Craigslist seems to endorse serious fraud, by taking no accountability in their adds. I have found in looking for leases more fraudulent adds then good ones, and more scams for companies for "no money down loans" in the rental lease area then legit adds
In the Job market I am being sent thousands of dollars worth of fraudulent checks by Secret Shopper employers, and Personal assistant employers who claim in their posts to be offering jobs but are really trying to get you to cash bad checks... OR They ask for your personal information to do a background check ... Not everyone does the math in desperate times looking for work, suspecting this is what is really happening on Craigslist!
I have applied for many posts coming back with this I flag more then I get a good post...
AND WE WONDER HOW A WOMAN WAS KILLED?
Craigslist needs to step up and properly monitor their site. It should not be up to the consumer, customers, and patrons.aueproductions@aol.com 2/5/10 3:50AM

I have been trying for three days to post an ad. I have been through what is described below. Gotten verification number (X 2) then created ad, seen ad, had ad appear then never appear again. Gone, poof, no postings. I have emailed the "helpcraigslist" 5 times now. No response. Nada. I haven't tried calling but will. However, given the comments all ready posted here, not holding my breath. Anonymous 1/29/10 11:55AM

and now...it deletes your phone number you put in the ad to have people contact you at! You go to their bill number and once you pull it up, their number is deleted as well....like you cant get ahold of them, so we emailed them, and it bounced back to us!!! I found an 800 # on here, hopefully we can get this resolved.
Other than that, if it doesnt, we wont have a use for craigslist anymore either!your momma 1/29/10 7:30AM

I have worked for some of the largest internet companies in the nation and Craigslist has the worst customer service I have seen. I am trying to respond to an ad and now multiple ads and I continue to get error codes and I proceeded to send an email and that was more than 48 hours ago and no response. The answer was not available online so what does one do, wait until they decide to get their act together? I called the 800 number and they refer you to the online help!
When will these companies find out that they need to take care of the little people because their are a lot of little people with mouths and bad words can hurt a bottom line and the stockholders! Any suggestions?Anonymous 1/21/10 3:02PM

I am so frustrated right with Craigslist right now. This ad posting site is supposed to be a frequently used and very popular site, right? Where is the professionalism? Where is the product for my $25 fee to post? I have tried to pay with every credit card in my office... including my own. They have all been declined. I called "customer service" to see if they could help me or take my payment. The girl who answered sounded like she had just woken up and had a mouthful of marbles. She told me the address was wrong for ALL three credit cards I had tried, including my own. She said the only resolution would come when I faxed them my credit card statement so they could verify the address. After that, it would take 3 hours to fix and would require no further action on my part (my words....her words were barely audible). Checking this morning...no ad. Do you not want my money Craigslist? Anonymous 1/13/10 10:36AM

I use to be able to post on Craig's List and just all of a sudden I can't; I get a stupid verify your account by phone message and when I follow the steps I get an error message that says that my number is already used by another account! WTF? I have emailed them but never get a response. I try calling them but they are closed by the time I get off of work and call them. djsoss 1/5/10 8:28PM

I have tried several times to post an ad on Craigslist. Each time I enter all the information. You ask for my telephone number and call me back with a passcode to enter. I enter the passcode and you say congratulations you have an ad. IT NEVER POSTS TO CRAIGS LIST.
I have emailed and asked for help but I never get a answer. I have asked other people and they say it's very hard to get posted. My friend had help with four people trying to advertist on Craigs list. He finally thought he had an ad but again it did not post. The account just says NO Posting listed.

I had an ad posted on Craigslist that was accepted and remained on Craiglist until I make a minor detail change. I changed the spelling of one word. I then deleted the ad and re-posted it. The ad was again accepted then minutes later I received an email that it had been "flagged and deleted". I could not find any violations or infractions of Craigslist policies. When I called Craigslist, I was told to send an email to abuse@craiglist.org. The response to my email was that the email had been received and someone would get back to me. That never happened. I was also told to join the Craigslist forum to seek help on what could have happened? The next time I called the (800) # at Craigslist to report the incident, a rather arrogant young man explained that when an ad is "flagged and deleted", it means that other Craiglist users had flagged and deleted my ad and hat there was nothing that Craiglist could do about it! I waited five days then re-posted the ad. Same thing happened. I received a confirmation of posting, then minutes later. In just want Craigslist to offer customer service that will investigate the problem and offer a solution. I have been an avid user of Craigslist as a user, but I am frustrated by the lack of competent customer service and solutions to problems. l.batchelor 12/26/09 6:18AM

Unhappy customer! Craigslist.com employees are very rude to potential customers. I will never use or visit craigslist again. Also I am going to blog them into submission for being such jerks!

Update on the ongoing (or, should I now say, almost-never-ending) deletions of my computer ad. I called craigslist today, via the above-listed 1-800 number, and I attempted to explain to the woman who answered the problems I've been going through. Her solution to me...go to the craigslist forums, and look for possible answers there, and if that didn't work, have someone else look over my ad to see if there was anything in it that could lead to its being deleted. I explained (or, at least attempted to explain, which I'll get to in a minute) that I HAD already looked into the forums, and there was NOTHING indicating any craigslist policies which my ad had broken. And as for having someone look over my ad, I explained to her, for the second time, that I had ALREADY done so, and there was NOTHING wrong with my ad.
At this point, I was getting extremely frustrated, to say the least, and told her that she, obviously, hadn't listened to me. She reiterated that I should return to their forum, and look for answers there, and that, just as the person last week had said, there was nothing they could do about it. She told me I could either keep re-posting the ad, or I could just stop porting it. Trying to get her to understand that this was how I made my extra income, and that this was my only form of advertising, I began to get even more frustrated with her, to which she said she was going to put me on hold, and would return "when she could". In this case, that meant never. I waited on hold for almost 10 minutes, yet, as I suspected, she never returned. She just left me sitting there, on hold.
Having worked in customer-service-related fields for quite a number of years, this is NOT what can be considered "service". In truth, it is more of a customer "Dis-service". Once again, I suggest a civil suit against them, but a class-action suit would have far greater repercussions, in regards to how they do business, than individual suits. As such, I've already started searching out possible firms to handle such a case, but in order for it to obtain "class-action" status, a certain minimum number of people will be required. Once again, my contact is blackcat_systems@live.com. If you are interested in participating in this matter against craigslist, please contact me at your earliest convenience. The more information I have to pass on to whoever is willing/interested in taking on this case, the better.Panther68 12/4/09 3:08PM

