I am staying in Massapequa at your hotel. From checkin last night until this morning it has been a horrible experience. My rooms were not available. Then they put us in room with bad plumbing. The bath tubs are stopped up. The toilets flood over when flushed. The staff especially the desk clerk is rude . I stayed he last year with some difficulties but this is horrendous. I want my money refunded

Hahaha, still would never stay here again. Too bad, since the room was awesome and the bed was great. But they charged my card a $350 dog deposit. It dropped off, my dogs are good, but it took 6 days to get my money back. Ridiculous, stay at Red Lion, they don't mistreat people with dogs.

HEALTH HAZARD!! FALSE ADVERTISING!! BE WARNED!! We had the misfortune of staying at the Best Western in Three Rivers, CA on 12/ 29/23 Just outside Sequoia National Park. There is a Comfort Inn a 1/2 mile down the road. STAY THERE. We checked in around 9:30 pm ( time is important because water on floor from cleaner should be dry by then) We were given room 19 . Noticed immediately that there was standing water around the toilet. Called front desk, they asked if we could wait for someone in 15 min. NO! A leaking toilet is not going to be fixed at 9:30at night! I don't want to wade thru motel toilet water!!! We requested a new room. We were given room 62 - a handicapped room as far away from the lobby as possible. Again, important to note. Immediately we noticed standing water sat the end of one of the beds. WTH! No ceiling leak, but a mystery. Being exhausted from the day, we decided to put an early old towel on it and avoid it. At least it wasn't toilet water! It did not appear to be mop water because the floor was still dirty, crud along walls especially in the bathroom.
Next problem - NO TOILET PAPER or KLEENEX AT ALL. Imagine being a physically handicapped person, using the toilet and finding out that there is no toilet paper in the room at all. Only thing in the closet was an old walker and two old pillows WITHOUT PILLOWCASES. No blankets, no extra sheets, no nothing!! There was only two old stained towels in the room ( sleeps four people) that were thrown up on the shelf. Yes, thrown up. No tidy effort at all. My daughter had to walk across a dark parking lot at 10pm to get ONE ROLL OF TP. They didn't even offer to stock the room or offer Kleenex.
So around 10:30pm we proceeded to open the beds. NO TOP SHEETS!! Gross! Only fitted sheets! Imagine trying to sleep against old blankets that possibly hundreds or thousands of people have slept against. This is the type of motel that probably doesn't wash the blankets, by the looks of the towels. (towels were old , worn, stained and HAD HAIR ON THEM!!!) This time I called the front desk and asked them to deliver top sheets to our room. About 10 minutes later, the mom and her son showed up. ( this is family business, mom and daughter wore the same religious garb and the son looked like the mom) I showed the mom the lack of sheets and the water on the floor. No apologies, no excuses. She did bring two extra nasty towels to make a total of 4 towels for a room that slept four.
After they left I pulled out the beds to check for bedbugs. This definitely the type of motel that would have bedbugs. Amazing! no bedbugs but GREEN MOLD ON FLOOR AT HEAD OF BOTH BEDS. HEALTH HAZARD!! it was quite obvious that the beds had never been pulled out for cleaning. I wish I had taken a picture but I was too tired.
But the "fun' didn't end there. The heater only had two settings - 85 degrees or off. Even though the temperature number appeared to change, IT DID NOT WORK. My husband had to open the sliding glass door at 2am to release the inferno. We turned the blast furnace back on at 7 am when we were trying to escape the hellhole.
But wait! There's more! We opened the room fridge only to find a brown liquid on the door and on the floor of the fridge. The fridges are never cleaned.
Again, there's more! The tv must use old antenna. No cable or satellite. Remember the old fuzzy lines and static? Old folks would remember this as classic antenna reception. this is an old motel - think 1970's Which brings up an important point, because this is such an old motel, there are NO USB PLUGS. You need to bring your own cubes to charge your devices.
FALSE ADVERTISING! This motel advertises CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST. OH HELL NO! That was the first thing the daughter said when we tried to check in early. No breakfast, just oatmeal and some old, dehydrated oranges. No coffee in lobby, no place to sit down in the tiny lobby. Old fashioned drip coffee makers in room, but no creamers. Daughter did recommend a place down the road that served breakfast. Close to the Comfort Inn that you should stay at inside of this health hazard place that calls itself a Best Western.
This motel should be reported for health violations and for false advertising. Due to its age, it should be brought up to code and turned into housing for the homeless. Best use for it.

