  • They are continually opening disputes in payments that I initiate with suppliers to my business. I am in danger of losing my domain names because I can not pay for the renewal. They are an absolute menace to your business. They should be avoided where ever possible. trying to get anything solved is a nightmare. They are the worst company on the planet.

  • God forbid I had to reopen this account when I accidently bid on an Ebay item that would only take PayPal. Trying open the account was a hour & half hassel, after I was unable to reach their customer service only on the helpline (typing). I was referred right back to where I came. So many crappy experences before was why I closed my account. Unfortunately my information was still there and my bank account kept tying into my email address. You think I would have learned the first time and been more careful when I bid. I was hoping another bidder would take this dreaded experience off my mind. I have been unable to confirm an email address change yet. Frontier bought out Verizon, so your email address changes. The so called email they sent me does not have the # I need or the link. GO FIGURE! Just hope I won't need to use it again. I'm reluctant to cancel for fear I will have to use it again, as that has already happen when I had to replace a part today and could only find it on Ebay. No such luck! Reachability??? What Reachability!!!!

  • They just screwed me out of $152. Customer has my item and I've got NOTHING. They took FOREVER to resolve this so called dispute which is STILL a BIG ? The rep didn't explain the problem to my liking and when I told him I'm through with PayPal & Ebay all he said was "OK". Don't worry, I'm going to tell EVERYONE I know what happened and what a joke they are.

  • Pal Pal worked well until there was a problem with it taking my credit card-the card is current and has a fine balance-no credit card problems. When I called they gave me all this gobbledy-gook explanation-something out of Star Wars-designed to confuse and mean absolutely nothing! In other words...the don't know jack when their system goes tits up!!

  • I have never had such a time closing an account. Talk about a run around--I think I could get in touch with the White House easier than contacting PayPal. My checking account has been compromised by these jerks and I have had to try and close the checking account to get rid of them. Forget using PayPal!!!!!!

    Anonymous 8/18/10 2:00PM

  • quite possibly the worst service I have ever come across. I have used them to buy products on ebay only because I have to. The one time I sold something (not on ebay) they became a night mare...0 customer service, stick to their "scripts" etc. The person I sold to lied, and claimed he didn't get the product, I had absolute proof, which they ignored, the buyer finally admitted the lie, and they sill sided with him. I finally got my money from the buyer, and paypal still sent emails siding with the buyer....they actually STINK.

  • I was on the phone over 40 mins. with NO RESOLUTION. This is the WORST Customer Service I have ever had in 50 years. There is a problem where everytime I got a Human they said "Not My Department" and sent me through the main Loop Again. Thirteen times I had to give my name and Social??!?? Very Very Ineffcient and I was NEVER HELPED. I talked to 5 or 6 Humans and ALL sent me back to the begining. Very Very ignorant set-up. Since I have no way to correct my issues I am forced, through Paypal's Ineffcient Customer Service to seek another
venue. Please note, that I have been a long time Customer and have spent many Thousands of Dollars online a a regular (several times a week) purchaser and will now STOP using Paypal and will suggest to everyone they do the same..............

If your this inefficient with Customer Service it's just a matter of time before you have a MAJOR ERROR and/or Class Action Debacle.

I have just wasted now over one hour, talked to 6 Reps and got NOTHING done. AWFUL

I was Director of Ops for a Major Pharmacuetical Co with Customer Service as one deparment and if a problem like this was brought to my attention either the Head of CS or IT would be Fired. My guess is nothing will happen here, and this will probably not even get read by anyone who CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Did you try contacting the person/business who was selling the fonts?

But yeah Paypal should have reversed it if you didn't receive the fonts from whoever you bought it from. I haven't had any trouble with that when disputing a charge up until this point.

    >I purchased downloadable Fonts using credit card through PayPal. After payment processed there was no access to my downloadable Fonts. I tried all the methods provided by PayPal to get my credit card payment reversed to no avail. I filled out all their forms and gave them my payment confirmation number but still couldn't get my money back. In the end, my credit card company reversed my PayPal payment transaction... thank God!

I highly recommend NOT USING PayPal!!!!

