I had an absolutely dreadful experience with Thrifty. Their service was subpar, and I encountered numerous issues during my rental. When I expressed my concerns, they offered a mere $100 voucher as compensation, which I had no interest in. I tried to communicate my preference for disputing the charges or receiving a discount for a future rental, but they seemed uninterested in addressing my concerns properly. It's clear that they prioritize their voucher offers over customer satisfaction. Because of this experience, I will never use their services again. Thrifty's lack of customer-centricity and their dismissive approach to resolving issues make them a company to avoid.

Extremely poor service quality. Three hours waiting time but still not get car, more time is needed, it's horrible. I will not use this company anymore.

My Thrifty rental was having issues for a couple day. Because we weren't broke down we could not get assistance. Finally it broke down and was towed on last day of rental. Emergency Roadside Service told me that I would need to take a car hire the remaining 40-miles to Regan National Airport at my expense but once I turned in my receipt Thrifty would reimburse me. That was on June 29. I have made calls every two weeks trying to get my credit card credited for that Uber amount or a check. Every call I'm told it is being processed in 7-10 days. They confirm the card # and amount. Today Customer Service told me there was no receipt on file or card info, when I asked to be transferred to supervisor my info suddenly was available. Again was told they would elevate it and someone would contact me in 7-10 days. Each time I ask to be transferred to supervisor, corporate POC or someone in US office I'm told they do not have the number to transfer me to.
I contacted my local BBB and they advised me to file a complaint in state of HQ, plus with the Federal Trade Commission for Bad Business Practice. I filed those this evening.

I have made repeated efforts to get resolution on my car rental from 8/23. My rental record is 543167660. My case #0230321800. This was the worst car rental experience I have ever had. We waited two in-line to get the rental. The car stalled on Friday on the way to the wedding rehearsal. Luckily a passerby was able to assist in getting the car off the busy California street and gave us a jump, but we were still late. the car died 4-5 times more during our short rental period. We tried calling it in on Friday but after being on hold in waiting for more than 30 minutes we gave up. On Sunday the car would not start so we late leaving our rental house in Temecula. Luckily my brother-in-law was able to come and jump us again. We called while waiting for him and were told someone could be sent out to assist us and given a case #--see above. this phone call took 36:03 minutes. Your attention to customer service is abysmal. We were in LaJolla trying to enjoy our last day in Southern California, it stalled twice on a steep incline on a very busy street. Putting my family jeopardy. We had to direct traffic and back the car down in neutral to a safe spot to get a jump. After this, I was afraid to turn the car off to get gas so we took it to the rental return facility in San Diego. I have filled out two customer feedback and surveys expressing my displeasure with the entire experience and have yet to hear from anyone from Thrifty.

I prepaid for my rental online and declined all additional charges. When I arrived at the airport to pick up my rental I was told they had no vehicles available. The clerks at the counter were short and offered no solution other than to wait until they had a car available, it took 2 hours for me to get a car. I had prepaid for my vehicle online and declined all additional charges during the check out. I did it again at the counter as well only to later realize that I was charged for additional damage insurance.

Waited for service for over an hour. This is an extremely unprofessional company. If there are over-booked reservations, there should be more staff on hand. If you're offering good deals for people to make reservations, then accommodate for the amount of people and reservations. Waist of time and money making reservations here.

Standing at te Denver Airport Thrifty, in a line with 50 others with 2 employees doing it all. You have the reservations, you know when we are arriving and THIS is the customer service you give.

Sucks big time. Yelp, X, FB and BBB next. Seriously get it together.

I rented a car from LAX for two weeks through Expedia with a special rate. I thought it was pretty cheap so I prepaid $409.40. According to their advertising, the total should be over $500. When I arrived in Los Angeles, they told me no more special rate car rental and they need to upgrade. Then they told me the new upgrade could be over $600. I thought that was OK, only $100 more. After I returned the car, they charged me $668.35. I asked them how about my prepaid amount of $409.40, they answered they did not know. I asked them if Expedia would give $409.40 to Thrifty? They said NO. Now I paid $409.40 in addition to $668.35. The total is $1077.75. After I read so many negative reviews for Thrifty, I realized their special rate advertisements are cheating ways to attract the customers. Thrifty is really very bad business. They are cheating customers and then through upgrading, they blackmail money from those poor customers immorally. We should all avoid this worst car rental company.

