  • This company is bad very bad with customer service and they are a waste of time for anyone to try to contact them.
They should be shut down alltogeter!

  • Customer service is horrible. If you have a problem you are SOL. My biggest complaint is you use their site and sale items and that part is great except you are allowed to flag a ad and they delete it without question. This is wrong because I will say that 90% of the ads are good ads but if someone is selling somthing similar they flag your ad and delete it. That is wrong. They need to justify why the ads is wrong. I know its free but if they put forth some effort they might get a better reputation and even make money. I would pay to use the site but not when you can delet anyones ad without question.

  • I had 3 email accounts. One of them suddenly asked for a phone verification however it kept saying that it was associated with another account. Whatever the problem was I called Craigslist...didn't get any where with customer support...BUT immediately after hanging up all 2 of the accts are immediately on hold and the other while it seems to have disappeared is apparently still active since if I try to recreate it the system says its already there..AND ALL CRAIGSLIST CUSTOMER SUPPORT CAN TELL ME IS TO EMAIL THEM THE PROBLEM.....WHAT KIND OF B--L S--T IS THAT.

  • Craig's is having a lot of problems these days.

I mostly post apartment rentals and have had a craigslist account for over a year. Recently when posting a listing i have had the reset password forced on me AFTER i entered my ad and previewed it. Bam there is the reset password link where the captcha should be.

I reset the password and then are told my phone number needs to be verified which does not work. The call or text message never comes. There used to be an option to call for verification but it's been removed from Craig's phone system prompts.

I know it's free and there are problems with spammers, but this system that does not work is punishing legitimate users of Craigslist.

  • I joined craigslist about 2 weeks ago to sell some furniture since I am moving in a month - bought a digital camera to post pics - posted about 5 ads - came back today to repost and add some new ones - they say I need phone verification - so I spent all day trying to do it and now they say I requested it too much - but they never sent it to me. Can't set up a new account cause now they have my phone number in their system - and I am not going to get a new phone number since I am moving in a month - until I move for pities sake! I know people who post hundreds of items and never have any problem - I am totally disgusted! I can't even access their forums. They only give a 5 minute window to do the phone verification - not long enough and how are you supposed to get it and write it down? I don't understand why they don't verify some easier way. They just suck!!

  • I have sent 83 emails to craigslist only to be sent to a website that my computer claims has a virus. Never once contacted.Craigslist is minus customer service. Not one return email asking me for help. If you own a business seek else where to send your money for customers

  • I have posted rental ads on DC Craigslist for over six years, and have had no problems until now. Now, it asks for phone authentication (they used to use the character entry as on this site). I have entered the data requested several times, but no phone call with a code. They have an automated email response. There is absolutely no way to get through to them and no way to get my ad posted. I suspect foul play, but I don't know and can't tell. I'm thinking of filing a Federal law suit of discrimination. Anyone else want to join in?

  • might i just add, that Craigslist has an "F" rating on the Better Business Bureau website? with 68 complaints not being responded to?

Isn't there SOMEONE out there that can make a site just like Craigslist, but have it function better?

  • Im more than frustrated after a week of trying to get some answers from the emails I have sent to adultservices@craigslist.org and legal@craigslist.org. I am a licensed massage therapist trying to post a very tame and legal post in adult services and keep getting rejected. The post was approved once and when it expired I tried to run it again and it was rejected. So I revised again and again, being rejected at least 10 times, even had my attorney review it to confirm there were no violations of CL guidlines and there is NOT.I am shocked at what you allow here yet reject MY legal post. There are so many posts up that are totally blatant offering a price for 30 min of pleasure, escorting, etc...yet MINE does none of that, I even put a disclaimer on one of my submissions stating "I offer a legal service and I am a certified MT" STILL GOT REJECTED!! NO one is willing to even give the courtesy of a reponse and let me know what the problem is. Can anyone tell me the next step i can take before following through with legal action? Customer service cant talk about this section and wont refer me to anyone. So now what?

  • c.l. is a joke. It's run by people/users with flagging software to take down and harass any one they want, that software is used on the site and DOSE work not matter what c.l. says.the post slanderous post about you and c..l. takes forever to take it down if ever Even if you report it. After you get flagged so many times your blocked. i didn't ask for this sick predatory system to put all the other places to advertise out of business. I would venture to say this is some kind of government black opp to put the small guys out of business. all of a sudden "free advertisement" who can do that? I wish they would go away

  • Someone hijacked my Craigslist Acct & changed my password. An email notice was sent to me saying if I did not authorize the change to click on a link below which had misspelled Craigslist (so it obviously was not Craigslist). I emailed Craigslist HELP Line but no response. I get another email saying that my posting for Dallas TX was successful for what appears to be a boat--i don't have a boat and I did not post this ad. Alarmed I called 800-664-0633 to report-no one answered just a recording with confirmation #. Then I get a response from Craigs List that my account is temporarily suspended and if I do not respond it will be permanently terminated. Once I get this matter cleared up I WILL NEVER USE CRAIGSLIST AGAIN and I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO USE IT!!!!

