I was unknowingly charged a renewal which I didn't want. I did not see that it automatically sets you up for auto renewal or i would have turn it off in the beginning when I signed up. I didn't receive an email letting me know of renewal. Your no refund policy sucks plus you charged me double. Why would I ever pay 60.00 for your website it's not worth it. I expect a refund. I will spread the word how unreasonable this website is through all social media I know to not to sign up for classmates.com.

YOUR OFFICES N WORKERS SUCK BIGTIME!!! paid via PayPal n after your team lied PP denied me any claim for my $$$ THEN classmates takes 3-4 days to even respond telling me they're with PP n no refund!!!!! WTF?????? scam from garbage workers! well know this this entire episode has been shown on Facebook n Instagram n next will even be the newspapers, just to show them how LAZY INCOMPETENT workers are at their best! Jackie Reagan [email protected] you owe me $21.60

This website practices does automatic rebilling. No option for one time subscriptions. Can not cancel your account and have all info removed from date of cancellation. You need to remember to change your billing to non automatic after you register to stop auto billing. But your info will still be visible untill your last subscription expires. You will still receive emails and advertisements.

January 20, 2021, Classmates.com charged my account for $18.00 for a one-year subscription to Classmates.com. On September 24, 2021, I was charged $36.00. On September 24, 2021, I was charged $96.00 to my financial institution. Per my account billing and payments, my account type is 24 months, and my renewal option was listed as manual renewal. I only gave my credit card on January 20, 2021. This is credit and / or debit card fraud making unauthorized charges to financial institutions. In the past I enjoyed Classmates.com; however, unfortunately I now realize that Classmates.com is a SCAM. Same old story, over and over again.

My profile states I have an account code of 24 month. Two years ago I enjoyed using Classmates when planning for a high school reunion. Classmates charged my financial institution $18.00 for what I thought was a manual renewal at one year. Classmates charged me $36.00 on September 24, 2021 that I did not authorize period. Twenty four months later on September 24, 2023, I was charged $96.00 a recurrent payment from September 24, 2021. ACCOUNT INFORMATION
Account type: 24 Month
Expiration date: September 24, 2025
Renewal option: Manual
I do not understand why a 24 account would last from 2021 to 2025, four years. There is NO WAY to cancel the subscription online. Other reviews state users called to cancelled their subscriptions; however, their account is never cancelled. I paid on Pay Pal; therefore, Pay Pal cancelled my subscrition from there. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CLASSMATES, they are SCAM ARTIST. They are breaking Federal Trade Commission laws for recurrent payments.

You are terrible! Dead classmates reaching out! Give me a break. You are a disgrace!

Despicable operation with business model built upon lies and deceit lacking any useful function. I have been unable to get them to stop sending me "updates" from people I know are dead. Fortunately I cancelled membership long ago as I hear the only way to stop their autobilling is to switch credit cards. I cannot understand how they are allowed to exist as they are in same class as Nigerian bankers and the guys who call pretending to be your grandson needing money.

As many have written reviews about their Experience, I received an offer for three months for $10. There wasn't any mention of an auto renewal in the offer, just 3 months for $10! I received an email from PayPal that I had been charged $21.60 for an auto renewal, I did not sign up for a trial and auto renewal afterwards, it was just 3 months for $10! I have called and completed forms and all they state is that they stand by their no refund policy! What type of customer service is that, NONE!!!!

I tried to close my account ONLINE but was not successful. Also, I believe I am being scammed by an individual on Classmates.

This site is of no good use in finding and communicating with high school friends. It is a sham. I signed up at $30.00 a year and unfortunately gave auto-renewal-which they did at $60.00. I am getting completely out of this site and reporting them to the Attorney General and to Better Bureau for this scam.

I had hoped this was an adult and responsible alternative to Facebook. So far, even after upgrading my account, is the biggest nothing burger I've ever had the misfortune to spend money on! I keep getting tantalizing messages of people visiting my profile, but I can never contact them. I'm beginning to think the corporate owners here have even fewer morals than Zuckenf..ker!

I have called many many times
You guys Don't take any calls
I have tried to call All hours of the day
Just to be told the office is not open
I cancel my account with classmates Three Months ago and your still taking money out of my account. I can't log into my account

WARNING-Classmates.com automatic renewal
I just discovered a charge on my credit card.
I never received a notice of any kind that there was an auto-renewal or that my cost for two years would double from $48 to $96. I contacted them about the charge and they refused to refund me.
If you want to stay with Classmates you should check if you have their auto renewal plan and change it.

I urge anyone with a complaint about classmates.com to file with the Attorney General's office in Washington State where they are located as well as the Better Business Bureau.

Something must be wrong with your web site because it keeps on saying that someone has visited your profile but when I check its always the same 4 in the last year. Please correct or I will need to block the sight as it is an annoyance and time consumptive.

