Undoubtedly the most frustrating, uncaring financial institution I've ever dealt with.
I'm on a fixed income and needed to make an online grocery purchase (I have a disability, live in rural Ontario, cannot drive because of my disability, receive cancer treatments 3 times a week in London and rely on online retailers to deliver my basic necessities) I made the purchase and paid using my debit card, completely forgetting that I had been gifted a sizeable gift card that would have covered my $500+ monthly food purchase. I immediately recognized my mistake and cancelled the entire transaction with the intention of rebuying it using my gift card because I only had $515 in my account to last the month - I decided to add a few items and needed an extra $20 that I would use my debit card for. My transaction was declined - BMO had 'held' the money from my first cancelled transaction and it emptied my account. The $500 in my account was to cover those expenses for my kids and transportation for the rest of the month and now I was broke - my money was being held by BMO for a cancelled purchase. I was told the funds would NOT be available for one week. I called the bank and explained my error and asked if they would release my funds - there was no reason to hold my cash for a cancelled transaction. I gave the rep the transaction ID to prove the purchase was cancelled and was told tough crap. I have no other income, no family to borrow money from and now I had no cash whatsoever for the next week to cover my expenses. If a transaction is cancelled, why are you still holding my money hostage? "That's policy" I was told. But I cancelled the purchase - there is no reason to not release my funds. I'm broke and BMO could care less. I feel like I've been robbed and the bank doesn't care - "there's nothing we can do" I was told. BS. The machines run your institution? I made an error and proved the initial transaction was cancelled but uncaring aholes are uncaring aholes. It will be a pleasure to close my account once they return my money. People are not important to BMO and to say there's nothing they can do is just a lie. Thanks for stealing my money. I cannot afford the thrice weekly trip to the cancer clinic and frankly, I hate BMO; they are Uncaring, money grubbing pricks who don't deserve my patronage and have screwed me over a purchase that was cancelled. I'm livid, scared and broke because I didn't buy anything. Is this punishment BMO? You are the most frustrating, uncaring financial institution ever and again, I hate you.

I have been a customer of BMO over 30 years- the new on line app is the worst from ANY type of app I have ever seen ! It looks like a cartoon kids app!!!!
At least the previous app you could clearly see each account, do transfers etc. like an adult. Not now, you go in and out just to see what happened, if your payment/transfer happened. Seriously considering moving banks after all these years !

Horrible customer service experience. After I provided my SS# and answer 9 questions they claim they couldn't help me an told me to come into a branch. Over 3 calls and an hour later, they wasted my time horrible bank stay away!

Absolutely horrible bank. Disorganized, screwed up paperwork, bought our loan from another bank and now we have to deal with these idiots. They screw up, then send you the bill, then can't figure out how to fix their own crap, and hang up. Worthless institution, put your money in a coffee can, you'll be better off.

I applied for $20k loc and was denied. My husband applied and got approved. We have the same debt, same credit rating, same income except with him he never pays his debts on time!! Probably because Im a woman! BMO has got to be the most sexest bank to deal with! Absolutely absurd!! Now I take a credit hit for f-n NOTHING! Done with this BS bank, dont take customer loyalty seriously at all.

I wish I have seen all the negative reviews before banking with BMO. I just had the worst customer service. 2 weeks of banking with them and they suck so bad. They wouldn't even listen to what you're saying. Man look at that percentage of 1 percent review, I already feel sorry for those who are planning to bank with them. I wouldn't even rate it 1 star.

I have banked with Bank Of the West for years with no issues. They are now BMO Harris Bank and it's horrible.
In July I had about 30 fraudulent charges hit my debit card. All apple charges around $300. The fraud department alerted me I told them no they were not mine. The shut off the debit card and said they would investigate it should all be cleared up and my money backni. 10 days. At 11th day the reimbursement my account. No 3 month later I get a notice of denial and they are going to withdraw money from my account. I am going to contact FDIC. Closing accounts as soon as possible.
Avoid them like the plague.

I never had issues with bank of the west like I do now. My family has accounts with bmo and they are having trouble with accounts as well. We are closing all four accounts. BMO is awful.

Kinda rude customer service. I'm on medical leave called to see if insurance payment was on my account yet. Because in July if I didn't call they would not have sent me the money back they took from my bank.because the customer service person told me it wasn't set up to be sent back. Today when the person iwas talking to I said to him that I was waiting for the insurance payment.to make sure I got my payments back that they took from my account.i was trying to explain why I was calling about this the comment I got from him was I know how to do my job.not once was I giving and kind of comments said anything about how he did his job.

