DTE power service is worst than a 3rd world country. Any storm or snow people will loose power with no estimation when power will come back. Does DTE realize everything in our life runs with electricity? For this reason MI should have other companies supplying power which will provide a competition. Everyone is forced to purchase a generator due to frequent stupid power outage

I would legitimately tell anyone moving into DTE territory that you need to be prepared for several multi-day outages throughout the year, every year. In the past three years we have had *seven* multi-day outages in our area, one of them lasting a week. So seven times, we have had to throw out food and be in either cold or hot living conditions for several days. Other midwest power companies deal with similar or worse weather conditions, and yet have much faster response times. DTE absolutely excels at having the worst response times I have ever seen or heard of. Keep it up, DTE!

Wow, Just wow, I cannot believe that the power flickered as soon as I Began my second year in college which occurred in my parents' neighborhood in which I still live with them because of living expenses. The flickering began to occur yesterday while I was at college and I found out about the flickering as soon as I returned home as I Commute to and from college 4 days a week. This only occurred in the cities of Westland, Wayne and Inkster and nowhere else had an outage occur and this was apparently because of mixed precipitation in the morning that became heavy rain in the afternoon along with a little wind. If another outage occurs this weekend because of precipitation, I will be furious when people begin to have their pipes freeze in single digit weather while my parents and I begin to shiver due to the faulty equipment that constantly fails to provide uninterrupted service that we need in order to heat our homes in extreme cold. They are worse than ParkEMU at Eastern Michigan University where almost every commuter lot is full despite paying more than $250 for a parking pass, If your power is out, then you cannot heat your home without a generator nor kerosene heater in which finding these items is ten times more difficult than finding a parking spot in a commuter lot since everyone will rush to stores and they will quickly get sold out. With Single digit temperatures coming a week from now, I'm not sure if power will remain on during the arctic blast as there have already been numerous problems with keeping the power on while it's raining outside. If you live in Southeast Michigan, Make sure to buy a portable generator along with space heaters because now these issues are beginning to occur in the winter which worsen in the summer. DTE has really gone downhill over the last 10 to 15 years which might be why more people are installing standby generators that use natural gas from Consumers Energy along with solar panels. The Rates continue to rise like tuition, rent, and parking passes while DTE continues to provide unsatisfactory services to people in Metro Detroit. I Have had enough of this and I really wish that First Energy can overrun DTE as they have lower rates along with fast response times whereas a downed power line from high winds can be fixed within a few hours. It will take 3 days for DTE to perform the same job on a downed power line especially in extreme weather conditions. Unfortunately it is still a monopoly for the foreseeable future with no end in sight. If you are moving to Southeast Michigan for college or business reasons, Avoid the area unless you have either a portable or standby generator on you at all times in case of unpredictable power outages.

1/10/24 Don't know when this happened, but DTE is now utilizing an overseas call center that cannot solve problems OR respond to customer needs. They were unable to generate a replacement bill after mine was apparently "lost in the mail". I requested a call transfer to DTE/ MI and was told that this overseas group does not have the ability to transfer calls to DTE/ U.S./ MI. That is obviously alse information, according to the the U.S. rep that I was finally able to reach AFTER FIVE FAILED CALLS/ATTEMPTS. However, these overseas reps are very focused on "verifying" identity via the customer's personally protected information. I refused to give them any of that... not even partial numerical data. If they can't "verify" identity via name, address, telephone number, account number THEN THE CALL CONTENT IS OBVIOUSLY SENSITIVE ENOUGH TO WARRANT THE ATTENTION OF DTE U.S. They persisted in "fishing for data" even when the knew that they did not have the capability of "reordering" a new bill. Once I was able to reach a MI agent... it took less than 2 minutes for the problem to be investigated (original bill was sent, but obviously was lost in the mail) and resolved (MI agent dispatched a new bill). It took me 3+ hours to get around the "robo nonsense" and the overseas call center BEFORE I randomly landed in the "que" of the MI Rep. THE FACT THAT I HAD TO GO THROUGH ALL OF THAT TO GET A REPLACEMENT BILL WARRANTS THE "WORST" POSSIBLE RATING FOR DTE... NOT FOR THE MI AGENT WHO SOLVED THIS SIMPLE ISSUE IN 2 MINUTES!

We Need A New Power Company Immediately. Government Funded Monopoly

Posted by Stacey

This is a monopoly that is sending people to the poor house. The rates are ridiculous. Ok sit in my dark house from 4 to 7 to save money? Wth. My neighbor has her window open and I'm on of trying to pay my bill? 300 dollars, 50 being heat. And average in Michigan is 180 a month? WTH is going on?

Has anyone else out there been punished for not agreeing to go with DTE's paperless billing? I think the power company concerns for the environment is rich. At least we have another beer than bud light...not with DTE though.

Dte are you listening. Ppl are fed up with your excuses.bad weather is here to stay. Upgrade your old grids poled etc.5 6 days. No power restoration. While 7 trucks are sitting on the corner. What are they doing???

Posted by Anonymous

Garbage company that promises the power will be fixed today. 1150pm comes around, and it's now tomorrow. Power went out Wednesday night, and it is now Sunday, with each day being the day they promise to fix it. Compared to my old company on Ohio, Duke Energy, DTE is a massive disappointment. Can't even get a hold of anyone to get a proper update.

DTE Energy misleading unprofessional company they charge us $7900 for new a/c unit
that needed service after one week not enough Freon also didn't install the proper electric out let that the city requires it took them two month and still my old 20 years ac worked better than this cheap product they sold plus all the lies from the upper managers to the installers very bad business

I paid DTE July 1st and now they talking about shutting my service off my bill is not due again until August 25

When your priorities are keeping the shareholders happy and not investing in infrastructure you get what we have here today. Time to dissolve dte into a non profit organization.

