existing condition and they have contuined to denine my claim. I have appealed this and spoken to a supervisor. I don't understand why they won't pay me out the money I am owed. I feel like no one is even looking at my paperwork. It's one excuse after another. Aflac appears to be a very shady company. I am off work for 6 weeks and I'm already stressed. But to deal with there horrible customer service and the auditor who never calls me or my doctor office back is even more stressful. Is there anyone that can help me? Or should I just cancel my policy all together

Hi I had a meeting with one of your aflac insurance consults named joshua west he's an insurance consult with aflac here in Las Vegas NV he specializes in life insurance and supplemental insurance anyway meeting went well until we were walking to our cars and he opened his car door and it smelled like weed I asked him about it here said he smoked pot before going to work he said that it calms his nerves he said his co workers and management team know all about him smoking pot after our meeting I discussed this with my family we decided not to do any business with joshua west or aflac we complained to aflac on there Facebook page they blocked my friend so aflac is disgusting and disgraceful to instead of solving this problem by making him do a drug test and sending him to rehab they block people on there page to stop them from telling the truth aflac should be ashamed of themselves for doing that unless they r doing it with him

My name is Omarr Lewis I have been Aflac member since 1998 I filled out the forms just like the Aflac agent told me and now I'm in court for insurance fraud this has affected my my life my family but I filled out the information just as they told me right now I'm off work with pay I need someone to help me because I still have all three policies right now and I'm still paying for all three positive and I have made the payment arrangements just trying to get someone to contact me so that I mean cuz I did the forms just like they told me so if anyone has a similar case please let me know if someone that can help me please let me know because the I have witnesses the agent told me but yet I'm going to court for insurance fraud like I say I've been a member since 1998 and I only made a claim in 2014.

My name's Juanique Williams i need help. I have been AFLAC customer sense 2008. I file a claim on March 15 2017 on policy Accident . Im still have not been paid for this claims. Everytime a call Customer service the reasons why someone tell me sometjing different. I was injury on Dec 17 2016. Now im told they need the original doctor's note when i was injury. I faxed all the information after my surgery. Please call me this is out of hand. I dont understand who's audition the paperwork. Thanks for your time.

I am sorry, it seems that too many people post only negative comments. I guess it is human nature. My wife was diagnosed with Cancer in February and has had several chemo treatments and hospital stays. We used the online system to file our claim and got payment over $8000 within 24 hours!!! IF YOU FILE YOUR PAPERWORK RIGHT THEY PAY. Don't be an idiot and put stupid stuff online that you know is false. We have had Aflac for over 10 years and they never fail to do what is right as long as we do our part. Awesome company, awesome staff, and they do what the policy says they are going to do.

Wonderful help, they stayed with me until all matters were resolved perfectly, not part way, all the way. So nice to hear them call me sir or by my last name, yes please and all the proper things our mother's taught us to do. Just love calling customer service and getting people here in the USA that ask how you are, what may they do for you and just find time to shoot the breeze while they are researching your issues. It made me feel like I was family, like they were concerned, and like they had my back. What a wonderful experience. Even the nice folks like Tiffany in the Tech department was a joy. I have just recently started having problems with Aflac. I have been disabled for just over a year, and all has been great until now. I must admit that Aflac has been good to me up to this point, but don't know why now, they putting me through the wringer. In the past as a courtesy Aflac would contact my employer to verify my continued disability, but now for some reason they are asking me to supply the information. I've supplied them with two different contacts with no results. I just can't understand why they can't use the sources they have used in the past. I will continue to wait. Maybe I'm overshooting the gun, but it's never taken this long to approve a claim in the past.

I was dianoised with breast cancer back in 2005. Aflac immediately took care of me. Here it is years later, and I submitted my wellness reports to Aflac on all of my mammograms and they sent me a wellness check for the amount accrued. I have never had the pleasure of working with such a responsible and expedient insurance company. Thank you!

My husband had a heart attack the first night in our new home. I called Cassie the next day. And he was covered by the Critical Care Policies. We got the paperwork and submitted. Our claimed was paid. Then twenty two days after my husband returned back work. I fell in our kitchen. Severely breaking my leg. Called Cassie again and was covered by Accident and Short Term Disability Policies. Had paperwork in a few days turned it in. Payment came quickly. I am so glad we have Aflac, And our representative Cassie Goodband.