AGAIN. DO NOT STAY HERE. STAY AWAY. THERE IS A COMFORT INN less than a mile toward the park.

Do not stay here. After reading reviews (which I should have (first),
Seems as if the normal procedure is to overcharge quest. I stayed at the Alexandria location on November 10, 2023, and checked out on November 11, 2023. Still waiting on my deposit. Now it's December 8,2023.

Best Western in Kodak TN has provided substandard accommodations, substandard customer service and it is an absolutely disgusting hotel. When you arrive there is no one at the front desk which looks like a desk from an old office. When someone finally shows up they ask you why you are surprised that there is no one available to check you in because they are taking care of something else somewhere not at front desk. Health department should come in and I spect breakfast area as it is unsanitary. Walked in and milk dispenser was open and disgusting inside. Rooms are below standard with mold in grout. For a hotel of 108 rooms or so, staff is only 5 with only 1 at a time!
Called BW customer care and they refer complaint to hotel where they call and are liars and rude. Why stay there. As a BW platinum member, we have decided not to stay at such a hotel in the future and do not recommend this chain to anyone. From now on we will stay at a different cabin of hotel.

We booked for 5 nights.
Upon check in, we waited and waited to be seen at the check-in counter. When we finally were met at the desk, a young man came out from the back- OBVIOUSLY having just woke up. We interrupted his slumber.
We checked in. He assigned us a room and gave us a key for a room that was already occupied!! We walked into someone else's room.
Ok, honest mistake!?! Went back to the check in counter, he was obviously bothered by us inconveniencing him and his rest but assigned us a new room. Went to the new room. Key didn't work. Ok, still no biggy!?! Went back and we did this TWO more times (so this is the 4th time in total) before we got a room that was actually vacant.
Our reservation was for five nights.
On the 3rd day we informed the front desk that our room had not been cleaned and we needed towels, toilet paper, trashed removed, toiletries, etc, ie the room need to be cleaned. It was still not done on the 3rd day, so we notified them again the next day (the 4th day) and again asked nicely that the room be serviced. Came back after being out all day on the 5th day and the room was sill not serviced (5 days in a row). By now we had 5 days of trash, trash bags full of food items, moldy towels, etc. it was foul! It smelled terrible!
Went to the don't desk to tell them and was told to put the moldy towels and trash bags outside the room door. In ADDITION to this, we had to go down to the desk EVERYday to have our room key cards reset as every time we left and came back, the key didn't work. The cherry on top of this was our room had roaches. We have pics of the trash, heap of moldy towels and roaches.
Edna at the front desk was great and apologized. She was sweet and was very apologetic (although it wasn't her fault). After putting the trash and towels outside the door, we went down and got fresh towels and toilet paper and slept in nasty smelly room.
It was 5 days of TERRIBLE!
Will never stay here again!! Will never stay at a BW+ again.
Edna said she spoke to the manager Kevin and he said "there's nothing he can do about it because we booked through a 3rd party."(Expedia)
BE AWARE, the BW+ in Panama City will NOT honor their commitment to service if you book through a 3rd party- which 78% of customers do. This is their "guarantee" directly from their website....
"Best Western Plus® goes beyond the expected, offering everything from well-appointed guest rooms to upgraded amenities. Connecting you to Best Western Rewards®, our award-winning loyalty program, we are committed to delivering the highest degree of hospitality and unmatched value - around the block and around the world"
Needless to say, we did NOT receive the "HIGHEST DEGREE OF HOSPITALITY AND UNMATCHED VALUE." In fact it was the antithesis of that!
We are avid travelers and travel the world. I have NEVER written a bad review for any place in my life, until now. Stay elsewhere. Don't ruin your vaca by risking this establishment.
Disgusted!!