  • Ebay-Paypal; Terrorist Paymasters?
I was recently the victim of fraud of $5,793.88 for gold ingots sold on Ebay-Paypal and shipped to Indonesia. Despite providing conclusive evidence of the fraud, Ebay has not shut down the fraudster or returned my money.
Upon further investigation it has come to my attention that Ebay-Paypal may well be hiding a sophisticated terrorist funding operation using fraudulent gold purchases made on Ebay to fund terrorist networks in Indonesia and maybe elsewhere.
Ebay is protecting the reputation of this fraudulent American based “Buyer” who bought 5 ounces of my gold ingots, “paid” via Ebay’s subsidiary Paypal, and then switched delivery address to have me ship the gold to Bandeh Aceh in Indonesia. Then two and a half months after shipment the “Buyer” reversed the credit card payment that was used to purchase the gold.
Mysteriously, Ebay-Paypal has continued to supported his fraudulent activities despite compelling evidence of fraud.
Despite being provided with overwhelming evidence of gold fraud, Ebay still has this possible “terrorist” funding operative listed as having a 100% positive feedback rating as of June 8th 2010.

  • Paypal is the biggest criminal organisation around how do they get away with saying that they are the most secure online payment service when they allow people other then the account holders to access the information change the primary email address and passwords so the the original account holder cannot access their account then they give you the royal run a round when you try to do somthing about it. Their telephone service absolutly sucks as you never get to speak to a real person if you cannot verify you account and how can you do that when due to the incompetance of the service you have had to go to your bank to cancel the card or account because PAYPAL gave your account to a criminal to use for whatever purpose.
I will NEVER NEVER BE USING THIS SERVICE AGAIN AND STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT NO ONE ELSE DOES EITHER IF THEY DO NOT WANT TO BE RIPPED OFF

    Veryangryman 6/4/10 12:14AM

  • Paypal and Ebay are aiding and abetting and criminals who steal products and then reverse credit card payments to steal your money and goods.
This just happened to me. I shipped $5,800 worth of gold to a buyer (Mayumi N Kaneshiro) who paid with paypal, then two and a half months later, long after he received the gold, his credit card company reversed the payment and paypal immediately took the money from my paypal account. this is despite the fact that I sent them proof of the shipment. Ebay still lists the buyer-thief as 100% recommended.

Here's a switch! I received a cancellation notice the other day re my PayPal account being cancelled for too frequent use. I'd like to make it known that I have NEVER had a PayPal account and any usage of my name on one should be investigated, and that someone is being liable for fraud!

  • Opteron is right. Apparently if your account is limited for something stupid (mine has been 5 times, apparently every time you use your account heavily or need to pay your rent, they will bring something out of the woodwork or make something up and limit your account) anyway if you find the right customer service rep they will clear your limitation right away. If you find the wrong one, expect a scripted answer even if you tell them your life is ruined and you will be evicted in 3 days and your losing thousands of dollars in the meantime because of it (my case)

    havokb24 5/6/10 6:54AM

  • PayPal's customer support is terrible. I will be using Google Checkout in the future. They have decided to put a 21 day hold on my sales because I have not sold through PayPal in awhile and now have had a spike of sales recently (totaling $85!!!!). After speaking with 3 representatives (2 pretending to be supervisors), I was promised a call back from a real supervisor and NEVER RECEIVED IT!

    Soap Dude 4/22/10 5:40AM

  • The service is the absolute worst. Two hours and twenty three minutes on the phone 9 attempts to get my money to no avail. The reps were repetitive in scripts. When I asked to speak to supervisor I was left on hold 18 additional minutes and no came on the phone. Long story short they HOLD your money even though seller and buyer are both satisfied. They just don't give a crap.

    frankibabi 4/14/10 1:08PM

  • The relationship between Paypal and major websites is crony capitalism at its worst. The problem is that all of these sites only use Paypal so that there is no competition. We can only hope that people catch on, and someone can take advantage of Paypal's weakness.

