I used to love Trader Joe's but my list of disappointments continues to grow with all the cutbacks they are making to their products.

What I have noticed:
1. Smaller packages of nearly everything--I think we can all SEE that.
2. Selling smaller fruits and vegetables (so you have to buy more or come back more often)
2. Way Less meat in salads and soups. I had their White Chicken Chili today and I swear to Dog there was two teeny-tiny chunks of chicken in the whole container. This is the same thing they are doing with their salads--giving you just the smallest bits of chicken now.
3. Notice way less cheese in the gluten free macaroni--all I could mostly taste was the noodles.
4. Dark chocolate cherries--little cherry to lot of chocolate ratio now. What did the do, but the cherries into quarters?
Anyway--I could go on but it really has been one disappointment to the next and I use to just RAVE about the good deals I got on TJs. Not feeling that way anymore. Are there still good things there? Yeah, but I feel I've wasted some money trying to figure what is good and what is not good anymore recently.

My TJs used to sell TJ orchid's exclusively (4 years and prior) but now I seldom find a TJs orchid, mostly Silver Vase. I'm more concerned that none of the South Carolina locations get in the TJs Exotics orchids. My friends in Houston and VA find them most every day. I know that our stores floral come from Daytona Beach which I would think would have more than Phals or moth orchids.

Be careful when shopping at Trader Joe's in Rego Park NY. The manager discriminated against our business partner by running after him as he left the store to take away food that was already paid for saying that they had limits for How much food could be purchase by people of a certain race. This is blatant discrimination and should not be accepted

Utterly disappointed in how you're skimping on chicken in your salads;
You raise your prices and reduce quality/quantity- that's indication you think you can deceive your customers - not nice !
Might as well pay Whole Foods and be satisfied!

How about you guys getting keto items like sugar free yogurts and things sense you are a healthy store correct it's sad when I go to all the other stores and they have it and are not a health food store

I see you have decided to store and present your produce in cardboard boxes placed on the floor where dust, dirt and bugs will find easy access. It does not make the produce at all more appealing - in fact - it looks like you've had a flood and you're trying to make the best of a very bad situation. Cardboard boxes are in the basement or at the curb for recycle - never for storing food. Ever!

MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY SAYS:

"The phrase "reduce, reuse and recycle" can be a great way to save money and to be more sustainable, but it may not be a great way to store food. Storing food in the wrong container can contaminate food and cause a foodborne illness. Michigan State University Extension recommends that only food-grade containers are used to store food.

Cardboard boxes that have contained raw food may absorb moisture, allowing bacteria to grow, and possibly contaminate other food. Cardboard cannot be cleaned and sanitized. Waxed corrugated fiberboard, used to ship produce, is able to resist moisture, but not completely, which potentially allows microorganisms to grow."

If you go to a market - Eastern Market in Detroit - nobody displays their produce in cardboard boxes.

You do know that dark slightly damp (damp from vegetables stored in boxes) cardboard boxes are the perfect breeding place for palmetto roaches who can so easily scuttle from the floor up a box and hide beneath the potatoes.

Whoever had such a lambrian idea needs to be stored in a cardboard box.

I have been shopping at Trader Joes for 20 years. But, believe me, I will avoid the produce henceforth.

Thank you so much for bring back the original Gluten Free Breads. They are the best on the market. The gluten free.muffins are delicious as well. However the best would be to add a blueberry on to the list. As well please don't discontinue the Corn Ribs, they are amazing. My only other suggestion would be to add a turkey sausage. I known I'm asking for a lot but I hope they are good selections.

I love Trader Joe's and shop there on a weekly basis however the past visit I purchased a package of organic ground turkey and a package of organic ground chicken. Both had a sell by date of September 28. Today is September 24 and both packages are spoiled. I am aware I can return them to the store however I do not have the time to return spoiled meat to the store as I am meal prepping for my daughter. With food costs increasing it is so disappointing to throw away food that should still be useable.

Please bring a Trader Joe's to Hendersonville NC. We want you look at our population growth and realize you are needed here.

Why is it that almost every Trader Joe product has seed oil in it? Are you aware how toxic seed oils are to humans? Trader Joe's has always been one of my favorite stores but as we "know better.... We DO better!" Sprouts seems to care more about the seed oil issue and less of their products have it. As people get smarter we read the ingredients and will spend our dollars appropriately.
What will Trader Joe's do about this seed oil issue?

I am very disappointed that you have discontinued the shortcake biscuits. I was told they were a seasonal item which makes no sense. It's only July 10th, the height of the summer shortcake season.
Please rethink this item and bring it back.