I rented a car in Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson Airport a week ago and left some clothes in the car. I placed a lost report and called the Manager Michael Bollen , the station manager 3 times, NO response. If your people turn things in left behind, where is the items. No, not even a call or I got your message and we're looking, I will NEVER rent from them again. At this point I guess some of your workers saw the Hudson jeans and FreePeople jeans and Aritzia clothes and thought it was Christmas in August. Shame on you!

Do not use thrifty at LIH (KAUAI, HAWAII). You will stand in line for 2 hours even if you have a prepaid (6 months ago) reservation. And they are RUDE. And they dont answer the phone at corporate.

I came to Puerto Rico this past Saturday. I reserved a rental from thrifty. When I got here and got the car the lady attending me was rushing me through the inspection. I was trying to look and point everything out. She then got to the passenger side and said I need your signature now. I looked at the car and didn't see any scratches. Very poor lighting in that area for inspections to happen. I was able to see everything except a dent that the car had on the bottom rear passenger door. There was no way anyone could see that because it was small and dark. Plus the car was dark blue. So I took the car not knowing about that. It was reserved from Saturday to the following Sunday. Yesterday morning I was leaving with my family for an excursion that was already reserved. When I go to the garage to turn on the car it wouldn't start. Tried a few times and nothing. Called thrifty and after finally talking to someone and answering questions they finally told me that a tow truck would be sent and I have to jump in the tow and go back to the airport to get another car. I told the guy I spoke to that I had plans and they've already been ruined and the time was past because of this situation. He gave me a number that I called over 20 times to with no success. No one answers that call. Wondering if it's a legit number. So the tow gets to where I was staying and gets the car on. Told me it be best to drive it myself to the airport instead of it getting told there. Specifically told me not to turn it off. So I said fine. I did exactly that. So I didn't stop to fuel because the car would of had to get shut off in order to fuel the car. I get to the airport and proceed to explain the situation. The supervisor comes out and starts asking my why it didn't get fueled. When I explained that to him he then went on to do an inspection of the car. Meanwhile I'm telling him how I've lost my whole day because of this. He does a quick walk around the car and stops exactly where that dent is as if he knew exactly where it was. I'm a million percent sure he did because it's been there. He told me that there's a dent there. I walk over to see what he was saying and still couldn't see it. I had to turn on a flashlight on my phone to see that. I immediately told him that I never caused that. There's no way that happened. He said it's not on the inspection report. Which shows dents and scratches that I pointed out all over the car except the passenger side because of the lighting. That should be checked immediately. He then told me I should of gotten the insurance they provide. Like this is some kind of scam. Then he asked why didn't I fuel up. I told him I was told to come straight here. Not to stop anywhere or turn the car off until I get here. I did exactly that. I also told him I was exchanging the car because of the issue not just turning it in. So he writes something on his report and ask me to sign it. I said I would but I also wanna put my comment on there. That's when his attitude changed. He got angry and started raising his voice. I'm nowhere near my home so I kept my cool. I told him again I didn't do that. He then takes me inside to the office and I talk to another guy at the counter who give me a form to fill out. He said you can explain what happened on here. I told him nothing happened. The car was already like that. So I wrote exactly that. Because that's the truth here. He then asked me about the fuel like the other guy did and I told him the same thing. It would of been fueled if it was getting turned in. I didn't cause the car to not start. So I fill it out twice because the guy at the counter messed up what he was writing so I had to do it again. He then gets me another car. I got to the same spot. This time I turn on my flashlight as I walk around the car. Pointing everything out. The guy doing the inspection was also trying to rush the process. This is definitely a scam in my eyes the way they are working here. Oh I forgot to mention when I told him that the dent was already there. He said no it wasn't and also immediately said we will be keeping the $500.00 deposit to. I asked him then to let me see the inspection report for the few previous renters. He said no. Because it was definitely on those reports. So back to the second car they give me. Full of scratches. I took my time and pointed everything out. I drive off to come back to where I'm staying. Mind you this started at 9am. I left thrifty rental at just passed 1:15pm. My vacation day was ruined. Oh and now the car I have must have a slow leak because I had to put air in the rear driver side tire. The low air sign came on as I was driving back. Like I'm being set up for failure by these guys. This is definitely a scam. It will be the last time I use thrifty. I'm calling my insurance company. My credit card company and I will also get a lawyer involved if needed. I'm not one to write things like this because I never need to. Plus I'm extremely honest. If I had did something I'd suck it up and deal with it. This was an existing situation and they are trying to blame me for it. I truly hope I hear back from you thrifty.

