I have had gamefly for a few months and had no problems. I send a game in and get one 2 days later. BUT.... I pay 24.99 a month. maybe because i leave in Cali and they are based here!!!

I've had Gamefly for 3 years and have always had good feedback and good shipping times from them. Maybe because San Diego is close to one of their mailing centers I suppose. But they have always been helpful in getting my next game to me even if it takes longer than I expect to get back through their system. I've been able to get New release games and older games all the same and I have only ever received 2 games that were unplayable which they quickly replaced.
I can't believe so many people are complaining but I bet if you knock out the $20 trial members complaints and the 'live far away from a shipping center complaint' you'd have a more believable complaint percentage.
And for the people who complain about the phone number, I have NEVER had to contact them via phone. Online and email has always been quick and speedy response time.

You can contact Game Fly at their corporate headquarters in California at 310-664-6400. A live person will actually come on the line and help you. Just follow the phone prompts. Game Fly should provide all of their customers with a toll free customer service number. I had to search for this number because the toll free number that I found for them on the Internet was only a recording.

I don't think it's as bad as everyone else. It does take some time to get the games, but people keep them for long enough to beat them I'd assume. The free trial charge is B.S.! But compared to paying $7-$8 for 5 day rental from a video store and re-renting & re-renting if you wanna beat it, is much better having GameFly. I also like the fact they give you the option to buy new or used games just as GameStop, but there's no tax on the internet. I'm not 100% satisfied either, but it beats paying $65 every month for an awesome game you want, ya know? I give it a thumbs 3//4 of the way up. Could make some major changes to improve their service.

More user-friendly & superior to smart phone's capability my customer service in U.S.A. REPS/ experience was POSITIVELY POSITIVE! I'm enamored w/ the crucial benefits Garmin provides me. Because I spend a lot of time on the road traveling & in a lot of unfamiliar big cities, I was nervous when I called customer service. Someone in Kansas answered soon after I dialed "1" on the voice prompt. I explained that there was a loose USB & the chord had shorted but was OUT OF WARRANTY. It took about 3 minutes to get an RMA from AUTOMOTIVE, 10 to get it packed & mailed, & they'll replace it anyway w/in a wk! Now that's GOOD!

Ok, So if you tried to use a debit gift card (say vanilla visa, green dot, etc) and you attempted to activate a free trial account, got denied, but still saw a $20 authorization fee on your transaction history, don't worry. Money WILL be returned back to your account in 3-5 days and gamefly will NOT charge you again for an account that was NOT activated. They DID NOT open an account for you and you WILL NOT be charged again. Gamefly customer service rep was great.

The only problems I have with Gamefly is that it takes at least 1 week to get a game. Any the closest shipping center is only 3 hours away? Whats with that?

Also I had this game with medium availability at the 1st slot on my GameQ and it still hasn't come, but they keep sending me ones that are in the middle of the GameQ or on the bottom. But overall its kinda good. It's a little expensive though.

I have been using game fly for a prob a total of 2 years and I have never really had any problems that all of you people are having. I will admit that at first when I started my membership it did seem to take a long time to get a game or to send one back but I contacted them via email and they started shipping to me from a different location and that was actually further and but I would get them much faster around 2-3 days and it would be in the mail box which is perfectly good to me considering how the USPS can be sometimes. And yeah sometimes you don't get the game you want right away but I always get games out of my top 5 in the list all new or recent games. I came across this site trying to get the customer service number while I was on hold for the chat and I agree it did take a while around 9-10 min before some one came on chat and I keep the phone on hold while talking to the chat guy and someone finally came to the phone at maybe 13-14 min then I hung up on him haha but I was reading this crap and doing other stuff while on hold so it was not a big loss of my life. And my prob was i lost my debit card and they had been trying to charge my old one for a week and I forgot to update my gamefly account but the prob was I entered my new card number wrong..oppps but it went through and my account picked right back up where it left off so everything was ok how often will you actually have to contact Customer Service anyways its a gamefly account and if game take a while for you get a 2 game account or 3 and keep one while you send others back or find something else to do other than play video games everyday while you wait big deal. Game fly may not be for everyone i guess but I love it and will continue to use it both my brothers have used it also and have been happy.

I called questioning the $20 charge during the free trial as some other people here. They they want to ensure that the account is active and not fake, that is understandable. Customer Support Rep was great!

Well I don't know what happened with all of you, but I didn't press 5, and I got through within a matter of seconds spoke to customer service and they took care of things very speedily, and I wasn't charged anything. So, personally I thought their customer service was awesome!

My only problem was their prices for renting the games, and the time it took for me to get them.

Gamefly Is not a way to cheat you out your money and Customer Service helps you good & understands your problems. It's a good way to rent games you never played and to buy games for a cheap price well not that cheat lol. All you have to do Is wait patient for your game to arrive to your house and when you tired of playing the game give It to the mail carrier and Gamefly will get it and you will get to receive more games in the order of your MY GameQ. And come on now DUHHH as soon as you call Customer Support you expect for them too pick up they not a robot Be patient and they gone talk to you very nice and you have to be nice to don't Cuss and fuss

I made the mistake of returning 2 games in one envelope (don't do that). Long story short, they only recorded 1 game returned and I was charged for the second game. Then my account was canceled and I was sent to collections for the missing game. This really pissed me off! So I emailed them,...

Each of my 3 emails were answered in less than 24 hours. Each topic I brought up was addressed in full. I did not receive any of those generic form letter responses, which I HATE. The customer service associate was very friendly in spite of my irritated tone. And finally, My issue was quickly and completely resolved to my satisfaction!

I didn't like the situation I was in, but I found their level of customer service to be FANTASTIC!!

