I got an Milestone 3..as a gift for early Birthday Gift / Mothers Day gift.. referred by customer service..paid 149.00..was told that price was not going to go down,,,Now it's offered at 99.00. Don't appreciate the misleading for a purchase..its only been a 2 week time span. Now they wont even credit or make any offer to make it right. Plus they explained that it was a decent phone for pictures..as for my experience it doesn't have good photos or the ringer is not very loud. Having been a customer of nTelos since they began, I can honestly say I have never been satisfied with their service. However The past three months has been a true example of why I would happily drop them.
I H a phone, the Script. The screen went black, while I was in FL. I called and was told nothing could be done while I was out of town. Ok. I came back and went to a store...was told they are sales only...go to a different store. I went...all total, to three different stores. Was told to call about replacing the phone with insurance. (That has been dutifully paid since we opened our original account.) Another week of playing the "not my office...call this one."
Finally after weeks of this. (And having no phone that works. It did ring...sometimes. But, to answer was a gamble. Any way. After weeks of this, finally get someone at the 'insurance' office, who directed me to take it into the store to verify it was actually broken. Back to the 'not this store...go here.'
Finally ...finally get insurance person who isn't quite certain what we want. I say very simply ' a working phone'. She then says...my phone has been discontinued. I ask for the next upgrade...after a while...I'm told that has been discontinued as well. We play this game for about an hour. At which point she informs me that IF I upgrade to the current 'replacement' I will have to pay store price for it. And suggests I just go to the web site and order one that's on special. So.... back into the customer service garbage heap again. Finally in frustration... over my very loud objections...my husband replaces my phone...but only by getting a new two year contract. I was absolutely in tears. Two more years of this.
The phone arrived. It took two days to activate it. Finally activated and silly me looked for ringtones...simple. Nope. Not with nTelos. Brew is gone. Thumplay is supported by my phone through direct down load...only through internet download. Great. I call.
I don't have a smart phone. I don't have a Blackberry. I DON"T want the internet on my phone. (Not reliable with nTelos anyway...so why get it.) During my call I find out that I and my entire household have UNLIMITED TEXT, TALK, AND DATA! After laughing hysterically I asked why? Hmmm. To use the internet of course. Intersting...since my husband has a cell that barely takes pictures. Old clamshell ...basic. My son has a texting phone. and I specifically looked for one that wasn't a smart phone. So that three out of the four that are not enabled for DATA. The last is a droid...which because of the service doesn't connect...on it's best days. And the icing...I'm in Hampton Roads...depending on which side of the desk I sit my phone on...I'm roaming.

This is a company specifically created to prey on the military. You can only purchase the service within the Hampton Roads/Virginia Beach area, and it's only good within Virgina and parts of some neighboring states. They claim a nationwide plan and that you will get coverage anywhere in America, but it's a lie. Once I moved to Maryland for work after separating from the military I dropped all internet capability. When I called to complain and ask what could be done they told me that it wasn't their fault, and that they are only liable for the service within Virginia. Then they told me it would be $350 a piece for my smart phones and $175 for the flip phone. I went as long as I could go, but after no longer being able to work without dropping a call multiple times I finally went back to Verizon. I called to cancel the phone lines and was told by the representative that "the most we can do" was take $150 off each line. While the $450 dollars off is appreciated, I was lied to in order to switch to this company who preys on the military members who live in the area. To add to the "fun," I have to return the phones. When I asked what they would do in the case of a military member they told me "we only cancel phone lines for members deploying or taking orders in another country" which is completely illegal. After a year of phones falling apart, more calls dropped in a day than my entire 8 years with Verizon, and horrible customer service full of incompetence and lies I have finally paid the $1,000.00 to change to a service worth having. WORST INTERNET EVER! UNLIMITED MY ASS!. I was with boost for 2 years until they pulled out of WV. Boosts unlimited internet DID NOT SLOW DOWN NO MATTER HOW MUCH I USED IT. Apparently with Ntelos you are limited on how much you use. I even recieved a message saying ive over used my internet on a unlimited plan. Now my phone is super slow and youtube is out of the question and my messages are failing and calls are being dropped. Boost never did this and was reliable and kept working grwat no matter how much internet I used. Also when iI got my phone I had to put it on HOME ONLY because it was set to any and I was roaming. I Currently Have 3 Phones On My Account Which Only Two Out Of Three Are Being Used. I bought 3 phones and was told they were good any where. Wronggg. I called and asked for help I was told to buy street phone at any corner. In peru they are expensive and no twitter nor facebook.

