My toshiba satellite's monitor screen had an internal leakage since day one. you could see a dark line accross the screen few cm above the task bar. i called customer service and tech support right away explaining the issue. they never took care of the issue properly. all they did was wash their hands clean and blaim the defects on me. eventually, this line disappeared for one day and later appeared on the top left corner of the screen. now i have one big circular blob of ink on the top left corner. it is obvious that these defects were not my doing but of the manufacturer. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! NEVER TOOK CARE OF THE ISSUE!!

I recently purchased a Toshiba Satellite E45w-C4200 from Best Buy on September 23, 2015. On February 28, 2016, the right hinge broke and will not keep the screen up in a 90 degree position. I contacted Toshiba Customer Service Repair department to learn that the hinge is not covered under the warranty although the computer is only 5 months old.

I was informed by the pleasant representative the broken hinge was a "minor repair", however the cost will be $252 for parts, labor, shipping etc. Or I can have it repaired at Best Buy or Office Depot.

Unbelievable! This is unacceptable.

I am highly disappointed with Toshiba and sadden. After much research over the past 12 hours, I have learned this is a highly common issue, you, Toshiba fail to acknowledge and correct. You are a billion dollar company and will not do right by your customers by simply correcting the manufacturing defect issue or repairing the defect at no charge to your customers. Instead of accepting there is a defect in your design, you, are insisting customer are damaging or dropping their computers or applying too much pressure. I and others have paid well over $500 for your computer that has failed us within the warranty period.

TOSHIBA YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED! The hinges breaking is such a big issue there was a class action lawsuit settlement in 2010.

Toshiba it would be great if you took accountability for the defect and repair your customer's computers at no cost.

This is by far the worst call center I have ever had to deal with. They do nothing but give you the runaround. They make promises and don't follow through.

Purchased a Satellite L55 model in Aug 2015. Had to contact support in Sep 2015 because my new computer wouldn't turn on. Their solution was to take it somewhere to back up the hard drive, pay to ship it to them, have no computer for at least 2 weeks, have the hard drive restored. What their warranty provides is return shipping and presumably a repaired computer that you have to bring back up to date. I opted to pay to have the issue repaired. 4 months later, the internal battery is gone so that every time I unplug it, it shuts off immediately. Their solution is the same. They offered to allow me to have it repaired locally if I wanted to pay for it. I thanked them and told them that I had already resorted to that previously and that I would never bother them again so Toshiba is no longer in business as far as I'm concerned.

There customer service is terrible. Never buy a Tobisha. They are easy to get a hold of, put you will wait at least an hour

Both times I called with questions about a Toshiba Service Station update for Win 10 support, "tech support" didn't seem to know Toshiba sent out updates at all. The first time they tried to convince me that I had infected my machine with a virus and was getting bogus messages. They remoted into my machine, showed me a bunch of terrifying looking error messages, and began trying to get money out of me to "fix" all these dreadful things! They also went through all my 3rd party programs and tried to blame each of these for the "problem". I wasn't having a problem, I was trying to follow their instructions on updating!! Because none of it made sense, I used my to Google Fu and figured it out my own damn self. On top of that, I learned that the scary list of warnings they showed me was just the event log - and most of the dire warnings were just things that had no actual consequence of any kind!! After all that, though, I lost the chance to do the updates.



I got another update message today. This time I kept the Service Center active so as not to lose the process, then called Toshiba again. Once more, they had NO idea what I was talking about. Again, they tried to get me to grant them remote access so they could "fix the problem" that I was NOT having!! The instructions said to manually uninstall the Utility Support Driver. The guy on the phone (2nd TS person - 1st one left me on hold so long the call went back into the que) tried to tell me that the Toshiba Service Station WAS the Utility Support Driver. No, Einstein, a driver is a driver and an application is an application. I immediately realized they were just going to try to work another scam on me to get me to pay for "services" I didn't need. I declined and just hung up. At no point did I received any help AT ALL. I returned to the Service Center which I'd left open, and simply ignored the whole "manually uninstall" instruction, clicked "update" and let 'er rip. After it was all done, I rebooted. We'll see if it worked - and I suspect it actually has, despite the confusing instructions (which "tech support" kept insisting were error messages.)



Wanna give Toshiba an earful? They won't look here. BUT - YOU CAN FIND THEM ON TWITTER. Be sure to place a "." before the @address to make your tweet visible for everyone to see. Companies hate to have their poor customer service outed on Twitter!! Hit them up

Have had a terrible experience with Toshiba customer service. Not only were they not able to repair my laptop but now I am getting the run around trying to get a refund. I have never been hung up on by a customer service agent before. They have done it three times. They are just awful!

Bought Thoshiba Satellite L50-C-13Z on October 2015, in Portugal, tryed to update the Windows 10, and it's impossible, due to C partition problems, according to error information. Already contacted the Toshiba portuguese assistance, they ordered me to restore/recicle the computer to it's original definitions and then update to Windows 10. Tryed several times, and it's not working. Next time, i will choose and buy a different computer brand.