Thanks:

This company STINKS. They set up auto-renewal, not for customer convenience as they try to explain, but because they know most people will forget about auto-renewal over a year's time and then -- ZAP! -- they've charged you for another year with a NO REFUND policy. This is a rip-off company. They clearly know how to EXTORT you and they should be shut down.

Classmates has been charging me 22.00 per month for at least 2 years without being able access their site. What's worse is according to their site they charge only $30 per annum.
Reachability is a joke

This is a despicable company with NO ethics and has no idea what "doing the right thing" is! I joined classmate.com for one year just to try it. I would NEVER have pressed automatic renewal...EVER! I paid $24 the first and only year I wished to sign up for this. One year later I get a $60 charge. I tried calling them and they don't care! They will not reimburse me and there is nothing I can do! From what I am reading on line about them...I am not the only person with this problem! Shameful!

I my bank acct was charged 96.00 to you guys I did not authorize it and I do not know how you got my bank acct i want my money back or I'm taking you people to court for stealing from bank accts

Why is classmate.com still online and emailing random people like myself. I never signed up for it, but yet I am receiving emails every other day.
Haven't you learned by the class action lawsuits you have been in ( Classmate.com ).
I think you need to stop emailing altogether. You are losing in this battle sorry.

I have been on classmates for the past few months & am very disturbed by some very lewd & inappropriate comments by a man on the site. He should be absolutely removed! Does classmates not sensor the people's comments?

Dear Classmates.com
Received a message from someone in my Class of 71 Orchard Park NY. Shame on you idiots. Robert Bender did not send me a message as he was crushed by his dump truck in 1995 when he was 42 years old. What a terrible service you provide that is full of lies

Posted by Anonymous

You tell me former classmates are reaching out to me that have been dead for years!! Unethical and cruel!! You should be shut down!

Posted by Lynn

To solve a stalking type issue they want to charge me!!!! No way I'm not renewing my classmates account.

I was signed up without my knowledge using 10 year old photos of me. If this happens again I'm going to sue them for Identity theft. The website makes it extremely difficult to delete. i had to find an outside link that linked to account deletion. i double checked that it worked and it did but I really hate that i was signed up without my consent or knowledge.

Excellent servise which achieved the reason why I called.

Posted by Kristen (called)

I just called customer service and spoke with Kristen. I called because I canceled my account a while ago, but my profile still comes up when my name is googled. She explained that it's because it's still under a free profile. She said that she would delete it and that it will take a few days for it to be removed. I appreciated how quick and easy it was to get this resolved. I will check in a few days to see if this actually worked.

A positive post regarding customer service: Called to cancel my account due to my family situation. The representative was extremely helpful, pleasant and resolved my issue. The billing charge (24 hours earlier) was refunded. I am a very satisfied ex- customer.f

Working in the industry of customer service for very longtime, I have found alot of people to be very petty when it comes to these matters of complaining over somethings like some of you are. At least 95% of the if you go on the Classmates.com you will be prompted to upgrade if you haven't already. And if and when you do or you did, everything is clearly explained about auto renewal or anything of that nature. There is a way to remove that option as well, but some people clearly don't read what there signing nor do they try to find out how to remove it. They just complain like you all are doing. Then use age as an excuse. I would never do that. Just petty.

I appreciate the fast service and expedite resolve of my inquire when I called your company in mid-July. I did not find anything negative about my entire experience and told you so at the time. Your representative seemed very understanding and cordial.

I have read so many complaints about Classmates.com has charged extra from your bank accounts. This happened to me as well years ago. Trying to get through to Customer Service was so prolonged back then. I finall got through and explained what happened to me. My bank account was credited the next business day. I came up with a solution to avoid all of this hassle. Go to your bank or a store and purchase a prepaid VISA or MASTERCARD. Many banks and stores have deals where you can purchase these prepaid cards for free (no fee to load your card - only pay for amt you wish to be added to the card. Load as little as $20.00 and use this prepaid card to pay for your Classmates.com and other online purchases. Classmates.com is not the only company that this is taking place (overcharging your card), so my suggestion makes sense. With all of the hacking into people's personal info (remember Target customer's were hacked awhile ago), you never want to have your bank debit card left on file for hackers to scam you. With a preset amount on a card, you will no longer be a target for money hungry thieves. I have not read any complaints about the Classmates actual web site - most of these complaints are related to Customer Service. I love Classmates.com and I'm glad I came back.

I called Classmates Customer Service yesterday to reset my password. The lady I spoke with was very cordial and assisted me in a timely manner. I was satisfied with my call. The Customer Service rep sent me an email to my new email address promptly, and I was successful in resetting my password. Thank You Classmates.com Customer Service for your kind demeanor towards me when I called.

Just spoke with a customer service rep. Did not have a long wait. She has corrected a duplicate account for me.

Just checked my bank account and I see Classmates has indeed refunded $38.79 to my account. I have no problems with them. They did what they said they would do. Jim

My experience was different, I called, didn't wait long and cancelled my order with no problem. Now just hoping that there is no charge to my account after this. Wishing everyone Good Luck.

