  • I am sick of UPS and their lazy drivers. I stay a mile away from their wharehouse. My driver has twice lied and said that he has attempted to deliver a package when I truly and actually was here the whole day waiting. Today at 6:14 the driver said the apartment number was either incorrect or missing. Guess what? I checked the shipping address that Costco had and UPS and they are both complete and correct. The driver just does not like to stop here on his way to get off work and apparently that is ok with UPS.

  • I don't know what's going on with UPS. I am experiencing similar things as some of the other postings. As a side note, I recently had a college student studying abroad in Italy. We needed to send a package to her. UPS was going to charge in excess of $60 for a very modest package. The UPS person actually told us to use USPS, which we did at a cost of only about $15. Back to the similar issues as the other postings: we have experienced delivery delays that have worsened over the past year. Also, I recently was to receive a package that I was not originally informed needed a signature. Someone was home for the first delivery attempt. The doorbell was not rung, and the driver couldn't possibly have knocked because our very protective dog didn't even stir. The sticker left on the side door had the first box checked, indicating a signature was required. I signed the back as indicated, and wrote on the front of the notice that the signature was on the back of the note. The next day the second delivery attempt was made, and I only know this because I found the notice lying on the front porch. This driver hadn't looked at the side door. This second notice that was left again had the same checkbox selected, the first one on the form. I contacted UPS, of course at the 800 number since you can't possibly ever be allowed to call the distribution facility directly. The person I spoke to indicated that the drivers had mis-marked the form, and that a person actually had to be present to sign for and accept the delivery. Here's the other catch: UPS was completely unwilling to try to deliver the package at a time of day when we were more likely to be home...like anytime after 3p. They were also unwilling to have someone call to contact us in case we could meet the driver at the house at a time convenient to them. They also were unwilling to call me, the customer, prior to a failed 3rd attempt and then return of the package to the vendor. I needed the package as it contained medication, and unfortunately this second attempt occurred on a Friday. The package wouldn't be at the distribution center until at least 7p, and they were open for pick-up until 8 or 8:30. The problem again is that the facility is over half an hour away and by the time this follow up occurred it was going to be next to impossible to get to the facility. The following Monday, as the package was again on the truck, we couldn't pick it up until after 7p. I stayed late at work to decrease the drive to the facility, drove there to pick up the package, and upon picking it up noticed that it was damaged. A large rip was in the lower one side of the box, and the smaller medication bottles were able to easily be pulled from the box. We had no idea whether any were missing. A report had to be filed before accepting the package. Once I had it home, I did an inventory, and all items were accounted for. The box was well packed by the sender, but despite that, there was additional indication of rough handling beyond the rip in the box: some of the child-proof caps and other twist caps on the medication containers had actually come off. The products were so badly jostled the containers showed marks where they had been forced into one another. The thing is I'm not the only one in my area experiencing this. A colleague of mine experienced something very similar with a signature needed: the UPS driver came to his house when he was there, he has a dog, the driver couldn't possibly have knocked as the dog didn't respond. This person happened to notice the truck in the street and then saw the notice on his door. He had had so much trouble with UPS that he got in his car, drove down the street until the UPS truck stopped, at which point he pulled in front of the truck to make sure he could talk to the driver. He got his package. What is up with this????

  • UPS employees stole my UPS package. A family member shipped a brand new handbag worth $2,600 via UPS 3 day guarantee. The package was packaged properly with the handbag wrapped in cloth, then placed in a small box. This small box was then placed in a larger box. The larger box contained styrofoam and padding. When I received the UPS package, the packing tape on the bottom part of the box looked frayed. In addition, while the top and sides of the box were taped with many layers of packing tape, the bottom of the box was only taped with one layer of packing tape. Also, the box was very very light - as if nothing was inside. I opened the box and inside was the small box. The small box was empty - only the cloth remained. Someone at UPS had opened my package en route and took out the contents. I have contacted UPS but they are being non-responsive and uncooperative. UPS just keeps on telling me that "they are sorry this happened" and that "they are looking into it". UPS should take responsibility for this because it is one of their employees that stole and committed a federal felony. I will never use UPS again and will bring an action against UPS in small claims court.

  • Package got sent back to the shipper after the second attempt. First notice was Jan 19, then on Jan 20 package was sent by stated final attempt. Second issue was package was signature reqired, well the driver let someone sign for it whom I do not know, and does not live in the same bldge that I do the package was very important and it inconvience me terrible. I had to go try order another one, so I talk to supervisor Ms Harris and aks if the packadge could be deliverd between the hours of 8am and 12pm since the driver made the mistake and inconvience me, she states that there was nothing she could do and would contact the manager. Well that did not happen so I had to go and pick up my package ay the doravillle location, for a mistake that that they made. Ask for the cooperate number but no one would give it to me. I could go on with great details about both situation but would be to long tried o make it short.

  • This is a major rip off. A company sends a return tag to send something back and UPS wants to charge me a fee for picking it up.
The UPS truck goes by here 8 - 10 times a day. Real "CUSTOMER SERVICE". I'll use another company from now on, and will ask merchants that ship to me to avoid UPS when possible.

  • A UPS driver ran in the side of a truck owned by Mr.WOODROW SIMONS and the driver failed to provide proof of insurance instead called the company and a guy talk Mr. SImons and promised to take care of the damages, of course two months go by and then Mr. Simons received a letter denying the claim. I would like to know if anyone can tell me if UPS has any insurance to be in business in Missouri, I have contacted the Attorney General and they are having trouble finding proof. IS UPS GOING OUT OF BUSINESS? What bunch of chiken sh@t UPS is. I would recomend using anyone but these guys.

