DO NOT GET AT&T service if you can help it. Horrendous customer service - you can never EVER cancel..even when you call them every month. You don't want to renew after your contract expires..TOUGH luck..we'll keep charging you every month and refuse to reimburse you claiming you never called. Currently "holding for a second" for about 1.5 hours. Worst company ever.

The worst customer service ever. I have been trying for over an hour to cancel my at&t worldnet dial-up. All the customer service reps keep transferring me from one location to another. I think I will just call my credit card and tell them to no longer accept charges from AT&T. That should fix the problem.

I have spent two weeks and many hours trying to update my email accounts billing information, i just got off the phone spent over an hour being bounced to six different customer "no" service agents who had no clue as to how to help me... I give up

Okay, here's my dilemma!!!

I have been on the phone with ATT customer service for 1hr and 20min and still on hold. I just want to disconnect by ATT residential phone line which I hardly use over the last year. I got the customer service # from ATT website and dialed it and it took me to the voice prompt to enter my phone # and voila there comes a live person on the other side and I got transferred to the disconnection department. That happened, over an hour ago. I am still on hold but still optimistic that someone will come back online and will help me disconnect my home phone service. Whew, I am beyond upset. I have a feeling that enough with ATT, I am thinking of switching all my services from ATT to VErizon as I do have ATT wireless and uverse services as well. I guess ATT will lose me as a customer after this experience.

Okay, here's my two biggest problems with AT&T:
1. They're my cell phone providers.
2. I'm on deployment on a US navy air craft carrier, and the only way i stay connected with my wife is AT&T phones that are scattered around my ship.
I have a special ship-to-shore calling card that i can recharge over the phone using my credit card, fairly simple right? Apparently not. two weeks ago i charged it with a new credit card i recieved in the mail, and it took the non-english speaking customer "service" representitvie over 30 minutes to understand my name, address and credit card number. 30 minutes!!! are you kidding me?!!?! i spent more time talking to this guy than i did my wife, it was absolutely rediculous.
today i tried recharging my calling card using only the last 4 numbers of my credit card on file, only to find out that the only credit card number they had on file for the same calling card was my old credit card. so after talking to the SAME guy for the SAME amount of time giving him the SAME information he said my card was ready to be used. i tried using it, and there was still no minutes on my calling card. He charged my credit card and put no minutes on my calling card! i am livid.
Don't waste your time with AT&T

I am totally SICK of AT&T. It seems that I cannot access any tech support unless I want to pay for it. I have never had decent service from AT&T. Am signed up for phone and internet - nothing but problems - Now I have absolutely NO phone service! Message on my phone states "line in use" and I can neither receive nor make calls. It's time for AT&T to straighten up their act. How many dissatisfied customers does it take? I have never had trouble with my phone before and this is making me angry!

I TRIED TO FIND OUT WHY THEIR SITE FOR NEW SERVICE QUESTIONS WASN'T WORKING BUT ONLY GOT REFERRED TO A ANDROID-DUMMY. I WAS WANTING TO FIND OUT ABOUT DSL TODAY AND FILLED OUT THE ZIPCODE BUT IT TOOK ME TO A PAGE FOR CURRENT CUSTOMERS??? WITH SERVICE LIKE THIS THAT IS MAINTAINED OUT OF THE USA NO WONDER...YET SOME OF THE REAL PEOPLE OVER THERE AREN'T AS RUDE AS THE US CSR'S - BUT - THEY ARE GETTING THERE AS WE ARE TEACHING THEM TO BE RUDE.
AT&T YOU LOST OUT TODAY.

I would love to know how other users have been able to 'reach' a technician. I have the same problem as WH Martin...IDENTICAL - and within 24 hours of the onset of his issue.

I'm willing to sit on the phone and give it a try, as long as I can get the phone number.

Can anyone assist?

You SUCK! I spent an hour on the phone with your "technician" this morning and she would not help me. My email went down this AM and is now asking for a passwords. None of the passwords I try will work. She would not let me reset my password because I could not answer a "security question" the subject of which I never selected. I was offered no alternative. I have been using ATT for about 15 years and If I don't get some help fast, I am history and I will spread it around.

