I just found out my mom is in the hospital and things are not looking so good. So I took my savings and bought a ticket to Seattle and reserved a car through Thrifty. Found out hours afterwards, that no one is being allowed in to see her because of Covid19, even though she doesn't have that. The airlines refunded all my money as it had been less than 24 hours and I bought insurance. Thrifty on the other hand, refuses to cancel any reservations made through a third party. So I just gave Thrifty car rental $200, and they didn't have to lift a finger to get any of the money. All profit. Getting over on those of us that work hard for our money. It saddens me to think that Thrifty corporation does this type of behavior. You should be ashamed of yourselves for robbing people of savings. Makes me wonder what kind of a world we live in now a days. Pretty corrupt if you ask me.

OMG what a fiasco. We as well will NEVER rent from Thrifty. Somehow we misplaced the keys to the car at a restaurant and never found them, which is on us. It was after-hours and we had to wait 6 hours to get a call back from Thrifty to find out where to have the car towed. By this time it's after midnight. The next morning we go to the rental site and they say they don't have the car. The tow truck driver had to send pictures of where car was prior to towing and where it was towed. This is all the same day it was rented and we had 2 more days. Well Thrifty said they would credit us for the unused portion as well as we had to rent another car which was triple the original price we paid. And do you think we ever received a credit? Even worse is they never checked the car in until we turned in the 2nd car so they say we are not due for a credit. As well no notes were added to the computer so no one knows or believes what happened. It's a shame that a $200 car rental ended up costing us over $1k. While one supervisor I spoke with after we got home wanted to give me a $50 voucher to rent again, with all this trouble why would I ever want to rent again with Thrifty and all for just under $200 credit we feel we are due. Totally disappointed with the whole experience and the way we were treated.

Don't trust anything they say. I called to ask about GPS and was told all their vehicles had navigation. Lie when my wife picked up the midsize sedan she was told they don't have GPS in the midsize. Thus no GPS.

On September 1st, I made a reservation to pick up a car at Pearson airport in Toronto.
I came to the location of my reservation to pick up the car. First the Thrifty counter representative asked me for a passport and a credit card which was not mentioned in the email. When I tried to show her my email reservation and point out that it only asks me to bring a drivers license and a debit card, she dismissed me and said we wont give you a car. I called thrifty and they said their website asks for these items and therefore they will not honor the agreement or the email from hotwire. I called hotwire and your employee ( ) is now telling me that they will book another vendor for me but I have to pay the difference.
If there were additional requirements for me to pick up the vehicle, Hotwire should have notified me. I was dropped off by a taxi to the air port to pick this car up and based on the email below, I brought what was required of me. If hotwire wants to honor their agreement, hotwire should pay the difference. This was either a short sightedness from hotwire or breach of agreement from Thrifty. Either way I should not and will not pay for the difference and if Hotwire wants to refund me, I should also be compensated for my time, my taxi fare here and back to my home, and damages I will be incuring for cancelling the remaining parts of my trip that is now affected by this massive incompetence.
I look forward to hearing from someone immidiately.

I am writing after 3 months of back and forth trying to get an answer to why Thrifty Car rental charged me an additional $78.06. I have gotten nothing. Thrifty Car rental will not send me a receipt or even a reason why I was charge the extra money after their agent told me when I turned the car in it was payed in full and their would be no extra charge.
Don't do business with this company!!!!!

We rented a vehicle june 20-22,2021. They charge me 153.06 just for taxes alone aside from the 84.87 but according to the them the only charge is 120.25 only.
Stay away from this company hidden fees are outrageous. Bad sevice too long line and car is dirty, they did not even clean inside the car bottles,used face mask inside.
I tried calling them be ready for a 45mins wait for somebody to answer. Too expensive for a dollar,thrifthy service. Disappointed with them.
Fixed your service and those hiddens fees.

