I'm convinced Steam support consists of some early version of a ChatGPT with a random name like "Sam" to make you think you're speaking to a human. Don't worry by the 2nd response you'll know there's not a human brain with whatever it is that responds to your support ticket. Incompetent and shameful.

Steam "Support" honestly just feels like they set up an answering machine and starting ghosting everyone's calls. It is next to impossible to get ACTUAL help, instead you get cycled back into the useless Help Wizard that can't find anything relevant to your actual problem. Then worse then that, they have the "Community Discussion" section that amounts to "figure it out yourselves".

I love the convenience of Steam, but the second I need a hand with anything it becomes absolutely infuriating. Steam can and should do better, but frankly it feels like they just genuinely don't care.

Trasaction says that its failed, so i tried again. The fool that i am.
Now i've litteraly been charged twice and still got no product.
Support is just plainly ignoring me at this stage, so lets hope i ever get a refund.

It's absolutely ridiculous that a company can get this big and have a worse costumer support then a chinese sweatshop.

these guys are an absolute joke of a company willingly violating EU consumer protection laws for greed

I bought a game a while ago now and finally got around to installing and playing it only to be met with crashing and errors right on start, my game timer is literally 2 minutes but because it was "bought 2 weeks ago" im being told they wont refund me so now I am going to have to get the authorities involved in order to get my money back for a faulty product

I rarely publish reviews, but when I do, it is usually because something is truly horrible. Whatever unfavourable feedback there is about Steam support, I believe it is accurate. They don't care about their userbase; if you have an account issue, like mine, you'll have to suck it up and kiss your account goodbye because they won't even help you recover/reinstate it. The worst part is when they blame your email provider and avoid answering your concerns, or worse, when they close your ticket without fully addressing the issue at hand.

Consider the enclosed evidence of poor customer service from Steam Support.

Tldr. Got 3 community bans, steam support couldn't confirm why I actually received any of them.

On the 4th ban they threatened if I continue this behaviour it'll be permanent.
I haven't fn harassed or talked to anybody.

It seems if you report a guy enough with empty claims you can get them banned, after 15 years on steam with no history of bans my account is under fire because support can't do their job.

bro steam sucks, it doesnt listen to people

Steam forum moderation is a horrible service run by abusive mods, They take conversation out of context and when asked how rules were broken they cannot explain it. If you try to create a ticket the first thing you will be hit with is an automated bot response before a forum moderator actually hear read it, There has been many forum posting where threads will be locked but some people will be cherry picked for punishment, be wary of the forums on this service and use reddit or other instead.
Do not buy your games on steam but instead look to third party distrbutors, they are just a platform to play your game and does not deserve your hard earned money.

Regarding steam decks, I suggest that if you receive something you spent $500 on and it doesn't work right out of the box, you immediately request an RMA. When you buy something at a store and doesn't work, you take it back and get a new one in exchange. Well-established routine. Or, maybe they try to fix it for you. Operative word is "they". You're not asked to fix it yourself.

No cooperation getting an RMA? Then it's chargeback time. Make sure you explain it to the CC rep as simply buying something that doesn't work, and you can't get the seller to take it back. And should Valve punish you in some way for that, tell the CC company about that, too. Punishing cardholders for using the card's services is not something they like to hear. And while you as a single customer won't get their attention, a word from MasterCard, or VISA, or Amex, might.

Game did not run properly and refused to refund. Customer services is very unhelpful. Blocked my account for 1 month after issuing a chargeback.

i have to share this non sence, i had a probleme with a game, every week when a patch come out, lets say 100 mb patch, steam force re download of the whole game, 60 gb time wasted, contacted game support told me its a steam probleme, steam dont give a f... sent me auto message to try, clear cash download, check integrety... re install client and clearly said if re installed to same spot, games stay only re installing client.THAT A F"""ing lie ,now ill waste a week to re install whole steam library,so never ever un install steam thinking game stay its not, thx again steam i really feel that i paid you to do a job,not like i have to do it myself, pay you and you dont give a sh..about it.dont make same mistake, dont thrust them

Steam valve customer service is deplorable. Absolutely the worst. If you have any issues hopefully you can figure it out by yourself because it will take minimum 24 hours for a response and when you get one it will be generic and not helpful at all. The customer service reps know nothing about there own servers or how to access anything them. Over 10 years using them and i have NOTHING good to say about their customer service.