  • This has got to be the worst experience ever when needing to have a package received through UPS. Expecting something very important needed for a meeting. Was expected to arrive on Monday Jan 25th, so I stayed at home ALL DAY waiting until I finally decided to track the package. A message at UPS stated that an attempt was made and will re-deliver next day. Trust me and know that no attempt was ever made at all, the driver just decided not to do his or job. So again, here it is the next day Tues. Jan 26th and I am waiting again. As if I do not have other things to tend to outside of my home. I was told by a representative the evening before that the package will be delivered anytime between noon and 3pm. I stayed looking out the window and going up and down the stairs to see if the driver may have just left notice which I knew had not, because it was not left yesterday neither. So at 310p I decide to track my package and there it is, another message stating that I the customer requested that I pick up the package at the facility. So here I am again waiting around for a package to be delivered and nothing again. Finally as I put in this complaint, a supervisor calls and is very nasty about what I driver could not have done because I mentioned that he is not working. End result of that conversation, she says she will see what she can do..No, her response should have been the driver is on the way with my package!! I am very upset and I hate right now that I even used this service and I have another package to be delivered by Friday. Next time I may have to pick up my own package because the UPS person in my area, does not want to work odviously, just recieve a free check!!

  • An overnight service for a very important small package was initiated Wednesday, sent Thursday & I now learn that I may not receive it until as late as 7pm Friday. AND I must sit in my house & wait for it to show up. The truly frustrating point is that the 800 number in Florida won't/can't give me the local contact number so that I might have SOME idea of when delivery might take place. I have no choice but to leave for 2 unavoidable situations this afternoon, despite sitting here at home all day, gut twisting. I will never allow anything of great importance to be sent via UPS ever again. This has been a very unpleasant & frustrating experience. You need to allow people to get at least a vague Idea of WHEN the delivery time or at the very least, let the delivery person know that slipping it under the door mat is ok. They wouldn't/couldn't even let me send a message!

  • UPS are incredibly poor.
I have recently had am item purchased from the USA and then sent to Australia. The item is now quite late and I have been hit with a quarantine fee (I understand this is standard procedure? but why wasn't I charged this up front so I know how much the purchase would end up costing?) at an additional $316.00 Australian.

At present nobody at UPS can tell me when I will receive the item and have had conflicting reports as to which state of Australia it is actually in. I have had to call UPS six times today still trying to work out where my $1700.00 purchase currently is and if I will receive it any time soon.

One of the calls I made this afternoon resulted in a lady putting her hand over the phone and announcing to her workmates that "Hey I've got the guitar guy" to which there was laughter in the background. When I asked why she felt the need to do that no apology was forthcoming and her response "Well...you have called several times today". As I tried to explain I will continue to call until I get someone that can tell me where my purchase is and if I will recieve it sometime soon. When I asked to speak to a superior I was informed she would put me through to Susan and I was then put through to some guy's voicemail that I could bareluy even comprehend. When I called back I was told that I had to understand that they are working on it, when I said you need to understand that I need to know a little more info than that I was hung up on.

It takes a bit to get me this annoyed and as yet still do not know where or when I will will see the guitar. I can cop mistakes, these things happen, we are all human but it was humiliating dealing with these people today. UPS: Utterly Pathetic Service.

  • Today I came home to find a third (final) attempt notice on my door. I had signed the first 2 notices as instructed on the form. The third notice had completely different signature requirement box checked and I was informed that it was now my responsibility to go to the UPS center to get it. If I had been given the correct information in the first place, I could have had the package re-routed to my office and signed for it in person there. Both of the previous notices were taped to my front door when the driver left the third. If he had bothered to look at them, he would have seen the mistake. This is the second time this has happened with this type of package in the last year. I never voluntarily use UPS!

  • I recently had a gift from my dad delivered by UPS. I was tracking online & noticed that it stated it had been delivered "at the gate". Well, I don't have a gate. I was home all day. No UPS truck was here. I called for hours & kept getting told someone would call me back. 6 hours later I found out that the delivery driver set my package out on the side of the road by an old farm gate 1/2 mile from my house. There is no house there, it is abandoned land. The only explanation I have received is "Well, he brought it that far, surely you could go the rest of the way & get it yourself" I refuse to even order from a company that ships UPS & so does all my family & friends. FedEx delivers all my packages now. Never a problem.

  • Due to a blizzard, I called and tried to get my package rerouted to a family member in town (To be held until I get there). I was told, "If it can't be delivered, it will be sent back and then you can have the shipper send it to another address."
I wonder how long that will take.
I guess they outsorce the calls, I had ahard time understanding the guy, and he made NO effort to help.
There is No customer service anymore.

The item is now 15 miles from my house but will take another 5 more days...so lets see thats about 15 days when they said 2 to 7 days. I guess the last 15 miles they are going to walk it here or strap it to the back of a turtle and point it this way. Anonymous

  • My pkg from UPS was shipped 10 days ago for delivery 3 days ago. The operator and site said it was in transit and out for delivery. I checked today & my pkg said it could not be delivered due to weather. I live 8 miles from their dispatch location. I called UPS and they told me their site is not accurate, that it is only an estimate of where the item should be, and that my pkg is on the other side of the States &won't make it by Christmas but he assured me that eventually it would show up & my child would get her Christmas gift. This is some of the worst service I have seen in a long time. BTW: I live in the area where the blizzard happened& they were using that as an excuse for nondelivery.I guess he didn't know that Colorado is not on the East coast! Flap your wings& deliver your pkg yourself or use the good ole US Postal Service. I'm using the post office because I learned my lesson

  • So it's Dec. 23rd. Last Tuesday I ordered a package to be delivered at 3 day ground which cost me an extra 40 dollars. I regularly have packages delivered to my townhouse. I'm told to expect the delivery on Friday. Friday comes and goes no package. I check the tracking number the next day only to find out that yes it was in my area (mufreesboro, tn) but the driver said they couldn't find my townhouse# (which obviously they could since the packages from my parent arrived the next day). UPS took it upon themselves to correct the address to an address I lived at five years ago in Chicago, IL!! When I called, they told me to call the shipper. I called the company and the guy who owns it has been working with me ever since to get my package back. He has the receipt and the correct address and he has no idea why they changed it and UPS wouldn't give him a reason. They told him it would be delivered to my house today, Dec. 23rd. Well I checked the tracking number again and it's still in Chicago. This is my husband's large Xmas gift. It cost me around $400. I have no idea if we will even receive this at this point. The company I bought it from it going to try to overnight a new product so it's here tomorrow, but I couldn't believe that UPS would try to deliver to an address the supposadly couldn't find, then think that "oh the right address must be this one in a completely different state that's nowhere near the original delivery address"
I'm more than peeved. I'm filing with the BBB.