Approximately 50 years I was I was separated from the fraternal side of my family due to a nasty divorce. In February of 2011 Classmates.com had a one week promotion where non-members could read the posting sent to them. I read:
From:Bernard Benson (view profile)
To:Heiman Martin
Sent:February 27, 2011 03:27:45 AM
Subject:Hi, from Bernard!

I'm looking for Martin Heiman who has a sister, Susan, mother, Bernice, father Edward. Originally from Philadelphia, then Los Angeles, and then to Florida. Last name was changed when Bernice re-married and the father adopted the children.
Could you be the Martin I'm looking for? If so, you are my nephew and Susan is my neice.
Please, I'd like to hear from you.

Marian & Bernie Benson

As a result of this posting and my response I was able to re-unite with an entire side of my family who said they had been looking for me for the past 50 years. Thanks Classmates

Just called Customer Service at 206-301-5700 and yes I did have to hold for about 12 minutes but, was taken care of very nicely. My problem is my e-mail address had changed and I was not getting any e-mails from them and forgot about them until I received my bank statement yesterday and saw the charge withdrawn from my account. I called them to update my e-mail address and was given the option of canceling or continuing for $5.00 per month, billing every 3 months. I chose to continue. She e-mailed me a Reset Password to reset so I'm back on and able to receive and check on Classmates.com.

I noticed a credit card charge for membership renewal for my recently deceased husband. I called the number listed on this site and only waited about 5 minutes before a live representative picked up the call. He was EXTREMELY gracious, and told me that he had credited the $39 back to my account and removed my husband's registration. This was exceptionally easy and I felt I should compliment them on this excellent customer service.

For anyone being billed without their consent, call them - I found their number on my statement: 206-301-5900

I called this morning and 'cancelled' what I don't think I ever 'subscribed' to. They say in their terms and agreements, you are signing up for a subscription. Who knew??? Ive been billed for the past 3 years at $39 a year. Never noticed in my statement - its just buried with other bills and at this time of year... who takes the time to scour their statements? good luck to everyone! Call and cancel!

Posted by Kyr-chong

My classmates account was automatically renewed, which I didn't want to do. I emailed them and was told to go online and stop future renewals. I did this but that didn't cancel the one that just started for $39.
After reading all of the negative comments I thought I was going to waste my time calling them to cancel my account. When I called I was pleasantly surprised to talk to someone who could help me. I told them that usually a service will email you to inform you that your account will be renewed unless you want to cancel. I asked to cancel my account and they said OK. They pro-rated my refund which cost me less that a dollar. The money was in my account 3 days later! Good luck.

I called Customer Service today 053012 and spoke with Scott to cancell my subscription. He was very nice and stated that it was billed in May, but will stop on Aug. 28th and will not be billed again. This is a 3 month term. He was very polite and well spoken. I read all the negative comments before I called Classmates.com and I have not had a problem with Customer Service. Scott we neither pushy nor wanted a reason. I hope this turns out well. I will check back on Aug. 28th to make sure that I'm not billed. Thanks Scott.

I had disabled Automatic Renewal last year and, somehow, my account automatically renewed this year, and with a brand new card I haven't registered anywhere! When I called Classmates to complain they of course tried to say I hadn't cancelled automatic renewal, my bank gave them the new card number, etc., but they did agree to a refund. All in all a very amicable call and I had good customer service.

I just called and spoke to Peggy who I cancelled my Account with Classmates as of the expiration date later in the year. I was also given a confirmation number is well as a confirmation e-mail stating that the account will become a free account when the account cancels. Will will have to see, but that does sound legitimate.

Thank you, LeeLyn for the explanation for the settings.
I, too, was just renewed and didn't know it was an automatic renewal. Now I'm on manual and don't plan to renew.

This is for ALL you frustrated people. I had an encounter with MemoryLane/Classmates, just yesterday. I too am FURIOUS with them. Even though it was just a $7.50 trial. Once my credit card information was in, WHAM, it was a done deal. NO WHERE did I get a chance to authorize it. This is what you must do. Go into your ACCOUNT and make sure that you put your services on MANUAL and not AUTOMATIC. Take out any existing credit card information. Just a little lower on that same page, I believe. I was able to get through to a customer rep., on 206-301-5700. Very un-coperative. Don't give yp. I didn't and now am only stuck with 3 months, and they can't charge me another penny. Remember....put yourself on MANUAL. These are the things they don't tell you about but surfing their website, even though it's time consuming and a pain, is worth it !!!!!

I have to update my story - I pursued my complaint with Classmates and argued that in in view of the current economy people may be in completely different financial situations from the time that they originally "agreed" to the automatic renewal and that these days for me 39.00 is a material amount. I also stated that this policy made Classmates a very unfriendly site. Two days later they have credited my card $36.66. I am VERY pleased with their resolution to the matter.

called the number and got thru quickly and was helped very well by a friendly customer support rep...