Rude customer rep. Upon answering my call, she was already talking about unable to help me and call back after 3 hours in a very monotone voice. After clarifying that ok then you cannot help me and I need to call back later. She still insisted to ask for the problem. I told her then she keeps repeating that she cannot help me because she cannot open my account. She said it without empathy. I got angry and said that's the reason why already told you that I will just call back later since i know you cannot help me. But in a monotone voice she still keeps on talking and never apologized about the inconvenience. So I hang up, rude customer rep and very unempathetic.

bmo bathurst nb is the absolute worst customer service that i have ever had the missfortune of ever getting involved with..wish i never opened accounts at this uncaring ..unrealistic..un contactable..un reliable ..band of thieves in the intire banking system..cant get a reply an appointment or an answer by phone..phone messages..email..or online..they have cost me thousands of dollars in the past two years and multiplying daily..i would never ever advise anyone to do any buisness with this bank..everyone i know who has had any dealings with bmo say the exact same things about bmo...maybe its time we get together and file a class action law suit against bmo..and bring this into public medea and put an end to this banks legalized theft by conversion and gross missrepresentation of service and false advertizing..as they say.."we are here to help"..i guess this means here to help ourselves to customers hard earned money..then charge you extra for the privlege of double dip theft!!

BMO is a CRIMINAL enterprise NOT a bank! Fraudsters work within the bank, they utilize BMO's toll free and messaging system to scam people out of money and everyone within the bank knows what's going on, they are acutely aware that their Global Money Transfer system and their phone systems are compromised, fraud department even admits it on the recorded line but they always blame the victim, always refusing refunds providing utterly ridiculous excuses! Their CEO and upper management MUST be prosecuted for running this criminal enterprise.

Poor customer servive. Training is necessary for some staff. Dont make false statement to customer just to make up with them. They should learn how to asks if they dont know what they are doing to their supervisor or whoever knows the job well.

3 hours wait time to speak to someone over phone. Gave up and went into the branch teller couldn't fix problem but luckily one of the guys in the office came out and fixed the issue of bank account but linked to credit card. Months later account locked out so went into branch again to reset password as I didn't want to really 3 hours on phone. 2 days after this my credit card and bank account got unlinked again ! I'm going to get a business account at another back and transfer everything over. I'm stuck of this shit

Pleased to write a very positive review about Bank of Montreal, Milton branch on Ontario. I met with Sara Mhanna yesterday with a pageful of problems and questions. Each issue was resolved by Sara, explained very patiently and completely. I appreciated that and how easy it was to feel comfortable with her.

Sadly to say after dealing with the BMO over 30 years they have never had my interest at heart.
They are completely uncaring and only out for themselves.
They took advantage of both myself and my wife.

I will go into branch tomorrow morning at tell them to clean out all my accounts, in CASH.

Only because I won't pay any more fees ie cashier check etc.

RBC is another Bank if dealt with over the years without any issues and or disrespect.

My cash out of the BMO is approximately 350,000.00
As a so called bank, they better have the cash. I will not accept any BMO paperwork

Its not convenient but I just go inside the branch for any BMO credit card issues that I have. I can basically drive to my BMO branch, deal with the cc issue and be back home in less time than it would take to wait on the phone and waste 2 hours of my life.

Ms Mariya Kolossova is a great asset to BMO bank mortgage department. So well informed, so patient, so pleasant. She is the reason I signed my renewal within moments. I called in myself and thankfully was connected to her. In the past nearly 4 years ago I had dealt with one unpleasant, always in a rush representative and it was a very frustrating experience. However Ms Mariya K revived my faith in BMO bank with a great deal with her effecient and phenomenal customer dealings. Again, she answered every single question with such clarity, knowledge and patience. By far one of the most pleasant associates I dealt with. Thank you!!!!!

Bmo mastercard has outstanding customer service! I had an issue with airmiles and airmiles would not even help me after holding for hours. Even though bmo was not at fault or didnt have to do anything, they compensated my lost airmiles. This was truly going above and beyond for a customer. Thank you BMO Mastercard!

I just visited BMO. I am so happy how Laleeni Sharma from 17504 100 Ave doing her job. She is so proffecional,knowlegeble worker. She found time for me even it was lunch time, even next custumer appointment time rich, she still gave me attention. She made me so happy.

I have always have good experiences with the BMO staff, but this was exceptional. On February 16, I went to the McCowan Branch, everyone there is so plesant and friendly. All my issues were promptly dealt with and resolved.I hope they are properly compensated. Well done you all

The best BMO branch in terms of customer service is at Laird/commercial branch. The management there seems to be customer focussed and every time I go there, I get the best service. Never seen any branch like that. Great Job, BMO at Laird/Commercial.

I wish to comment of the superior service provided at 10842 82 Avenue branch in Edmonton, Alberta. Leta Bry always gives my elderly parents exceptional service and attention. Samatha also treats my parents very well. Mom and Dad enjoy their trips to the bank and continually speak of the special treatment and care they receive from these ladies. I often drive them to the bank and have witnessed the assistance that is provided. These ladies deserve to be recognized for their kindness. Please pass on my sincere appreciation for their kindness.