I live in rural Alabama, and have the choice of using only dial-up internet. AT&T dial-up internet tech support is so lacking. Most of the time I can not get thru to prompts to a real person or I get the wrong department. I lose my internet connections every 2 to 15 minutes.

Attention AT&T employees! don't refer your customer's GEEKSQUAD. If you can't help with equipment with that your techs setup, GEESQUAD will only charge your customer's for our "hands on" service!

I signed up for internet service through AT&T over the phone...I ordered a certain speed..that was my order..that was my contract..however, AFTER receiving the equipment, paying someone to come out and help me hook everything up...THEN I find out the speed I wanted for my internet service 'isn't available in my area at this time'...whaaaaaat? So, I call them and want to cancel the service and return their crappy modem and they say I'll be charged a cancellation fee of over $200 every month for the duration of the year's term (the term of a contract for a service I'm not even getting..???)
WHO DO I CONTACT TO AVOID THIS OUTLANDISH CRAP?????? I HATE AT&T and can't wait to cancel my total service with these liars!!
Heeeeelllllp!!!

This is old, but from my readings here. Little has changed over the years.
-----------------------------------------
AT&T is the epitome of incompetence, disgraceful support, rude associates and fraudulent charges.

Attempted to get away with charging me $3.00 per month because I didn't use their required minimum long distance time. (AT&T is no longer my long distance carrier).

Raised my charge card interest by 1.25% without notifying me. (I no longer carry an AT&T charge card).

Used AT&T's WorldNet 30 day free trial dial up for three days. I canceled on day three. Five months later I get a letter from a collecting agency in Colorado requiring I remit $14.95 for AT&T services. AT&T never notified me of this problem. They have no mailing address, and one can spend thirty minutes pushing number buttons and never talk to a person. AT&T bought SCB which was my local provider. So, now I'm back with the idiots at AT&T.

Latest fraud by AT&T for the Month of April, 2009. I sent a personal check on 04/28/09 in the amount of $22.75. This is the amount of my telephone bill. AT&T altered the EFT to $82.75. I disputed this change and during the billing cycle AT&T added a late fee of $1.08 plus a stop payment, which I did not do, fee of $22.77. I requested an adjustment, of $22.77. AT&T has fraudulently changed my check amount and added fees that do not apply. AT&T owes me $83.85 and will not make the adjustment to my bill or checking account. I have filed a complaint with the FTC and my state Utilities Commissioner, and the Atlanta Better Business Bureau, which has a separate office to handle AT&T complaints. What an honor this must be for AT&T. As of this date, I no longer have land-line telephones in my house.

Addendum: 06-27-09 AT&T did what they should have done in the beginning of my complaint. They did a credit to my checking account in the amount of $82.75 followed by a check in the amount of $15.61. I would not wish AT&T on my most dreaded enemy. Instead of Madoff receiving 150 years in prison, he should have received only ten years of calling AT&T customer service

I first started trying to cancel my old Worldnet email account in Jan 2011. I tried all the phone numbers on their website. I also wrote to this address and got no response from AT&T Worldnet Services, P.O. Box 1923,Morristown, NJ, 07962.

Finally, I found a good phone number that led me to a real person! They do not have very good business hours so you may have to call a few times. 1-866-456-2586 is a direct #. You can also get there by dialing 1-866-456-2597 and they will transfer you.

All around AT&T has the worst customer service ever, but hey, atleast they are consistent. We tried to get our service hooked up after we moved and had to make several dozen phone calls and finally someone came out to tell us that they couldn't do anything today but they would be back and so a week or two later someone else comes out and says they 'blah, blah, blah...going to lunch, probably couldn't get it hooked up this week'. Someone else is coming. Finally got it hooked up and so this guy puts in a request for the line to be buried, that would probably take 2 weeks. Okay, that works. Then, 2 months later and several phone calls (one phone call, the rep. askes my husband if the line he wants buried is on the ground or in the air? this could be part of the problem :]) someone comes out and sprays paint on the ground and says he is sending in a request. Great. The guy comes out today and buries it with a shovel (the guys before said it would be with a machine so they couldn't do it). It looks terrible. There are holes in the ground. It's sloppy. If we would've known all of this we could've buried it neatly months ago. Every single time we call them, someone polite answers the phone and ANYTHING THEY PROMISE IS JUST TALK. Nothing ever is done. I am really outraged at the lack of action from this company. It's ridiculous. I feel like they do this because they can, they're bullies. We don't have many other options where I live.

