Worst customer service no phone # to reach sucks big time Anonymous 9/1/10 8:11AM

The is perhaps the fustrating service I've ever received from a company. IKEA customer service is complacent, arrogant and uncourteous. You would think a company that has it's origin as a mail order furniture company would have had that part of their business down to a T by now. I placed 3 orders well after I placed an order with Ikea. All 3 orders were processed and delivered. I called Ikea well after the estimated delivery date has expired. They've practically done nothing since I placed the order, other that charge my credit card. With serious competition, i don't think anybody will bother with this company. What Ikea needs is a pepsi to their coca cola. Anonymous 8/16/10 12:08PM

Most miserable retail experience I have ever had.
I experienced horrible customer service while physically at the store (Minneapolis), just as other commenters have mentioned.
But the ULTIMATE was when I arrived home, opened the box to my 6-drawer dresser, and found that THERE WERE NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDED. No instructions. After calling customer service and holding for a good 20 minutes, I was told I should RETURN TO THE STORE WITH MY RECEIPT. There's no way I'm returning to that palace of misery. So I requested that they email me the instructions. I was told it could take an entire day to receive them.
So now I have a dismantled dresser cluttering my room, waiting for instructions. HORRIBLE.IkeaHater 8/10/10 1:43PM

Ikea's web site is maddening. The $500 gift card is not what it appears. I just wanted to look at what the store has. There are too many sites to choose from and I never got to the one I wanted. I can use the $500 gift but the process was complicated and sneaky. I'm not at all happy with my on-line experience at Ikea's site. It's a shame because I like their products and really need furniture. cea12345@aol.com 7/11/10 7:33AM

Ikea has the worst customer service. They don't list a 1 800 number to speak to a live person and anna is generated automatic computer software that does not give the appropriate answer to your questions. When you call the store you are on hold for at least 20 min. before someone picks up. If your product is not in the store they have no factual information about when the product will be in. Then they will tell you to call the department itself and again you are waiting for someone to pick up. When they do, there is still no factual answer about the product. Ikea is only good if your product is available, if not don't even bother wasting your time to get information about the product. You never will. Iknowbest 6/3/10 8:33AM

I picked up for a customer today $2500 worth of kitch. cabs its was on a skid. told the lady I would back up to the loading dock so that fork lift could just place it in my truck. said cant do that. you have to load it by hand, said are you kidding, she answered NOPE. so I was going through the order (i did not, or would never order) said my customer said to add some sliding trashcan holder for the cabs. gave her the number and said add this to it, Ill pay for it here. she said nope you have to go find it upstairs, looked it up said its in stock. I said well just have it pulled. she states cant do that you have to go upstairs and get it, asked why? dont you have it back there. she again just responded with a nope. so I said whatever. Ill just tell her you didnt have it. so there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.when I as a contractor have to shop at Home depot and spend $2500. they go out of there way to help me out. load it for me etc. This place sucks. and when I get back and start to put this crap together Its REALLY CRAP.I called later to find out about 1 cab that was missing. was on hold for 45 mins. b4 I could even tell someone what I wanted. I will never return, and will advise my customers to do same. and get this. it was at there Flagship store in Conshy.

they clearly don't want you calling. circular recorded menus on the phone ... called during "customer service hours" and they said they were closed. Hung up on me after all that.Caroline Vanderoef 2/6/10 2:09PM

I recently went to the closest ikea store 40 miles away. I needed to buy a few items to finish a kitchen remodeling job. While I was there I tried to return an item that was bought online. They would not accept the return because it was purchased online and there way nothing they could do. Any other store would have no problem with a return. I stormed out of the store so they could not take any more of my money. When I did I was attacked by they loss prevention manager. The stores are more communist now than they ever were. Lawsuit pending! mants 8/18/09 4:11AM

Have not neede a lot of customer service from IKEA, but the little I have had has been good. Every employee in the Seattle store has been helpful, even the one who might have been on his lunch break who climbed the wall to take down the clock I wanted since the only one there was the one on display. Had to return a couple items once and had no hassle at all. Anonymous 3/19/10 1:05PM

I had a problem with a couch I bought at IKEA. I called Customer Service as soon as I noticed (on a Sunday afternoon). Everyone I dealt with on the phone and in the store was very friendly and apologized for the problem. The only drawback was that I had to go into the store to return it - I rented a zipcar truck for my original trip and I was worried I would need to do this again. Luckily, it fit into my sedan with the back seats flipped down. mobiuschic42 8/5/09 12:28PM
