I used The Hartford for my short term disability following my surgery. I started my process in in August for my surgery in November to allow for time to get any information that would be needed for my claim. 2 days after my surgery in November I had to go the doctor office to get the information needed to complete my
claim. After having surgery is not the time to get information from the doctor when there was a 3 months to request and obtain the information that was needed.
Secondly, towards the end of my claim again I submitted my return to work letter which included the date of my return and any restrictions. This was submitted in December and my return to work date was 1/31/2024. My approval was completed on 1/31. Per the Hartford Group they needed information from my doctor. I was never informed of that any medical information was needed. I was never was informed that there was any issues with my claim. By allowing this to happen this caused a delay in me receiving my payment which in turn caused return of payments and delays in payment of my bills which in turn created late fees and return fee.
When I discussed the situation with several representatives which includes the claim analyst; all I heard was sorry for any inconvenience this situation created. We are sorry but there is nothing we can do. I was accused of not following up on what I did. This situation has caused me so many issues and to be so distraught and devastated. Your motto is to trust the Hartford Group and I can't. It saddens me that I have to rely on the Hartford Group again.