I have heard it all!! They are terminating my husbands phone because "He Roams to much." This is the stupidest thing i have ever heard of. We pay for nationwide coverage and they are giving us 24 hours to find a new company, and if we return the phones WE purchased they won't charge us an equipment fee. oh, and their gift to us for being such good customers......no early termination fees for canceling early!!! WE DIDN'T"T BREAK THE CONTRACT, THEY DID!!! No notice, no warning, just BAM DONE!!! Our contract is almost 2 years old and almost over. It sounds to me as if NTelos has has just gotten to greedy for their own good. I ordered a Samsung Galaxy 2 on Friday. I got it via UPS on Monday like they said, however the phone didnt work correctly. My text messages never went thru, almost all incoming calls went directly to voicemail, and the web was non-existent. Apps would take hours to doen load and once they did it would give me error messages. I called Monday evening and all day Tuesday to have different one send various signals to the phone. They all worked for about 30 min-a hour. Finally on Wednesday, after a few more signal tries, I tool the phone into the store. The guy claimed he knew what the issue was and went into the back to fix it. He came back and the phone was working great for three hours and then broke again. I returned to the store on Thursday because I was told by the customer loyalty that they would swap the phone for one that works. The midlothian store dragged their feet for about 45 minutes before telling me that they had no compatiable models. 20 minutes later they gave me the address to the Forest Hill location and promised that they had 2 phones and would be able to help me. The GPS on the phone wasn't working to I had to ride around until I found it behind other stores. The guy there then said had two but were holding them for someone who may come in on Friday. WHAT!?!? Ignore the current customer today for a possible customer tomorrow!! That is when I got upset. I called customer service again and they promised to have a phone ready for me this morning since they were un-willing to waive my early termination fee or apply the cost I paid for the phone to it. Needless to say, it is now noon and I am still holding a broken phone and have no resolution from Ntelos in sight!!DONT CHOOSE NTELOS!!!!! 2/15/13 10:00AMOfficial company reply

I have the shared plan with 5 phones on the plan. One of my family who had one of the phones died recently. I called Ntelos "customer service", and was told to take the death certificate to the local store, and they would cancel the line and waive the fee. Went to the local store and they said they could not help me, they were "sales only", and said to call "customer service". I did and this time was told that death was not a valid excuse for cancelling, and they absolutely would not waive the fee. Wow...just got off the phone with the rudest customer service manager, EVER! A few weeks ago, we tried to activate a phone that was not able to be activated, reasons unsure! Anyway, we were told by Caleb X3050 that we would get the fee activated just as soon as we could replace the phone and call in for activation. When we got a new phone, we called ntelos to have it activated, but was refused the waiver! Paula X 5428 was very condescending, stating that they could not waive the fee, on top of that, our phone could not be insured, which has been insured for the last year. Very disappointed.....
As a long time loyal customer for over 12 years never once switched carriers. I told friends about Ntelos & they switched I didn't receive any credit.