Posted by Stonehaart

Absolutely horrendous customer service. For Steam VR, they barely even understand the metrics used to determine framerates and bandwidth let alone how to assist in improving them. And in regards to warranties, they will not even pay for a -damned power supply- for a headset that cost me a THOUSAND DOLLARS. If there were ANY OTHER ALTERNATIVE, I'd have happily kicked them to the curb.

Forgot your password? Sure, we will help. What is your username?
- I give it
What is your email for the account?
-I am literally writing from that email account, I still give it
What is your phone number?
- I give it
Do you have any game keys to games you have on our platform?
- I give 3!
What card and what numbers does it have you used on our platform to buy games?
- ...

I haven't used the account for over 4 years. You really think I know???
Worst ever.

A submitted a support ticket regarding moderator abuse and steam support ignored it and let the moderator get away with it despite the support ticket containing proof to the abuse the proof being screenshots of the abuse.

Got a problem with a game? Need a little time to get it working? Maybe it'll take a couple hours to figure out why it's not working right or its performance is so bad. Can't get it to work properly? Want a refund? Forget it. Not an option. Valve has bigger plans for your money. They don't care if your product works OK for you or not. Once they've got your cash they've got it. That's all they care about anymore.

Every single time there is an issue with something, support becomes absolutely worthless it seems.

What's their community management like? They allow their business partner board moderators trample on and abuse the Steam members with unwarranted bans for the most ridiculous reasons. Valve's business partners can break all the rules they want even though they're supposed to follow the Steam moderator guidelines. Valve turns a blind eye to it and passes the robot scripts along to their customers that there's nothing they can do to override a board moderator's decisions. Basically it's Valve's way of saying shut up and F off. We don't care.

Want to talk to a customer support human representative? Dig deep in the bowels of Steam support and you just might actually find one to talk to. Does it mean they'll actually be helpful? No. Need a contact number? Forget it. Phone numbers? Why would Valve have support phone numbers for their Steam members to get customer support? Crazy questions! I know!

The Steam client is another ball of lacking customer support in itself. Half the time the client works right and half the time it doesn't. Pages often don't load or we can't log in for hours and hours to play our games, often the client gets hung, the voice and video system is old as the hills and they don't really improve much in the UI department (no skins, styles, etc.). That's a huge problem. Valve basically doesn't acknowledge accessibility in the slightest. For people with vision or hearing impairments, Valve gets a big fat 0/10 from pretty much everybody who relies on accessibility options in programs they use regularly. Valve is a multi million dollar corporation and they can't even bother to put accessibility options in the Steam client. There isn't an accessibility menu nor options anywhere in the client. Valve is blatantly ignoring persons with disabilities by not offering any kind of accessibility options. Valve figures those people don't deserve to enjoy their Steam experience. If they cared, they'd have introduced accessibility options years ago.

I guess what this all really shows is that Valve doesn't care about their customers anymore. Valve is yet another soulless, heartless, disrespectful and ignorant marketing corporation that puts your money before you. Valve values our money more than they value us.

Hands down worst customer service ever.
They used to ignore us for months on end after submitting our tickets/issues. We didnt ever expect them to actually read it. Cuz they never did.

So now they sorta pretend to talk to you which is cool. I guess. But then when you stump them hard as hell asking 2 very basic questions like is 1+1 2?

Then just watch the screen as you can hear them melt from across the world.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE AND POLICIES EVER.
I have been playing on Steam for several years and never had a problem. All my games worked perfectly. My recent purchase of 'Hogwarts:Legacy' proved to be a different story. After 8 hours of gameplay, my the game froze, and when I restarted and logged back in, I had lost everything-all my progress, gear, quests, even my character, were gone. I had to start over from scratch.
After two or three more crashes and restarts, I'd had enough. I requested a refund due to the technical difficulties I was having, with screenshots, error logs from my computer, and enough evidence to make it clear that I wasn't just trying to get a free game--and no help was offered. I was refused a refund 3 times, despite the proof.
So I requested a chargeback from my bank, in support of which I sent the same evidence. I got my refund a week later.
And now, lo and behold, none of my games seen to work. I have been notified of a 'purchase restriction' on my account to ensure that I have not been a victim of fraud or unauthorized purchases, but none of my games work either.
Good thing all the games I play are available on PS. I just bought a brand new one and gave Sony my money for the games. I'll never see a penny in refund from Steam, but they'll never get any more of mine either. Deleting that POS tonight.