I had booked a reservation to pick up a rental car on June 8 for five days through Hopper. I had paid $340 for it. When I got to the car rental they had told me there was no rentals available. They then sent me to dollar rental were there I had to pay over $1000 to rent a car for five days for my daughters wedding. This was money I did not have to give. I didn't have any other choice as my daughter was getting married that evening and I needed a car ASAP. My question to you was since this was out of my hands and thrifty was not able to give me a car is there any way for compensation , for the extra money I had to pay through a different rental company? I feel this is very unfair to me that there were no cars available at the time of pick up
And having to spend money I just don't have. Please respond letting me know if there's anything I can do for compensation. Again I feel this is not fair to me that I had to pay so much more money for the rental, thank you and have a great day

Rented a car at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Had the car less than 24 hrs and returned the car to the same airport. I get a call four days later saying I needed to return the car. I am now in a process of trying to prove I returned a car with very little way of doing that. Following directions of the staff in the return area is obviously my issue here. Get as much confirmation as you can that you returned the car or you may end up like me. Will never use this rental car service again. My fault for not reading reviews prior to renting.

Hi Thrifty, on 04 Jan 2023, I've booked a rental car through Orbitz and made a payment of $1269.26 and due at pick-up is supposed to be $380.05. Rental pick-up is at Los Angeles Airport Branch on 9 March 2023. I was told at the counter lady that she can see that I have already purchased extra insurance from Orbitz and I am good to go. She then passed me an estimate of charges invoice that racks up to $1651.47 and told me to collect my car. Once we collected the car, at the gantry before we leave the place, the gantry staff passed us another slip of paper with total estimated charge $2104.90, we asked the staff why is the number different from the estimate the counter gave, he said he don't have the answer and ask us to move along, we can dispute when we return the car at San Francisco.
On 23 March 2023, when we returned the car at San Francisco O'Farrel, the counter requested for a credit card and I was charged $2105 on my card. When I enquired about the estimated price difference, the counter staff mentioned the branch in Los Angeles is different from them, they're unable to do anything about the price and ask us to dispute online after.

I've checked with Orbitz and they told me to check with Thrifty instead.
1. The initial payment made on 4 Jan 2023 to Orbitz - $1269.26, will it be refunded back?
2. If it won't refunded back, it doesn't make sense because I have initially booked the car because of the price @ $1649.31 on Orbitz (inclusive of additional insurance), at San Francisco counter, I was charged another $2105. So in total the car rental racked up to $3754.31? That's crazy.

Our experience was horrible. I booked through expedia and when I got to the check in, she told me that my driver's license last name didn't match the debit card last name.I have a real ID, which is supposed to be as good as a passport. I did not have my passport with me, so my friend had to rebook. They didn't even offer a discount as I had gotten a discount through expedia. She also let us know it would be a $500 hold for using a debit card. Plus, we waited in line for an hour and a half, and then when we got to the desk, we were told it would be up to another half an hour to get our vehicle. We asked for an SUV, and got a sport model, which is smaller. I had my 9 month old with me and wanted to cry by the time we got our vehicle. I will NEVER book through them again.

Thrify ar DFW airport doesn't abide by the thrify policy of holding the reservation for 2 hr after closing if the flight is delayed.
I already paid and the flight was delayed, as the flight details where included in the reservation the customer service said they would hold the reservation for 10pm which is cloaing time plus 2 hr as I already paid.
The representative is not available when I reached at 11:30 pm. I'm deeply frustrated by the Incident.
I didn't know what else to do when you guys don't follow the own policy you set for yourselves.