  • I have a tech support based question. I emailed your company yesterday and so far I have gotten no answer. I called your 800 number today to try to actually find a real person to help me out. I was told by one of your jerk off sounding custeomer service people that there is nothing they could do for me, even though I told them that I did email your company about my problem. All I want to do is to find out how I can create a link/attactment on my racine kenosha craigslist furniture ad to photos. So far thanks for nothing. Mark Hansen

  • They really have a terrible attitude and poor communication towards paid ad posters. They get great traffic so we are forced to use craigslist, but what a pain it is to deal with this company. Hopefully backpage.com grows in traffic, as that company has an understanding of customer service. Craigslist acts without logic, or anything you can define....its basically a crapshoot on your posts, and your hard work can be deleted or held up for no paricular reason. not a company that can be counted on for posting jjobs.

  • Craigslist helpdesk totally unresponsive
continually puts accounts on hold temporarily
not sure what that means but i have accounts on hold for months and monst ask the help desk and they never respond. also says cant change accounts validated with phone number for 90 days I have had accounts in this situation for almost a year. then when it asks for your account and password says password is not valid. What a bunch of BS there has to be something better

  • Any and everyone that keeps getting flagged...It is the volunteers they have at their help desk. Like I keep saying...I am trying to file a complaint through the BBB and Attorney General, and anyone else I can do it with. If you all can please do the same thing and make your complaint resolution as I want contacted by an executive or legal department. This might get the point across to them. Most of all this will only happen if everyone does it not just me. I filed a complaint and just want contacted by an executive that has some authority around there. After they receive these messages then maybe the point will be taken from them...Volunteers handle the site while Jim Buckmaster and Craig Newmark collect the profits and sit there laughing at our asses. Come on and help me out. Quit coming here and filing co mplaints that are not legit when you can do it my way and the legal way...

  • I am also in the same situation. My husband and I are really in a hurry to find a rental and I am 100 % sure that my emails are not arriving to the landlords seeking tenants. I have emailed craigslist support for help with figuring out why my emails are not been delivered but of course, no answer at all! Craigslist sucks! I saw an add on the Esquire for Angie's list. I wonder if that is any better:-)

    Pissed at craigslist 8/9/10 9:39PM

  • I had the same experience. My ad simply does not appear in any searches. I sent three e-mails with no response to any of them. I finally found the 800# but was told they do not offer any technical support and to e-mail yet again and wait for a reply. I have been banging my head against the wall trying to resolve this. NOT WORTH IT. Craigslist is worthless if they offer no customer support. Now I know why they are being investigated for supporting teenage prostitution. I hope they nail them.

    Anonymous 8/9/10 3:25PM

  • First, I submitted an ad to sell a vehicle. I complied very carefully with their parameters of what to state in the ad and all the stuff not to do. After being sure my ad was ready and was complying with their rules I submitted it to Craigslist.org. Later that same day I received an email stating that my ad was flagged (and removed). No reason is ever given, just that your ad has been pulled, flagged, whatever.Sure enough it had been pulled, but they made a gross error and attributed an item to me that I was not selling. This was a clear error on their part and I emailed them to clear this up and find out why my ad was yanked. I submitted several emails and waited for over a week and they had still not contacted me. I looked all around the site for additional ways to contact them all to no avail. After about a week had passed I decided to get proactive. I Googled their contact info and came up with a phone number. I called it, and after a long wait I got to a phone rep. I asked about my problem and she rudely told me "We don't offer help for free ads!" I asked her where do I go to resolve this? She parroted back the same line and hung up on me mid-sentence!

Realizing that I would probably never hear from them again, I reworded the ad and reposted it again. They took it off again with no explanation given. I tried countless times again to reach them fruitlessly. They don't even send a canned response. Nothing! I have an account with this sleazy online company with erroneous information on it that is preventing me from selling anything on their site and I am completely unable to reach them. I decided to do a little further investigation on customer's reviews. Wow! There was a ton of exceptionally negative and passionate reviews absolutely excoriating them! This is clearly a company with a serious customer dis-service problem! This company needs to be brought to task on this issue. To say that they have customer service is a complete lie.

They also ignored my reporting of fraudulent offers! I got a flood of fraudulent replies to the ad for the short time it did appear on their site (roughly 8 To 1!). They even accused me of fraudulent activity! Craigslist is a haven for massive fraud! Let me repeat that... CRAIGSLIST IS A HAVEN FOR MASSIVE FRAUD!

Please do something about this rotten company! Thank you very much.

  • I find it very hard to limit my comment to CL customer service because I have never received any such service from them.

I am an independant service provider and post ads on CL. At first it was great everything was working I followed all of their rules and my ads generated a great deal of business for me.