    Jared 4/12/10 11:37PM

  • I empathise with all the other contributors, PayPal have to be the worst company for customer service, I have ever come across. Trying to pay for something purchased on Ebay has cost me 3-4 hours of my time.[So Far] Paypal keeps rejecting every address and or changed password that I have done as requested by the prompts. Whatever EBay gets from Paypal will unquestionably cost them in the long term as I have been put off purchasing from Ebay as a direct result, I bet I am not alone!
What an absolute "mickey mouse outfit"

    Trevor 4/12/10 8:01PM

  • Once I got through to a human, the second line of Support or what they call the "Account Specialists" are not very "customer friendly". The gentelman I spoke to was actually quite robotic with his response.

  • Plain and Simple - WORST ONLINE SERVICE EVER!!!
I now refuse to do business with any retailer that does not offer an alternative form of payment. They will not make a single penny from me ever again. I will pay extra for an item just to know that they're not getting my business. Why? Read the reviews below. There customer service is the worst I've ever dealt with.

    Anonymous 3/3/10 1:41PM

  • You would think as big as they have become thanks to all of us. That they would take better care of their customers than this. After all who pays their salaries?? If there ever was a scam on the internet this has to be on the top shelf. Playing with peoples money isn't very good business, blocking them from logging in is wrong. Telling me they don't have my email on file is KRAP, I have the same email I have used for 5 years. The very same one I signed up with & have used for the last three months to login with. Now it suddenly does not exist!!!!!

    Anonymous 2/26/10 10:27PM

  • What customer service? There isn't any! They blocked my account and access to my log in asking for a bank account number that I have not used for 6 years and don't remember. They keep sending me instructions to remove the block and every time it starts with "Log in to your account" I phoned twice ($40)from Indonesia.Same thing..."We'll send you an email" Now they ask for a copy of my passport with nowhere to send it to. Cannot reply to the email and cannot send it without logging in

I sold an item in ebay and recieve payment through paypal. After a month, I receive a email from paypal noticing they are investigate in this transaction. A week later, I receive a email notice this will be a reversal transaction.
I shipped my item and have all the conversation document on ebay messanger. I provide all the evidence I can but then I was told these are all irrelevant. why? cause this guy steal someone's credit card and open an account in paypal and ebay. Its not the paypal account or ebay account ID be stolen, is the credit card was stolen!! How could this possible? yes, paypal doesnt even verified if its the card holder opening an account. Come on, that's the basic thing financial company can do. I'm going to quit both my paypal and ebay soon after i clena out my inventory. This is such an unfortune big company dont take their resposibility.

One more LD phone call got human that said I would have to wait for 2 months!! I asked for supervisor, put on hold (my LD charges adding up), Supervisor never came nor did she return my phone call. Years with Paypal and no problems, but this last month has been a nightmare!!!!

  • I was not pleased at all with Pay Pal Service. I tried to pay for a service and I could not figure out where to put the verification number. Sarah could not help me at all, so I called the customer service number. That was very frustrating. The voice could not understand my spoken phone number, so I entered it from the key pad. She still could not figure it out. I tried this twice to no avail. Obviously I am not happy with your service.

  • I was in full rage by the time I got to a Customer Svc rep, but he actually fixed my situation and was so friendly he calmed me down. Although he was good, the run around they give you on the site when you have an issue that isn't covered in a mere sentence or something they have in their stock questions is beyond ridiculous. The customer svc bot is a joke, as is the email form. I couldn't even get to the phone number on the site because it kept giving me an "internal error 500" message. So thanks to whoever posted it on this site!

    Oshidori 1/16/10 2:30PM

  • Their call service is just a joke. You tell them the problem and they tell you there is no problem. I paid the supplier and it shows on my statement as "Completed" but on the buyers statement as being processed. The buyer when he saw that it was completed at my end thought he would get paid in 7 days as stated by paypal on the statement when a transaction is completed. The buyer shipped the goods and he didn't get paid so his is not happy. I paid but the seller still hasn't received his money. We have made four call to Paypal will no resolution in sight.