I have 4 policies w/Aflac, with the assistance of my agent, I was able to file multiple claims regarding Accident, Hosp Indem., Short Term Disability & Cancer. Prior to doing such, I read and re-read all of my policies to get an in-depth understanding of coverage, claim eligibility and compensation. ALL of my claims were filed via my agent 12/08 & 12/10 of 2013. When I checked my account via online as of 12/23/2013 I see all but my Accident claim as being received. However in review of the claim status, there exist no Claim Total, and the notes posted reads: "Details of this claim have been mailed; please allow 7 business days for receipt". To which I am certain that this is their "STOCK ANSWER" for a denial? Like many disgruntled consumers, I too submitted all the appropriate documentations including itemized billing w/ICD 9 codes, diagnostic codes, and Physician's Note, etc... After calling the call-center today 12/23/2013, I was informed that it was closed due to an inter-office meeting? "Christmas Party" I thought? 2 days till Christmas & I was truly looking forward to resolving my claims with Aflac prior as I had to pay almost all of my medical expenses out of pocket leaving very little for anything extra for Christmas? Although I am ultimately grateful that my family and I are healthy safe and together this holiday, Aflac honoring is commitment to supplement certain medical expenses? Would have definitely made our Christmas ALOT more MERRY!

I have been an Aflac insured for more than 5 yrs but havent had the need to use my insurance until my son was diagnosed with Cancer in March of 2012. I have a Cancer policy which I had requested that my kids be riders on the policy.

When I contacted my agent Melinda Hickey to see what benefits I had she noticed that due to a clerical error by her, the kids were not listed on the policy. She checked her notes from our intitial meeting which showed they were indeed supposed to be added to the policy. Instead of just passing the buck or not correcting the clerical error, she followed up with diligence to fix the mistake and get the benefits to my son who was battling the effects of chemo and cancer for 10 months.

She went above and beyond to help our family during our darkest hours. I commend Ms. Hickey for finding, owning up to and correcting her mistake then following up to make sure my boy recieved his benefits.

She took a genuine, heartfelt and very caring approach during my sons recovery. Thank you Ms. Hickey from my family and from the bottom of my heart for doing the right thing. Customer service at its best!

I have had Aflac since 2003. I had enrolled
in the accident, dental and cancer policy. In 2005 I was diagnosed with Lymphoma. My
aflac rep was there for me and helped me with
all the forms and made sure that I recieved all the benefits that the policy provided.
I recieved money for the surgery I had, For
All my chemo , all my doctor visits,Ant time I had to go into the hospital for treatment.
I had a good secretary in our cancer center
who filled out all of my visit forms all the dates that I had chemo and all I did was submit them to Aflac. The money i recieved for my 6 treatments well paid for my premiums for the three years I had the Policy.I have never ever had any trouble
recieving the money. I have had a few minor accidents,fx ankle, Fell while skating and recently fell outside while bringing in wood and to this day I have not had an issue.
I faxed copies of my doctors visits, er record, ambulance bill and within a week I got my check. I have had only good luck
with Aflac and they need to hear good results
instead of all the negative.. I will continue to use them. How hard can it be to
ask your doctor to give you a superbill so you can submit it, ask the ER for a copy of your record . Its a little bit of perserverence and if you are not patient enough to do that than it's not aflac's fault
keep that money coming Aflac !!!! I love you

I was released by my doctor to go back to work..I faxed the continue form letting aflac know i have been released to return to work..They have had the paper work since 02/26/2013 and i call everyday and its pending internal review...None of the customer service reps no anything...I received a letter stating its being reviewed but don;t know what for..Customer service rep are very unknowlegeable and cant tell yo anything..Not understanding why it take so long to approve or deny

I know that AFLAC gets 1000s of claims a day but the customer service team is the best of any company that I deal with.

If you are angry with AFLAC, i must share with you to give them another chance, they are 4 for 4 in success with me and I feel like a valued customer.