My complain is regarding a heater , I requested to repair it since 14-12-2015 and up till this moment and after 3 to 4 appointments with no show and without any cancellations. I am still awaiting your company to move the heater to the factory for repair based on your technician recommendations.

I would like to request that you go back to contoured keyboard keys instead of flat ones. The flat ones making it more difficult to type accurately since your fingers don't have more defined resting places.

Do Not Buy From Toshiba Direct. A Ordered An Expensive Laptop From Them. The Laptop Came With Screen Bleeding Issues. They Made Me Pay For Another Laptop Before They Would Issue A New Replacement. Lenovo Has Much Better Support. And The Support Staff Is American.

I have dealt with some pretty bad companies over my 52 years of life, let me tell you.. but this one TOSHIBA IS BY FAR THE WORST !! I cannot believe the unprofessional, incapable, talentless, unfit group of people from this company. It has been more than a month since my Toshiba laptop was sent in for repairs. Broke just after the warranty expired. I found out that Toshiba contracts out of warranty repairs to Avnet. I believe that is the home of the employees that several people have talked about in these posts. Mervin or Merwyn and others.
Seems that after a month you are told that they are waiting for price of the component that needs replacing, but they cannot find out or tell you what the defective component is. Yeah right. Tired of the runaround. Looks like I will have to absorb the loss and buy a new computer.
I wish that there was some way to contact Toshiba directly and complain. I will never buy a Toshiba product again.

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite from Walmart on September 18th 2014 for my daughter's birthday. I didn't purchase the extended warranty as I have owned two other Toshiba satellites in the past, without any problems or hardware malfunctions. Since I trusted the brand and model I chose to purchase the same type of laptop.
What a disappointment it has proven to be!! On September 24th 2015 I contacted and was able to speak to a human being at the Toshiba call center and explained that I had been trying to get some help with my daughter's laptop as it had developed what appeared to be a software issue. Previous attempts when I called the customer service call center, I waited on hold indefinitely and eventually resorted to trying the FAQ guide on the Toshiba website in order to troubleshoot why the laptop would not boot up. This was while the laptop was still under the 1 year warranty!!
After trying all of the prescribed methods to troubleshoot the issue, one of which involved a twelve hour clean-up of the hard drive in order to reset the laptop to factory settings. I eventually decided to persevere and waited 45 minutes on the phone to speak to a technical support person. This while simultaneously attempting to live chat with technical support on another PC! Finally I managed to speak to a human who said that the laptop was out of warranty and suggested that I purchase the recovery media needed to reinstall the operating system. What a money making racquet!! In the past the recovery media used to come standard with the purchase of the equipment!!!
I tried to explain that I had attempted multiple times to contact the call center while the laptop was still under warranty however that was almost impossible! Also I wanted to know why I was being charged for the recovery media. I never received an answer with substance so out of sheer frustration I agreed and purchased the recovery media.
Fast forward two weeks later October 5th 2015, after attempting to get the laptop to work using the online guide on the Toshiba website. Still wouldn't work, so I called and again waited an inordinate amount of time to speak to a human. Finally landed up speaking to what I can only describe as a human analog!! Again I was told that the laptop was out of warranty Blah Blah etc. it was finally agreed that they would send me another recovery media thumb drive.
This too didn't work, so it was off to my local computer repair store. I was told that it was a hardware issue and that the hard drive needed to be replaced. I was later informed that it wasn't the hard drive but the motherboard!! I told the repair store to just through the piece of junk in the trash!!
Worst back-up service that I have ever received!!! I will never purchase a Toshiba product ever again. I will however post this email to every consumer website I can to report what a terrible company Toshiba is!!

Absolutely Horrible Experience! Non English speaking customer service agents. One transferred to another. Laptop not a year old, spent $900 on a Laptop that battery does not hold the charge, has issues, and then while under warranty, they charged my credit card $80 to send a replacement AC adapter- Frustrating. I request 3x to speak with an English speaking manager Never Happened

Purchased a Toshiba laptop C70D-CBT2N11 in Aug 2015. Quickly picked up a virus which has taken over my laptop. TOSHIBA DOES NOT HAVE A RESTORE DISC FOR C70D-CBT2N11! The response on their web-site is "check back in a week!" Insane to make a laptop without a restore disc. Of greater insanity is to buy a laptop from such an incompetent company with a "buyer beware" attitude. Though the price is tempting, DO NOT BUY A LAPTOP FROM THEM! First you will not be charge of your laptop, Microsoft will. Next when you do get hacked (and you will) your computer won't even make a good boat anchor.