  • HORRIBLE customer service! The driver lies and then when I put in a complaint all of a sudden the package must have been on another truck, nice CYA. I call only to be told someone would call me back, sure that happened, not. Worst service ever!!! I am appalled at the lack of customer service from UPS - they don't care about the customers and why should they, they already have their money and your package. You are at their mercy. They don't return phone calls and have no interest in even pretending they care about their customers.

  • They are totally irresponsible and negligent is resolving property damage claims. I have been passed off to numerous people/departments and am still waiting for insurance carrier to contact me to resolve this situation. The driver claims he is not responsible for damage (surprise!!) and only after threatening to contact my alarm company to view security camera tape for proof, did they tell me they would contact their carrier (which I still have not heard from yet). Anyway, I did tell them I would no longer order from companies that ship UPS and would inform the companies as such. Hopefully, somebody has better luck than I am at this point dealing with UPS.

  • I ordered a Blue Ray DVD player to be delivered to my home. The UPS driver neglected to verify the correct address, thus the package was given to my next door neighbor. UPS neglected to obtain a signature for the item. In addition, UPS did not notify me of the whereabouts of my package. When I called to inquire the status, I was told by a Representative that the package was left on my doorstep. UPS gave false information regarding this delivery.

  • I recently shipped 14 boxes from Montreal to Vancouver. Almost all the boxes arrived with contents broken or pulverized beyond recognition in a few cases. One large picture box marked fragile-glass had at least 3 foot prints on the side. Does this sound like careless handling to you? After some runaround they sent me a form letter (having never inspected the damage) stating "the evaluation revealed deficiencies in the packaging. Do they have a crystal ball?

    Never again 12/10/09 10:53AM

  • This company stinks - it's absolutely ridiculous that a customer cannot be told whether their package is scheduled for early morning or early evening delivery. I'm not asking for a specific time -I'm just asking for a 5-6 hour RANGE....they already know their routes and can tell you this info in seconds by your zip code.

But instead, they show zero regard for their customers' busy schedules. I have to be trapped at home for 11 hours straight because the package is too costly to leave at the door and I have no idea whether it's getting here at 10am or 7pm. They refuse to give you the local branch office numbers or help you in any way. This company badly needs some competition who will show them how to treat customers right. When another player comes along - and one always does eventually -I won't be able to switch fast enough.

  • Ordered some medical supplies for my elderly neighbor who doesn't use internet. I live in a townhouse that has its own individual address (no unit# on address). Ups driver assumed (don't know why) that my address needed an apartment number.???? HUH? Place was built in '65 and has never had a unit number as part of address. It has its own street address! I'm 4 yards away from a street and I have a mail slot on my front door. Called 800# told local center would call me back before 10 a.m. and that package would be redelivered by someone who knew my address. Waited all afternoon in front of a 7x7 foot bay window and no ups went thru my small cul de sac street. Realized online that driver claimed that he attempted to redeliver but that I wasn't home to sign. Called 800# again, got a nice guy, SAUL, promised that local ctr would call. Went to pick up package, customer service woman really rude, didn't care to listen that driver couldn't find my house on 2 tries and that he lied and that he couldn't figure out from the street address or zip code that I didn't live in some freaking apt complex like he thought. Got my package, got home and found a msg from ups telling me that package was ready for pick up. Only positive experience: the last customer rep, SAUL at the 800#. UPS SUCKS. The phone # I found online to the local ctr. was busy all the time.

  • I called this number from my cell phone which has a limited number of available minutes to make calls with. I was hoping to get a simple answer to my question but that proved to be impossible. All I wanted was a contact number for the UPS office in my home town of Norfolk Virginia. Instead I got transferred to an automated answering service which gave me another number to call. Okay so I called the next number and instead of person I could speak to I got another machine with a series of options which had nothing to do with what I wanted to know. This whole system of so called customer service is ridiculous and far too complicated to be at all helpful. I mean how many hoops do I have to jump through to get a simple phone number to the local office?? It is absolutely stupid that there is not a directory of phone numbers available on the UPS web-site. There is a store locator on the site but if you use it all you get is an address and the name of the on-site manager, but no telephone number. UPS may be a world wide player in the delivery business but they are failures at simple customer service!!

  • Let me tell you what Brown did for me. We ordered products from a catalogue store, 3 products, 3 boxes. When our packages arrived in Oklahoma City, all were scanned arriving and unloaded. Two of our packages were scanned departing and were headed to our home. Somehow the 3rd package wasn't scanned as departed and headed for the border.
We promptly contacted Brown customer service for their assistance in this matter, but we were informed they are not able to assist customers with packages that have jumped ship - or truck. We were told the package had left El Paso, but our tracking info didn't show a departure scanning. She informed me she would not know where the package was until it was scanned again by the driver. So we are left wondering where our poor little package might be...New Mexico, CA, back in Colorado. Hopefully this saga will have a happy ending with our package being located.
Fortunately we do have an awesome delivery person and we don't want him to lose his job, but maybe He could find a job at Fed Ex.

  • UPS

Today,09-14-09 at 4:31 pm I received a cell phone call from the UPS driver stating he was at the convenience store approximately 7 miles from my rural home. Assuming he was calling for directions to find my home I started to relate them to him when he announced that AT&T had addressed the package incorrectly and that he had already serviced my area for the day and that I had one of two choices: 1. Drive 7 miles to the store to pick the package up myself from the convenience store clerk OR 2. I could wait until tomorrow and wait until he delivers to my [very remote] area tomorrow. He stated that he had to get back to his home base town which is 35 miles away to deliver packages to stores before they close for the day. When I asked him why other customers packages were more important than fullfilling his committment to delivering mine he had no reply. He left the package at the convenience store and my husband picked it up on his way home. Thank God for a sweet husband [who unlike the UPS man is in a very customer oriented business] completed the delivery that the UPS man din't care about. I contacted UPS at 4:40pm and was given the 1-800-742-5877, talked with Derek who very patiently listened to my complaint, check the system and informed me that the UPS driver had not even put in to the system an attempt to deliver and assured me that his actions were inexcuseable and that I would receive a phone call from someone in the next hour to resolve the situation. At 5:30pm I received a call from someone named Rhonda who supposedly was calling from the terminal in the town that this UPS driver worked out of and I immediately could sense that NOTHING was going to get accomplished by talking to her because she was just a fountain of excuses for POOR SERVICE by UPS!! Her resolution to the problem was that she will PASS the information on to the UPS driver's supervisor and he will handle it. When I requested that the supervisor contact me via phone tomorrow again she began spewing a volcano full of excuses as to how he is in and out all day long, so needless to say I WON'T hold my breath for this driver's boss to contact me. Instead, I will inform everyone that I know to please use Fed-EX or USPS [who by the way deliver frequently to my home & don't have a problem finding it] and maybe if enough people finally get tired of UPS' poor excuse for customer service we will finally see less and less of the big brown trucks running up and down our highways. After all, they aren't the ONLY delivery service available, JUST the worst one!!!