I need my wasabi mayo and you're not selling it any more.

What's the story?

I just tried Trader Joe's Italian Tomato and Red Onion Focaccia. It was not good. A lot of bread, not particulaly tasty. A few onions and tomatoes. Very disappointed and not recommended.

Dear TJs:
I am writing to express my regret that you are no longer selling your "Organic Sprouted Tofu". It has been a delightful mainstay of my vegetarian diet and I miss it enormously. If one longtime customer's appeal holds any value, I beseech you to reconsider it's demise.
Many thanks for your consideration

I need gluten free products and when I found the double chocolate almond flour cookies, I was surprised & pleased at how good they are (many GF products are not tasty). After buying them several times....you discontinued them. My store is in Kendall (Miami) and I drive almost an hour to get to it, only to find some of my favorite products discontinued. PLEASE consider returning them to stock.

I am so appalled that I went into Trader Joe's on Fallbrook in Canoga Park, I asked if I could use a credit card number from an online in my email, the clerk said he didn't think so his name was Josh, he rang his bell so Captain Rick came over and he told him and he said "No", you can't do that, I said okay I will check with corporate and verify and he replied arrogantly " When you find out you are wrong you can come back and apologize to me" are you kidding, this is the Captain of the store and the cashier was shocked as was I that he said that to me. When I was walking out and he was standing by the door " I said I can't believe you said "I should come back and apologized to you ", Rick replies " you were staring me down " the cashier and I were both in shock that he said " I should come back and apologize to him" what the heck, I said to Josh " you heard him say that? He said " yes" he asked if I wanted a bag, I said " no, and not paying for it " he gave it to me.
Rick's reaction is really scary that I should come apologize to him!
Read the Yelp reviews on this store too.

I bought 2 bags of the everything but the bagel nut duo and on the package it says 1/4 cup is serving size and there are about 8 servings. This is not true. I measured and bagged up the nuts and i got 5 1/4 servings and about 1/8 serving. You need to either put more in the bags to make # of servings true or change your label. This is very misleading

I finally found a trader Joe's , I was taking my son to doctor. I looked online and the sight is So unfriendly I have No desire to actually go into the store and be treated like I was treated online,!

I have a crackling citrus green tree candle and I love it but...
the wick doesn't go all the way down and I am losing about a 1/4 of the candle. Seems like a waste of candle. Any suggestions?
Thank you.

You previously carried Miyoko's vegan butter. You still carry a couple other products from the Miyoko company. I believe the miiyoko's vegan butter sold very well because you discontinued it and replaced it with a Trader Joe's brand of vegan butter. It was so inferior to Miyoko's I bought it once and never bought it again. I have spoken to other people who said the same thing. We would really love it if you would start carrying Miyokos vegan butter again

Many people. Are commenting on your products you change to another brand Examples include. Park cheese. It taste like sawdust , you stoped selling. Bay blend coffee. It was the best , your balsamic vinegar the new version is horrible. Not good. I now have several items to take back I will not be trying anymore or the replacement item . The joy of shopping at Trader Joe's. Is gone. . How sad. For many. Who will no longer trust your store. As it's hit or miss. . When you go to the store you expect. Great quality at. Yes a higher price. That's fine. But to have crappy products at a higher price. We will be shopping a. Whole Foods not hear .

I have been a customer of yours for many years. I drive 30 minutes to my nearest Trader Joe's because my town does not have one (YET, I hope LOL). In 2020 your company FINALLy decided that your caricature names of ethnic foods would be removed and I was so glad. I had been complaining for years but I was one voice. Thanks to Ms. Bedell and your own Kenya Friend-Daniel you began the change to really stand up to your statement. "We are committed to continuously improving diversity and inclusion throughout every aspect of our business. We continue to dedicate ourselves to doing the work, every day, to ensure Trader Joe's is an environment that is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and respectful for all Crew Members and customers." I did not feel included or welcomed or respected when I was shopping for items and saw the way you chose to label your food. It is 2022 and I still see photos of products bearing the racist names on your website and I hope that is an oversight. The name Trader Joe tells me it will be free from high fructose corn syrup, it will be priced fairly and that it will be delicious. You don't need anything else in the name to show us that. Thank you for making the change and I hope your company will continue to grow and know that we appreciate the changes you are making.