Unfortunately I guess I was doing to well and others not wishing compete fairly with me started a flagging war.

I was flagged down instantly and constantly. I tried going to other sites but unfortunately they didn't generate nearly as much business as my CL ads did.

I contacted CL repeatedly pleading with them to please help me with this targeted harrassment. My 20 emails were ignored. Even when I informed them I was threatened on the phone by one of my competitors that I had to work for him or he would flag all of my ads. I of course told this guy to shove it up his @$$. I then forwarded this information to CL along with the companies name and phone #. Nothing was done. My ads were flagged constantly.

I resorted to setting up multiple CL accounts and then simply posted a new ad everytime mine was flagged. I was posting over 20 ads a day battling these attacks. I got a few friends of mine to help me flag down the competitors ads. This worked and they started to leave me alone until suddenly it would ignore flags that originated from our IPs. I guess we triggered a filter. It is just as well because coordinating the counter-attacks with my friends was extremely time comsuming.

With no other options I decided to join the dark side. With a little hunting I was able to locate Automated CL flagging software. You just paste the URL in the window and boom....the ad gets flagged. So for $300 bucks and cost of web hosting for a year I now have the god power that so few enjoy.

With my new toy all set up I went to war. Everytime my ad goes down....I take their's down. With in 4 days.....guess what? My ads don't go down anymore.

I now post my ads where ever I want, as much as I want. CL can stick there rules where the sun doesn't shine. Anyone that doesn't like what I do.....too bad. Piss me off and I won't let you post again.

So I guess I'm one of the few stories that has a happy ending...no thanks to CL customer service.

Just for the record I used to be a nice person. But CL nice people finish last!

    Anonymous 8/5/10 3:40AM

  • Please read my comment and file a complaint with the BBB and the Attorney General. If everyone works in numbers we can take this Jim Buckmaster down off his worthless piss of crap throne and get rid of CL once and for all...If anyone needs the address and info just contact me or just google Craigslist "contact info" and you will find it...Remember people that if we work in numbers and the more complaints to these to places then they are going down. It is my vendetta to get this piece of crap off of the internet...Contact me a john9571@msn.com if you have any questions at all....Thanks and let's get this ball rolling ASAP.

  • Craigslist is a virus on the world... worst customer service ever.

    Fuck CL 8/4/10 10:39AM

  • I feel like asking, "is there anyone out there?" Someone has to be responsible for CL, but they must be in hiding. Flagging in Columbus GA area. Furniture dealers cannot get ads on CL due to a flagging war of some crazy person with nothing better to do. Someone needs to start and bigger and better listing, giving this CL a run for their money.

    Anonymous 8/3/10 9:31AM

  • I find CL ineffective in controlling the many people who flag for likely no other reason than boredom or maybe they see you as competition or something.?

Regardless of all that..I found no satisfaction in calling them about this, and a very blunt individual whom only seemed concerned about paying customers...

Also, Apparently it really doesn't matter what you do or say on CL, you can slander, accuse, Malign or trash anyone or anything you like, And whats even more unbelievable is that don't even protect paying customers from flaggers..lol..its pure internet classifieds run a muck..plain and simple..

    notimpressed 8/2/10 10:39AM

  • I am contacting the BBB in San Francisco and also contacting the Attorney General's office to pursue my issue of a little punk teenager that got mad at my post (which nothing was aimed anyone but trying to get info on contacting CL) and found my personal resume online and then posted it on CL feedback site for EVERYONE to see, and also a person answering my post for my truck for sale and you go to the link and it is a malicious site trying to steal information. I contacted CL by abuse email and no response and then called them and was told I have to email them no matter what issue I have. I then emailed them to ask why I have not been contacted and then the same for the malicious email and still no response. What is the point on having a Customer Service phone number if they do not care what you say unless you are a paying customer. I would like to have everyone that has a complaint on CL to contact the BBB and Attorney General for a complaint because one person will not make a difference. Please feel free to email me if you are going to do something about it the way I am...Time to take action on owner Jim Buckmaster of CL who just sits back and rakes in his money and laughs at the people who actually make his site happen...Please everyone take some action also...

  • It's very unfortunate that you can't help people, such as myself, who are finding that there's a "glitch" with their free ad. Your operator was polite, but simply offered no help at all except to say "It's our policy not to help you." I would have paid Craigslist just to get some assurance that, in fact, the ad is posting. Your email prompts give me every indication that my ad posted. The problem is that I can never find my posting no matter what I do.

I was bale to speak with someone on the phone this afternoon, who by the way was not very helpful, but did not help to solve the issue I am having. What about the e-mails that I have sent that have NEVER gotten a response? Thank you craigslist! Why don't you just like the visitors run the website, because the only thing that seems t be fully functional about it is that people buy/sell through one another. What does support do for any of us? .. Exactly.