    DON'T GET MAD, GET EVEN!! 9/14/09 3:58PM

  • After another nightmare using UPS I thought it would get better by there complaints about there customers service. As I read all the problems I will never use them again and I could care less if there the last delivery company to use I will walk across country than use there service. The think that by lying about people being home and using signature request that people wouldn't figure this out. They should do more about there customer service then spend money on a losing nascar. Someday maybe your company will wake up and see that it's falling apart.

  • I am an irate customer and would like everyone to know that UPS has the worst service of any carriers. I waited home for a packaged to be delivered on friday between 2 and 5 P.M. The driver was there but somehow didn't knock hard enough for me to hear. The door was open and I was 5 feet from it. After numerous calls to UPS they told me to come pick it up after 8 that night. I paid to have this delivered to my house and because it was friday and the driver apparently had to get home they wouldn't come back. I work in customer service and had to go back on many occasions to people's houses but that's part of business. I hope more people will not use them and go to FED EX. This was the worst service and I hope they go out of business.

  • It seems that I al+6ways have a problem when receiving shipments with UPS. My husband orders things and receives them with no problem. However, they always have a problem finding my house when the package is addressed to me. So I am sitting around waiting on my package of items I have ordered from my supplier continuously checking the tracking number until around 5PM I finally get the exception code. I call ups and after talking with the operator I am told that they will have someone from the local office call me. 15 minutes go by and finally they call. After again explaining the situation they tell me they will have the driver call me. I never get the phone call, but what do you know about an hour after I talked with them the package appears. Well Today I am awaiting another package delivery so I can get the products to m customers. The tracking info says in transit so trying to expedite the process I contact UPS to see if they can contact the driver to make sure he is not having any problems finding my address. I am told that I will have to monitor the tracking number online or call them back hourly to make sure there is no exception on this dellivery as because it does not show an attempt has been made to deliver they cannot contact the drive. How bogus is that. It would make everything go alot easier to just contact the driver and give them specific instructions on where my house is located so as the driver would not have to make a trip back out to my house.

  • the sender from new jersey commissioned UPS to deliver a package for me, expected to be delivered yesterday, august 20. based on the email sent to the sender, it was confirmed by UPS that the package will be delivered august 20. i badly need that package to be delivered to me on said date. and so we had to commission UPS, what we thought was a reputable courier to do the service for us.

based on your website yesterday, my package is already in Pasig, and at 9:59, the description was "destination scan", and with a status that my package will be delivered between 9am and 7pm that day. initially, i happily noted that things seem to be moving on schedule. and so i waited, and waited but nothing arrived. at past 7pm, i again checked your website to find out that the sked and status were unchanged, which gave me a gleam of hope that my package may still be delivered late that evening. but nothing arrived.

early today, i again checked the website to find out the the sked was moved to tomorrow, aug22. and so i called the UPS Philippines Customer Hotline # at 8am, the time stated in the website to be the start time of office hours. A security guard answered my call and asked me to call at 8:30am, because, as he explained, the customer service agents normally arrive at 8:30am. already dismayed about everything but no other option to take, i called the customer hotline again at 8:30 and spoke with migs. she confirmed that the new delivery date is tomorrow, as it is a holiday today in the Philippines, and when i practically begged for her help, she advised me to call your Pasig office to request them to deliver my package today.

and so i called your Pasig office and again another security guard answered my call. and when i asked for someone to help me with my package, he asked me to call in 1 hour as that person is busy. but then i insisted and explained to the guard how important the package is to me. and then he referred me to donald. donald asked for my tracking # and asked me to call in 15mins.

which i did. donald said that my package should have really been delivered yesterday but the motorbike/vehicle of the delivery man broke down, and so all the packages assigned to him were not delivered. i asked how come UPS did not do anything about the situation, like transferring the assignment to another delivery man...my point is how come UPS is not committed to the delivery date, cause if you are, there are many ways to handle the situation and fulfill your commitment to your customers. donald can't give me any explanation, other than saying that he is assigned in the morning shift, and another guy was the one on duty when the vehicle broke down...really administrative matters which is not the point as far as i am concerned.

i also asked donald what is the liability of UPS regarding matters such as what happened to me. all he could say is that no one wanted the vehicle to break down, suggesting that there is no liability on UPS' part.

    my points are:
    1. fullfill your delivery commitment
    2. if there are situations which crop up, and in any business this happens, do everything possible and stay committed
    3. when you post in your website that your office is open from this time to this time, make sure you are
    4. a customer service hotline, should be the only point of contact for all customer concerns/complaints, and a customer should not be passed on to another department to follow up. it's the job of customer service to be the conduit.
    5. assuming what donald said is true, that you are not liable for late delivery caused by things which is really part of operations (e.g., break down of vehicle), i think this is so wrong.
    6. your security guards are very good telephone operators.

i am sending you this email to enable you to assess your process/procedures, and aim for improvement. this experience of mine with UPS clearly defined what UPS is all about, which scares me to have anything to do with you in the future.

  • UPS no longer holds packages after the final attempt, three tries and that is it. I called 12 minutes after their 7pm cutoff time and was told there was nothing they could do. After complaining enough they were going to find my package that night and told me I could come get it but when I got there it was not there so I have to go back.