I was asked to contact Aflac regarding my issue with my 2 year son being denied for dental services because we did not fill out the "correct" form even though we had filled out paperwork after his birth. Aflac was fantastic in their response to my issue and was able to help remedy the situation promptly! I am very grateful to Aflac! Thank you so much for turning a frustrating situation into a fantastic one.

I live in Southern Pa and my experience with Aflac has been very good. I had an injury which they promptly reimbursed me for which I owe the ease of the process to my outstanding agent Natalie Blakeman she is very customer oriented and an asset to a good company who in the right agents hands does the right thing.

WOW I'VE HAD AFLAC FOR 3 AND 1/2 YEARS AND YES I HAD SOME ISSUES NOT GETTING MY PAYMENTS FOR CLAIMS AS SUBMITTED BUT THEN YOU GET YOUR AGENT OR IN MY CASE YOUR AGENTS TEAM INVOLVED AND MOST OF THE TIME IT GETS RESOLVED AND CHECK IS MAILED/THE ONLY MAJOR COMPLAINT IS THAT ALTHOUGH I UNDERSTAND THAT AFLAC NEEDS PROOF OF THE MEDICAL SERVICES AND PROCEDURES TO PROCESS A CLAIM I DO BELIEVE SOMETIMES AFLAC IS A LITTLE TOO DEMANDING ON CERTAIN SPECIFIC DOCUMENTS FOR EXAMPLE THE ACCIDENT CLAIMS I HAD ONE FOR MY SON WHERE HE HURT HIS FOOT PLAYING SOCCER SO I TOOK HIM TO THE WALK IN CLINIC AND HE HAD XRAYS AND A SOFT BRACE BUT THEY DENIED THE CLAIM 3 TIMES BECAUSE THE INITIAL REPORT FROM THE DOCTOR IT WAS NOT ON THE TYPICAL FORM MOST DOCTORS USED TO USE AND IT DID NOT HAVE THE WORD ACCIDENT IN IT. THE FORM DID SAY " WAS THIS A CAR ACCIDENT? I've had AFLAC for about 5 years...Cancer, Disability and Accident. I have received close to $3600 in payments from Accident coverage alone. For the first 3 years, I felt clueless on how to file a claim and was ready to cancel because I felt overwhelmed. My agent sat down with me and we filled out forms and gathered my documentation (a simple phone call to the doctor for a copy of files)I faxed in the claims and presto, the checks started coming in. I love AFLAC. I've never submitted claims for Cancer other than the well-check visits. Customer Service and my Agent have been very helpful. In fact, I'm thinking of becoming an agent as I think everyone should have this insurance...especially the accident coverage

I just want to say that dealing with Aflac for my sister who has disability policy has been wonderful. I absolutely don't know what she would have done without this policy. We didnt have any trouble filling out forms and claims have been processed within a week. Thanks to that little duck for everything!

I have had aflac for almost eight years, and every time i have put a claim in, they have responed back on my claim in a timely manner. They have always had a grest tuner around on processing my check, I have never had to look for it, or call the 800 number for help. I've just did a claim, and I look forward to receieving my claim check. So i say Thanks! Aflac for such a great service to me.....

I just called in to the 800# and received great service from a very caring and professional representative. I haven't submitted my claims yet; however, he assisted me in the information I needed to get them sent off.

Aflac has been wonderful to me. I had a major illness, cancer---Stage 3---and knew that to pay my claims, Aflac needed the detail bills from the provider, not just the summary bills most like to send so you have to request these. My many claims were paid and the extra money kept me "stress free" from a money standpoint while healing! Don't blame Aflac. These days as a patient you have to be smart when working with your doctors, and with your great insurance coverage. Work with them on providing the proper documentation and you will be VERY PLEASED you signed up with these policies. I was.....I still have the coverage today. Thank you, AFLAC!

I purchased AFLAC approx. 1988 when I was healthy. To date I have since been diagnosed with uterine cancer, lung cancer and leukemia.
Your company has enabled me to handle many expenses that have presented. I am still taking a chemo drug which you also reimburse me for - a God Send. I encourage all my friends and relatives to purchase AFLAC. To me this is the most wonderful policy I could ever have had. Thank you AFLAC - I can't imagine why others are complaining.
My agent has always given great customer service!!

