Cigna/Express Scripts customer representatives have a really terrible attitude. I call a few times to help with work related stuffs and 2/3 representatives always give attitude to their customer. I don't understand how they can able to represent the company with this kind of services. If they upset with their job then just quit.

Not paying what the plan clearly states that they cover, deductible magically reset in September...Never the same story from these thieves, what a waste of money and time, can't even go to the doctor without fear of what they won't cover this time......Absolute worst insurance company in the absolute worst country for medical care.

Iam deeply disappointed in how I was treated especially by the customer service manager with whom I had the opportunity to speak by phone . Arogance and lack of understanding !
Paying the bill on time with a bank is not enough to be treated well and charged with additional costs resulting from poor work organization

I'm helping a friend with a situation so unreal I won't even go into detail here. Suffice to say, after reading how awful they are with appeals, We are writing hers in tandem with complaining to the department of insurance (in NYS but every state has one - if ur in a red state, good luck!) as well as the NYS attorney general. I would call every single one of my city, state and federal representatives and complain and demand oversight action. There is an excellent article at Forbes advisor on this as well. Good luck everyone! If we get satisfaction with a specific approach, I will spread the word.

Go smash your face into a wall for an hour, multiple times for the next six weeks. That'll be more productive and less frustrating than dealing with Cigna customer service.
I cannot stress how awful they are.
Employees don't understand English. You repeat exact dates, prices, issues over and over again via chat or phone. Chat they could simply scroll up and see your answer if they don't remember...They put you on 30+ minutes holds only to come back and tell you the same issue you were calling about.

They are beyond incompetent and rude. And they've clearly outsourced to another country ALL hours of the day. I think this is intentional to give poor service and keep our money.
I've had to escalate to my human respurce benefits team because this has been going on over a month. I'm without my meds now and suffering.
I hope my company provides an alternative for health insurance because I will not go through this again. I hope they get the entire company away from these soul sucking leeches.

The HR team is receiving the same hoops to jump through that I did. Telling me to do things I've already done. I have completed anything they requested of me and it's been a wild goose chase. Literally just making me waste my time and effort.
With absolutely no resolution or help.
I'd rather pick every piece of my flesh off of my body in microscopic pieces until there wasn't any left than ever deal with Cigna again.
Going to look for a lawyer next.

I was on hold 90 minutes waiting to speak to a rep. Once I got connected to the rep, I couldn't understand what he was saying due to his heavy Indian broken English. Now I understand why CIGNA wants you to call them after 5pm EST because there customer service is in India where it is daytime in India.

Horrible Horrible Customer service. No matter what time I call, I remain waiting on the line for hours and no one respond. A recorded messages keep coming on that says "Your call is important to us; stay on the line and your call will be answered in te order received." No matter what time I call, I stay waiting for hours and they just do not answer... I finally hang up and I am unable to talk to any representative. This is the worst service I have ever experienced. This is why I decided to go ahead and share it with everybody.

the only one customer service rep out of 5 that answered the phone was going to charge me 4 times my monthly premium payment (Yikes!) Completely incompetent. Come on DeSantis, how can a great Governor let this crappy insurance company operate in your state.

Posted by Anonymous

Completely incompetent customer service reps if on a rare occasion actually answer the phone. Incompetent of looking up Case #ID numbers that have existed for decades. If they do answer the phone they are of no help, they just ask the same info over and over again (must be paid by time on the phone...then transfer you to a phone number that is never answered.

Received a letter on December 27, 2021, stating that I had an address change and to contact them to verify or I will not have prescription drug coverage, effective January 1, 2022. I was on hold for 1 hour 26 minutes. I had to keep repeating myself over and over. My address has not changed (obviously since I received the letter dated December 19). The man I spoke to sounded intoxicated. I was so concerned that I called Medicare to verify my information was correct. Needless to say next enrollment period I will find a new prescription drug plan.

I have health insurance via my husband that allows for massage/physical therapies for up to 50/year without copay, referrals, MNRs needed. My husband verified the coverage with Cigna and selected an in-network massage therapy provider. My initial massage therapy for pain and spasms started in September 2019 that Cigna had no problem paying. Cigna denied my 19 claims from October 2019 thru January 2021. The claims were denied by Cigna's partner, ASH Group, stating that the services requested are not medically necessary and do not support my plan of care.

Contrary to Cigna's claims, massage therapy has provided relief and restored physical activity so I can go on with my daily life. Also, my massage therapy provider has recommended and provided Medically Necessary Review forms for all of my visits in question.

Cigna has still not paid for my legitimate claims, and the massage therapy provider will send me to collections for $1,045. As a result, I am not getting treatment for my condition, and this situation is causing me more stress.