    Anonymous 7/20/10 10:08AM

    Anonymous 7/10/10 8:24PM

  • Its a shame that people use your site to sell a product and when someone seriously wants to purchase it, there are issues with your customer service "policies" that you won't even try to get accurate information to the contacts so the purchase can be made. You had me willing to give info. in order to make to correct contact but unwilling to assist. Very frustrating, seems a bit selfish to not want to follow through with your mission of providing a service to those who post to sell an item. Maybe "policies" should be reviewed! They are not working as far as my experience is concerned.

I had the same password and login information for years and now nothing but hassles. When I do a password reset sometimes I will get the update email and sometimes nothing. What is wrong? Anonymous 7/6/10 8:44AM

  • I started using Craigslist a few years ago to post free classified ads to sell a few household items.

I have even bought a few things of which I was pleased, at it was Craigslist where I found those items (Car and Flat Screen LCD Monitor.

But my experience with Craigslist has gone down hill to the pits of hell.

Although I follow all the user policies that
they mandate, I feel that somehow I have been punished by them. Whenever I post an ad, it remains only for a short time and then disappears. Somewhere I read that it is being ghosted, but I cannot understand why that would happen for just one ad.

In the past, some of my posts have been flagged and removed by the community, yet there was absolutely nothing wrong with the ad. Craigslist admits that some 2% of ads get flagged for the wrong reasons. Whatever..

Craigslist ask users to contact them via email or go to the forums for support. CL has never replied back to my emails, and those in the support forums have done nothing more than reply back to me with trashy responses.

All of this is an insult, and I have concluded that CL is a waste of my time which is worth more than trying to place a FREE ad. I would rather pay some other classified ad venue a nominal fee for posting, and have positive results.

It is good that there are alternatives to Craigslist, one being Backpage.com and I have posted on the latter for Free and have sold a few personal items with success.

That venue also has a community that flags, but it apparently has a better following of community users who do flagging intelligently and not to give a boost to their own ego of having the ability to do so.

After finding this site and having read so many other peoples comments (negative) about Craigslist, I don't feel so alone with all the trouble I have had.

Craigslist will no longer be my problem, since I am going to quit using it either to post a free ad or to read others posted free ads. For Craigslist, their problem is of their own making, when they FAIL to provide support to those people who wanted to make their site great.

I am glad that I found this place to post this comment, and I concur with all of those who have had problems with Craigslist.

It has to be my ex-wife or the guy who wanted to buy my truck for $1200 and make $50 a month payments to me and I said no way in hell. Now this person has a post above mine saying that I am crazy and that I am trying to rip people off and ect...

They only have live operators M-F 8:00-4:30, it is so frustrating because they require that you have to have an account now to sell items on Craigslist but give you no technical support at all, when you are not able to set up an account, or login to your account. Craigslist has gotten so bad lately, it used to be a wonderful site.

  • Awful customer service! Since the beginning of creating an account (because it started to refuse to let me create ads without an account), I have had to reset my password every time I logged out (whether I want to or not.) It became such a hassle and habit that I leave the "password reset" email in my inbox so I do not have to keep going back and forth putting my email address in and ask for an email.

I have contacted craigslist about this more than a year ago and I never received a reply.

Now, today, when I try to post, after uploading images and putting in text, it asks me to log in again, yet it would not accept my permanent password I changed it to numerous times.

If I try to post, it asks me to put in my email address, username and type in this captcha. If I knew my password to begin with, would I need to reset it? I cannot verify the account because it would not accept my new password, what am I supposed to do? It is an infinite loop.

I contacted then again about this and have yet to receive a reply. They are horrible! I appreciate the free service very much but this has gotten out of hand.

Not to mention the numerous spam posts I started to receive a few months on almost all my ads, all from the same few email addresses. I have had enough problems with identity theft, I do not need this problem again.

This website was my favorite because I could make local sells, but this is far too much to handle, and I cannot post anything anyway. I will try backpage.com as many people stated here. Thank you anyway, Craigslist!

You can get in touch with the San Francisco Attorney General office or State Attorney General office www.craigslist.org that failed to provide the can of service that is allow to the public.

  • I called this number (and thank you for having that listed) and used option 3..phone authentication. I only had to wait about 1 minute and then I got someone right away. She said since my phone number was a VOIP phone number, like Vonage, that was the reason it did not go through. She validated my account and told me that all should be well. I asked her why the phone number isn't listed on the main craigslist account and she told me " do you know how many phone calls we get ? "..

  • I have used Craigs List for a few years and am well versed in their rules and regulations. Awhile ago I had problems with a phone number verification. After contacting customer service FIVE times they finally verified my phone number BUT since then ALL my ads are being "ghosted"...ONCE AGAIN I contacted CRaigs List and the representative who answered was RUDE, NASTY, and wouldnt even listen to my problem he just kept sayin "look in the HELP section, I CAN NOT and WILL NOT help you unless you are a paying customer. When I asked for a supervisor I was told that I couldnt. NOOONE is regulating the customer service department and they are able to speak to customers in any way they wish. I even emailed Craigs List 5 times before I called customer service and all I received was a confirmation email saying that my email had been sent. I used 2 seperate email addresses abuse@craigslist.com and help@craigslist.com.