Booked into the wrong motel since they have two with the same name. Room want what I booked and TV was out of service for over 24 hours. Called Best Western customer service and told to give the motel a few days to respond. Customer service never got back with me and when I called them, I was told they could give me a few points. Meantime I'm screwed out of 50.00 promotion gift card because I checked into motel 5 days after promotion ended. Not what booking agent told me in August when I booked the reservation. Customer service is down the toilet at Best Western along with the rooms they rent

Best western on island corpus christi Texas are ruud thieves and the hotel has severe bed bug infestation

Very poor customer service from gm Teresa tanner and their rewards program is bogus...there is no way to use it because their front desk clerks don't know how to apply it . Clarksville BW was poor in cleanliness also as a medical professional I noticed food worker not washing hands and not wearing gloves

On 8-5-23 we stayed at a Best Western in Henderson NV. We showed up at 12:30 pm and was told no rooms were ready yet. Told us to come back in 30 minutes to an hour. We came back at 1:40 pm and during check in which I had a reservation and I'm a Rewards member was told I would have to pay $50 for early check in. What is the reason for this besides scamming people. I had a reservation, the rooms were ready. There's no reason why you should charge me for this. I've stayed in many hotels and have Never had to pay an early check in! This is pathetic! If BW Corp does not refund me this charge, I will Never stay at any of your properties again! So if $50 is worth what you're going to lose in the long run, then so be it. I contacted the GM at the hotel and it was obvious he couldn't care less about my concerns.

Two friends and I booked thru booking.com--big mistake. They are rude,in addition they lied and said our reservation was not made and insisted we book with another hotel for double the price.we called Best Western and confirmed our reservation. Problem 1. Booking.com guaranteed we had a downstairs room or upstairs rooms had elevators since we all had handicaps. When we arrived we had to climb a total of 22 steps. Problem 2 we booked family king suite. When we arrived we had a double king room.

when we arrived there was a very smelly odor. I think the carpet was new and room had not been aired enough to get rid of smell. The beds were horrible. The appearance was that elephants had slept in both beds as there were deep crevices. So deep that when you got in bed you could not get out of the hole without a struggle. The pillows looked good but when head pressure was on them they flattened like a pancake.
The best at Best Western was the employees-Leslie, who confirmed our reservation with a friendly and very compassionate voice.
Darla, who volunteered to help bring down our suitcases so we did not have to struggle and brought extra towels and washclothes immediately. ALL of the ladies who worked in the breakfast line-(I lost my note with all your names). Your smiling faces greeting us and accommodating our requests was THE HIGHLIGHT of our visit.

June 12,2023 reserved a room at River Terrace in Cheboygan michigan. My partner checked in while I was getting out of surgery at McLaren Hospital. They gave her the wrong room that I reserved. I went to desk and told them we were not staying there. We left. They charged my credit card 4 days later. Ripped me off! Fraud!!

We are currently staying at the Best Western in Evanston Wyoming we usually stay at Best Western because they are nice motels for the price. We stay at the BestvWestern in Burley Idaho at least 4 times a year and Kline it. However this Best Western is a dump. We stayed in room 726 which was far from main building in what my husband dubbed "trucker ally." The hair dryer was loose from the wall, the lamp had to lean against the wall and the shower products were skimpily and cheap. Breakfast this morning was awful. Only cheddar cheese bagels (yuck) available by toaster, eggs were cold and potatoes were freezing. This place does not deserve zo because best western and it is certainly not worth the $165.00 we paid.