Official company reply

Hello. I really would like to look into the claims for you and I'm so sorry to read about this experience. Please email me at [email protected]. I can help. -CM

I have top-of-the-line health insurance from Cigna that has no copay or referrals required and allows me to see a Massage Therapist for up to 50 visits a year. Before seeing the Massage Therapist, I verified with Cigna, and they confirmed the coverage. In 2019 and 2020, I sought treatment for the pain I was experiencing. I went to an in-network Massage Therapist and they also confirmed my coverage with Cigna.

Cigna denied 27 visits from 10/2019 - 11/2020 through their affiliate American Specialty Health Group, Inc. (ASH Group) stating that my pain level was moderate and only rated between 5-7 (on a scale of 0-10) and that I should seek self-care.

I have been a customer of Cigna for over 8 years, and I have always paid my dues of over
$2000/month.

I have been pleading with Cigna to do the right thing and pay these legitimate claims for almost two years now. Unfortunately, they have not and I am now I'm facing a collection of $1,485. On top of that, I can't seek treatment for my continuing physical pain and I have mental anguish and stress as a result of Cigna's non-payment.

Cigna LTD is making my life a living hell. I have no income because my claim is still "under review". Because of this I am unable to go to my recommended physical therapy because I have no money to pay the co-pay and deductible. I have Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, mold toxicity, and peripheral neuropathy. Even when I'm having a good day where I "look" normal and healthy, I am still battling the constant but invisable never-ending pain. The added stress of having no income is having a negative affect on my already poor physical condition. Cigna is treating me like I'm some low life piece of scum who's just trying to scam the system. That is not what I'm doing. I've been working since I was 15 years old and I am less than 2 years away from being able to retire. If I wanted to scam the system I wouldn't have waited this long. The fact is that I simply can't work any longer. I am physically and mentally drained. Cigna should rot in hell for the undue stress they put on legitimate claimants.

Criminals that are so bad at business that they have to defraud, violate RICO laws and not pay claims to show profit.
Many 9 year olds can make money in insurance. Cigna is United Health Cares party joke.

Stay away from CIGNA. Do not take my word for it, Google CIGNA LTD Complaints. The CEO and Executives are GREEDY PIGS. All they care about is the stockholders and the PIGS at the top. Spread the word to family, friends, coworkers, social media sites to hopefully hit CIGNA in the purse strings by reducing the premiums they collect.

Update for Gina S: The CIGNA rep called to advise their doctor (the CIGNA doctor) is waiting for a return call from one of my wife's medical providers, the Neuropsychologist, in the event we wanted to followup to make sure their call is returned. What is amazing is the letter from the Neuropsychologist is very clear regarding the medical issues preventing my wife from working. We feel it is very clear as well that CIGNA contacts the medical providers even if no clarification is needed, in order to skew the statements received in in order to make them support CIGNA's predetermination, that EVERY ONE CAN WORK NO MATTER WHAT. PER CIGNA IF YOU CAN FEED YOURSELF, AND ANSWER THE PHONE, THEN YOU CAN WORK!!!!!! ****Keep this in mind when you are looking into using them for LTD, and consider policies outside of what State Farm offers. Also I read the CEO David C made around 49 Million in 2016.
******************************************************************
The IME is over: The Dr. took 1/2 hour, refused to take any of the paperwork/medical records and supports we brought with us. Said he had everything they needed. This was a JOKE. Called the claims rep, she said they (CIGNA) take the limitations given by my medical providers, then reduce THE LIMITATIONS TO WHAT CIGNA FEELS IS SUPPORTED BY THE MEDICAL DOCUMENTATION (MEANING CIGNA CHERRY PICKS WHAT SUPPORTS THEIR STANCE) AND THEN SEARCHES FOR JOBS I CAN DO (EVEN THOUGH I CANNOT USE MY HANDS TO WRITE OR TYPE DUE TO EXTREME PAIN). ******************************************************************
My husband does all the typing for the complaints. CIGNA would have paid around $46K for the rest of the claim as the are paying $250 which is the policy minimum based on how much I collect from Social Security. Bottom line: CIGNA Owns many politicians as the have many lobbyists and I am sure make many contributions to political campaigns to make sure the laws are in their favor. Fight so others may not get screwed as CIGNA does not believe in paying what they owe, no more, no less!

The Email Address [email protected] Is For Cigna's Cgi (customer/consumer Advocacy) They Are Useless And Only Serve To Provide Lip Service By Making You Think They Will Help Resolve Your Issues, When They Are Just Trying To Stop You From Complaining/to Placate You.

[email protected] (ceo) Is A Better Option. Also Look Up All The Other Cigna Executives To Voice Your Issues.

I purchased Long Term Disability Insurance with CIGNA (LINA) for about 25 years prior to making a claim. The insurance was offered through my employer State Farm. CIGNA covered 2 years of my disability (after the 6 month wait), however now they are performing a two year review for any occupation. An IME (Independent Medical Exam) has been scheduled by CIGNA for me, even though Social Security approved my claim on the first review.