The problem with the three tries is my driver either doesn't leave the notices or they don't stick to my door. I've complained to them before about this too. Do not UPS if you have a choice. Go FEDEX or USPS.

    donotusethem 8/20/09 1:52PM

  • I can not stand UPS. I am looking for a package, odd terms - I have no tracking number! If you have this problem with Fedex they can search by address and zip, not UPS you MUST have a tracking number. Do you know what U.P.S. stands for U People Suck! Pick Fedex at least at Christmas time they will not strike like U People Suck do annually! Their website is and always has been difficult to navigate.

  • Don't use UPS if you live in a rural area. If the regular driver is away, I can't get my packages delivered. Apparently no one else can find us. I have called and given directions, this doesn't help. My phone number is on the package, but the driver is NOT allowed to contact you. So my package isn't being delivered and keeps going back to UPS each day instead of out to me. If your package is important and you need it in a timely manner, use FEDEX.

  • I went to a shipping center called the UPS Store to have a box professionally packaged and shipped by them. I figured I couldn't go wrong with them.

I paid $72.00 to ship a 25 lb. box by 3-day select on July 10th. I've yet to see this box. Supposedly, it was delivered 2:30 in the afternoon on my porch. I was home that day until at least 6pm. It's easy to hear the truck pull into my driveway or near the street. I didn't hear or see it. Nor did any of my neighbors that I asked.

The driver visited me on a Saturday afternoon of the following week to have me save an affidavit so he could re-trace his steps. He was completely casual/careless about the whole thing and made it a point to say that it wasn't his route; he was filling in for someone.

Apparently, I declared the value $200.00 less than what I should have. So if they refund me it will only cover one of the items in the box, all new in original packaging. And that refund has to come from the shipper at the independently-owned UPS store, not UPS themselves.

I'm reluctant to use UPS again.

  • I had a package to drop off so I went to the local UPS facility (A real UPS facility) and found a sign on the door - hours 0900-1200 and 1500-1800. Say what?? a 3 hour lunch hour. Since I got there at 2:45 I decided to wait and it actually opened up at 1510 and the guy who was working there was plainly irritated at the length of the line. What used to be a 5 minute process to drop off a package has now become a 20 minute exercise in frustration. Couple this with packages that are covered with footprints and surly drivers and a once proud american company has started on the road to self destruction.

  • UPS called today claiming that I owe them money. $120. They won't provide any accounting of it, except via fax (which I can't really get, not having a fax machine). The CSR insists that the credit card I provided didn't work, despite no other merchant having issues with it, and then directed me to a section of their website I can't access. She was cordial, but clueless and less than helpful, and had no reply when asked why I can't see what I owe online.

    Clueless,

    Anonymous 8/6/09 7:06AM

  • Some perspectives on UPS: Package was not delivered on time, nor to the address listed on the shipping label. Initial review of their online tracking data shows that the package was delivered to 2 distinctly different locations on this planet at the same exact time. When I questioned this with the local rep, he had a different system, and different information. Lots of technical jargon as to why. The follow up from the UPS "Trace" department is made via a phone system that leaves you with an invalid number. So you can't communicate with them unless they call you. They don't. The lack of Customer Service number referenced here has already been addressed by others. Once the driver was located, he referenced an address, quote "just as stated on the manifest", that was not on the manifest. Anywhere. No possibility for any confusion. And I am now dependant on him to accurately admit the error to UPS in order to get a refund? Which if he does, will take 10 working days to receive? Needless to say, I will choose a different way to get packages from A to Z. They say backpacking is good for you.

    Anonymous 8/5/09 2:42PM

  • Thank you! Finally, a human being! It is impossible to find a working number on the UPS website. It seems as if they deliberately make it a challenge for customers to reach them when there are problems. They are constantly taking my packages "Out for Delivery," but since I live further out in their sevice area, the drivers decide to wait until the next day. They always make up some "signature required" excuse, even when shipping instructions clearly state a signature is not req'd. Then they say it is to the drivers discretion; they can ask for a signature if they feel security is an issue. Give me a break! My nearest neighbor is a five minute walk, and I live in one of the premier neigborhoods in the county. The truth is, the driver gets tired and doesn't want to finish their route!

    rockie128 7/31/09 4:17AM

  • YES finally! The sticker UPS leaves tells you to go to their website, which is a total pain if you're only want to hold one package.

The prompts do allow you to have UPS hold your package instead of deliver it. Not sure how I would have found the number without this website.

  • I had ordered a package to be delivered to my apartment. When I came home after work, I saw the delivery slip on my door. Instead of leaving a time that they would return the next day, the delivery person had delivered it to my neighbor and made them sign for it. I couldn't believe that a delivery company on their FIRST attempt to deliver a package had my neighbor sign for MY package, whom I have never met or talked to. The back of the slip even says that you must sign a release to have your neighbor sign for the package, which I never authorized and never would have. I think that it's poor customer service for a delivery person to not want to come back the next day rather than doing their job correctly and delivering for at least a second attempt or leaving with the post office.

  • I just went to UPS located in Lafayette Street in Williamsburg, Virginia and it was the most awful experience of all. The customer service was terrible from the two male customers representatives. Sorry don't have their name, but they treated me like I was a nobody. And the sad part is that I still don't know if their vindictive self will place my precious package in the mail.

They were awful. They look down to me and let me wait for 15 minutes after I had done the line twice due to first asking for tape and second to pay for the package. One of the males all he has to do was take the package and place it behind the counter in a safe place. He did not want to do that. I could tell that it was done in purpose. I will never come back to this place. And all my co-workers will know what happen to me. I already have a co- worker that told me that I should know better. She agreed and said that she knows better than to go to this place ever again. It is busy and the customer service is slow and terrible!

  • I never use UPS but was recently forced to due to a vendor shipping for me. We paid for the highest priority service, next-day early morning (they won't guarantee a time like FedEx), only to wake up the next morning and be told by UPS (after having to Google their phone info - they don't post a number in their online tracking interface) that the package was "delayed at the origin facility" for reasons unable to be determined by any of the reps I spoke to. One went so far as to say that this explanation is entered when the package is "overlooked" at the pickup facility. Overlooked! 2000 pieces of product literature will now NOT be included in a sponsorship package I have already paid for, resulting in who knows how much lost sales revenue.