I sent in my Toshiba Qosmio gaming lap top into Toshiba Repairs department around the 1st of Oct 2015. Time went on with no word so I called and spoke to a nice gentleman named Richard, he said my computer was received Sept 11. Apologized that I was not contacted by email.Called again on Sept 21. Was reassured it would be put on top of the list and diagnosed the next day. Called on Sept 22. On the diagnose list. Called on Sept 25. Spoke to Mervyn. Horrible man. Very rude and uncooperative. Told me Richard was not there that day. I called right back and strangely Richard answers the phone. Now waiting on cost for something that was not even important. All of a sudden computer is healed!!! No blue screen!!! If they turned it on for any length of time they would have seen the same thing that 3 other repair companies saw. $806 plus applicable taxes is the quote they send me though. For cosmetic crap I didn't ask for?! No thank you. Anyhow, I have continued to deal with this as they are to now just fix one item I had marked on the list of things I wanted done. Unfortunately have to deal with this nucklehead Mervyn. He is like a wall when it comes to getting updates or wanting to talk to someone else. The repair status page is a joke. He will laugh at your frustration and tell you he did so. He is also ok with lying and making it seem as if his coworkers are also liars. I will avoid purchasing Toshiba products of any kind from this day on just because of the asshat sub contracted company they use. The company is called Avnet services.Who the hell polices these guys?!None of the Toshiba departments communicate or even know how to get in touch with each other! Who the hell is in charge here? Today is October 23rd. My computer is still not fixed and no answer as to when it will be. I feel like they have hijacked my computer or something. Mervyn must know how impossible it is to get a hold of anyone at Toshiba to complain about anything so he just treats people how he wants. Like a rude, arrogant little turd. Your frustration is his comic relief. By the way. Manager Ivory still has not called me as Mervyn said he would. In all....I have forgotten to record every single time I have contacted these people but my list says 12 even though I know it is more,I have gotten 1 call back.

Bought a Toshiba from Best Buy. A few months later, the keyboard stopped working. Best Buy gave me a brand new one. Again, the keyboard stopped working. Best Buy could not give me a new one. Called Toshiba. Sent the laptop to Toshiba. They sent it back WITHOUT fixing it, and there was damage. Sent the laptop to Toshiba again. Original issue fixed, and the damage. Now I get a notification that says "No battery is detected" . . . WHAT THE LITERAL !!!! GET IT TOGETHER TOSHIBA!!

On July 12, 2015 we purchased a Toshiba DVR620 DVD/VHS recorder from the Tinley Park, IL Best Buy for $219.99. We immediately experienced erratic recording and returned to Best Buy who told us to contact Toshiba. We admit we should not have been so patient with the recorder to see if the problem would correct itself. We called Toshiba earlier this month at , we were given the www.acclaim.toshiba.com website and to follow the instructions for return. We were unable to submit our request because of the purchase date. We are very disappointed that, even though we were told we could send the recorder back, we are now unable to do so. We will have to purchase another VHS recorder - but not a Toshiba. Thanking you in advance for any assistance that you can provide.

In July, we got two new Toshiba Chromebooks. Two months later the hard drive of one died. Toshiba required we ship it to them in their shipping box or they would not accept responsibility for it, even though we still had all the original shipping packaging. This box cost $29. After it shipped, they sent a confirmation number and the information numbers to check on progress. The numbers never worked and the site said that the serial number of the machine didn't exist and it was not recognized by their repair status system. In the third week after the initial call, it showed up at the door. No notice, nothing, just the machine in a box left at the door. The sheet inside said it was "Repaired." No detail as to what they did. It seems to work, but I am out $29 to send it to them. 10% of the purchase price to fix a machine that broke down in the first 60 days. I like the machine, but Toshiba customer service is as bad as ever. I have purchased a lot of computers for myself and our college age kids including some powerful MSI machines. Our service experience of most companies, HP, MSI, etc., has been good but this was not. This is my 1st and last Toshiba.

I am really fed up with your product that i brought last year. It was having stuck every time and when i showed first this machine in autorised toshiba care in kerala , India first they told its may be because of virus and then we formated it and but was not regularly used. Again it was showing stuck with mouse and they give back after some adjustment. Then we gave there and they told they changed the keyboard in warrenty and i have the bill of that but its not shown in the online site. After all it was not ok and so i took back to uae and shown in abu dhabi and they told first hard disk complaint and then also problem was there and then they told its the problm with keyboard and tgen i told it is already changed and shown the bill. Again they changed the keyboard and mose together. I told them the system is not having speed and they told its because of new hard diak and it will take time. But i was not using it regularly and use only to store my data. But again this laptop is not booting now. What to do...? I paid for extend the warrenty. But for the date i purchased this laptop I am suffering with this. I want this laptop replaced. Beacuse to the service center itself i have to go through taxi and pay a lot of money again and regularly. Very bad product i got from you and very bad experience.

Pathetic customer service over 15 days now my led still not repaired technians has visited 4 times and placing old which are already not working. And neither telling the exact status if the new part. Bad customer service .Never just anyone to take toshiba appliaences.