  • Don't open an account with them! You will be sorry. Recently paypal sent a company an automatic payment from my account that was not authorized. Paypal refused to get my money back I had to contact the company that received my money and they refused to belive that they owed me any money because I was not set up for auomatic payments. They then refused to repay me because they said they did not owe me anything. After nearly a month and after sending them the paypal withdraw form and my bank withdraw info. they sent a payment. Paypal then took a part of the payment for their service. I called paypal and then sent them an email telling them that I had a big problem with this. They told me the company sent me the payment wrong and to send my refund back to the company and ask them to send it correctly. Now that's bad customer service!

  • PayPal is a "bank" of sorts that handles millions of dollars in transactions daily...and you cannot, cannot reach anyone other than a low-level call center employee or supervisor in India or the Philippines. I tried and tried...and trust me, you absolutely cannot go beyond the Call Center level, and never to the U.S., you cannot get any info about PayPal other than it's located in San Jose, CA...and good luck beyond that. Are you comfortable with that? Would you be comfortable if your bank or credit card company was completely closed off to you? I closed my PayPal account some time ago and they still use my credit card info for transactions through sellers even if I don't want them to...yet another issue to deal with...sellers using PayPal and giving no other choice. All very scary to me, and I'm not easily intimidated...

    PayPal critic 11/6/09 8:21AM

  • Someone stole $5,000 a few years ago from my bank account--wiping it out--by using PayPal. PayPal used a series of transactions to verify the amount of money in my account: (1) deposited under one dollar in my account; (2) withdrew under one dollar from my account; (3) then withdrew full amount in my account to pay for $5,000 in gold coins. PayPal paid for their mistake by letting FDIC (i.e.; you and me) reimburse the full amount stolen. Adding fuel to the fire, PayPal would not cooperate with the police detective working on my case for over a month; effectively, letting the thief get away.

I just received an email from PayPal notifying me that an unauthorized person(s)is trying to use my account again. The big problem here is that I told PayPal to cancel my account when the $5,000 was stolen from me.

  • PAYPAL SUCKS. CONTACTING PAYPAL IS AN EXERCISE IN FUTILITY. PAYPAL CUTS OFF ALL PHONE INQUIRIES WITHIN A SHORT TIME-FRAME, AND MUDDIES UP THE PROCESS OF PAYING FOR EBAY TRANSACTIONS "THROUGH PAYPAL" BY TAKING 3 TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS TO TRANSFER FUNDS BY DIRECT ELECTRONIC DEBIT. IF YOUR BUSINESS PLAN DOESN'T WORK, YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR "MODUS OPERANDI". WHY IS IT THAT PAYPAL CAN INSTANTLY PAY FOR EBAY TRANSACTIONS "THROUGH EBAY" ON BEHALF OF EBAY CLIENTS, BUT PAYPAL FAILS MISERABLY IN CASES OF ALL ELSE??????? (LIKE TRANSACTIONS "THROUGH PAYPAL" FOR PAYPAL CLIENTS). YOU NEED TO CHANGE YOUR NAME TO PAY "LATE", OR PAY "LATER", OR PAY "WHENEVER", OR PAY "WHEN WE CAN", OR PAY "WHEN WE FEEL LIKE IT", PAY "WHEN WE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW", OR PAY "AFTER WE EARN ENOUGH INTEREST ON THE FLOAT", OR EVEN PAY "EVENTUALLY", OR MAYBE EVEN PAY "ADVERSARY" ... as in "class-action lawsuit" ... maybe then we can expect some EQUITABLE SATISFACTION?

BUT HEY, I'M JUST ONE DISGRUNTLED CUSTOMER. THE QUESTION TO BE ASKED IS, "HOW MANY OTHER PRESENT OR POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS HAVE WE PISSED OFF". TAKE A SURVEY, THEN DEAL WITH IT.