Don't stay at the Best Western hotel Strongsville. No clean rooms, paper plates and cups is all they had. Ran out of orange juice, staff trying to hide the cereal box, coffee machine broken, no soap etc in bathrooms, which were dirty. My family came from the UK for my son's wedding which was ruined by Best Western. I can't get a straight answer from the GM (John).

After staying one night, I asked to cancel my second night because of a large snow storm (more than 12 inches in 2 days). They said thy had a 24 hour policy for cancelations with no exceptions. Blizzard conditions across the state are not normal conditions , all the local schools and many businesses closing is not normal - and yet they charged me for the second night although I did not stay.

Very, very disappointed in their customer service - and will never stay there again.

Absolutely the worat experience ever! Filthy dirty and they would not clean it! I had to clean it myself because i couldnt find another hotel to stay in. Calgary Best Western plus do not stay unless you are ok with semen on the floor the chair and table, and the fact that the toilet had someone else's urine and toilet paper in it- which the cleaning staff would not clean. After asking for the room to be clean, the manager told me that if their hotel was not up to my standard to leave!

I've been trying for almost 2 weeks to get a refund for 3 nights from the BW+ Indianapolis NW. When I checked out they said only the manager does adjustments. I call daily and leave my name and number to no avail. I was able to speak to Bridgette one time and she had me send over my receipt. She just emailed she is doing an adjustment but it is for the wrong amount. When I tried to call her again for the last 2 days she's in meetings or is not available.

I booked a room 2 weeks in advance and requested a certain room, we have stay in the Fillmore best Western several times and at check in I was not able to get the room I requested and your receptionist was very rude. The room that we stayed in had people upstairs that were very noisy, we had to call the office for them to do something about it and even then they were still noisy. We did not enjoy our stay as much as we have the times we had stayed there before.

Best Western Pine Tree, Chino California this place is run down, racist, and crack head city. The guy clerk is disgusting and I left something very nice for him.

I stayed at the best western in Florence South Carolina. The room had bogs in the bathroom , the noise level was like staying in a construction site.Large loud trucks riding past the rooms at all hours.
I was a preferred Costomer but will not stay in another best western or recommend best western to my veteran friends or family. Very disappointing
I use to love staying at best western but no longer.

On March 6, 2021 I checked in at the Troy, Alabama Best Western. There is where I was greeted by an older white female who addressed me as "girl" repeatedly. I am 52 with daughters of 19 and 23 years old with me that day. In the south, referring to an adult black male or female as a "boy" or "girl" is a racial slur. After I politely told her that I was 52 and did not prefer to be called a girl, she persisted to continue to call me that and then referred to my daughters the same way. I left the desk to check the room and returned to find her assisting an old Caucasian and younger Caucasian woman. She did NOT. once refer to either of them as girls. I addressed her again and told her not to refer to me or my daughters as "girls". She tried to explain how her "daddy" raised her. I insisted again without hostility despite the fact I was upset because my daughters were looking on. She finally agreed to refrain but ended the comversation in a snide tone calling us "ladies" as if she hated to say it. The room she gave us was stinking with the smell of vomit and mildew. I notified the cleaning crew the following morning because I did not want things to escalate. My stay was relatively uncomfortable and I felt mistreated and insulted racially. Some of the staff complained of her history of loosely using the the N word, boy, and girl with staff, their significant others, and other clients. Why is she still serving there? I desire to continue to use your service upon my visits to Troy when I visit there, but I would greatly desire not to encounter that particular person and their racist behaviors and have a cleaner better smelling room. Please make a difference as soon as possible.

We stayed at the Best Western in Barbarasville, W.V. We got there May 23 and the grass had not been cut in awhile, and the trash was fool and never did get empty. The wall in the bathroom was a mess. We have stayed at this Best Western 2 to 5 times a year, going on 17 years. We stayed there in November and it looked fine, but this trip it looked run down.