Posted by Anonymous

No worries about paying premium charges from 3-7 pm because there is no power. This is the grid we're counting on for electric vehicles? I can't even charge my flash light!

We have underground utilities so power outages should not affect us....but yet they do! 283 homes in Saline Wildwood have no power as well as A2 having no power. We saw DTE crews sitting at Curtis Park at 11am today. Everyone needs a lunch break, I get it, but 10 hours later no updates...are they still at Curtis Park enjoying OT while all the food at my home is wasted as well as everyone else's? WTF? We need an alternative to DTE!

It is time the DTE become a "not for profit" company. They do what they want without regard for their customers. It all has to do with the stock holders. The new "Time of Day" plan that was forced on us all recently. For people that work 9to 5 it maybe just fine. But those of us that have to stay because of sickness or retired it was a rate increase. Seniors are at risk of higher temps and need the air conditioning on during the summer. We are being forced to leave home to go some place to cool down to keep cost down, but some cannot do that.

Way too many outages and for far too long for how much money this company makes. Absolute scam artists.

Low hanging wire in my backyard and can't get ahold of anyone that's not an automated machine to even give me an ETA on when it can be looked at. Submitted a ticket on the app, same issue. I have a dog this could have harmed. DTE needs to do better. I thought they invested all this money to better prepare for storm damage. This is unacceptable.

DTE doubled our bill for 2 months of service. We are on Budget Wise to help with the bill. I went to make a payment and it said that I can't make it because it's past the shut off date. There was no mention of a shut off. My husband relies on electricity for his breathing ventilator. They do this stuff to unsuspecting customers. But, I am on to them like a hawk.

A DTE gas person ( I hope) came to our home today unannounced and told the person at my home they are here to check the meter. Came into our home and checked the meter. I am beyond appalled that any DTE energy person would just show up without appointment nothing. I want explanation of why this could even be allowed and acceptable from supposedly a company that is filled with imposters

This system sucks!! Not user friendly

Posted by [email protected]

My husband is suffering with breathing issues and can't be driving 4 miles to make a payment to them. They know I don't get my check on the 3rd of each month. But they insisted that it had to be paid on the 2nd. It came back from the bank and took us off of paying online. They are uncaring to their customers and situations. After all we had to deal with their long outages from them.

DTE is a terrible source of power. We have outages when there are no storms or high winds. We are going to have to purchase a generator just to deal with unexpected outages (I.e., no storm or high winds)

DTR should give us credit for tune without power and, also, supply household generators to all its customers.

This is what happens when there is no competition - a lack of responsibility to and respect for customers.

a tree branch from our neighbor's yard that was 1/3 of the size of the tree crashed onto our roof and has been on it and lying over 2 power lines that run across another neighbors house/yard along with ours.
the first time we called they said they'd send someone out within the week to remove it. a week and a half passed by and we heard nothing from DTE. we called again and got an 'I'm so sorry we'll send someone out'. a few days later we had a storm with 80mph wind gusts and the branch has lowered enough to where we could touch the power lines if we tried.
we reported this again and nothing.
I am disgusted with their lack of concern of the safety of our neighborhoods residents and lack of response and general inconsideration. were lucky the power line didnt crash down on our house and neighbors house.
we reported this 2 weeks ago and there were no storms for nearly a month when we first reported it. I don't see many people having issues that would surpass our issue during the 2 weeks. there's no reason they shouldn't have fixed this or at least reached out with a date they'd come out.
if the branch finally falls off our roof and brings the 2 power lines down in ours and our neighbor's yard any damage will be completely due to DTE's negligence.

Called DTE on Thursday June8 and spoke to Lucas about low utility wires and a rotten pole. I expressed my complete frustration and concern as the wires were in my back yard practically resting in my home, and were getting progressively lower with weather!! After a year of frustrating calls, Lucas went to work!! Today I am watching the crews replace the rotten pole, and lift the low hanging wires. Thank you Lucas for the customer satisfaction you gave, and your exemplary service to DTE. May your great deeds continue to be noticed.
A very Satisfied Customer

Our power went out around 8:30PM on a steamy, hot 90 degree Thursday night! DTE had the power back on by 11:00 PM. Thank you DTE for being so quick!

I had a wonderful experience with dte energy. A gentleman by the name of Aaron ketzbezk came out and serviced the power supply to the house as it wasn't sending sufficient power. This gentleman really knows his business. Things that an actual electrician couldn't pin point, he did. I'm very grateful for him as he got my house running back in order again. Definitely an asset to the company, respectful and polite. Can't be more happy.

My power just came back on at Barnes lake road thank you all for all the hard work you put in after the strong winds on Saturday GREAT JOB!!!

I would like to state a positive experience I had with the way DTE handled a situation I had. I had 1 leg of my power supply and DTE was out within the hour of my call. The serviceman (wish I got his name) determined the problem and called for a backup unit to get me going again temporarily until the power could be fixed permanently. Then a gentleman named Greg Harris contacted me and kept me updated and expedited this process. I am grateful to Mr. Harris and the entire team at DTE. I wish I could have gotten the names of the other crew members but I didn't.
Keep up the good teamwork and I appreciate the service you gave me.

I just would like to acknowledge Darryl ext 62046 for resolving an issue that has been affecting my life, my children and my business for the past three weeks. I've spoken to several representatives but it was Darryl that actually did something using his resources and problem solving skills he was able to come up with a resolution. I'm so grateful that Darryl took the time to help me instead of being just another apathetic person on the other end of the phone telling you what they can't help you with just pay me. Darryl was kind compassionate and helpful. Thank you thank you thank you!