It's obviously a small bldg, and has a locked front door to the bldg, so the driver should not have access. Since the pkg lacked the apt #, driver did not leave a note. What did that have to do with the note? He had the name. Did he think that my neighbors would think my name was theirs? The complex also has an office. Driver did nothing but MAIL a notice to me. I got it AFTER the pkg was on its way to the sender. Obviously the driver gave not a whit about getting that pkg to me, nor did the customer "service" person. They tell me one minute my package is in one place then they tell me its somewhere else. Then they call me back and tell me they can not find the package at all. That is just day one. Day two, it's 5 o'clock and my packages supposed to be delivered today are not here, nor have they found the lost package from yesterday. • UPS LIES about attempting deliveries! I sat at home waiting all day for a package. Called several times and was told each time that the driver was running late but that the package would be delivered by 7:00 pm. So I waited and waited at home. Checked online status from 6:30 through 7:30 - no change. Then, at 7:50, noticed that the status changed to say that no one was home to receive the package. What a LIE!!!!!!!! This is not the first time this has happened to me. The problem is that there is no recourse. They don't even give you the option of picking up the package on a weekend.

In tracking the package online I found the entry "THE RECEIVER IS ON A HOLIDAY. DELIVERY WILL BE ATTEMPTED WHEN THE RECEIVER RETURNS / PACKAGE WILL BE DELIVERED NEXT BUSINESS DAY-NO SATURDAY GUARANTEE". I called UPS and was told that this is a message for delivery to a business and that delivery was attempted but the business was closed - IT'S A RESIDENCE!!! NO DELIVERY ATTEMPT WAS EVER MADE as I've been sitting on my front porch waiting and would have noticed. When a local UPS person called me back, I was told that UPS is closed today (Mardi Gras)and I pointed out the delivery lie, she told me "It was "sheeted" that way." So, "sheeted" means "damn lie" huh? I don't live in New Orleans but 40 miles away. I HATE UPS. If I had been given a choice, I would have insisted on FedEx delivery. Something like this happens with every UPS delivery to me. Since when is UPS closed on a Tuesday???? If UPS is closed, how was my package put on a truck for delivery at 5:12am or gone out for delivery? Once again... I HATE UPS!

Told to get an estimate, was told to call store where I mailed it, they told me to call an 800 number. This went on for several weeks. Finally told the claim was denied because I didn't pack it correctly and that I had signed Terms and Conditions. I've ask to see the Terms and Conditions I signed. Haven't received it yet. I very carefully packed the table, I was not told the insurance is good only if they pack the item. The Terms and Conditions I supposedly signed said they have the right to refuse mailing if a package doesn't meet standards. They mailed it so I'm saying it met standards. Your local service is terrible!!! We were expecting closing documents for our home. The driver decided our address was undeliverable because we have a gate. The gate was opened and apparently inadvertently closed later in the day. Rather than call me( they have my phone number) the driver or walk 250 feet with the package, he decided it was too difficult. This is disgusting!!

UPS has delivered here many times... many times late. But this episode is incredible, and has caused me over $100 so far. It seems to me that you need to reeducate your local staff.. or fire them and get people who care about the service UPS is supposed to provide.

Sure enough, no package. I called on Wednesday morning and was told that because I called after 7 pm last week, the message did not go out "on time" (never mind that this was over a span of SIX DAYS). • Your customer service employees rely on citing policy as an answer for losing my uninsured Christmas presents. It was an oversight that the fee for insurance was not paid, unfortunately, as then it wasn't important enough to be handled carefully by your employees. While on hold asking to be sent to a supervisor whom,I had hoped cared,a recording kept playing about your wonderful service and asked "what can brown do for you". The answer find my gifts! It was worth over 500 but it wasn't only the cost but the loss of sending our love and caring to my son and daughter-in-law ,whom couldn't join us for the holiday. I regret that not one person, and I spoke to many, said that they understood how upset I was and wished they could reimburse me for my loss not only in money but in the time it took to purchase, wrap, and send it and entrust it to a company that seems to care so little. I offered to send $3 fo insurance coverage to you to be reimbursed for my time and money. If I asked for that insurance prior to sending my gifts no one would have unwrapped and looked to see if it was worth that but yet it would have been insured for that amount based on my account of what was in there, somewhat on faith. It had to be declared before I sent it to be reimbursed I was told but it was not a verification. Why is it that with documentation proving what was in the box not as important to you now. I feel UPS can better afford this loss than I can and wish to have my package returned. So,if anyone in customer service can take the time to read this and respond to the like it would be greatly appreciated,as to why I have to absorb your mistake in loosing my package and seeming to only care about policy and not the persons involved in this loss. Thank you in advance for a response. Sorry I asked for help from"Brown" in delivering my package,it was a major loss to us and no one seems to care. Disappointed in UPS,Pat Heery

  • UPS used to be great when I lived in Madison, WI but it's been a hassle ever since I moved to Chicago, IL.

UPS can't deliver to my condo building. I can somewhat understand because the front door is around the corner from where a GPS would tell you, so I have both called UPS or put a delivery note to this affect. The local UPS told me that the location of the door to my building is on a different route so the delivery driver would be going off his route to make the delivery and therefore cannot deliver to my address. (For reference: US Postal Service & FedEx can find it.)

The icing happened today with amazon.com order, I was just notified that the package was being sent back to amazon because I refused the delivery! I was home all day - no call, no buzz. No note for me to do anything about it. No one refused the delivery, they just lied & sent the package back.

UPS - if anyone is listening - I know you need to have rules & tracking in place but if they are so tough that they actually prevent delivery to your customers, the rules are not doing what you think they should.

  • UPS spends millions of dollars on advertising which I the consumer has found to be nothing more than hype. I paid for next day delivery thru Amazon. I was supposed to get the package on 24 December. It is now 27 December and I still haven't receiver the package. It was quaranteed delivery on 24 December. UPS has not contacted me to explain their lack of performance, they have not offered me a choice to drive over to their location and pick the package up personally either. The US Mail, the paperboy, and residential dairy deliveries continue to be made. We are all driving our personal vehicles...but no UPS sightings. Next time I will refuse Amazon UPS expedited overnight delivery and have it sent by US Mail Carriers. They use real men and real women. Whats with the short pants anyway..wimps.

