I would like to commend Brad Forrer and Nicole Wood for the wonderful and efficient support they extended during our family's recent stay at the Sands of Kahana in Maui.

They arranged all the activities that enabled our family to enjoy the beautiful island of Maui.

I have never had a problem with Expedia, and tonight, 10/21/11, I found a lower price on their webpage and within 20 minutes they had refunded the difference of 84.00 and gave me a 50.00 coupon. Have you ever considered that most people only provide comments when they are negative, hence the delta in the scores.

I travel by air a lot for business (often monthly), and I use Expedia almost exclusively. I've never had any problem. I frequently need to change or cancel reservations, and that all works fine. When I need to call, I am on hold for generally 10-15 minutes. The longest telephone wait time has been maybe 1 hour.

Sometimes the customer rep I'm talking with has a strong accent and is difficult to understand, but that just means I need to have them repeat a few things here and there. I've found the reps to be reasonably pleasant.

I admit, whenever I am planning to travel there are two sites I visit first, Expedia and Continental. I like Continental because they have non stop flights from Houston to Dayton, where my family lives. Expedia helps me get started on traveling to my final travel destination by giving me airfares, car rentals, cruise prices, hotel prices, and even amusements in the area. I admit I don't buy the amusements, but they are great for ideas.
What I like about Expedia:

easy to use no matter what type of travel help you need
saves my searches so I can easily visit again
allows me to quickly...

Suddenly i don't miss Zoom just as much
Nothing makes a man's heart palpitate as much as the words " honey, lets book a flight and see........)

The cold sweats of online trawling for countless airline companies, who each have their own agenda, the British Airways's and Emirates' who will not use flight search companies, the slog to the retail flight centres to be amused by their prices...... and the list goes on.

Enter Expedia. the dot C A version i might add. Yes, they too suffer from the elitist airlines who do not want to surrender seats at a reduced cost, but rarely, and i mean rarely, in the past year, have i seen expedia beaten. Yes they did tend to be kicked to second best by a certain american flight company, but since early 2010, they have came back with a vengeance.

as for the actual expedia experience, i find it quick, easy and reliable. Three keystones of a good flight. Secured payments and a profile work wonders for grumpy old men who loathe having to re-enter family members time after time again. The itinerary email that doesnt need 12 pages to print is also very appreciated. and whoa - whats this - a unique code to check the status of your flight from anywhere? Outstanding. Like i say, if i can book on expedia and not need a shot of whiskey, I am having a good time.

Now, my only slightly comment would be more directed towards AirCanada than expedia. Why do you not honour the seat allocation booked through expedia?? for those of you who are wondering what i am talking about, I always try and search out a good seat on a flight, and this past Christmas, i was pleased to have found good seats. When i got my tickets at the terminal to fly, guess what. I had been moved.

I admit at 6'2" i am not the biggest guy on a flight, but for someone like me, who isnt built like a summer reed, a middle seat in the middle row of a transatlantic flight isnt enthralling. But, i got to fly when Heathrow airport folded under a centimetre of snow so no complaints really.

Back to the task in hand, do i recommend expedia? Absolutely yes. Do i recommend taking the price you get from expedia and looking online further? absolutely yes. But like me, 9 out of 10 times, you will be back to Expedia. and in March, I am hoping to book my first expedia vacation to Vegas so stay tuned....

Great for booking your own holiday from scratch.
We frequently use Expedia to book our holiday's from scratch, including flights, hotels and cars, always helpful especially the map search for hotels.
Only word of warning when planning multi-stops holidays, lay off the Red Wine as things start getting more expensive after the third glass; this is not Expedia's fault. :-)

I just wanted to say that I recently booked a short getaway with Expedia. We were not able to get to go on this trip due to a mechanical complication with the flight, then a snowstorm cancelled our next outgoing flight. Expedia was very courteous and professional each time I called to let them know what was going on. They even called the hotel for me to say that we would not be in until the next day due to all the delays and cancellations with the flights. After much frustration, not with Expedia, but with Mother Nature, we decided to give up and just stay home. Expedia's customer...