I had to go to each floor around midnight to get a drink, had two of my daughters competition leotards with me as I came from my car to fetch them on my way back to the room. Being distracted by getting stuff from the vending machine I forgot the leotards hanging on a luggage cart parked by the vending machine on the 4th floor.

When I realized it and run back upstairs they were GONE. Nobody turned them to the Lost & Found!!

I was devastated, in tears, and had to file police report in order to be able to review the security tapes. They told me the manager in charge of security tapes wouldn't be in till Monday (incident happened Friday night).

When we came back to the hotel we were told the manager had come in and looked at the tape and didn't see anything. Well, I thought they would call me so I can view the tape with him together. They said he viewed between 11.30pm and 1am. The time frame i went to the vending machine. Well clearly they were taken AFTER 1am and after I had returned to the room!!!!!!! So somewhere between 1am and 9am in the morning is when to look at the tapes!!!

I am so angry and sad and just feel like nobody is trying to help me!!! They act like I am crazy or these leotards never existed!

All I want to see is who took them, see which room they went to and possibly track them down to get my leotards back!!! These are leotards for a 10 year old girl!!!! So unbelievable that horrible people wouldn't turn them in. Worst, that nobody else sees to care and go the extra mile to view maybe 7 hrs of tape, find out who took it and just get them back!!!!!

Police report has been filed!! I except for someone from corporate office to contact me!! I will not stop till my leotards have been found!!!!

The customer service from Yvetts was impeccable. From the moment we walked in she was on shift and went far beyond our expectations of customer service. We really appreciate her professionalism and friendliness especially. She is an asset to Best Western Hotel chains!

Myself, my partner and our kid stayed at best western blakeslee, Pa location on July 28 & 29th. Our experience exceeded our expectations! I'm super picky about hotels I stay at because of cleanliness and customer service. Our room was not only very very clean but it was also extremely comfortable. The customer service from the morning front desk and the swing shift person was incredibly welcoming. Especially Nancy on the 3-11pm shift. She was amazing and extremely accommodating! Breakfast was amazing and the pool area was very very well kept and clean. We initially only planned to stay one night however because of our experience we decided to extend our stay! Kudos to best western in Blakeslee, PA. We definitely will be back. We live on the beach in Ventnor, NJ and wanted a place to stay that was great! We sure got that! We will be back for sure

We stayed at the best Western in Clear lake, Iowa and the service there was great. The desk personnel was Max and he was very knowledgeable and personable! Also made our stay enjoyable. I would definitely stay there again.

Recently my daughter ad i stayed at Best Western Plus Carlton Plaza in Victoria, BC. The hotel was clean, newly redecorated and the staff was friendly, professional and helpful. We had a suite that was tastefully decorated with a beautiful view of the city. About 3 A.M. the fire alarm went off. After determining there was no danger, we called the front desk and learned hat it was only our alarm that went off. An employee was there within 5 minutes to disarm it. When we awoke later that morning a letter of apology was under our door with 2 vouchers for a complementary breakfast. I want to commend Lynnsey H. for excellent customer service. We apprciate this thoughtful gesture. Two thumbs up!!!

I am a hotel guest at best western plus otay valley location. As of this writing, I am still billeted to the said hotel. Front desk, housekeeping, b'fast attendant and the rest of the staff are well deserve of commendation. The only complaint that I want to voice out is their business center. It is beyond expectation. They need to fix it. They have two computers. I can't use the other computer because according to the error report the time is not updated. Upon checking it, it is very late, just 7 years, need to update it. The other one is functioning but you can't print. I am having a suspicion that they don't want their guests to use this amenity to the advantage of their customer. It is really annoying specially that if you are on a business trip. Need to print my expenses so that I can reimburse it to my company. Very annoying. THEY NEED TO IMPROVE IT. How can I recommend to my company to make a future booking to this location if the business center is not functioning. I hope they could fix it before the day of my check out. When you are travel and doing business, computers and printers is very important, but sad to say, I didn't expect that it will happen to me. I need to wait for my free day to use it to do my reports and print it instead of enjoying it. I hope they will take action on it right away. Annoying to keep on asking the staff to help you and sometimes I need to wait because they need to attend the other guest's that will come in and those who are calling. Please fix it now.

