I had been with Bluehost for over 3 years and just renewed service in Nov 2023. I then decided to upgrade so I could add a second website. I paid for an additional domain and upgrade. First, after I built out my new site and launched, they updated the temporary domain to the actual, my new site then disappeared from my account completely. Bluehost support could not resolve this issue, including multiple failed attempts at reinstalling WordPress, and multiple "escalations".
I decided to cancel the update and revert back to my original plan, requesting a refund for the additional charge. I very clearly stated that my main website should remain and please do not make any changes to it. Support acknowledged this.

The next day I find that my primary website has also now disappeared from my Bluehost account. I immediately call and am told that my ENTIRE HOSTING PLAN WAS CANCELED.
I was told that because this just happened, they would be able to restore my website. However, I would need to pay for a new hosting plan in order to get it back. (Causing an issue which deletes my website and then telling me I need to pay to get it back is called extortion. 100% unethical and illegal).

I felt I had no choice, so on top of the renewal I just paid for, I paid for a new plan. I was told my site would be restored in 24-48 hours. Of course, this issue was "escalated" as well.
Then a few days later I get an email telling me they need to verify my business and that I am the owner, In order to restore my website. The verification is RIGHT THERE ON MY BLUEHOST ACCOUNT. I own the domain, my credentials and account login never changed. Still, I send them both federal and state documents. My site is never restored.

I experienced repeated assurances, guarantees, and escalations from Bluehost's support team without resolution. My website contained years of information, portfolios, and content that I worked tirelessly to build. I am a small business, my business is my source of income, it is my company, it is my job. Bluehost's careless actions have resulted in a loss of thousands of dollars and information.

I had backed up my website but did so through WordPress. It never once dawned on me that the biggest security risk and threat to my business would be Bluehost.

There has been no attempt to correct this or provide reliable, honest, service. This entire issue should have and could have been resolved immediately. Bluehost is owned by Newfold Digital, which owns several hosting companies. Through research I found that most of those great recommendations for site hosting that names Bluehost are all bought and sponsored.

I feel this information is critical because all current and future customers should be aware of the risks that Bluehost poses to a business. There are so many hosting companies out there, make a better decision than I did and stay away or get away from Bluehost.

Catastrophic incompetence breaking unprofessional records.
Website down for unknown reasons. Support people - 20 of them in two weeks, all as clueless as a newborn.
All their explanations about what is going on are completely incorrect, shooting in all directions. "It's the server, just wait 8 hours", "It's Malware, your fault", "It's the DNS", "The dingo took my baby".
This is a critical website and no one has a clue what is going on.
Stay away, far, far away...

A disaster. Customer Service has been destroyed. Without warning they killed my website. The chat took 90 minutes just to log the problem. It went down on saturday and my first response was wednesday. Luckily I kept control of my domain and after reading some of the comments here I moved it to Wix which was up and running back online within a few hours. And the editing is so intuitive it's easy to make a half decent website in a few hours. They did me a favour actually since I was thinking of moving anyway. Luckily I only had a few pages and was revamping my site and my renewal was coming. Their Customer Service is so bad that on a scale of 1 to 10 I give it -10. Truly terrible. As others have said. Being put on hold numerous times. Inability to actually do anything and almost impossible to understand what the operator is saying. Bluehost you are destroying your business. AVOID!

DO NOT USE BLUEHOST-Worst ever in getting anything down. Connected to Google Domains -I though I should try even if more expensive then other hosting companies. What a mistake.

Bluehost cut off our company's email and stopped hosting the site even though the bill had been paid. Worse, after complaining, they billed us again. Their policy is "no refunds", and they stick to it!. We were stuck paying for almost a full year of a service they didn't provide and we did not want. If you want to speak with them you need to enter a passcode sent to your email. Unfortunately, if they internally block your email address, you can't get in. Pretty convenient.

I am a legacy customer and My experience over the last two weeks has been TERRIBLE. I have to call them many times over 5 hours a day, for last two days, to see why my domain SSL is not working and a redirect was dropped and now there are two other domains on my site I didn't create! Some believe if they talk fast and over me, they are doing enough, from the Script. Today, I spoke with 3 different people and no one understood what would have been fixed in one phone call when it wasn't all outsourced with people whom I can barely understand and they don't understand what I am saying. I am exhausted by repeating what I want.Even when I break it down in simple terms. Bluehost went Global and everything went downhill. It seems support people are trained quickly and poorly in a very 'cubicle' limited knowlege and they read from a script. They put you on hold to ask someone else. They don't keep case notes so you have to begin again, all over, with each person. But, always ready to sell you something else. Do they too get a piece of the sales? It's a disaster. Customer service doesn't exist as it did, even a year ago. They've made it so awful, I don't even want to call them. Maybe that's what they want. Just silent, obedient people paying them big money so nothing gets solved. It seems it really went down this summer. I used to get really helpful people, 1 out of 3 times. Not anymore. They just talk alot, it seems a strategy everywhere, that if they talk a lot and fast and over you, then you won't notice they don't know.