Gotta say I was very worried after 2 hours waiting in vain for a rep on the phone (during hurricane Irene) and reading all the bad reviews here. But on the day after the hurricane and a mere 30 minute wait I had the friendliest rep named Kurt who handled my cancelations and refunds exceptionally. It took nearly 1.5 hours holding while he called the airlines involved but he never lost me or failed to do what I wanted. And he even called me back when I got tired of waiting and hung up after I was satisfied that everything was done. He understood my situation perfectly, spoke perfect English..

I have been using Expedia.com for several years now. I use it frequently to research travel destinations and itineraries, and have booked with them (hotels) many times. My experiences with Expedia.com have been EXACTLY what I expected. The prices (consistantly competitive) remained unchanged, and Expedia passed along any special requests that I had made. While their property descriptions seem to be quite honest, I don't often rely entirely on their customer reviews - there is another website that I really like to use for that.

Even if you're not ready to book your travel, I highly recommend using Expedia to research your vacation ideas - the site is fast and easy to use! And when you're ready to book .... I recommend Expedia for that, as well.

Happy Vacation :)

Travel is an important part of my life and I have utilized most every travel service on the internet at some point. One web site that I seem to turn to more than any other is Expedia.com. This on- line travel service offers quick flight searches, competitive pricing, and several other services to assist the traveler in finding the best deals. Web Site Commentary: Expedia.com is a full- service travel web site and it can be used to search for flights, cruises, rental cars, lodging, and special activities. The search functions work like they do in other sites and they ask enough information to find a list of matches for your desired flight, cruise, etc., without getting too specific. The site then returns some potential matches and asks you, the potential customer, to look over the choices and narrow down your selection. Expedia.com lists its search results in price order, from lowest to highest. Customers can change the sort order to fit their desire (for example, flights can be sorted by arrival time, departure time, or duration), but the default sort is by price. This is a nice change from other web sites, which often sort the results in a way that is most beneficial to the business. Expedia.com lets you, the customer, see the lowest priced option first in order to save you the most money.

I like the search function at Expedia.com and I notice that it has been improved over the past several years. With flights, for example, Expedia.com provides the ability to select a different, nearby airport directly from the search results page, for price comparison purposes. There is no need to click "back", on your browser, to start over. You can make these changes quickly and painlessly, right there on the search results page. They could improve the search function more by adding a feature that would allow customers to look at flights one day (or two) before or after the selected dates, for quick comparisons. But the search function is still good and it returns flight results in good time. After making your selection for your vacation plan, Expedia.com will display a full summary of your desired purchase, along with options to add more services if you like. These other services can be hotels, car rentals, activities, and more. I used to be annoyed by this when I first started to use Expedia, but I have grown to appreciate these offers. Often, these extras are offered at a discount rate and they can save travelers a good amount of money on their vacation costs.

Does Expedia.com offer competitive prices? The answer is yes, for the most part. Expedia.com offers good prices on flights that are usually just as inexpensive as any other travel site. However, lodging and cruises are a mixed bag. What you find in Expedia.com may or may not be the best deal available and it is important that you continue to search and make price comparisons before you accept.

Bottom- Line Viewpoint:

Expedia.com is a very good travel web service, for flights and other travel- related items. It's easy to use, and the prices are competitive. It doesn't always have the lowest price available, but it has become my travel website resource of choice and I will usually check Expedia.com before I check any other internet travel site. Good search options and good information keep me coming back to Expedia.com to fulfill my travel needs.

I've read the comments from the customer's and I really am dissapointed with the feedbacks and from what they experienced i understand that it's really also frustrating on the cutomer's end.I value my work and the calls i recieve everytime trying to resolve as much as i can but Expedia is a business company that also has rules that we need to follow.Previous comments on this page from employees makes alot of sense about the advantage of reading and knowing the policy first before booking something online.I guess if worst comes to worst the best thing is that Expedia will also come to think of another alternate solution of these problems specially regarding hotel. e.g.updating the website so to know if the information is correct or if its still ebing offered by the vendor. or agents going extra mile by maybe calling the hotel to reconfirm a reservation for the customer to avoid frustrating cistomer getting to the hotel being adviced no res from expedia. This simple gestures will already alter and eliminate issues like these. And for as the customer's,one should really educate about the policies inorder to avoid further confusions of a request. If both sides will try to meet halfway then im sure all will ends well.