Now for us to have the iphone my bill would go up $40 plus insurance, taxes, totaling $80!!! That is almost double my current bill. This has to be the worst experience I've ever had with a phone company. After one week, Ntelos still has not been able to successfully port over my phone number from another carrier, but what's worse is they don't know why they can't. This is a business phone, so I'm understandably upset that they had to disconnect the ported number (my business number) because they hadn't successfully disconnected the original phone number. And now that they've discovered the first mistake, they can't seem to figure out how to rectify it in a reasonable amount of time. Not only that, but the staff has been rude. Had horrible day, and I do mean day, at Ntelos Danville yesterday. Spent over 3 hrs. without getting email connection, no hot spot, and they didn't have machine to transfer contacts. I went with Ntelos in Jan '12 and haven't been very happy since then. We have 2 Samsung Galaxy S phones on our account , and both are worthless. Phones freeze up all of the time and have to be restarted by taking the battery out. Recently I called customer service again , this time we ended up doing a master reset on my phone. I basically gained nothing from this. I have always had an issue with sending pictures to someone. Just the other day I sent a picture message to one of my bosses , it was work related and important ! Well it took several hours for it to finally go through. While vacationing in the spring in NY , I sent a coworker a picture of Timequare and sent it to him. Well he literally received the picture ONE WEEK LATER. We have no 3G service in my town, we keep hearing its coming , but it never shows up. The way I see it I pay the same for those that get 3G service, yet I don't have it. Basically I'm done with NTELOS ! I still have about a year left on the contract, but I don't plan on sticking around that long. I keep my end of the deal up by paying my bill on time every month, they don't provide the service they brag about. I have filed several complaints about my account with ntelos, all they have to do is look under my name and see every one of them. Good luck to them being able to make me pay any early termination fees. We have been customers, for more than ten years, it seems we always had trouble if there was a service required on any phone over the years. If the phone was repaired by Ntelos service centers, it would come back with usually even more problems.
I guess with this last experience, I decided we are pretty much done. Two of our five phones were eligible for upgrade and we had stayed away from smartphones. This time two of my daughters wanted Iphones. The most expensive, of the Iphone had problems pretty much from the beginning. The microphone quit working within 30 days. My daughter takes it into one of the local Ntelos stores and the rep uses can air and sprays the phone. The microphone worked for awhile after that.
The phone then quit connecting Bluetooth, then it stayed in dock mode. I went with my daughter after her college classes to Ntelos, it was about 15 minutes before closing. The rep took the phone in the back and when he returned he shows us bent docking pins. The pins weren't bent, I checked it before hand and the phone was charging fine. I have an engineering degree in electronics, so looking at the pins on the dock connector was the first thing I checked.
He then proceeds to tell us that Ntelos does not support Iphone repairs, even warranty and we should probably take it to a local cellphone repair shop around the corner. You can imagine by now that I was about to go off it, but left the store.
A few days later we returned to store when we had time and the rep setup a courtesy ship to Apple, for us, just had to drop it at the local UPS store, for shipment (wait I was told Ntelos cannot assist us at all on a telephone they sell and under contract???). This story gets better as it goes. The next day Apple calls my daughter and says the warranty on a $650.00 phone is voided and it would cost $650.00 to replace.
As I said the story gets better. When the phones were purchased the Applecare wasn't mentioned or even offered, but a monthly insurance was pushed for accidental damage.
With apple care a onetime $99.00 fee covers accidental replacement up to two times, and cost $49.00 to replace it. It extends the warranty from one year to two years. The insurance is $10.99 month x 24 month contract=$253.76 plus a one time only accidental damage charge of $200.00
The initial cost and activation of the two Iphones was almost $500.00
I haven't finished my story, now my bill is twice what I paid previously, I was billed for a full month of smartphone services the difference of what I paid was added to my next bill with only a week left in the billing cycle.
I have three other phones that aren't upgradeable unless I pay $175.00 to buy them out, it has been 175.00, since they were new and are well into there second year now, but still $175.00 per phone. Now we are forced to pay the rate of service as if they were smartphones, but those services are not received, on them.
Now if we weren't a Ntelos customer they would by out my contract and pay up to $175.00 per line to switch, to them. If you are already a customer, good luck.
Do you think I feel good about Ntelos and there services.
This since may has cost $500.00 for two phones initially. A extra $150.00 for one week of smartphone service,. All told since may this service with startup fees has cost almost $2500.00, this is November. If I use the insurance for the Iphone, that a Ntelos employee voided the warranty on, because it was closing time and he wanted to go home, is another $200.00
Switch and get bent over, should be the Ntelos advertisement.