First time using this company reserved a car flew into Myrtle Beach international airport went to pick up my car rental. The lady behind the counter was named Ebony, which is February 9, 2023. She was beyond rude, insulting and humiliating. She just looked at me up and down and said you are a DNR whatever that meant do not rent to. I have a perfect driving record high credit score, and a credit card. She typed in my license number wrong compared me to somebody else and would not rent to me. My fiancé said then rent to me and she said no you're associated with her. I finally got a manager on the phone. This is now 9 o'clock at night after flying to be told you're all set. We requested a compact car she put us in a Dodge pick up truck that could haul a horse trailer. I cannot drive or park this truck for three days we had it check engine light oil change light and the tire light kept coming on. We called for roadside assistance. They kept hanging up on us. This was the entire waking weekend was extremely stressful. No one will call me back. It's now been a week . I keep getting outsourced to another country. They are no help and I cannot get any customer service on the phone. I was also promised a full return for my rental and nothing not even an email. This is so frustrating. Beware never went from this company ever again.

On February 2 I traveled from Sacramento California to Memphis Tennessee. I got to Thrifty rental at 9:20 pm. The guy that was waiting on me told me it was going to be about 40 to 45 min wait, because they had to wash the car. I looked around and there was a line of people waiting for the same thing. I wait approximately 55 min. Before the guy call me up to the counter. I really think this is so unprofessional and unnecessary. Because I prepaid for the car so my car should have been waiting on me. Know one wants to get off a long ride and still have to wait an hour for a car. It's just bad business. I'm a very unsatisfied customer. Sincerely Susan Arnold

My Thrifty Rental car broke down. I spent two days dealing with the car and your service people. The second day was over two hours and then the customer folks told me to ride with to tow truck to the rental car place to exchange cars, except they sent him to a broken car depot. So I was stuck at a depot, he was nice enough to drop me off but now I've been charged extra for my rental car-above what I've already paid for the original charges and I've wasted hours this week. I can't wait to put this story on social media. Thanks thrifty great experience, especially since I'm renting a car because I'm banged up from a car accident!!

Rented a car through Thrifty, Hertz, Dollar car rental at the Reno international airport.
First- 3 people at the counter but only 1 to help. She was rude and tried to charge us almost $400. Had to rent through Bookings.com to get a lower price. Then they tried to charge us $125 over the price we reserved online.
Finally got our car and still had to pay over the price quoted.
We are in Reno NV in winter. It's snowy and icy and the power steering goes out on the freeway. We get to a place we can get off and the car dies in the middle of an intersection.
Tried calling several number to try to get a hold of someone at Thrifty and got the run around for over an hour. I had to select the number that I was the police checking on rental info just to get to an actual human.
No tow, no Uber, no lift. 3 hours waiting in the snow and 25 degrees temps. I will be filing a complaint with corporate. This company is terrible. Do NOT rent from them.

I was very apprehensive about renting a car at the MDW location (Chicago) because of the predominate negative reviews, but our experience was perfect! The process was quick and the vehicle was excellent and clean. Thank you!

Alex at Thrifty, SeaTac Airport, was extremely helpful, twice. She sorted out an upgrade for me, then offered to find a new car after a few days when the trunk lock stopped working. In the end they fixed the trunk lock. I can't praise her highly enough for her customer service.

Well, it seems like my comment may be of the minority opinion about Thrifty, but here it goes. I had the BEST experience at the Thrifty Car Rental in Honolulu on Nimitz Hwy. The manager of the store was hands down the most professional individual I have ever dealt with in the many years of my history of renting cars. He went over and beyond to accommodate my son and I. I had forgotten my driver's license on the mainland and this gentleman honored my reservation and rented the car to my son. He was very concerned and incredibly nice and such a cool guy. I will be visiting again in August and will definitely be using his agency again for my car rental needs. Thank you for ensuring my visit with my son was a success!

I rented a car for two weeks with Trifty. I didn't even had to wait in line for five minutes, I had reservation. Giovanni pulled it right up, in less then 20 minutes I was on my way to visit family. The car was spotless, needless to say the staff was very professionnal and show that they care. To return it back it only tooked about 10 minutes and I was on my way to the airport. Thank you Trifty Staff for all that you do