  • Same situation here - expecting an item that was overnighted to me, due to be delivered on Christmas Eve. Didn't show and rescheduled delivery date shows as 12/26. When I go online to track my package, it's still at the local hub, and not out for delivery, like it should be. Called the 800# to obtain more info, but they were no help. Asked if I could go to the Hub to pick my package up (the one I paid more than $60 to receive in time for Christmas) and rep told me he was unsure if my package was at the hub. Soooo frustrating! I've never had this type of experience with UPS! To top things off, another item delivered earlier this week was dropped at the incorrect address - 16921 instead of 16821. Thankfully, the person who received the package located our phone # on the paperwork inside and called us to let us know. I will NOT ship with UPS again!

    Anonymous 12/26/08 11:42AM

  • Having waited for my package and not being able to track it or talk to a human being has taught me an expensive lesson. It's time for us to get our heads out of the sand and use another carrier. Fedex has never been rude or hateful to me and my packages actually get here on time. UPS wake up. You are replaceable! When and if I ever receive the package I ordered it will be the last time I ever use or allow UPS to handle anything for me. Why would you bother contacting me? Your customer service people are supposed to do that! Isn't that their job???

    Anonymous 12/22/08 11:43AM

  • I totally agree with all comments about UPS having no customer service. I purchased an item for Christmas which was mailed UPS on December 8. It reached the hub in my state, CA on December 12. They mis-sorted it and sent it to Illinois. On December 18, they mis-sorted it again and sent it to Indiana where it originated.

I called 4 times and requested that they send it over night, I would even pay the extra postage. No luck they did nothing, said they couldn't locate the package. The sender who I had purchased the Christmas gift for my 9 year old Grandson, called 6 times and they would not do anything. UPS had to actually put a transer on the package. They finally sent it out today 12/19 to California and said I would receive it by 12/29/08. Unacceptable.
I will never deal with UPS again.

    Extremely Upset

  • Talk about bad customer service. I will never use UPS again. If I order online and UPS is affiliated with delivery of my package, I will not make the purchase. They use the excuse of drivers discretion to deliver if there are bad roads. My package was supposed to come next day. I understand things happen. The roads on our street are covered with a little snow that is covered with gravel and dirt to prevent slipping .The driver did not deliver my package yesterday because it was "Emergency Conditions". Tonight, they were less than 10 feet from my home where they turned down my street to turn around to avoid delivery again. Luckily, my husband was on his way home driving ahead their truck and was able to chase them down to get my package.God forbid if I were alone, elderly, and disabled and waiting to receive diabetic medications. When I called the Pontaic Michigan office to speak with a manager, I was yelled at and argued with and told that the drivers were not authorized deliver if they felt the truck would get stuck. That's fine, would have been nice to know before I gave them my money and would have been nice to have sympathetic management. They never apologized for anything, just got real abraisive on the phone. Horrible Company, takes peoples need and reliance on them for granted.

Not Havin it Any More! 12/18/08 7:36PM

  • customer service people no help at all just told me it was my problem if something wasnt delivered on time because of bad weather and ive been to ups office and they cant find it, and tracking number says its there.

    Anonymous 12/18/08 3:11PM

  • All I needed to do was Tech Support as my system Worldship system would not start today, I checked everywhere on ups.com for a number, I called customer service - whose clock is broke and they were not open at 7am then I called Fedex they had plenty help, we are swithing - all I needed was a phone number.

    Anonymous 12/11/08 5:06AM

  • I received a phone call last Sunday from a machine informing me that I would have a packaged delivered the following day. I work out of town and could not be home but there was no way for me to inform this machine of that.

When I returned home on Friday I had receieved 3 notices of attempted and failed deliveries. Had a person contacted me rather than a machine, there would have no missed deliveries.

Friday AM I called to find out where I had to go to pick up my package. After getting the address I drove 30 miles to the UPS hub. I was then informed that my package was on a truck and would be delivered this afternoon.

When I returned home, I went to the UPS tracking website and found out that my package had been delivered...but not to me. I was pissed and called the Gozales LA office only to find out the package had not been delivered but was still there at the hub I had visited that very morning.

At this point I have decided to have the package returned to the sender. If they are so stupid as to use UPS, then I do not want there package. Thanks UPS....you just cost me an entire day, a trip to Gonzales and you cost Fien Tool Company a $400 sale. Oh and by the way, I called your machine and cussed it like a dog.

In the future....I will never use UPS nor will my company nor will I purchase anything that is delivered by UPS.

    Fuck You 12/5/08 2:23PM

  • The person I dealt with at the UPS store on Rt.22 in Scotch Plains, NJ was rude and dismissive. I sent a Thanksgiving package of diet cookies and candy to my daughter for Thanksgiving. Never arrived. It took three weeks of 'investigation' for UPS to know this. Now I am to file a claim et al and wait another 'several weeks' to be reimbursed. This is not only ridiculous it is rude and does not engender further business. Cant trust UPS, right?

    Anonymous 12/4/08 1:12PM

  • Does UPS even read these things. I have written in repeatedly and have recieved no response. I have been lied to. My time has been wasted and I have paid for service I didn't receive. Yet, UPS will not respond.

What does it take to get their attention.

    Disgruntled913 12/4/08 7:07AM

  • I paid for overnight shipping of a law book I needed for the following week. When the book didn't arrive, I called the company. The book had been returned to the company because supposedly no one was home to receive the book. To the best of my memory, not only was I at home, but so was my husband.
The driver did not leave a note that he had attempted delivery nor did he leave the package with a neighbor, as is customary.
BUT, the best part is, when I tried to file a complaint with UPS, "Juan", informed me that there was no way to file a complaint because the driver did not leave a package. When I was requested a supervisor, I was put on hold, and lo and behold! the line went dead.
I would be an idiot to use UPS again for anything

    Anonymous 10/21/08 3:11PM

  • What a bad experience I had with UPS!!!
I called 7 times, 7 different numbers to inquire about a late fee, being transferred every time to another "who will be able to assist me". Every single time I had to wait for more the 7-10 minutes to get through. What a bad customer service!!!!!

    rousa 10/15/08 10:40AM

  • Terrible customer serice!!! I could not be more dis-satisfied.