  • we too are unable to post. it won't accept our password (we haven't changed it) and says the phone is for another account. we recently also had problems with aol mail (about the same time craigs list started not accepting our password). we upgraded to paying in order to get a live tech (which meant a new mailbox as the old one would not recognize our password and asked questions that were never asked in opening the firt e-mail). he said they would have it fixed that day. that was last sunday. on monday the new box would also not work. now we're having password problems with craigslist and phone verification (same number as before) can anybody help?? are these problems related?

  • I've had it...craigslist just sucks and I wont use em any more! Instead, I had a very pleasant, no drama experience with http://www.backpage.com/
I was able to post a fee add to any of the same places/cities with absolutely no hassles.
I do have to say...the first phone call to craigslist was answered within 5 mins by a real person who was nice but matter of factly to the point of "I cant help you in any way except to verify the account for you".

Backpage may not be as popular as crapslist but given the curcumstances it will be/should be.

    Doc 6/10/10 11:05AM

  • I too am unable to post. After writing the post and agree to terms it will ask for my phone #, then tells me the phone # is already associated with an account. I never get a phone call and have emailed craigslist and still no help. We use to be able to post without an account and not even this is working. What is happening? Please let your customers know something, or what to do.

    Anonymous 6/8/10 6:51AM

  • I had the same experience as someone else --they won't talk to you unless you are a paying customer.

They did give me an email address to try: jobs@craigslist.org. I'd already tried help@craigslist.org, and got no response. I also tried clicking on the "contact us" on their site and sending a request for help there, and got no help.

Am not holding my breath that this will work either.

Has anyone who is not a paying customer had any assistance from customer service?

  • I get slammed with spam and scams on a minute by minute basis when using craigslist. My current problem is that I receive a notice "supposedly" from craigslist informing me that my account has been compromised and people are reporting me for fraudulent activity while someone out there has stollen my ID and is attempting to establish credit in my name at a breakneck pace, and I am the one under investigation by craigslist for fraudulent activity according the the letter I received. I have tried numerous times to make contact with ANYONE from craigslist asking for help with no response. I am not even sure the e-mail I received is legit but if it is I am holding Craigslist responsible for not doing enough to protect its users from this type of activity. Craigslist is a great resourse but because of the tremendous amount of abuses and CLs customer no service and lack of reaction when there is a problem leads me to re-think my continued use of Craigslist!!

Craigslist dose nothing but SUSPEND my account. I'll use ebay classifieds for now. Craigslist put all the smaller papers I used to advertise in out of business. The site is unusable. I have reported abuse and flagging but craigslist has done nothing about this issue. I would repost 10 minutes later flagged over and over. People who have nothing better to do with way toooo much time on their hands should be band from craiglist. The big question is will craigslist do anything about this and so far the answer is NO.

Spam is out of control on reponses to your posts. Flagging by competitors is out of control, with no recourse other than to re-post.

This site looks to be dying soon, which is fine with me. Judging from the appearance and features it probably took them about a week to cobble it together.

  • You have a company that advertises in the State of Oklahoma, Texas and Kansas called JMP Buildings in the farm and garden area building barns. Buyers need to beware to call and ask for all references, inquire about warranties and check the On Demand Court Records for the State of Oklahoma with the full names of the person, or persons doing business. You will find a history of court records on the builders name. You will have the right person with the middle name Paul. Please do your homework on the individuals associated with this company. Look for only companies that have a BBB rating to build your barn.

  • LANDLORDS BEWARE -- If you are listing a rental property -- DO NOT USE CRAIGS LIST.

Foreign entities have copied my posting and relisted the property at a dramatic reduction from the amount of rent I posted. Their ad also reads that no application or credit check is necessary and keys to the property will be rendered in exchange for a deposit.

A sizeable number of people attended my open house bringing cash. They were justifiably ANGRY because not only did the posting not match the amount I advertised, they were not prepared to qualify.

I get an overwhelming amount of calls from people about this. Now, that I am incurring cell phone charges, this action can now be classified as Fraud.

    Watch out!

  • Hi,
I know how you feel. Craigslist pulled off my AD 3 times so far without giving me a good reason. I still cant get any answer why. DO NOT USE CRAIGSLIST other sellers can flag and pull your AD for no reason (if you are selling an iten for less). Craigslist is not a good marketplace to sell or do business. I will no longer do business with this company. Its better you pay a fee and use other companies

  • I posted 2 listings, received confirmation e-mails for both. They did not show up on Craigslist, so I called customer service, hoping I would have better results than others have reported. Since she answered without a name, I cannot tell you who it was, but a very rude customer service rep told me to e-mail the posting i.d.'s to abuse@craigslist.org. She went on to tell me that this is a free service, so don't use it if not happy! She then proceeded to hang up on me! What kind of customer service is that? Why do they keep these customer service reps that are ruining their reputation? They seem to have a good thing going, and I cannot believe they would PAY such rude people to answer their phones! Are they encouraging their reps to behave in such a manner? Based on other reviews, it sounds like the reps pretty much all use the same words, so perhaps craigs list trains them to be rude to discourage phone calls? I don't get it...