    Anonymous 10/28/09 9:50PM

  • PayPal screwed me over too, had a dispute they were to settle. Had set up my Paypal account so they were to send information to my new e-mail address since I no longer used the old one. It turns out they sent all my e-mails to the old address and ended up sending my $125.00 to back to the seller because I did not respond in six days. We'll that was months ago and I am no longer purchasing on E-bay. PayPal should have credited my Visa account back like a normal businees would have done.

    dustyone 9/24/09 5:38PM

  • Horrible Horrible Horrible!
I made a purchase on ebay and paid via paypal. Ebay e-mailed me that the transaction was cancelled by them and gave the indication that the seller's listing was fraudulent. They never reversed the paypal transaction. A few weeks later item arrived which I never expected since the ebay had cancelled the transaction. I contacted ebay and they had me on hold a long time only to refer me to paypal. They said paypal is familiar with this type of situation and would handle the refund. I filed the claim. Paypal wants me to ship the item back with tracking. Annoying and inconvenient but I understand. However, they tell me I am responsible for the shipping back! It called customer service twice. The first time I was disconnected after waiting 10 minutes. The second time I waited several minutes, got connected with an agent who would not agree to pay for the shipping. I asked to speak to a manager. Waited on hold for several more minutes and then was disconnected. So now I am out almost an hour in phone calls, need to take a trip to UPS and need to pay for the shipping on an item that ebay cancelled and the seller is no longer a registered user for.

  • It is really easy for my PayPal account to get paid, but it is very difficult for me to transfer this payment into a bank account that is valid. I will avoid getting into too much detail other than to say that this firewall that PayPal puts up between itself and my bank account causes me endless frustration, not to mention too much contact with their customer service, and their solutions often wind up creating more difficulties for me. As far as I can tell, the problem must be with PayPal, because how many banks are there that won't accept a deposit, especially these days? I am glad PayPal goes to all these precautions to deter identity theft. But this really is my bank account!! I would really like to see this process streamlined as I would really like to get paid, please!

  • I had been using my PayPal Debit card for a couple weeks when it just stopped working. In fact, both of my PayPal Debit Cards stopped working at the same time. Every time I tried to use them they were declined. When I called to have them fix the cards, I waited on the phone for an absurdly long time to speak with a representative. She said that I had set a limit on my cards (I never did) and that I would have to go on the website to remove it. I went to the website, and it showed my limit was $1000. I told them that, and they just told me that I was wrong, and their computer was saying my limit was $6.53. Even after I explained to them that their website only allows limits to be set in increments of $200 they told me that I was mistaken and that I must have set the limit myself. I ended up applying for a new set of cards, and I will have to wait 2-4 weeks to be able to access the funds in my PayPal account.

    my8767 8/5/09 12:08PM

  • They are extremely difficult to work with when having to settle a dispute. They don't even fully read your emails and just send form responses. They have no interest in helping come to a resolution and make things as difficult as possible for the victim, which makes it that much more easier for the guilty party to get away with fraud and theft.

They are, however, an extremely useful and easy to use site for online transactions and I at least trust them as far as that goes. I just can't rely on them to help me out if anything DOES go wrong..

  • I have jumped through may hoops put up by PayPal so that they could have access only to the funds by using my Visa Credit card. The posted $1.95 on my Visa to do it, now a seller on Ebay perfers PayPal and I tried to confirm payment and PayPal says the same exact card will not work. What's going on here PayPal? Just pay the C.C. fees and move on.

One time you took funds out of my checking without my permission, I will not allow you to do that again. Is anyone else having that problem?

    dirtygerty710 8/5/09 9:50AM

  • No one there speaks English as a first language-- there are many communication problems with whoever you try to talk to. Many times they get frustrated with their lack of understanding of the English language so just revert to "reading a script" -- which doesn't help solve any of the problems.

I sat on hold for 20 minutes (the # worked though, I only had to press 0 two or three times), and after the woman tried to help me for 20 minutes she then had to transfer me to another department. Still on hold for that other department to pick up.

The best part is-- anything they "help" you with- they still insist on you doing yourself through the web. They just tell you how to do it from the web. Why can't they update your info for you?

    rosepetals220 6/30/09 9:27AM

  • Paypal in Spain are incompetent do not reply to emails, where their competency is questioned. The staff does not speak English well and as such are not capable of understanding the issues or problems. solving them is a far cry.

PAYPAL is sitting with my money and as soon the matter is resolved ( if it ever does ) I will be closing the account.