I am searching for a way to make my voice heard with complaints on at&t customer service. No link at AT&T website, no opportunity to complete a survey -- zip, zero, zilch.

So as I surmised from my interactions with brave and hard working customer service reps (hats off to folks doing a thankless job!) the company simply doesn't give a rip about its customers anymore than a pig farmer cares about the pigs he raises to sell.

I will never ever recommend AT&T to anyone; in fact I will encourage people to use competitor services for tv, phone, and internet service. My problems have been on-going since 11-17-2010 and today is 12-10-2010 and I am out of both voice phone service and the dsl I have now (after waiting
3 weeks) is coming in a a phone number that is called ring master..So, when you call my actual phone number, you get a disconnected message. The People try to be nice, but at the same time, many of the promised (like I will call you back) get broken. AT&T is horrible. If I were an employee, I'd try and go work for another company. I am switching everything back to cable service. good bye AT&T---

I would never recommend AT& T just because of thier customer service.... it takes hours and hours to find right person. their online option is terrible as well. can't find required information.

My name is Mary Alice Underwood.  Throughout the last couple of years I have had several of your ads requesting I get set up with AT&T uverse.  I've had solicitors come to my home telling memos it's great benifits and how lucky I am to be in an area recieving it and when I've called  AT&T customer service regarding my phones I've also been solicited.
I decided to receive the services. When I called I was scheduled an appointment 2'months away. I cancelled my charter cable and my landline needed for my TiVo.' the service man Richard came out today and accidentally drilled through and electric line. I'm not upset over that... Accidents happen.  He then was unable to get a signal and called for service. Another man came out assessed the situation and stated that I am not in the correct area for service. I now have a cut electrical cord in my wall, no cable, no DVR and no uverse.   Please look into this matter and see if anything can be done.  Thank you, Mary Alice

incredibly poor customer service!!! at&t cannot provide us with anything other than dial up service so we wanted to cancel. Eight phone calls - one lasting approximately 40 minutes - and still no satisfaction.

I can't believe that a company like AT&T would treat their customers this badly. They just started to redirect me to the Yahoo email platform and I can't access the Worldnet email platform. I have been paying extra to access the Worldnet platform and they still deny me access. All of the support telephone numbers are permanently busy and the emails to their support line bounce. I am going to cancel all of the services that AT&T provides to me. That's the only way I (we) have to protest this horrible treatment.

I wanted a clean, simple, honest email service that allowed me to manage all my accounts. AT&T decided to capitalize on our loyalty by thrusting us at Yahoo. This is unwanted, unjustified and a BIG MISTAKE.

Yahoo = A WHOLE BUNCH OF ADS, convoluted privacy settings, convoluted subscription settings, zip code opt out setting, behavioral marketing settings, sharing settings, etc etc. This new Yahoo page is a HUGE MESS it looks like someone threw a bowl of spaghetti against the wall.

If I wanted to Yahoo I wouldn't be paying AT&T a monthly fee! I am outta here folks. This longtime worldnet customer is leaving that poor excuse for a business called AT&T. The ATT-Yahoo migration is the straw that broke the camels back.

AT&T will lose all of us. If any of you read this comment, do what I'm doing. It takes a bit of work, but GET THE HELL AWAY FROM AT&T.

And with the migration you want my birthdate, my gender and my location so you can 'customize' the ads? Great! I'm a 100 year old man located in Young America Minnesota. That's right, I gave them a birthdate of 1910 and a fake zip.