I have been a customer of Gamefly off and on for about four years. Of course I have experienced a few problems with the company, but as with any business relationship, that will happen. For the most part, the only lasting complaint I have is the shipping times. It usually takes 5-7 days for a game to arrive after it is shipped. I alternate between the 3 and 4 game plan, so this isn't that big of a deal, but I would appreciate faster shipping. Overall, I really enjoy Gamefly. In reading the complaints on this site I notice a few are valid, but many more are due to customers having unreal expectations or just being ridiculous. I have never had a problem communicating with Gamefly (email or phone), and the 20$ charge people are complaining about during the trial is a temporary hold to verify the card has enough to cover the membership if they choose to continue. It will be refunded in a few days. As for the complaints about not receiving the games at the top of their list, you have to consider that they only buy a specific number of games. If they didn't they would have a huge surplus of titles after the games lost popularity. So anyone who is looking to use Gamefly should consider that sites like this have way more negative feedback, because everyone likes to complain when things go wrong, but few like to show appreciation when things go right. So for my money, you can't beat Gamefly!

I signed up for the free trial. A $20 hold was placed on my account (as stated in the terms and conditions). When I cancelled the account and returned the games before the trial expired the hold was removed (meaning it really was free). I have since resubscribed. My games are shipping VERY quickly. It only took 2 days to receive my first game. Overall, I'm very happy.

I just called gamefly and spoke with a customer representative who was very nice and very helpful. In order to get your refund you will need to have the funds taken off of hold first. To do this you will have to call them and have them fax their letter head to your bank including the following information:

Company Letter Head
Credit Card number used during your sign up
Your Name
The $ Amount being held
The Date of the authorization

After the funds are no longer on hold you will need to contact gamefly.com again and have them issue a refund.
From my experience, I was able to get a customer representative on the phone within minutes and they were very friendly and had no problem with helping me. I have not yet made the phone call to have the refund issued so I will keep you guys posted on how that goes.
I previously posted warning people that nothing in life is free and you will be charged $20.00+ dollars in order to activate you "free" account. So once again,

WARNING: THE FREE TRIAL AT GAMEFLY.COM WILL CHARGE $20.00+ TO YOUR CREDIT/DEBIT CARD.

Wow, had a game lost in the mail and no questions asked they took it off my account. They were polite and easy to understand (read American).
Good Job!

I’ve had GAMEFLY going on 3 years now. I’ve switched between 1 games out to 4 games out depending on what games are HOT multiple times. I’ve had good if not excellent experience with them. I buy most of my games used from them. I have bought a total of 17 games and only 1 has been messed up but they replaced it in a reasonable amount of time. I had ordered things by mistake and they have refunded my money in a reasonable amount of time. As a gaming online business I think they do a good job. I don’t know if it’s because I have been a member for so long or I buy a lot of stuff from them but if a new game is coming out. I can just put it in my queue two days before and I get the game sent the day it’s release. It’s pretty consistent so I’m very happy customer with that. If there's an issue it usually takes 1 day to respond and it's over email. Not bad. I would rather talk to someone but overall I have been very pleased. :)

UPDATE:

I called Game Fly today. Customer service answered in less than a minute. They were very nice and closed my account. They asked me to send the games back, and I will.

I have nothing bad to say about them in my one and only contact.

I have been using gamefly for the last years and I have always had a good experience with them. True sometimes you have to be a little patient for some games, of course games that are top sellers are in high demand, and there is going to be a wait time for some titles but just play a different game and keep the one with low availablity at the top of your que. You will get it eventually. I think the longest I had to wait was a week and a half for a game from the time it released and that was Halo reach. Remember there are thousands of impatient gamers trying to get these games to rent. Considering the high demand they have to keep up with, I think they do a tremendous job. Just try renting a game anywhere else, especially blockbuster and you cannt keep the game for as long as you can with gamefly, and you will literally pay each month almost what it would cost for one game, so Gamefly is a deal. Also, the games I have gotten are brandnew without a scratch.Dont know how they do it but it is appreciated, and then if you decide to keep the game you can sometimes get it for 20.00 to 30.00 or more below retail and when they send you the case and manual for the game, it is also in brandnew condition. And all this with free shipping! And anytime I have emailed them they have responded appropriately. So to you spoiled, impatient brats, stop whining and be thankful there is an alternative to spending 60.00+ on a game that you may not end up liking and your stuck with when your done playing. If you dont like gamefly then go somewhere else and that will be one less person to keep me from getting my games faster. J.Harris, Louisiana

lol i think theyre seeing all these bad reviews on their site and trying to get their customer service going better. I cancelled my membership on the same day i was supposed to be charged and i figured they werent going to do it but i dealt with a nice gentlemen named Adam and he took care of it and said even if i had been charged they "probably" couldve refunded me the money. One biggest problem is not enough popular titles, you have to get them in your Q pretty quick or something. Also i wish i didnt have to google gamefly contact number to find a number to call and talk to somebody instead of stupid email support

Shipping lag time is the main issue why this service is 3/5 stars. I will rate it 4/5 stars if you use their rare promos such as the buy one month get one month free promo: http://a.tellapal.com/a/Gv5DVa

I've only had GameFly for 1 month, at first everything was good so I upgraded my plan "Mistake". Now, Im waitng on anything to arrive since it's been nearly 2 weeks of being without anything from GameFly. "Why am I waiting" Because there are 2 games still on my queue, which I do not have. Now, since I've found the phone number, let me call since my billing cycle starts tomorrow. I do not want to pay for service that Im not receiving...................... I called and do you know what? GameFly customer service is actually great. Not only did they remove the games from my queue, but I received 50% off my next billing cycle "which is tomorrow", since I've waited nearly 2 weeks without receiving anything. So thank you Albert (Gamefly Customer Servive Rep).