@ Dan
When you say, "can't communicate with you", who, specifically, are you referring to? Craigslist? Me? Someone else? It helps to know. If it's craigslist, I haven't had any success in the past trying to resolve problems via e-mail, which is why I had to start resorting to calling them.
The 1-800 number is valid, and, on average, about every 1 out of 3-4 calls you can actually get through to a live person, but I haven't had much luck (if any, at all) dealing with the few customer service people they have. While I can't say if he was telling the truth, or lying, according to the last person I spoke with, the 'company' only has 30-40 employees, which is why, supposedly, they're not equipped to handle, or make changes, to most of the problems that people like us have been having. As far as I'm concerned, it sounds like a crock of s***, with a meaning of nothing more than to try and get people to stop complaining.Panther68 12/4/09 1:09PM

To everyone...and I do mean EVERYONE...who has had problems in the past, currently having problems, or may have problems in the future, if you are posting ads, and they are constantly getting removed (possibly by being flagged, and possibly by craigslist staffers themselves, although they will probably never inform you of such, if they are doing so), I have a possible solution...read on.
It seems that, like myself, there have been, and continue to be, a substantial number of people posting ads on craigslist which keep getting deleted. While some of the ads getting deleted are of varying posts (meaning, within a single individuals account), quite a large number of them, mine included, are the exact same ad(s), even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ad(s), nor do(es) it/they go against ANY craigslist policies. For example, I run a super-incredibly small business out of my home, typically building 1-3 units per month (although I might go 1-2 months without building any, and I might have as many as 6 in a single month). The point is, I rely entirely on my craigslist ad for my only real source of advertising, but being that, since Nov. 2, only one posting has successfully made it to its expiration date, with 19 having been deleted (supposedly due to being flagged), there is OBVIOUSLY a problem.
I've contacted craigslist about this, and according to the person I spoke with, the only thing I can do is to continue to re-post the ad. The problem with this is, it takes 15 minutes from the time I post the ad until it gets posted online, and (typically) within 45 minutes, and sometimes as quickly as 15 minutes, I find it deleted. While it is possible (although I doubt it) that it is getting deleted due to excessive flagging, this would require a sort-of "group effort", or a single person flagging the same ad many, many times.
Technically, or, should I say, legally-speaking, whatever is the cause of our ads getting deleted, be it externally, through flagging, or internally, if no craigslist policies have been broken, this is a form of harassment, and while craigslist likes to say there's nothing they can do about it, in truth, they know they could...IF they wanted to. Additionally, being that this is, legally-speaking, a form of harassment, and craigslist is enabling this, thus making them an accessory, that means that craigslist can legally be sued for harassment. This can be done in one of two ways. They can either be sued individually by each person who has gone through, or is going through, the same type of harassment problem I described, or we could band together and file a class-action suit against them.
Personally, I've already decided to contact a lawyer and check into filing a lawsuit against them, as my business relies on the advertising I have always done through craigslist. I've posted my ads, without any problems, on & off, for the past several years, as well as continuously for the past 8 month, but it's only been during these past five weeks that almost every ad I've posted had been deleted. If you're interested in suing them, either individually, or partaking in a class-action suit against then, you can contact me at blackcat_systems@live.com.
If it is decided to pursue a class-action suit, the more people involved, the better chance we will have. Individual suits can prove useful, but in terms of time involved, as well as difficulty, they have been known to be more trouble than they're worth. For this reason, I'd say, going the class-action route would be the better idea. They are easier to deal with, less time-consuming for all involved, and, in the great majority of cases, ends will better results for all involved.Panther68 12/2/09 11:16PM

I followed the horrible instructions which are incomplete and full of 'take your best guess crap'. So typical of all computer crap. I set up an account but when I try to go to it my password, and I know my password, craiglist says does not exist. I found my ad and wanted to re-post it but craiglist made it impossible.sellwoodsteve 10/26/09 8:01AM

two concerns here
1. post on adult site gets constantly deleted by craigslist. they will not post even when i do not put a picture up. however, other girls post half naked and theirs get posted. there is no consistency.
2. never get refunded my $10.00
i will eventually issue a warrant to their registered agent to appear in court. ive done it before with company's. ill do it with them. Its realle easykandis 10/23/09 10:55AM

Craigslist customer service is the worst ever!! I talked to three reps trying to get my money back for five ads that they removed of mine for no reason on one of thier pay areas. They told me they did not know why they were taken down, but that they would not refund my $50. I will never advertise there again. There reps need to go through classes to learn how to speak to clients. When you ask to speak with a manager they tell you no!! What kind of customer service is that? babysierra 9/22/09 11:43AM

I've had an account for over a year and have listed 20 or 30 items for sale with no problems.
Now when I try to post an ad, it goes through fine and it even shows green(active) in my account summary, but it never gets to the actual listing for public view. Craigslist's idea of helping is to reply with the boilerplate FAQ that dosen't help at all. There's even no way to cancel your account and start another new one!!!