. My sister and I evacuated from our home in Beaufort, SC to your (Best Western South) hotel in Ridgeland, South Carolina.

Every member of the hotel staff was kind and courteous throughout our 4 day stay, even in the face of multiple stressors. When the effects of Matthew took out the electricity and water, they went above and beyond to make us as comfortable as possible, providing drinking water, breakfast bags and survival tips (how to flush a toilet with swimming pool water.)

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Cedar Bluff Inn on N. Peters Rd. In Knoxville, TN. on Sept. 30, 2016 for one evening while on a trip.I realized I inadvertently left a sentimental necklace there after we left the next morning and immediately phoned the front desk. Debbie sent housekeeping to our room and called me back to say they had found it. They kept it at the desk for me and returned it a little while ago as we stopped there when returning from our trip. I can't say enough good praise for Debbie and the wonderful staff at this Best Western. Thank you all again!!😀

I would like to make a comment on the wonderful, extremely helpful, warm hospitality I and my family received at the Quincy Adams, Best western Inn. Our stay at this Inn was made so enjoyable by the front desk receptionist .Unfortunetly I only know her first name which is Kim. The Inn's location is in Quincy, Massachusetts. The wait staff for the Morining buffet was helpful and soft mannered.. Shuttle service to the airport was fast and assistance with luggage was appreciated. First and upmost the the front desk receptionist, Kim was instrumental in my desion to stay in this location in the future when business requires. I believe the Best Western Corporation has great reason to take Pride in this wonderful employee.
Thank you,
From a happy consumer.

We recently stayed at the Best Western in San Clemente - Casa Blanca Inn and wanted to let you know of an outstanding employee. Her name is Ana and was in charge of the breakfast area every morning. We were there 3 nights and every morning she did a remarkable job of taking care of all our needs. The food was fantastic and she was very thorough in keeping all areas clean and tables wiped down. AND always with a friendly smile. Great job Ana. I would def stay here again. Thanks.

We stayed at the Best western Sawmill up in Overgaard Arizona the week end of May 25 thru May 30th and I can say with out a doubt that I was thankful for the Manager David Bhqkta. We had car trouble and had to stay in Overgaard at the Best Western Hotel there. Our cats stayed in the van and for the 6 days that we were there David made sure we had transportation to get to feed the kitties. David and his wife went the extra miles to help us they even took us to the store to get some cloths that we needed and stayed with us when ever we feed the kitties and brought us back to the hotel.. And we are very grate full for the help. Thank you David Bhqkta and Best Western. We have never had such great service in a crises Thank you.

I stayed at BW at the Vines in Napa, CA. The customer service was excellent. The hotel is next to Denny's and BW gives you a 15% off coupon if you dine there. The room was extremely clean with updated decor, big TV, internet, coffee bar, organic shampoo/conditioner/soap, fluffy pillows, and soft bed. I was surprised that their continental breakfast was skimpy compared to other BWs.

There is a maintenance man that works at the Best Western in Lockport, New York on Transit Rd. He is stalking me, I cannot give you my name because I'm afraid, I was told he has mood swings and is unstable. I want to make you aware of this before he harms someone. Thank you for your attention, he is about 5'10 dark hair cut short and brown eyes sometimes glasses. He always waits at the front desk for me in the mornings and stalks my vehicle.