Sure wish I had checcked this website before I switched to Ntelos. I switched from US Cellular back in January 2012 because US Cellular did not offer the hotspot tethering at that time. Boy did I make a mistake. I went with the family plan of two phones and bought two Motorola Milestone X phones - have always had good luck with the Motorola phones. Now half the time my phones say "searching for service" and the data service is hit or miss. Have talked to customer service at least a dozen times and have never got a bit of satisfaction. Was even told once that since I live on a large lake I could not expect service. I tell everyone I see to stay away from Ntelos.Kirby 10/8/12 8:47AMOfficial company reply

I'm very disappointed with Ntelos....Customer service is not loyal...they give you the go around...you go to the store and give you the go around. We have been having problems with our Samsung, we got lemons for phones. I believe Ntelos wants to make their quota to sell phones and will do anything to lie for their sells. Next thing you know it you are screwed and when you need assistance you get the go around. I recently switched to Ntelos from Sprint. Since the beginning of my switch I have been more than displeased! I was promised one of my phones to be overnighted to my house due to the second person on my account travels and was going to be at my house for the weekend. We were assured there would be no problem getting the phone so we continued to proceed to switch with high hopes. WELL..... SURPRISE!!!! No phone recieved, no notification, NOTHING!! After calling several times and inquiring on the status we finally were told there was a delay and it would not be there for a couple days?. STRIKE ONE!
I chose the Samsung Galaxy S (Showcase) because I was leary of switching to the IPhone while the other person on the contract got the IPhone;. I was told that the Samsung would be most comparable to the HTC EVO 3D I was switching from;. I played with the phone for a couple days and was really unhappy with the service, speed and everything in general,. I called NTelos and told them the problem about the phone and how I was going to go ahead and try the IPhone'. I was right at the 14 day time frame they allowed and they said that I could go ahead and go to the store with in the next couple days and they would switch it out for me and even credit the restocking fee:. I live in the country and am a single mother of 2 so I do not go out much.. The closet store to me is 30 minutes away and 45 minutes for the next one|. The next time I am in town I go to the first store and am told, rudley, that they can't help me I have to go to the other store. So I drive another 15 minutes away and have to stand in line for literally 24 minutes to be told that it is past my 14 day time period (by 2 days) and that I misunderstood the person on the phone and there was nothing I could do. STRIKE 2! Since then my phone had started freezing, shutting off on it's own, locking up and just really *** me off! I have had to go to the store several times and all I am told is that I have to do a master reset once a month to have the phone operate properly. ONCE A MONTH!!! I am a small business owner and all of my information is on my phone. Having to do a master reset wipes EVERYTHING off my phone! NOT COOL! So basically I am told that they can send my phone off to be repaired, I can continue doing master reset once a month, or I have to pay $350 to switch to the IPhone 4. STRIKE 3 and 4 and 5.....!!!!!
I am really frustrated with everything and wish I never would have switched. I have brought so many people over to them from sprint and am just so irritated. If they would have stuck with thier word and let me switch previously I would not have this issue now. Instead they have an upset customer who will not bring anymore customers to thier business and will never give them a good word of mouth AGAIN!!!!!

Having recently transferred from 5 years stationed overseas i was in the market for a new cell provider for my entire family. I went to all of the major providers and compared plans, prices and network coverage in order to make the best decision for my families needs. After being referred by two different friends to check Ntelos I came to the conclusion that the price and service were worth it, and Ntelos would be a good choice. I WAS WRONG!
I have extended stays in Pennsylvania, and the coverage map showed very good coverage for Voice, and 3G coverage along the I80 Corridor. More than enough for my needs. This coverage map is what most people base their decision on, and it is entirely wrong and totally misleading.
The voice coverage is spotty at best outdoors and nonexistent indoors! Perhaps 50% of the area indicated on the coverage map actually has coverage! When I do have coverage it is poor (1-2 Bars) and dropped calls are frequent.