Rented a car with Thrifty from Tampa International Airport. From Wednesday to Monday. Sunday we went into Tampa to have breakfast with my son, while heading back to my car we saw a squad car by my vehicle to see somebody has hit the car making it undriveable, trying to call customer service is a joke waited 54 min and only hung up after the police officer was able to make contact for us. No help getting back to the airport to get a replacement vehicle spent 20 dollars on Uber after being told they would reimburse us according to the supervisor nope not the case after being sent to three different location and being talked to by snotty counter reps and after almost three hours we got a new rental. Will NEVER EVER rent another vehicle from this company ever again.

i reserved a car for my husband to pickup in phoenix, arizona on the 21st of June for 464.00. when he picked it up he told them no insurance or road side service as we have both including triple AAA. he had not slept all night. signed the contract. when i looked at our charge acct. we were billed over 1100 dollars. they had added 86 dollars a day for roadside service which my husband had already declined also the insurance was declined. When calling thrifty i was told the only way to correct their mistake i was told he had to drive back to thrifty in phoenix and sign a new contract which was a 3 hr. drive back to the airport and 3 hr. drive back to families home. signed new contract but extra 86 dollars a day charged for 2 days even though they added it. ASKED TO SPEAK TO SUPERVISOR AND TOLD NOT AVAIABLE. Asked for corporates number and was told they had no corporate office. 3 DAYS LATER AND NOW 2 CHARGES FOR RENTAL CARS . 1st charge still not removed. Found corporates number on website and it was disconnected. Called another number and it said it was closed as was after 7pm which it was only 4pm. confIrmation number J788021804.Still waiting tor credit on my charge card. WE WILL NEVER USE THRIFTY CAR RENTAL AGAIN.

I went through Priceline to book a flight and car rental. Once I got to the car rental place in DFW,I told the guy at the counter that I had paid via Priceline for my rental. He said ok, asked me about pre-paying for fuel; which I said fine. Thinking I was only getting charged for the fuel, he slide my card. Then handed me a receipt and told me I'd be charged $441 and some change, and have a total of $950 dollars held until I bring the car back. I told him, I'd just like to cancel it, because they didn't know when I'd be able to get into a car and having that much money into a rental car, is plain ridiculous! The guy at the counter said I'd get a full refund, but I'd have to call Priceline, since I booked from them. Was no help what-so-ever. So I called Priceline, they refunded me the amount I paid online and told me the rest of the 950 I had to go through the rental place. So I called thrifty again and they said they couldn't help me, I had to call priceline, even though, they refunded me on there end. After almost 3 days on the phone I finally got someone to kind help me, told me once I dropped the vehicle off, I'd receive my refund. Not understanding I NEVER TOOK A CAR! Back and forth for 3 days, and they finally claimed they would refund me. I should've received my money back Monday (May 10) and currently I am still waiting in it.

I would recommend NEVER going through THRIFTY CAR RENTAL. They have awful customer service in store and on the phone.

I rented a compact car with my credit car at the Ft.Lauderdale airport and the very next day I extended the car. on Friday the 30th of April, I needed to extend the car again because I ran into a problem. I was told that I couldn't use another credit card, how is that even possible.

I am snowed in in Denver. Roads are closed as is the return location. When I extended after my first flight cancel it was a mere $13 but my flight was cancelled again due to them closing the runways as well as access to the car rental return location so when I extended the vehicle you guys charged me over &200 additional despite that it was out of my control. Despite that it is not a full week my rate was changed completely. When I asked for a supervisor I was told one wasn't available. I'm being treated unfairly as well as overpriced and if nothing is done to rectify it I will be reporting the company to the better business bureau.

Thrifty Car rental locations Apparently run predominantly as separate Franchises with little oversight of the main office over their operations.

Little consistency between the branches. Wildly different hire experience between the locations, even in the same cities. Ranging from excellent to poor. Different fee structure and way of calculating fees means you don't know what you are getting even if you've hired with the same brand for years.

They may as well be called different companies entirely.

Some franchisees have been caught fabricating their own reviews (and/or franchise owners getting their staff to) on their google business listings. Bring a bag of salt.

I was charged a $300 smoking fee and I don't even smoke , they claim they had to do a deep clean . Of course because when I rented the car it reeked of dog and dog hair was all over the seats . I sprayed it down but never smoked in the car . Then the next week I was charged a late fee and gas . I sent in receipt for the gas no refund and the car was scheduled to rent 12/13 at 3:30 pm and returned 12/20 at 3:30 . It was returned at 3:29 and I was charged a extra day rental ..