My medical records/history is very extensive, covering multiple surgeries and procedures in an attempt to try and make my conditions manageable; however they just keep getting worse. The pain is excruciating, it affects my sleeping, moods, mobility, relationships, everything in my life. It started out with Endometriosis in my mid early to mid-twenties, which ended up in a total Hysterectomy.

The Endometriosis developed into Fibromyalgia, which then also was complicated my Diffuse Small Fiber Neuropathy (diagnosed as a result of a Skin Punch Biopsy). This affects my bladder, causing incontinence which is unable to be helped by Rx medications as I am beyond that point. I can wear heavy adult protection, with a heavy pad, all meant for adults with Incontinence, but when stressed it has gone through all my protection, soaking my blue jeans, causing me to have to put a towel on my car seat to drive home. I have Mental and Cognitive issues, which are in large due to my Physical Conditions which are all predicted to stay the same or get worse. There is NO prognosis for the medical conditions to ever get better, and or improve.

From the voluminous amount of complaints by claimants about CIGNA on the Internet, I fully expect them to deny my claim as this is standard procedure for the company so their CEO, and VP's can make all the money they do being overpaid for denying valid claims as indicated by past State Insurance Department investigations, fines, rulings.

I have a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Primary Care Physician, Rheumatologist, and Neuropsychologist who all support my disability and have written letters explaining the same along with what they are basing it on. I also have an Urologist who can support my Bladder/Incontinence issues, along with a prior Pain Management Doctor who after several procedures said there was nothing else he could do for me, as everything he could try was exhausted. I also provided a complete record from my prior Rheumatologist who I went to for years prior to my new one.

CIGNA (LINA) has immense amount of test results, history of countless failed procedures performed in an attempt to alleviate my pain and urinary issues with no success, record of past missed work, and medical history which all backs my claim as being legitimate. *It is amazing just how many times CIGNA claims to not have received documentation even though the medical provider or us have included the Incident Number with a cover sheet, and every other place we are sending that information has received it. Also how many times the Medical Examiners reviewing the documentation for CIGNA take only certain words or sentences from a claimants Medical Providers to bolster their case, IE CIGNA Cherry Picks what they want to use, and disregards what does not support CIGNA's case.

For those suffering or those family members and friends going through this: I strongly encourage using this website as a means to voice your issues/concerns, along with writing your State Insurance Department and the Insurance Department for whatever state your disability policy was written in. Also writing the State Insurance Departments that previously investigated and fined CIGNA in the past Connecticut, California, Massachusetts, Maine, and Pennsylvania, as a means of letting those agencies know even though they cannot address your claim (if the policy and or state you live in is not in their jurisdiction) that things have not changed with CIGNA, so hopefully the States reinvestigate CIGNA and fine them again.

Your State Legislature, Local Official's, News Agencies such as Daily Mail, CBS, NBC, ABC, ETC. are all worth writing, along with Social Media and CIGNA's Executives (once you have your handling Reps Email Address then you should be able to figure out the Executive Email Addresses by using the same format). The more people that fight this Mega Company the more chance they will be held responsible for their crimes of greed, dishonesty, and Bad Faith Claims Handling all for The Powerful Almighty Dollar. CIGNA has a massive amount of Lawyers and Lobbyist to make sure the deck is stacked in their favor, so only through a mass effort can we hope to change Corporate America.

The CIGNA rep called today to advise their doctor (the CIGNA doctor) is waiting for a return call from one of my wife's medical providers, the Neuropsychologist, in the event we wanted to followup to make sure their call is returned. What is amazing is the letter from the Neuropsychologist is very clear regarding the medical issues preventing my wife from working. We feel it is very clear as well that CIGNA contacts the medical providers even if no clarification is needed, in order to sqew the statements received in in order to make them support CIGNA's predetermination, that EVERY ONE CAN WORK NO MATTER WHAT. ****Keep this in mind when you are looking into using them for LTD, and consider policies outside of what State Farm offers.

Also I read the CEO David Cordani made around 49 Million in 2016. GREEDY PIG, PIG, PIG! But don't go by what I have read, research it yourself.

**CIGNA WILL CONSTANTLY CONTACT MEDICAL PROVIDERS THAT SUPPORT YOUR CLAIM, STATING THEY HAVE ADDITIONAL QUESTIONS EVEN IF WHAT YOUR PROVIDER WROTE IS VERY CLEAR. IT IS A TACTIC THEY USE TO WEAR THE MEDICAL PROVIDER DOWN. ONCE THE PROVIDER STOPS ANSWERING THEM BACK, THEN THEY CAN DENY, STATING PROVIDER WOULD NOT FOLLOW-UP. THEY ABUSE THE SYSTEM. CIGNA IS SCUM!