Data coverage? 3G is totally nonexistent! Nowhere along the I-80 corridor has 3G NOWHERE!
After a few frustrating calls to the customer support line, I was told my phone must be picking up the Verizon towers which only support Voice. 3G is only available on AT@T Towers. Well I went to the AT&T website, found their tower locations, and went to their tower. Guess what? NO 3G!! None! I still only had 2 bars for voice! After a follow up call to "customer service" I was told AT@T may have partners who provide service, and therefore I would not receive it on my Ntelos phone! They even had the nerve to tell me to look for places that have free WIFI!! THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE??!! I had to tell them about the coverage and cell towers, and it was apparent they were just reading a script! When I asked about options I got SILENCE on the line, NOT EVEN AN APOLOGY! I had to check if she was still on the line and ask about options twice! Oh, there ARE NONE!
So what you may ask about the coverage map? ALL MISINFORMATION AND FALSEHOOD! I realize that coverage maps are a best case scenario, but this is an outright misrepresentation!
The long and the short of this is I was told nothing could be done about it, and I would have to live with it! I have 3 iPhones that are totally USELESS and a brand new 2 year contract that will cost me thousands to cancel! If you travel, STAY AWAY FROM Ntelos!! You will send all of your time roaming!!!
I just want my phones to work where they TOLD ME they would! That's all, I just want what I'm PAYING FOR!
My intent is to let as many people as possible know about this, First, I am going to stop my friends from recommending this company. Second and I am going to do everything I can to make people aware of this! The true power of the consumer is to refer OR NOT refer a company! I intend to do that until this issue is resolved to my satisfaction! Have 2 HTC Merge phones . Both stopped working. They said it was water damage. No way. My husband maybe. When he works out. He sweats. But are they really that delicate that you cant put them in your pocket? Mine is in my purse or desk drawer. No water what so ever. But they say its pink and that's water damage. (no kids either) They say the contract is void. Have to use insurance and buy new phones The phones are only 6 months old. Im getting rid of phones and phone company. Ntelos is not worth the trouble. I signed up for 2 phones and was told that there will be no activation fee and there service covered my area. When i got home i did not recieve complete service. i returned them the phone 2 days later after just getting the phone and i recieved a high bill with the 2 activation fees of $35 eac. they did not go on their word for i would not be charged for activation. they are liars, cheats, and 2% satisfaction guarantee. I advize everyone to stay away from ntelos. They draw you into a trap to steal your money and credit. There staff is very rude, makes too many mistakes and are unproffessional. I have been a customer with NTelos ever since they opened in our area around 11 years. I've make my monthly pymts and have been very happy with my service until now. I have spoken with about 5 employees today including a supervisor. They disconnected my service after due to rolling charges. My farther has a Dementia stage 7 he has been in icu and recently moved to health south and that was my only way of communication. My husband just had a major surgery and is now home without a phone. I've made a pymts on the 14 and 27 of 280.00 Dollars this august and they want 530.00 more and wouldn't give me until Sept 4th for a other pymt. I am very disappointed in this company.

NTELOS HAS BY FAR BEEN THE BEST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD WITH A CELL PHONE COMPANY. NOT ONLY ARE THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES LOCAL AND NOT OVERSEAS WHERE YOU CAN BARELYE UNDERSTAND THEM AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE SAYING! THEY ARE DEFINITELY THE BEST IN WIRELESS. THERE ISN'T ANYWHERE ELSE YOU CAN GO AND GET THE SERVICES FOR THE PRICE. THEY ARE SERIOUSLY LAUNCHING SOME FABULOUS PHONES AS WELL. I WOULD RATE MY EXPERIENCE WITH NTELOS A 10 OUT OF 10. I ALWAYS TELL MY FRIENDS ABOUT THEM AND SERIOUSLY WHAT DO YOU REALLY HAVE TO LOSE THEY GIVE YOU A 60 DAY TRIAL PERIOD TO SEE IF YOU EVEN LIKE THE SERVICE. NOW THAT IS WHAT I CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!