Maybe the better business bureau needs to take a hard look at this company for real! As most posters on here, had just an awful experience with Thrifty at Spokane International Airport location. Booked through Priceline but was told I needed to present an airline ticket to PU car! Couldn't find it in the print, PL customer service couldn't find any verbiage on this rule, even THRIFTY CUSTOMER SERVICE on phone said he was wrong, while Im standing there talking to the JERK! Both counter attendants were rude, unfriendly and just basically told me to stay away from "their" counter and take my money somewhere else. Gladly! NEVER will Hertz, Dollar or THRIFTY get a single penny of mine, I hope if a single person on here reads this and switches to Enterprise or Avis its worth it!

I have been trying for days to book a car online with no success. Since your system has been down, as I have been told by your representatives, I have received two different emails from Thrifty telling me I can get 15% off my car rental. I called to book a car and explained that I want the 15% off from the emails but I was only given 10% off and they acted like they were doing me a big favor doing that. I was told I needed a code. There is no code on your emails. Why am I getting emails advertising 15% off when I can't use it? When you respond to me, if it goes to a spam folder I can easily retrieve it. I'm very displeased. I rented a car from you in Las Vegas NV. Drove it up to Reno because my flight got cancelled. There was no one to look at the car with me when I picked it up. Stuff on the cup holders and a slight smell. I drove it to Reno. Got there at 1030. No one was there to look at it or take the keys. They say they are open until 1100..... Drop the keys in the drop box and then get a receipt the next day for 300 dollar smoking charge. I DONT SMOKE! I chew.... This is not right and I will fight this 300 dollar charge. I'm calling my card company since no one can help me or give me the number to some one higher up......

We reserved a rental car in Houston thru Thrifty car rental B98415249 in the name of Brian Keith Mccoy but had to cancel due to covid issues. The car was booked thru thrifty sister company Economy booking and we were charged $422.98. Now we are told that there will be a $100.00 cancelation fee and the balance of 322.98 cannot be refunded for 90 days. This is exactly why rental car companies are going out of business, This is the worst example of poor business practice I've ever been thru. Thrifty car rental refuses to help me get my money back. On December the 18th I called and made a reservation to go pick my grand babies up from Gulfport Ms I was to pick the car up at Greenville Spatenburge Airport.I call the front desk of the airport to confirm my reservation to find out they will not let me get the car because I'm using my debit card when I specifically told the lady I had a debit card this went on for 2 days everyone at customer service said yes I can use my debit card but where I was to pick rental car up at said no I had 2 forms of ID and my Visa debit card I spoke to Havana, Tim, James They all told me that I will not get a car So all this time me thinking every thing is ok to find out I can't get a rental car So Thanks Thrify for ruining my Christmas to where I can't get my grand babies I searched everywhere to try and find someone to take a debit card and thought y'all did but I was wrong Felisha Phelps

DO NOT rent from Thifty. I prepaid for a car and when I landed at DFW there was no car available. I paid for 5 days and the customer service rep on the phone said that they "could not guarantee" a refund. I spent the morning on hold trying to sort this out. Hopefully my credit card company can successfully dispute the charges.

Worst customer service at Dallas Love Field airport. Never ever take the car from this location. We booked a minivan with Price line but when we reached to booking counter they weren't honoring the price and was charging double the charge. When asked why is it they were very rude and should be fired from the job. After nearly wasting 1 hour we ended buying from another rental car. I wouldn't recommend anyone to take rental car from Thrifty. For me Thrifty rental car is banned for life.

I have tried calling concerning a billing question at the 800-847-4389. It only pertains to rentals not billing. I can not locate a viable number to call to talk to a human about an outrageous bill of $97.35 for 2 toll booth charges. Both PennDot and Thrifty are using toll booths to gouge rental car users in Pennsylvania.

My husband Thomas P. Jacques rented a car from you on 9/10 in Portland, OR to be returned 9/16. Rental #656523836. Tom had a medical emergency while on vacation and we were forced to drive the car to Billings, MT instead of flying. I was told, at the Portland office, and your Billings office, there would be no drop off fee because of our emergency. On 9/16 you charged my credit card $861.14. I have spent hours trying to talk to someone who could help me to no avail. We have been good customers for Thrifty and I ask that you please help me with this charge.

They overcharged me about 280USD for so-called cleaning fee which I never made the car dirty .Trying to dispute this transaction...worst company ever . never rent from them again .