Needless to say it suits PAYPAL to use other people money. Please some one explain to them what does it mean by "Professional "

  • I must say, I felt the same way - why? I didn't understand its process. It actually is as stiff as it is for your protection. All HTTPS companies must be that careful! If you get confused - tell them so! You can speak with a tech at anytime - but, yes - I DID feel as you did at that time. Paula Green

  • I just called pay pal to resolve a problem of double payment. The operator was very helpful and polite. I have used pay pal in the past and this was the first problem I've had.

  • I had no problem with service. Called and talked to someone right away. And got everything taken care of....

  • I have been using Paypal for about 9 years and I always get my problem resolved very quickly. I was having an issue for about a year with their debit card where it would randomly decline a transaction for no consistent reason. But, that seems to be fixed as I haven't had to call them about that in quite a while. I spend probably $35-50k a year through Paypal. I am wondering if when you first call in and give your phone, debit or ckg acct# if it gives you expedited service based on your account usage? I get in right away with usually no hold and I get whatever issue resolved within 2-5 minutes.

  • My problem complex. Walter helped me through a complicated recovery to a satisfactory end. Many thanks.

Part of the problem in recovering a forgotten password is that you send the recovery information to the e-mail address that the client has forgotten the password to.

Secondly, you ask for a lot of Q&A to assist in identifying the client but you don't make that information available to the program or the human at the other end of the telephone wire.

Mind you, the mess was mine to make and I do appreciate the effort and assistance provided by Walter and ?Randy?

    Thanks, Bill

  • I have been caught for 10 days in an endless loop of security questions and verifications. Using this free phone number (which no one else had supplied),I got a great guy (Joel) who cut through all the crap, resolved all of the issues in 5 minutes while we were talking and was a model of efficency and courtesy.
The system is great when it works, but when it fails, it is a nightmare.

  • I called the number as listed and received friendly, ENGLISH-SPEAKING assistance.

I am sorry you seem to have not had the right experience.

  • I did not receive the item that I had bought on Ebay. I had paid with Paypal and filed a claim with them. I received a claim number with them and they wrote that the sender had two weeks to reply. After the time was up Paypal sent an email that they would credit my account which they did. I was able to do this all on line without speaking with anyone

  • As a customer service rep for PayPal, I understand the frustration. I also understand online buying/selling online is a risk. Unfortunately the statistics show that 74% of all people prefer to use a alias name online to hide their identity. I spend the majority of my shifts talking with frustrated buyers, and sellers, who are opening accounts with fictitous names and addresses. We do not have a face to face business, and all is fine until a customer has a issue. When compiling customer information, we find out that they used bogus info. We usually flip the coin on a dispute towards the person who has a good history, and who has not given made up info. If you open a PP account using false info, and file a dispute, unfortunately we cannot just say o well you lied to us, and now we trust everything you tell us regarding your transaction. Bottom line is we service 80 million users, and we process online payments. We protect all financial info provided, and request only that you have a secure password, but if you do not and someone logs into your account, you are guaranteed to have all funds reversed, and you never have to worry about losing your personal info. Buyers never pay a fee, and have the easiest most protected way to process purchases. As a seller you have 80 million shoppers, and if you deliver your goods, or services as promised you will have the most economical, user friendly payment processor. Just think if there was no PayPal.(10 years ago) Could you just start selling online, and or buying with confidence. No. Waiting 4-7 day for a check in the mail, then the seller had to wait 5-10 days for a check to clear, and then they would ship (another 2-4 days). This means every online purchase would take atleast 18 days to process orders. 94% of PayPal sellers, can ship within 24 hours, they do not have to go to the bank, and will have the funds in their personal bank in usually 4 days. If they have the free PP debit card. they could withdraw the funds at any ATM within minutes from receiving payment. I have only been with this company for only a year, but could not be happier with the commitment to ensuring a safe shopping/selling experience for all. We take protecting customers against fraud very seriously, and do everything possible to stay ahead of the fraudsters. Can we stop every bad seller, or buyer? No! Will we do our best? Yes!! For all of the frustrated customers, I hoped to help you in the future.