    1. on Aug1 I brought a package to my local UPS office explaining that I needed to ship it priority to China. The woman at the counter told me what to do and gave me a delivery date (I still have the receipt) of 4Aug.

    2. On Aug3 we checked the tracking number and found that the scheduled delivery was Aug7, three days late. It was also shown that UPS did not scan the package in until Aug2, even though I dropped it off on Aug1.

    3. I called UPS and requested a refund because they made the mistake. I was told to call back after delivery to confirm it got there late.

    4. I did as told and was assured that I would be refunded and would have to wait a billing cycle.

    5. In late September, when my credit card did not show a refund I called UPS again on Oct3. Only to be told that there was no note in the file regarding a refund and since more than 10 days passed since delivery, they could not give me a refund. I yelled and complained and finally got a supervisor Sue, who eventually agreed to help me. Sue was going to work on it and was supposed to call me back on Oct6 to confirm. Oct6 came and went with no call.

    6. On Oct 14 (today) I called again. I had to restate the entire story again. The operator stated again that she could not help me. I complained some more. Pointing out that I did everything UPS asked me to do and I was not getting any satisfaction. It took me ten minutes to get her to contact a supervisor. It took the supervisor 30 minutes to get on the call (shows their level of customer commitment). Finally the supervisor gets on. I have been asked to fax my original recipt to him. and he will call me in 30 minutes to confirm a refund. I am not holding my breath for a call back.

This whole experience has left me cold with UPS. I agree with the other comments that they do not have good customer service. They don't care about any customers but large corporate accounts.

    Disgruntled 913 10/14/08 8:41AM

  • UPS stands for USELESS Parcel "service." I tried calling them to nail down a delivery time for the day my package is supposed to be delivered because I have an appointment. While I was out of the office today I get a message that UPS will deliver to my apartment today at 2. WTF?! Who is home in the middle of the day if they have a real job?! Incompetent morons! I would love to call the local office, but no one will give me the local number.

    darthlaurie 9/25/08 10:56AM

  • First of all I would like all of you who read this to know UPS Sucks! I ordered a package which was valued at over 500 dollars and I was excited that when I found out that my delivery date was ahead of schedule. I should have known that UPS would screw that up. The driver who apparently has the direction sense of a one year old messed up and tried to deliver the package to the wrong address. Then he had the audacity to say that I typed in the address wrong. So I gave him the benefit of the doubt and called customer support. To my amazement the address the CR rep gave was the correct one. UPS seems to have some strict guidelines on how to pick new delivery people. First of all you must not know how to read a map. Second of all you must ignore all clearly posted street signs, and finally have no sense of morals and blame the customer when their tiny little brain has been overloaded by simple directions. UPS has lost a customer and hopefully by putting this up we can get these people to get their act together and start actually screening their drivers and getting packages out to where they are supposed to be.

  • UPS has been trying to get my company to switch from FedEx to them for almost a year. they offered to give us computers, on-site training, a dedicated account rep, etc. We finally decided to give them a chance last week. I wish I could say I was making it up, but on their very first delivery for us, they lost the package! When we called to report that we never received it, we were told by UPS that they never picked it up. We called the company sending us the packages who had video recordings of their driver entering the building and leaving with the package "in hand". When we told UPs of this, they finally admitted that their driver had messed up and forgot to put a barcode on the package so they had no clue where it was. After nearly 4 days, they finally located it and then delivered one of the packages partially damaged.

That was a costly experiment and, needless to say, we are back with FedEx.

  • you no longer say, "operator"...it's now, "agent"...and you go right through. The "agent(s)" I spoke with were very friendly and very helpful...unfortunately, UPS's regulations proved to be one step beyond my willingness to proceed. When I want to ship One thing, One time, to One place, I see the requirement to sign a "Daily Pick-up Contract" as over-the-line.
Granted, this was a Hazmat shipment...but I have all the training required, etc...just not the "Daily Pick-up Contract". Things that make you go, "Ummm, No Thanks!".

ADVISED HIM OF THE DANGER IN DOING THIS AS I DIDN'T WANT INJURIES ON MY PROPERTY. TO NO AVAIL. TALKED TO A VERY NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE PERSON AND WAS VERY SATISIFIED BY THE WAY SHE HANDELED MY PROBLEM. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH ITEMS BEING DELIVERED ON TIME OR DAMAGED.

  • We had a package that had pre-paid postage being returned to Pitney Bowes. The first agent that I talked to said they would charge us $10.00 to pick up the package or we could leave it at a drop-box. The package was too big to put in the drop-box and we didn't want to leave it sitting beside the box (we are in an office building in downtown Chicago and there is a "mailroom"). So, after talking it over with my boss, we decided that we would rather not risk someone walking off with the package and we would pay the $10.00 to have it picked up from our office. When I called the second to arrange for the pick-up, the agent that assisted me was very courteous and suggested that if there was no time limit on when the package needed to be returned, that we could just hold it until a UPS driver was delivering a package to us and he would have to pick it up without charging us the $10.00 pickup fee as he was already there. I was very impressed that the agent wasn't trying to line UPS' pockets with an additional money, but went out of his way to make this suggestion to save us the money instead. Thanks UPS!

The live person was not only helpful and curtious she solved my issue and took care of my questions even before I asked her to do so. I have heard many bad things about UPS but to me and my business they have been the best carriers. Thanks UPS

  • I actually had a great experience with UPS. I ordered some personalized labels for a baby shower and the UPS man tried to deliver them to my house while I was at work on Friday. Well they were not planning on returning to redeliver until Monday, but the shower is Sunday. I hurried down to their office and a wonderful man named Jerry called the driver, who still had two hours left on his route. Jerry took my phone number and called me when the driver made it back. He even waited for me to get there to pick it up and it was almost 9pm before I left with package in tow. This was the second time Jerry from the UPS office in Lawton Oklahoma has gone above and beyond to help me, I did not even feel like I was bothering him. He was great. FED-EX has left several things on my porch and by the time I have gotten home from work they have blown half way down the street. I appreciate all the help and kindness the Lawton UPS has extended to me.