I recently was hired as housekeeper at your best Western in West Siloam springs, Oklahoma , I was disgusted at the linen and pillows and never enough towels or sheets to do my job. And I take pride in my work I was referred to as a drug addict "tweaker" from the head housekeeper that was an uncalled for statement, and tmouth language from her every other word was even in front of customers they didn't care not professional at all in that hotel.maybe you should do more than an inspection on the rooms but on the people who work there no wonder they can't keep people its awful. So I quit I will not be referred to as a tweaker, and never enough supplies to work with

Here are a few tips for dealing with Best Western from a former employee:

Contact info: General reservations (any BW hotel can be booked via this number)or World wide reservations: If you need to speak with the hotel directly, Go to www.bestwestern.com and type in your destination city and the information for each hotel will pull up and you can get the direct number off the site. Beware of 3rd party search engines that try to make you think you are on the actual bestwestern site. Many times these are small "travel agent booking sites" that want the hotel to pay a commision and they fake as though they are officially appointed by the hotel or headquaters to book these rooms. BE VERY SLOW TO GIVE YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION OUT!!!

***If you call the direct hotel to book, you may or may not get an email confirmation (most dont send one). Each hotel has there own policy on cancellation and booking requirements, so be sure to ASK what that policy is because the employees at the direct hotel may or may not be required to state all the info during the booking process.

****ALL CORPORATE or 800# (the number above) are REQUIRED to give you booking and cancellation policy and fee info BEFORE they hit CONFIRM on the reservation, and they are REQUIRED to send you an email confirmation or incases where the CUSTOMER declines email, they are REQUIRED to read you the FULL policy verbatum. In either case,Buyer Beware.

***Corporate employees work FOR the direct hotels. They do not work AT the hotels. this means that they will not know everything pertaining to your destination; Who Jenny at the front desk is, what room number is the best or about the restaurant next door...etc.

The job of the corporate employee is to handle call overflow. (So you do have to wait forever for the one poor sould behind the desk to take your call, serve your speacial requests or get pulled away from serving guests that are already in house)

The 800 reps are there to assist you in find rates (they have access to various rates including corporate rates that the hotel does not have), and most importantly, they are there to ensure that the hotel does not lose a sale because they do not have enough in-house staff to both answer your call and service the guests that are already in house.

For example: If Bill a the front desk has to spend 20 minutes checking in Cathy who has 500 questions about the area and a long list requirements for staying 4 hours at the hotel (retrieving her 12 extra towels, pillows, blankets and bottles of shampoo..etc); Bill can focus on serving Cathy while the 1-800 rep takes calls to book other rooms and answer short, general questions from other potential customers.

1)ALL Best Westerns are INDEPENDENTLY owned & operated. This means that you should lodge your complaints with the owner or managers of the hotel you actually stayed in. Calling corporate offices will only result in a case file being opened on your behalf, and someone from headquaters will call the hotel for you in an attempt to resolve (mediate) the issue on your behalf.

2)Slow down and be aware of what your are buying. When booking your reservations, take a few extra minutes (or seconds) to listen to the disclaimers; The cancellation policy, the terms for billing and take advantage of the "are there any other questions" section nd ask more questions. People want to rush through a booking just to be done and miss very important info pertaining to the booking.

3)The calls to the 800 number are recorded. When you hang up on a rep or rush them to speak fast just so you can get back to your day, just know that when you call back to cancel and it's too late, any charges you get are on you and the hotel is leagally backed up.

The end script on EVERY CALL reads as follows:

Additional taxes or fees may apply, a VALID credit card is required at check in, if there are any additional questions, please contact THE HOTEL directly. Change or CANCEL your reservation before 4pm, or 6PM hotel time on(insert date) to AVOID a charge to your credit card. In cases where it will be too late to cancel (usually same day reservations or special discounted rates), the script will CLEARLY state that it is too late to cancel. In advance purchase cases, it is what it is; an ADVANCED PURCHASE people. It will CLEARLY express that your credit card WILL be charged in advance for your stay. In most cases, these will be too late to cancel, and the email confirmation will say so.