Did remember the email account that I used, but needed to reset password..which I did. Then I have to go through this phone authorization thing..so I gave it my phone number. Let me just tell you this...if you miss that phone call with the code, you might as well forget about it til the next day! Even though it says you can reselect and have it call you again...it just won't. It's as if it gets locked up or something. Got to be a better way! • I reported to Craigslist about my ad being flagged and removed all the time. I read the Terms of Use four times now and don't see any violations that would constitute my ad to be removed. All I know is that it is unfair and I'm getting really pissed off. The fact that anyone can flag an ad and Craigslist just removes it without reviewing it is just flay out wrong. It's amazing to me that some a-hole can just keeps flagging my ads for removal while they continue to keep thier ad up and running. I can't see why anyone else would flag my ad other than they are the competition and are in fear of my prices taking away business from them. Anyhow, I have emailed Craigslist several times now only to get no reply. After looking at other comments made on this site, I realize that I probably won't get anywhere with them, & the jerk that keeps flagging my ad will continue to get away with it. I really wish that they would rethink thier po;icies so legitimate people can sell the items they want without having to deal with jerks that obviously have an aggenda that hurts others. It's like crooks that always go back to court only to get a slap on the hands again and the honest hard working person who screwed up once and gets the book thrown at them. Sometimes, it just isn't fair to be honest & upstanding. Maybe the heartless crooks are on to something huh? Just kidding about that part.

  • Craigslist has aweful customer service. My IP got blocked from Craigslist and I haven't got an explanation why. Before that happened, I got a few e-mails asking me to verify my account because they said different computers are logging into my account, so I verified the account. Next week, my IP is blocked. I tried contacting Craigslist through e-mail multiple time and they have not contact me whatsoever. Even still, I get e-mails from Craigslist asking me to verify my number to the account but it doesn't work as my IP is blocked. Then today, I got an e-mail asking me to verify my account but my browser reported it as a phinishing scam. So, I contacted Craigslist by sending them an e-mail regarding the issue and my blocked IP but I won't hold my breath, for them to reach me.

  • Craigslist seems to endorse serious fraud, by taking no accountability in their adds. I have found in looking for leases more fraudulent adds then good ones, and more scams for companies for "no money down loans" in the rental lease area then legit adds

In the Job market I am being sent thousands of dollars worth of fraudulent checks by Secret Shopper employers, and Personal assistant employers who claim in their posts to be offering jobs but are really trying to get you to cash bad checks... OR They ask for your personal information to do a background check ... Not everyone does the math in desperate times looking for work, suspecting this is what is really happening on Craigslist!

I have applied for many posts coming back with this I flag more then I get a good post...

I am trying to respond to an ad and now multiple ads and I continue to get error codes and I proceeded to send an email and that was more than 48 hours ago and no response. The answer was not available online so what does one do, wait until they decide to get their act together? I called the 800 number and they refer you to the online help!

When will these companies find out that they need to take care of the little people because their are a lot of little people with mouths and bad words can hurt a bottom line and the stockholders! Any suggestions?

  • I am so frustrated right with Craigslist right now. This ad posting site is supposed to be a frequently used and very popular site, right? Where is the professionalism? Where is the product for my $25 fee to post? I have tried to pay with every credit card in my office... including my own. They have all been declined. I called "customer service" to see if they could help me or take my payment. The girl who answered sounded like she had just woken up and had a mouthful of marbles. She told me the address was wrong for ALL three credit cards I had tried, including my own. She said the only resolution would come when I faxed them my credit card statement so they could verify the address. After that, it would take 3 hours to fix and would require no further action on my part (my words....her words were barely audible). Checking this morning...no ad. Do you not want my money Craigslist?

I have emailed and asked for help but I never get a answer. I have asked other people and they say it's very hard to get posted. My friend had help with four people trying to advertist on Craigs list. He finally thought he had an ad but again it did not post. The account just says NO Posting listed.