Bluehost customer support is the worst I have ever experienced among all hosting companies. I have worked with siteground, hostgator and a few others but these guys have no case tickets, no transcripts of chats are sent unless we ask, no follow ups, I repeat myself to 5 different agents and none of them have a clue about the case I have already stated. And their response time is the slowest ever! Also, my files on their server have been infected and there is malware and they say they cannot do anything about it!!! What more worse service can one get!

What a mistake to go with bluehost. After a few months of hosting my domain (I was building the website in my spare time) they transferred by domain name, without my consent, knowledge or agreement to another hosting company; who then transferred it on again. I've complained but that was closed because I didn't reply in their timeframe. (I don't sit at my laptop 24/7 waiting for emails to come in - I work; a lot of hours.) Now all I get in silence. Absolutely no reply at all.

Reviews for Bluehost are grossly exaggerated. They reflect the vast network of affiliates and business partnerships. A truly objective rating on the internet is practically non existent. Buyer beware!

I deeply regret to express my utmost dissatisfaction with the company in question. If it were possible, I would give them the lowest rating imaginable. Despite being a customer of Bluehost since 2014, my experience has been plagued by a consistent stream of issues over the past few years. Unfortunately, in recent months, the situation has escalated to a catastrophic level, with the company losing all of my valuable content and emails not just once, but multiple times.

Initially, they offered me a gesture of goodwill by providing three months of free hosting as compensation. However, to my dismay, they reneged on this offer, leaving me in a state of frustration and disappointment. Astonishingly, just yesterday, two months later, they repeated the same grave error, resulting in the loss of a significant business contract valued at $10,000. Despite the severity of the situation, the company has shown a complete lack of initiative or concern, taking no meaningful action to address the issue at hand.

The support team and agents, regrettably, have proven to be utterly inadequate and incompetent in their roles. They demonstrate a disheartening inability to actively listen to customers' concerns or perform their duties with the required level of competence. Instead, they resort to creating tickets that are addressed at their leisure, with little to no tangible results. It is disheartening to witness such an unprofessional approach to customer support.

Adding insult to injury, Bluehost attempts to evade responsibility by asserting that issues with VPS accounts are considered "self-help" matters. However, it is crucial to note that shutting down websites and losing content without valid justification cannot be classified as self-help. This is unequivocally a problem originating from Bluehost's own internal deficiencies, as evidenced by their reckless actions that have led to the complete obliteration of my data.

The consequences of their negligence extend far beyond mere financial losses. I have suffered significant monetary setbacks and detrimental effects on my business. The loss of databases, folders, and emails due to their actions has had an irreversible impact. Despite being initially promised three months of hosting as compensation in May, they abruptly reversed their decision, shutting down all services and erasing every single piece of data on my server. To exacerbate matters, they refuse to rectify the situation or take responsibility for their actions. It is clear that Bluehost's deliberate actions are causing harm not only to me but also to my business and clientele. The loss of my clients' information is a severe blow, and legal action is actively being considered.

UPDATE: At this juncture, I have sought legal counsel to pursue appropriate legal measures. I can no longer tolerate this situation, as it has had a profoundly negative impact on my business. I deeply regret the detrimental impact this ordeal has had on my business, resulting in substantial financial losses and hampering its growth.

In light of these circumstances, I emphatically advise anyone considering their services to steer clear of this company. Their actions have proven to be detrimental, causing significant harm to businesses and individuals alike. Exercise caution and avoid the distressing consequences that have unfortunately befallen me.

Spent over 12 hrs on chat, terrible service and 36 hrs of overall wait time and they could not sort out transferring my website to their domain. Eventually I got a refund. There excuse was that I had signed up at a bad time because they were having some technical difficulties. Had the chat session stopped a few times by them as I had taken a minute or so to do what they wanted and apparently that was too long so had to go through the whole process again with someone else. If time and service is of the essence then look elsewhere.