"Totally happy with customer services. We have been booking holidays through expedia for years never had any problems. My husband had to cancel a leg af his journey and asked if I would deal with it from aussie. With no clue what to do I rang the help desk on two seperate occasions, I was treated so nicely and they looked at all different allternatives for John. I have no doubt we will be touring through Expedia again because of the helpful customer service personel.Thank you Jan Campbell. (Thanks Alisha and Falcon both of you are a credit to Expedia)

I have been using Expedia for the past eight years. i typically travel with them twice a year. I am thrilled with their service. They have always been polite and helpful on the phone, and i have only experienced two problems, neither were their fault. and both were corrected by them. in once instance i had a meal plan, but when i arrived the buffet restaurant was under renovation. i spoke to the hotel and they offered no assistance. i called Expedia and within three hours the hotel manager approached me and and handed me some signed vouchers that we could use at a neighbor hotel and he apologized for the trouble. the second was a change we had added a traveler when we arrived at the airline they were missing the extra person. Expedia only allows 5 travelers we had 6. luckily we arrived at the airline 3 hours early rather than the recommended 2 hours. i contacted Expedia, they contacted me back and had spoken to the airline, who had told me that i would have to pay for the additional person. it turned out that the airline had oversold and bumped the 6th traveler (a 5 year old) to a separate flight. Expedia was able to get us all on the new flight. turns out it was a more expensive direct flight at the same price. their service is great. yes there will be glitches there are with every company. but i can’t say enough about them.

Hartford to Orlando
The website is very easy to use. You can navigate for just airfare or total packages (air, hotel, rental car). You don't have to register first to get quotes. You don't have to submit them for approval. They come up automatically when you enter in dates and destinations.
When your ready to purchase you can register on their site which is just basic info: account name, password, your name, etc....You don't need a credit card to register, only to purchase. Once you register, you can create itineraries with their current prices. If you don't want to use a credit card online you can call their 1-800, which is listed as an option when booking. And they encourage you to call if you have any questions before booking as well.
I booked airfare+hotel+rental car+airport parking. My family (myself, husband + 2 boys ages 4 + 22mos) had a great time. We only went for 4 days (tue-fri). All those services were just under $1100. We printed the voucher's needed for parking along with our itinerary once it was paid for. Our itinerary number is your confirmation number and was emailed to us as well as on the what we printed.
We received paper tickets in the mail for our flight. They said it would take up to 14 days for them to arrive. They came 3 days later. I would have loved the e-ticket,(it wasn't an option for the package I chose), but there wasn't a line when we got to the airport: so it really didn't make a huge difference. A week before we left I called the hotel, car rental and parking agencies and airlines to make sure we had solid reservations. They all confirmed our reservations so I really had no worries.
We flew delta song which was great. Very friendly people, even had satelite tv for everyone free of charge.
Once we got to Orlando, we were able to choose our car and go. The whole process took about 10-15 minutes. It was Alamo.
The hotel check in was even easier. Fairfield Inn by Marriott. I gave them my name and my credit card (for incidentals) and they gave me my key. That took only 5 minutes, tops. Check-out was just as easy. We did it over the phone from our room. When I woke up on our last day, our receipt was slipped under the door and waiting for me with all of our incidental charges. $0. Can't beat that. The hotel was very clean with a great continental breakfast. It was close to all the attractions. The pictures on the website were accurate to the actual hotel.
Since everything went smooth and I had no questions, we didn't deal with customer service. I can't tell you if they were nice, rude or helpful. I think not needing them is a great sign.

have been a loyal Expedia customer for over 5 years, and have booked numerous flights and hotels through them in many locations of the world. Even though I always shop around for better prices before each trip, somehow I always end up back on Expedia. They not only offer competitive prices, but also always reliable and friendly services. In fact, when I made a mistake with booking and had to change the flight, they happily waved the $200 change fee without my asking.

Their interface is very user-friendly. Although, here's a little trick they play on you. If you are trying to get the cheapest rates from on a particular flight or hotel, and keeps checking the price every 5 minutes, you might see a sudden price surge and start thinking that the price has gone up. Don't be fooled; the price is not really going up. Go into your browser's Internet Options, and delete the temporary files and cookies. Close the browsers. Then go back in again, you'll see the real price again.

I can't say they offer the best prices on car rentals though. I think you'd be better off going to HotWire if you are looking for the cheapest rates around.