I read this negative comments and am dumbfounded. I have never had anything but excellent service and claims paid quick. (usually within a week). My agent in Houston always returns my calls within a day. (he even calls me back on weekends) I always have my agent file my claim for me, that way I know it is clean and will be processed fast. Aflac is a big company with humans working there, so mistakes are going to happen. The outlines of coverage are VERY clear. I bet very few of you actually took the time to read about clauses and pre-existing conditions. I understand when they are needed, it is an emotional time: you are dealing with health and money issues. I am sorry that you had bad experiences, but I know that some of this could have been avoided by being smart and reading what you have.

I personally own 5 different Aflac policies and am the group administrator for our company. We have had a very positive experience with our employees and Aflac. Your agent has a lot to do with it and should be on first name, professional relationship with your group administrator. When any of our employees have an issue, they come to me and I go direct to our Aflac representative to go to bat for them. As with any insurance company, Aflac, Health, Dental, Life, etc they all must have a correctly completed form and the correct paperwork as proof of loss. Most times, I can look over the documents that the employee is using and can point out what they need to complete in order to get the claim processed. Our company offers two supplimental type policies Aflac and Liberty National. Overall our Aflac plans have better benefits than Liberty. Also, in the 9 years we have offered their policies we have not experienced any of the problems listed here. Again, it is because the proper paperwork was submitted and the claims were paid within a few days. The longest one we ever had was for a stroke victim and it was paid within 15 days. We are very pleased. There has to be other issues going on with these claims and I don't understand why your company representative/administrator isn't helping you. I just felt that Aflac should be receiving a fair evaluation because our experience has been nothing like what is being listed here.

Wow! Well I read some of these and I am very sorry for those of you having trouble. I have had Aflac for 10 years and have had many accident claims, wellness claims etc and have never waited more than 7 days for my money.....I have never had any trouble and I don't even use my rep I do it all myself. Maybe stop using your reps or let your employer know you are having problems, maybe they need to get you all a new rep???? Not sure, but sorry for your bad exp. Mine has always been wonderful and I have never spoke to a rude person,ever. I love AFLAC!

Four years ago I had colon cancer surgery. Fortunately, it was successful and I did not even have to have follow-up chemotherapy. I was hospitalized for seven days and filed a claim, having my surgeon fill out the paperwork, which was not really extensive at all. I received a check for more than the amount it cost to pay my deductible. As a matter of fact, it turned out to be twice as much as my deductible. I received insurance payment within a few days of mailing the claim form. I was so pleased with AFLAC on this and on a couple of minor skin cancer claims several years ago that I am even considering being an AFLAC rep at some point because I think it is a good and reputable company.

LOVE AFLAC... My husband had heart attach and Aflac was right there to help... Check was sent within 4 weeks of the indcident. Everyone there including my agent was great... I would recommend everyone to sign up... Thanks AFLAC

I am an agent for Aflac and I am reading these post of bad things.. has anyone ever thought of asking any of the other agents for their insurance license? To see a copy of it? Of their license number? We have to have a license number and we have to have a copy of a license. Also another thing that can be done is for you to take the information to the local Aflac office and give it to the District manager or regional manager that is available to make sure that it is faxed to the correct person. They will then follow up with corporate office to make sure that your needs are being met, I as an agent am sorry to hear that you as a client are not being treated right by your agent. An you guys are not understanding that Aflac corporate office really cant be blamed, they are dealing with agents, clients, and alot of other people that are behind the scenes. That is why the agents should be out there helping you as we promised. If anyone should be getting blamed it is the agent that signed you up!!!