This company is a joke!!!
I signed up with bluehost and they offer me one time fee of $300. Unfortunately, my partner took off and our company never established a website. Bluehost been charging me since 2020 till today. I recently got charged additional $670 for a renewal. I called this company to cancel my account and refund me in full since website never has took off. Finally, bluehost refund me and on the same day they charged me again. I called bluehost to resolve the issue. Guess what, they asked me to email bluehost billing department. I just physical spoke to them by phone. What a joke company!!!

Unbelievably horrible experience. I had an existing website and all I needed done was to have it migrated to their hosting service. I paid $150 for their "professional migration team " to complete this process. Then came the runaround. Delays, nothing happening, extremely hard to reach customer service. When you get someone, they are friendly enough but are basically reading scripts and offer zero actual help. I really don't think the "migration team" actually exists. You can't talk to them. You can't chat with them. I would get emails, each time asking for some info, almost all of which I had already supplied, and then they would vaguely outline yet another problem, each time different, as to why they could not get my site up and running. I'm disputing the migration charge thru my bank.

ridiculous long wait with customer service.

Terrible customer service. Product was not working and gave vague answers, long hold times, ridiculous questions that felt like purposeful run around. Don't use them. Just don't. Wouldn't refund when I left after product not working. Wix so much better.

One of the single worst customer service experiences I've ever dealt with. In my first year as a customer, I contacted them once a month about a very specific issue I was having with Printful and Printify. It took them two or three weeks to reply, and everytime it was the same painful process: Request information on my last ticket, answer all the same questions again, find out my last ticket was closed without being resolved, ask for resolution and support, and then be told that they'll respond soon with help. A month goes by, start it all over again.

After my first year, I attempted to cancel my hosting. Instead, they charged me double. When I asked for a refund the same day, they insisted they would reach out to me to help. When I contacted Bluehost a final time, they said they can't offer a refund because their refund window is 30 days--I contacted them after 21 days. I finally went through my payment processor to request a chargeback, and they are fighting it. The irony is that I expect they will respond to this review.

Bluehost will fail you. Bluehost is possibly the worst option for any hosting, ever, and I recommend literally anyone else. The scammer down the road will at least respond to you.

Bluehost breaks down often, and when it does so, customer service will be slow and ineffective. They offer no way to refund you even if your website is down for multiple days. STAY AWAY.

Bluehost has been the worst experience ever. Do not waste your time or money, they make it easy to sign up but oh so difficult to create a website. Tech support and customer service are both incompetent.

These people are dishonest and have terrible customer service. I made arrangements with an agent for a cost of $18.99 per month locked in for a year. I got my bill and was charged $23.98. When I called in, I was told that the previous agent made a mistake, all they offered was a $1 monthly discount, instead of honoring the price quoted. These people are unethical crooks. Buyer beware!!!

If I could rate them a zero I would
If I could rate them a zero I would. This company has without a doubt the worst customer service that I have ever seen. I just had Christina ( A supervisor ) tell me that they did not want to do business with me even though one of their Tech support supervisors said to me "I am not going to put up with your B S." But he used the word instead of the letters. But it's not ok if I question the competence of someone who is allegedly a Tech support rep. There is NO WAY that I could find to contact upper mgmt. to let them know how I was being treated. If you do decide to do business with this company. You get what you deserve.
I also just discovered something else. If you get into an argument with Bluehost about anything and decide to take your hosting business elsewhere. Bluehost will sabotage you and you will not be able to use Word Press Live support even if your new host uses them.

This just keeps getting better. I just tried to post a comment on the Bluehost Facebook page. They will not allow you to comment on anything. The only thing you can do is "Like" a post. This should be a real tipoff that something is wrong. You have to join the Bluehost group to be able to say anything about them. Why would I join a group if I do not like the company? That just does not make sense. Folks, this is one company that you really want to stay away from. The more you look the more you find that screams DON'T GO NEAR THESE PEOPLE WITH A TEN FOOT POLE.

I have been a Bluehost user/subscriber for some 15 years. If it was 1/10 as bad as it is now Bluehost would not be around. Bluehost, its lack of customer support (especially the idiots in the Philippines), programmers and CORPORATE MANAGEMENT not only rates an "F," but I am willing to wager my life's savings Bluehost won't be around that much longer. It has become a disgrace!

Blue Host is a US company doing business in the United States of America. I am a US citizen signed up in USA, pay in US dollars, do business in the US AND ONLY WANT TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN THE US!

If this is not doable, not only will I cancel my account after some 15 years but I WILL MAKE SURE EVERYONE IN THE UNITED STATES KNOWS HOW UNAMERICAN BLUEHOST HAS BECOME!