I dont really want to make my comment public. I have enjoyed your store for 25+ years. Today I purchased 2, Beef Shepards Pies. Wheres the meat ? Where are the veggies, the box even says, for 2 ? We each had one. Way to much mashed potatoes, that took an extra 5 mins to cook. I've never, ever, complained about anything in my life, and I am 66 now. I love alot of your other products, but you need to change this Shep. Pie. Ingredients, let's say, to match the picture on the box ! I would sell this product, and unless changed, you shouldnt either ! GCC

Stop selling Stolchiniya Russian vodka in the stores. Outrageous that after 9 days of war Russian vodka is still on your shelves

My son (just turned 5) sat in the shopping cart at the checkout point, the cashier asked him to climb out of the cart. My son was slow to respond his request and did not want to leave the cart, then the cashier became impatient at me, demanded me to remove my child and started to giving me a lecture about his scanner etc. he was extremely rude and condescending.

Does he have right to demand my child leave the shopping cart? Is there a store wide policy that explicitly states that you have to remove your kids from shopping cart at checkout? If there is a policy displayed in the store we would comply but as any parent knows, it is much easier if the kid stay in the cart the whole time to save the parent headaches of chasing them around - they could run out in the parking lot and get injured while parent is paying.

I have a friend with a visual impairment and she has difficulty (1) grocery shopping and (2) trying to use self-checkout kiosks. She cannot find the barcode on items. I applaud Trader Joe's for maintaining staffed (and friendly) checkout lanes. You help make shopping accessible for individuals with disabilities.

Thank you to Richie at the Paradise Valley AZ TJ's! He is an outstanding representative for your brand. He helped me find ingredients for a special meat loaf (Wolfgang Puck's recipe) and for a double rich chocolate ice cream recipe as well. Patient, cheerful, and kind - made my experience so much better than I expected it would be. AAMOF I must complement all the employees I interacted with on my trip today. Very clean store, many employees available to assist, everyone was busy BUT helpful. Again, I am appreciative of the work that is being done by Richie and others to help people who are struggling a bit. Thank you most sincerely.

I shop at Trader Joe's twice a week. I go to the one at Florham Park. Everyone are so nice. Today Justin went out of his way to help me find a product I was looking for. He is an excellent employee. Thank you for this fun and happy store. They all go out of there way to help.

?BUYERS BEWARE!?

I am so disappointed that TJ's has sold out to produce suppliers by accepting produce coated with "Apeel/Edipeel"! It is toxic (though the manufacturer claims it is safe and edible- sound familiar?), and impossible to wash off. My friend just got sick from organic broccoli from WF coated with the crap.

I will not be buying ANY produce from ANY TJ's at ANY time unless you refuse to buy from suppliers using this on their food. I may even stop shopping at all TJ's entirely. Further, I will VEHEMENTLY spread the word to everyone I know and beyond until our stores wise up and care about the food they're selling us, as well as our health choices and consumer choices/disclosure in general.

SHAME ON YOU, TJ's!
STOP BUYING PRODUCE COATED WITH APPEEL!!!

I think it might have been a year or more ago, but I was so close to buying a separate additional freezer just to stick up on the frozen appetizer, Spicy Kung Pao Chicken Mochi balls (I thinks that's what they were called). The next time I went in there l, they'd been discontinued. I almost cried. I could live on those darn things. BOO!!!
PLEASE BRING THEM BACK!!!

Kudos to the customer service department at the south Tampa Trader Joe's. I had no problem returning doggie treats because my dog had recently passed away. As I continued shopping, an employee got my attention and presented me with a bouquet of flowers. I immediately broke out in tears. It was such a kind and compassionate thing to do. I will never forget it!?♥️

I want to let Captain Dion know how much I appreciate Lori Opaka. She always goes above and beyond to help me anytime I have a question or need to find an item in the Vancouver, WA Trader Joe's. I love her energy, her attitude, and her warm smile. You have a winner, don't ever let her go. ☺️

My husband and I were at the UWS TJ's (2073 Bdwy, NYC) today. We are seniors who use assistive devices. The elevator was broken and we do not feel comfortable using the escalator. A tall and athletic staff member named Clive kindly offered to escort each of us separately down on the escalator, offering a strong arm for support, with an additional trip for our shopping cart. He stayed close while we did our shopping, then he made the trip with us from floor to floor in the same helpful way. Without him, we would not have been able to shop today. We want to give a big shout out to Clive! We thank him, and his mother, for raising a good son!

Just got back from your Cambridge Mass store, and found out you now have discontinued 'Seville Orange Marmalade'. What's going on here, it's a stable breakfast food. and a flavor add-on for cooking! Mrs. Bridges jam is now on the shelf, but it's a strawberry flavor. What's wrong with marmalade? We can't all survive on junk food aka 'Dunkin Donuts' for breakfast.