I am an Aflac agent also with a policy. I was a stay-at-home mom for 13 years and would not have left my daughters unless I believed in this company! I have had the ability to see policyholders receive a check when they need it most. Keeping their world going around. If you are not receiving the service you deserve please contact Aflac and they will provide you with an agent who will focus on you. There has been a few cases where it is the agent not taking responsibility for their accounts but the company is very good at meeting their responsibility. You need a better agent our job is to file your claims, check on you, keep Aflac working the way it was designed to help our policyholders. Beware of AFLAC read " I love Aflac" 's comment. This person claims to be an agent yet states, "After reading these complaints its obvious most of these consumers aren't very educated. I've been an agent for over 7 years & when claims asks for more information/denies claims that seem 'simple" its usually bcz policyholder is attempting to commit fraud." This should show anyone considering AFLAC a true view of what you will be dealing with. I purchased 4 plans through AFLAC...I pay tons of $$ each month. I filed a claim for maternity... they will pay out $600 a month! What a joke. Save your money, pay yourself, and if something should come up...you have a nest egg. You won't have to rely on these idiots to help you. I figured it out. From what I paid and what will be paid out. I ended up spending thousands more on this policy. I would have been better off just saving the money. I hope this helps.

I have been an aflac agent for over 8 years. The company treats their veteran agents horribly. All they care about are new agents, since it is their production (the agents with 2 years or less with the company) that counts in order for all the District, Regional, and State Coordinators to make their bonuses. This is a good ole boy company, and the favors get traded back and forth. The managers and higher-ups are blood sucking leeches who don't care at all about the salespeople, and lets face it, without us, the company would be dead.
There is NO accountablility from state to state. There are some state managers who plain con artists and shysters. Plus the company is using a sales and marketing method that is outmoded and pretty much ruining Aflac's reputation in the business world. There are no assigned territories...its' a damned free-for-all, with armies of agents all calling on the same businesses over and over again. There is a Do No Contact List that gets added to daily...businesses that have taken out legal restraining orders against ever being contacted by another Aflac agent again. Greedy, greedy, greedy. Their stock might be hot now, but I predict this company will not be around another 10 years. They have poor management and can't get out of their own way.

okay...I am going to address some of the issues I've been reading, and hopefully this will help a few people. I used to work in the Aflac call center (worst job ever)
Anyway,concerning claims..
1)Never believe anything your agent tells you (and this is true of ALL insurance companies) If it isn't listed in the policy, you aren't getting paid. I'm not bagging on the Aflac agents, but they are NOT direct employees and are trained to sell sell sell.
2) This is sup insurance. Your rates will never go up, but neither does your covergae. So if you've had a policy for quite a few years, you best call and upgrade.
3) As a consumer you need to pay attention to what policy you buy. If you buy an accident policy, it only covers a physical injury accident, nothing else
4) For the callers complaing on the long hold times... once we clocked in, the phones never stop ringing.. EVER...
I would say 50% of the calls I took were scammers.
Here's an insiders tip.. ALWAYS have major medical, and only buy a sup policy you can use. Aflac is not your friend,they are a for profit business. This can be said of ANY insurance company.
If you are an agent looking to sell Aflac, your market has probably been saturated, so unless you are willing to put in 110%, don't sell it.
If you are considering working in the call center,and aren't used to non-stop calls with people yelling at you all day, I would suggest to look elsewhere. It truly sucks.
On a side note...this was the most "cultish" company I have ever worked for. If you don't embrace EVERYTHING concerning the duck, you will not succeed there.
I have worked in many fields of insurance. Aflac is no better or worse than most out there. Where you as a consumer make a mistake, is by believing the commercials that they are your friend, and by never reading the policy that you purchase.

I agree with cdavis. I am an agent in Missouri and explain to all of my clients that they need to fax me their information that they get from the doctor and not to send it themselves. As an agent I never hear a true complaint about the company but their agent. I always feel bad about how people feel screwed by a bad agent. One rule of thumb, your insurance coverage is only as good as your agent. If your agent works for you, they are a good agent, if they bend over backwards and when speaking to them you feel they admire the products we sell then, they are a great agent. To all of you that have claims that did not go through due to lack of agent help, contact your local office and I bet someone can help you get that claim right.

I have been reading these comments and as a agent I am shocked the replys from other agents. We are responsible for taking care of our policy holders- my clients DO NOT file claims or have to call customer service THEY CALL ME!!!I make a point of stressing this when I open a new account or service an existing account. These clients we want to assist, do not know what is needed to expidite claims and we should educate our selfs as to what Aflac needs in order to pay claims in a timly manner. Its easy to just write a policy but it takes a true professional to follow up and take care of our clients.