I got my CS:GO account falsely banned. Game said its VAC ban. So I got to VAC forum to complain but they said very very rudely that (THIS IT THE WRONG FORUM YOU DUMB SHIT) so yeah no help and 3 years of came process burned. I had all 101 actseavments that are now burned. That rude guy's steam name was Cathulhu. Very bad for company this big

Very poor customer service. I made a complaint about a feature on a recent sale and asked for a personal response. They tole me they'd forward my comments to the relevant department - when I asked for a personal reply a second time they said they wouldn't do that and closed the ticket 0 breaking off the communication. That is not appropriate customer service or customer support and not what I expect.

Completely ridiculous set up designed by morons. Cannot create an account as the robot on the other side of the line does not accept my "I am not a robot" input. will go to the end of the earth to get a refund and am just about to uninstall my son's version.

i literally got hacked once and got scammed by a phishing site and lost a total of around 600 dollars, all the items are banned and they wont even create replicas and put them in my account, they said its due to item duplication but the items are banned, why wouldnt i be able to get my items back...

I have a problem with my Steam Deck contacted steam support twice and many questions to try plug in the PSU and to switch the fan on and off. But this has nothing to do with the problem. And I already told them. What the problem was and what I all have done. And than they ask to plug in the PSU and try again the PSU is not going to stop my games from crashing. And overheating isn't the problem either because i can't play for more than 5 minutes. Steam support is completely useless.

Steam's customer service is utterly terrible. I installed a game and it won't show up anywhere, and my cousin and I literally searched for almost two hours trying to figure out how to actually get Steam to help me. We found a "Steam Support" phone #, and when you click the option in their menu for support, it says "we don't offer phone support" and hangs up on you. So we've had to search online, search Steam, search their message boards, trying to get somebody to help.

Finally after so much effort and frustration, I found (buried deep in their website, not easy to find at all) a way to send their tech support a message about the issue. Sent them a message. Then I see online that it could be many hours or even days before they get back to me. So much for the plan to play my game today!

Epic bad customer service.

Had to refund a game due to it being glitchy. It was super easy to submit, no waiting around, and after 2 hours, they accepted it. Would recommend, 10/10

Idk why people hate valve so much, their customer service is great. I lost my account and on Christmas Eve a guy helped me out and got my account back

In my years of use, I've yet to have a single issue with Steam, so this review is based solely on the refund system, which I must say, I am impressed with. I've refunded a number of different games in the last few years and Steam has always refunded with zero questions asked. As long as you meet the requirements of "less than 2 hours played" and "purchased within the last 14 days," Steam doesn't care what your reason is, even though they ask for one. (Which probably to look into technical issues if there are any regarding a certain product) Today, I put a request in for 2 games and got notified of my refund the same day when I checked my e-mail. I appreciate that it's very easy to do and was also very fast.

Steam is a good Company
Most of the people on the left have the most stupid problems and are either talking about the time they had to wait before a response or that the refund service didn't work. To all of those people **** you. With the amount of customers steam support deals with on a daily basis you're lucky the servers are up most of the time. Oh and the refund service well if you've got the cash to buy a gaming pc and then buy the games I'm sure losing a bit of cash an the one game that doesn't work(which will get patched drivers ect) isn't that big a dent in your pocket. So back off

I am really satisfied with what Valve Steam was able to do since my account got hacked. I got my stolen items back and i am very happy. Thank you!

I don't really understand all of these peoples complaints about what steam is, I've been using it for a lot of years and love it. I've used customer support several times and had any issues resolved satisfactory. I love not having to dig in piles of disks, maintain their condition, or keep track of them. Steam also gives you access to a lot of cheap indie games you never would have seen from previous formats of gaming. If you still want the disks, get a PS3. But even then, you can opt to just buy games on their online market.