In the past you also got rid of my favorite Smoked Herring with Tomatoe sauce, now its canola oil. The new Mediterranean Dorado gilthead bream is ok, but it needs more added spice for flavor and less oil! Also, some time back you got rid of my favorite crackers, Roasted Gorgonzola Crackers - your present offerings do not compare.

We understand a business is all about making a profit, but at least before an item is about to be discontinued, inform the customers beforehand. In the case of my marmalade, I would have bought a six-pack for future indulgence.

Hi!

On December 29, 2016, I was desperate to get at least 6 more of TJ's holiday Panetone treats.

Adolfo Paz, at Store #171 [Hastings Ranch), went sell beyond the call of duty by double checking for Panetones in his store AND called seven other stores to check if any of those stores had any Panetone. Although no Panetone was to be found, I really, really appreciate Adolfo's extra-efforts to look for them. Adolfo is one of main reasons I love and appreciate shopping at Trader Joe!!!

KEEP THE GOOD STUFF FLOWING~~~

Yoda Peony,
a satisfied TJ customer

Yesterday, 12/16/2016 we called the Broadway/72 st in Manhatten at 7pm to get an update on our delivery. We found out we misunderstood the delivery time and it will be after our guests would arrive at 8pm. We called the store and talked to Evan and explained our predicament. He arranged a special delivery within half an hour at no extra charge! what a service!

Product; Trader Joe's Karat Cake, Very disappointing, to much icing, texture and flavor not good. We were unable to eat the cake. We took off the icing and fed to wild birds, they looked at it yet did not eat the cake.

It was too much trouble taking it back to the store therefore I'm sending the instead.

lOVE, lOVE, lOVE Trader Joe's. We'll all take the time to complain about a company, but rarely if ever put the same amount of time to a positive one.

One of the best stores ever. Returns, exchanges are quick, easy, and no questions asked. Trusting the customer is #1, and that is, above all the most important quality in a company, especially a franchise.

quality, price, variety - you can't go wrong with Trader Joe's.

Trader Joe's, 4715 SE Cesar Chavez Blvd., Portland, Oregon, has more employees that lack customer service skills than any of their other locations. A few employees have been known to not greet or thank the customers and even make fun of and talk badly about them. Management doesn't seem to be doing anything about it. When a manager was informed about an employee's behavior, he replied, "Maybe she's having a bad day." However most of the staff are friendly, helpful and respectful.

Best service! If I forgot something, they will ring a bell and have someone else go grab it for me. Its a wonderful place.

Avoid the walnuts, they are always rancid. The pomegranate juice tastes like sugar water.
I wish 1800-shop-tjs was still working.

I enjoy their breads, very strong 100% cranberry juice (mix with sweeter juices). Low cost Charles Shaw wines are OK. The sunflower seeds are good if the package is very tight (like a vacum pack)

I shop at your Everett WA store located 811 Everett Mall Way . I was in your store this 04/14/13 I was interested in a product , but the wording was not really clear of what the ingredients was , it used a term Garlic flavored , so I asked was it garlic or a flavor ? Your employee Jessica , not sur of the last name Pezvson assisted me, she had the same problem and then explained she had a hotline but it's Sunday if I left my information with her she would contact me Monday with all the information, Monday Morning came and my phone rang and she left a full message of everything I wanted to know , What a great customer Service you have, you have incredible staff. I wanted to bring this employee to your attention.

On Tuesday Feb.12, 2013 I lost my debit card and rememberd I last use it at Trader Joe's in Edgewater, N.J. I called them and they informed me that they found my card & to pick it up anytime. I went to pick it up & the customer service person there (don't know his name) was so kind. I told him I just had lost my husband recently and that I have been have a difficult time.
The rep. came out from behind the counter and told me he was sorry for my loss and then did the most precious thing he gave me a dozen roses. I cried and he hugged me & told me if there is anything that they could do. I love Trader Joe's and shop there all the time. Everyone is always so kind and helpful and I have never had a problem with anything I buy there. Just wanted to let you know of the wonderful act of kindness which I will never forget.
Thank you.

I love your sipping chocolate - EXCEPT FOR THE hard-to-successfuly-open foil packaging. I'm not clumsy, but the foil seems an archaic method - my last attempt ended with entire tin of chocolate on the FLOOR!! Am I the only person with this problem? Regardless,& with your great expertise, I'd think you'd found a better method. Very interested in comments both from your staff and/or other customers. Thanks in advance for great products, wonderful customer service - Capitola, CA store!
