Outrageous attitude. They have a broken link to a software download. They insisted that I PAY them to even tell them about it. Rep was snotty and not at all helpful. Companies like this usually get what they deserve -- which would be unfortunate here, because their actual product is a good one.

Horrendous customer "service". Located in Costa Rica. They won't even answer a simple question unless you pay $49.99. Don't buy one of these!

Horrible customer service. Sounds like outsourced to Mexico. Very basic skills and in the end could not fix the issue. Sounds like they made a software change in August 2010 that has completely messed up existing SB Pro users.

Write your box password down and put it in a very safe place because if you loose it you will be charged for the privledge of having slingbox give it to you. My computer crashed and with it was the word file I saved the slingbox info in. You cannot email them and get your password no you must pay $30 for that. Terrible. Any other site would have software available to securely retrive your password but these chowderheads get $30 a pop. Would not do business with them again.

Marked deterioration in service! I used Slingbox telephone and live chat support several times two years ago when my unit was new. At that time, I was extremely pleased with their responsiveness and wrote an enthusiasic evaluation.

Now, however, the situation has changed. My unit is working perfectly but after a reformat of my notebook I needed to download and reinstall the software. The website has changed and I could find no link for downloading the Slingplayer software, so I telephoned customer support. To make a long story short, the representative apparently wanted me to pay for the URL to download the software. That was unacceptable, so I ended the call.

I then posed the question on the forum and noticed a short time later that they had deleted my comment about having to pay for telling me the URL. Since I had not violated any rules of the forum but had only stated facts, that didn't seem quite right either.

I eventually found the software at cnet.com. It is an older version but once installed, you can easily update.

Hello, I have a slingbox -Pro I bought it about 2 years ago. This device allows you to stream your cable or directv over the net to a PC or even your Mobile phone and even change the channels on it. When I bought it I asked is there a monthly service fee I was told no you just buy the hardware and hook it up over your internet. About a month ago it quit working as far as changing the channels. I checked the hardware everything looked fine. did a software update and it mysteriously couldn't find my directv remote codes which it had done easily a few years back. So I contacted customer service and they said I had to pay a 30 dollar service fee and that it was non-refundable even if they may not be able to fix the issue. I believe this to be extorsion instead of having the foresight to have a a monthly fee they are intensionally causing a progaming issue to get money out of us to have it fixed!!!

Bad support. Moved from one house to another at the receiving end. Same router, same ISP, same everything both ends.
Nothing works at the new location, and I can't get support from them unless I pay for it!!!
They sell a product that, after 4 years, the thing won't work and you have to pay them to make their product work. That's ugly.

I had problems with my Slingbox, so I ended up not using it, but I did continue to use my SlingLink Ethernet Bridge, and it worked fine for the last five years. I'm now having a problem that I can't definitively narrow down to being with the Ethernet Bridge, although I strongly suspect it is. I asked if I pay the $29.99 for technical support if I get my money back if they can't help me. No. Of course not. Since I can't get help with troubleshooting, my path forward is not clear at all. I suppose I'm going to have to buy a new one.

This company is a joke. They make it incredibly difficult to set the thing up for remote viewing with limited model numbers for Directv receivers and types of routers. Then they demand you pay $30 every time there is an issue. Instead of allowing you to set things up yourself, they make it complicated so they can earn extra cash. Its crazy how much they market that $30 fee. Ask one question and its the first thing they bring up. I asked where I could find the user manual on their terrible website and they answered with their $30 service. I had to press them on where to find the manual.

It will cost you $29.99 per question answered! A total ripoff! Online is usually pretty responsive though. But I'd still like to talk to a real person instead.

ABSOLUTE PIECE OF JUNK!!!!!!! We are now being forced to return the second defective Slingbox PRO HD.

Slingox customer service completely unable to assist on either problematic unit.