4)If you do not like to read, can't read or have poor reading comprehension skills, then call the 800 number to book the reservation, and let the representative read and explain the information and policy to you. The policy will still be sent to you via email or fax to go over for yourself. If you don't want the email, each rep is still required to go over it.

5) Now, if you call the 800 number for the policy to be read for you, don't be a flippant, ignorant, rambling fool, who is just trying to give the rep a hard time. This will not benefit you as it is your money that is being put on the line, not the reps money.

A)The rep on the 800 number is more likely to work with you on finding a good rate, and they have no interest or motivation to harm you. They are not commisioned sales reps, so they will be paid whether you listen or not, and wheter you are nice or not or whether you book or not.

B)They work for the hotels and not the direct customer. What does this mean for you? Well, since the rep works for the hotels, the hotel is the one who puts the rates up for the rep to see. The highest rates are the ones that the hotel will list in the booking system first and require the rep to quote it. If you do not like a rate, ASK for the cheapest rate you they can find you and just say so up front to cut down on time. If you saw a rate on some internet site, just tell the rep what it is so they can see if they can match it or go lower. They have to search the rates because the highest rate will be the one that the hotels lists for them to see first and all other rates are coded. it's more complexed than people know.

C) Just cause you saw it on Booking.com or Expedia for x amount, does not meant that you got the better deal. You better ask some more questions or learn to read fine print. For example, many of those sites charge booking and cancellation fees, have layered cancel policies and you will need to go through them to make your cancellation or honor your room type request...neither the hotel nor the corporate staff are required by law to honor anything you were "promised" via the third party site. Mcdonalds does not have to honor Burger King's menu offerings or prices. Your are doing business with that third party and therefore you are THEIR customer. The hotel is only responsible for you after you arrive and the experience that you have while physically on their property.

Summation:

The hotel-and I mean the owner/manager(not the poor front desk staff), are the ones you need to get your complaints to and should take issue with if things don't go as promised or expected.

YOU (all of us) are responsible to find out all information by doing our due dilligence before purchasing any product or service.

Time is money. Take a little more time and get all the information you need before handing over your credit card information and personal address information to anyone. You will save more money and more time later since you won't be saddle with the "run around" and fees because things went wrong.

As an ex-employee, I can say that all Best Westerns are indepenantly owned and operated. Best Western only sells them the use of the name and handles online booking. The real problem is that Best Western says they have standards, yet has crooked employees who call and warn the facility that they will be there at an exact time to do their surprise inspections. The hotels simply put the worst rooms in as out of order, booked, or rented (or actually rent them out) to keep them from being seen. Best Western does not get involved in employee disputes, even in the frequent cases of illegal activity and abuse.

I have been an employee of Best Western for 2 years and I myself do not agree with many of the policies. What many guests need to understand is that Best Western is just a brand. They are not even franchised hotels but rather memberships. The hotels are all individually owned by people that live on the property. Best Western does not regulate how the employees are treated or paid. This means many of the employees are paid at minimum wage. Best Western International ( the best Western Corporation) then puts mandatory positions that the employees must fill and go to seminars to perform. This happened to me. I had to become versed in sales with extra duties and no extra pay. My employer has broken many laws such as race and sexual discrimination as well as shorting my hours automatically so I am not paid for all the time I am there, regardless of state laws. I have been made to charge guests (loyal and frequent guests) extra and when it came time to inform the guests of the extra charges my managers vanish. There are inspectors that come to inspect the quality of rooms and breakfast.. but no one has ever been from Best Western International to inspect the employee and employers. It would be hard to expect quality customer service from people that arent trained and paid correctly. I have been sexually harassed and treated very poorly by guests. The guests were talked to but then were allowed to stay in the hotel, and I still had to serve them. It is sad how much work I've done for that hotel with no benefits, no holiday pay, shorted on overtime, while my employers are profiting 10s of thousands of dollars on a monthly average. Its a shame.