  • I had an ad posted on Craigslist that was accepted and remained on Craiglist until I make a minor detail change. I changed the spelling of one word. I then deleted the ad and re-posted it. The ad was again accepted then minutes later I received an email that it had been "flagged and deleted". I could not find any violations or infractions of Craigslist policies. When I called Craigslist, I was told to send an email to abuse@craiglist.org. The response to my email was that the email had been received and someone would get back to me. That never happened. I was also told to join the Craigslist forum to seek help on what could have happened? The next time I called the (800) # at Craigslist to report the incident, a rather arrogant young man explained that when an ad is "flagged and deleted", it means that other Craiglist users had flagged and deleted my ad and hat there was nothing that Craiglist could do about it! I waited five days then re-posted the ad. Same thing happened. I received a confirmation of posting, then minutes later. In just want Craigslist to offer customer service that will investigate the problem and offer a solution. I have been an avid user of Craigslist as a user, but I am frustrated by the lack of competent customer service and solutions to problems.

  • Update on the ongoing (or, should I now say, almost-never-ending) deletions of my computer ad. I called craigslist today, via the above-listed 1-800 number, and I attempted to explain to the woman who answered the problems I've been going through. Her solution to me...go to the craigslist forums, and look for possible answers there, and if that didn't work, have someone else look over my ad to see if there was anything in it that could lead to its being deleted. I explained (or, at least attempted to explain, which I'll get to in a minute) that I HAD already looked into the forums, and there was NOTHING indicating any craigslist policies which my ad had broken. And as for having someone look over my ad, I explained to her, for the second time, that I had ALREADY done so, and there was NOTHING wrong with my ad.

At this point, I was getting extremely frustrated, to say the least, and told her that she, obviously, hadn't listened to me. She reiterated that I should return to their forum, and look for answers there, and that, just as the person last week had said, there was nothing they could do about it. She told me I could either keep re-posting the ad, or I could just stop porting it. Trying to get her to understand that this was how I made my extra income, and that this was my only form of advertising, I began to get even more frustrated with her, to which she said she was going to put me on hold, and would return "when she could". In this case, that meant never. I waited on hold for almost 10 minutes, yet, as I suspected, she never returned. She just left me sitting there, on hold.

Having worked in customer-service-related fields for quite a number of years, this is NOT what can be considered "service". In truth, it is more of a customer "Dis-service". Once again, I suggest a civil suit against them, but a class-action suit would have far greater repercussions, in regards to how they do business, than individual suits. As such, I've already started searching out possible firms to handle such a case, but in order for it to obtain "class-action" status, a certain minimum number of people will be required. Once again, my contact is blackcat_systems@live.com. If you are interested in participating in this matter against craigslist, please contact me at your earliest convenience. The more information I have to pass on to whoever is willing/interested in taking on this case, the better.

  • @ Dan

When you say, "can't communicate with you", who, specifically, are you referring to? Craigslist? Me? Someone else? It helps to know. If it's craigslist, I haven't had any success in the past trying to resolve problems via e-mail, which is why I had to start resorting to calling them.

The 1-800 number is valid, and, on average, about every 1 out of 3-4 calls you can actually get through to a live person, but I haven't had much luck (if any, at all) dealing with the few customer service people they have. While I can't say if he was telling the truth, or lying, according to the last person I spoke with, the 'company' only has 30-40 employees, which is why, supposedly, they're not equipped to handle, or make changes, to most of the problems that people like us have been having. As far as I'm concerned, it sounds like a crock of s***, with a meaning of nothing more than to try and get people to stop complaining.

  • To everyone...and I do mean EVERYONE...who has had problems in the past, currently having problems, or may have problems in the future, if you are posting ads, and they are constantly getting removed (possibly by being flagged, and possibly by craigslist staffers themselves, although they will probably never inform you of such, if they are doing so), I have a possible solution...read on.

It seems that, like myself, there have been, and continue to be, a substantial number of people posting ads on craigslist which keep getting deleted. While some of the ads getting deleted are of varying posts (meaning, within a single individuals account), quite a large number of them, mine included, are the exact same ad(s), even though there is absolutely nothing wrong with the ad(s), nor do(es) it/they go against ANY craigslist policies. For example, I run a super-incredibly small business out of my home, typically building 1-3 units per month (although I might go 1-2 months without building any, and I might have as many as 6 in a single month). The point is, I rely entirely on my craigslist ad for my only real source of advertising, but being that, since Nov. 2, only one posting has successfully made it to its expiration date, with 19 having been deleted (supposedly due to being flagged), there is OBVIOUSLY a problem.

I've contacted craigslist about this, and according to the person I spoke with, the only thing I can do is to continue to re-post the ad. The problem with this is, it takes 15 minutes from the time I post the ad until it gets posted online, and (typically) within 45 minutes, and sometimes as quickly as 15 minutes, I find it deleted. While it is possible (although I doubt it) that it is getting deleted due to excessive flagging, this would require a sort-of "group effort", or a single person flagging the same ad many, many times.

Technically, or, should I say, legally-speaking, whatever is the cause of our ads getting deleted, be it externally, through flagging, or internally, if no craigslist policies have been broken, this is a form of harassment, and while craigslist likes to say there's nothing they can do about it, in truth, they know they could...IF they wanted to. Additionally, being that this is, legally-speaking, a form of harassment, and craigslist is enabling this, thus making them an accessory, that means that craigslist can legally be sued for harassment. This can be done in one of two ways. They can either be sued individually by each person who has gone through, or is going through, the same type of harassment problem I described, or we could band together and file a class-action suit against them.