Overall though, I'd give Expedia a grade of A.

so far so good. i have booked 5 or 6 international flights with expedia with zero problems. i also booked a hotel in amsterdam which went flawless as well. getting flight tickets is very simple, just chose a departure time on the day you leave and return. after that the procedure to confirm and pay for the flight is simple. also, expedia has no booking fees when ordering online. the entire duration of buying a flight takes about 10 minutes. you just have to fill out a page for the traveler's information and then list the credit card and number. a confirmation email from expedia usually follows within a day of purchase. i have also received multiple update emails regarding my flight status from expedia. about 2 days ago i noticed that there was a missing flight on my 3 stop return from europe (a x-mas flight). it was my flight from Europe to the US. i called expedia because i was concerned. the first lady said that it was because flight times overlapped with the airline coming home (continental airlines). she called the airline and after holding i was told the the airline was closed for the night (it was after 12:00 am (midnight)) eastern time. she gave me the times that continental would be open the following day, gave me a reference number which had details of this conversation and my situation, and she told me to call the next day. her english was not perfect, but it was easy to understand her and she understood me as well. the next day i called. (only down side was waiting 20 minutes before my call was answered). once again a lady answered (with adequate english). i gave her the reference number and soon i was where i left off the night before. she called continental and i was on hold a long time (she checked back with me once saying she was on hold waiting for the airline still). she came back and gave me a good option from continental for my trip home, so i was pleased. i was put on hold once again... however when she came back she gave me an option from continental for the first flight to europe as well. it saved me 6 hours of travel time!!! i was very excited. Now my flight was only through continental and not (air canada and lufthansa for the departure from US). The customer service was great to me (despite problems that other customers have had). just try to be polite and patient with customer service and they will try to help. hopefully all my flights go well. i am curious if people who had cancelled flights were able to get expedia to help them get a new flight free of charge or full reimbursement of the original flight. hopefully all my future trips go well and i have no horrible experiences with expedia. also, expedia never sends out paper tickets do they? or can you print out tickets 24 hours before your flight? i always just bring my expedia paperwork and they pull up my flight information

Expedia is an easy to use booking engine. I recently booked a trip from San Francisco-Tel Aviv with an extedend return ticket. After looking at other websites I found Expedia to have the best fares, airlines and schedule.
Research:
I went onto Orbitz,Expedia, Opodo, SkyScanner and other websites to narrow down my search. One of my requirements was to avoid flying through JFK and flying on an American carrier as they nickel and dime you on international routes. I found an airfare on Brussesls Airlines operated by Lufthansa for all flights but the BRU-TLV flight.
The airfare was $1,725 with all taxes. Other websties listed a lower fare and higher taxes. When I went to Lufthansa's website they were quoting $2,100 for the same fare.
Booking:
After selecting the right itinerary I was presented with a confirmation before entering my payment details. It was quite easy to enter in the credit card, Advanced Passenger Information for security and passport inforamtion. I was able to request a special meal but seats could only be reserved by calling Brussels Airlines and Lufthansa.
The itinerary only listed the Expedia Reference# so I went online and entered my details and was able to get the confirmation code for Brussesl Airlines.
I chose the itinerary with the Airbus 380 out of SFO as I wanted to try and score a flight on this plane.
Expedia charged the right amount to the credit card and their customer service is efficient and they were able to help me to confirm that everything was in order.
The Terms and Conditions of the fare were spelled out and it can be changed for $250 fare difference unlike the consolidators who were charging the same fare. Student Fares are the same but require you to carry the International Student Identification Card an extra fee and you would be flying via Chicago, Brussels to TLV. I would rather go via Frankfurt and Brussels going and Frankfurt on the return.
All in all it was an easy and intutive experience. The fare quoted was the fare I paid.

"Long customer service wait, but came through in the end."

It's not true that Expedia.com has terrible customer service, though it's true that the first few times I tried calling, no one would pick up. Finally someone picked up and I explained to her that I found a better price. I was put on hold for around 20 minutes while she consulted with her advisers, but in the end, Expedia.com refunded me 450$ and threw in a 50$ coupon.

They have my trust, would definitely use their services again.

I purchased a flight ticket and scheduled the wrong dates. I called within 24 hrs to cancel, they were friendly and prompt. I got a full refund. Will definitely use their service again.