Personally, I've already decided to contact a lawyer and check into filing a lawsuit against them, as my business relies on the advertising I have always done through craigslist. I've posted my ads, without any problems, on & off, for the past several years, as well as continuously for the past 8 month, but it's only been during these past five weeks that almost every ad I've posted had been deleted. If you're interested in suing them, either individually, or partaking in a class-action suit against then, you can contact me at blackcat_systems@live.com.

If it is decided to pursue a class-action suit, the more people involved, the better chance we will have. Individual suits can prove useful, but in terms of time involved, as well as difficulty, they have been known to be more trouble than they're worth. For this reason, I'd say, going the class-action route would be the better idea. They are easier to deal with, less time-consuming for all involved, and, in the great majority of cases, ends will better results for all involved.

  • I followed the horrible instructions which are incomplete and full of 'take your best guess crap'. So typical of all computer crap. I set up an account but when I try to go to it my password, and I know my password, craiglist says does not exist. I found my ad and wanted to re-post it but craiglist made it impossible.

    sellwoodsteve 10/26/09 8:01AM

  • two concerns here
    1. post on adult site gets constantly deleted by craigslist. they will not post even when i do not put a picture up. however, other girls post half naked and theirs get posted. there is no consistency.

    2. never get refunded my $10.00

i will eventually issue a warrant to their registered agent to appear in court. ive done it before with company's. ill do it with them. Its realle easy

  • Craigslist customer service is the worst ever!! I talked to three reps trying to get my money back for five ads that they removed of mine for no reason on one of thier pay areas. They told me they did not know why they were taken down, but that they would not refund my $50. I will never advertise there again. There reps need to go through classes to learn how to speak to clients. When you ask to speak with a manager they tell you no!! What kind of customer service is that?

    babysierra 9/22/09 11:43AM

  • I've had an account for over a year and have listed 20 or 30 items for sale with no problems.

Now when I try to post an ad, it goes through fine and it even shows green(active) in my account summary, but it never gets to the actual listing for public view. Craigslist's idea of helping is to reply with the boilerplate FAQ that dosen't help at all. There's even no way to cancel your account and start another new one!!!

Craigs crappy customer service is a red flag to you potential future customers. Beware.

  • This is the most obnoxious website I have ever seen. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE WEEKENDS?? I have a fraudulant ad that someone placed using MY PHONE NUMBER for a FREE SONY FLAT PANEL TV.
WHO GIVES AWAY A NEW FLAT PANEL TV. They were smart enough to do it on the weekend when they knew you had no customer service available. I will contact a lawyer monday morning, March 16th in regards to this listing AND Craiglist for harrassment. I have already recieved over 100 phone calls in less that 30 minutes.

They're trying to get these innocent people's personal information to commit fraud against them as well. No one has answered my emails and attempts at contacting them. This is a serious issue and I need someone to contact me, does anyone have any ideas.

  • I had the problem with the phone authentication everyone here speaks of and waited until Monday, called the number in the listing, pressed 7 (the number the recording gives for paid ads and housing) and waited about 2 minutes to speak to a human. Told her my story, told her about the postings I'd seen on the internet about the issues people have with getting no help, and voila she fixed it manually and 15 minutes later I was able to post again... thank you to everyone who posted on this, I think this may be why they are now handling the problem. And, thank you to Craigslist and the lovely human customer service person who solved my problem. Joanne

  • I have been using CL for about two years for my business. I have 4 ads and I rotate deleting/reposting them to keep them current. I do not rely on CL for all of my business advertising but have installed HUNDREDS of jobs generated directly from CL and more still from referrals based on those jobs. All for the very reasonable price of NOTHING. I have had many e-mails from "craigslist" requesting I verify this that or the other. I ignore all of them as I assume they are attempts to get my password etc. by hackers or those who are looking to hijack my account or gain personal information. I believe it is stated in the CL terms of use that they will never request your password or personal information and in two years I have never had a problem. We are really getting something for nothing and your only part is to read the terms of use and follow them. Pretty simple and I think it takes a special person to complain about that. If the FREE SERVICE provided to you is not good enough start up your own list, god knows there are enough people out there that think they can do better. They all spam me from my CL ad telling me how great their site is, you know the site nobody has ever heard of.

The ppl I talk to have been GREAT and the adds get deleted instantly. I applaud them on that. Great service!!

  • Everytime I had a post flagged by someone, I ALWAYS got an answer as to why (and all reasons are legit reason like how I posted my paintball marker as a paintball "gun").

  • I once contacted Craigslist via e-mail to request an ad for a job I interviewed for (and obtained) several months after the ad was removed. They were pretty quick in responding, and sent me a copy of the ad.
