I am living overseas in a foreign country and have been saving my money in an ING account, able to transfer it to another bank account. Suddenly, when I try to transfer my money, I get a message saying it can't process my request at this time, despite the fact that I've got thousands of dollars in my ING account. I've written to customer service but haven't heard back. Now I have no way of accessing my money and I'm trapped in a foreign country!

Our mother passed Sept. 10, 2012.Me and my siblings have sent in all of the requested docs to Ing, ie. certified copies of death certificate. Each time one of us calls we are told it takes ten days to process a check. It is now the end of Nov. 2012. Where is their compassion. The money is to be used to finalize the funeral payments not for our use.

When you mistakenly call "after hours" you get a telephone message with 15 different choices to "select." After you go through this hole thing, an automated message says, "Our office is closed." Wouldn't it be just a teeny bit smarter and more helpful if they said the office was closed first? But then again, what major financial entity like this (think Visa or AmEx) is closed after 5:00?? Really annoying.

I had to listen the ad over and over again... just couldnt get to a real person.. waited for long time and gave up eventually. it sucks!

They used to be a decent place to put your money. Now Cap1 buys them and they totally suck. I'm still sitting on hold after over an hour...only to keep hearing "Your wait time is 20 minutes". Who's watch are they going by. Time to close the account. BEWARE!!! The new ING sucks the big one.

I tried to open an account. I gave them all my personal information and was greeted with a screen to call and verify my information. I called the number and was asked the most inane questions you could imagine. Who are my relatives? Who cares. I am opening up a bank account not dating you? How would the customer service rep feel if I ask when was the last time she had IT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS! SUPERVISOR WAS WORSE! ING JUST RUINED MY DAY AND AFFIRMED WHY PEOPLE HATE BANKS!

words really can't describe the BS, stress, ridiculousness of this company. i am 50 years old and can't remember having to deal with idiots like this that call themselves a financial entity. can't wait to get away from them and tell everyone i know and everyone i will ever meet to not deal with this company.

ING Direct sucks, beware!
They made me open an electric orange account after a lot of hyped advertising. They did not tell me upfront that $50 was payable only if I used the card thrice. Never mind, I said. But that was only the beginning. They sent me the card and PIN and it did not work. I sent them mails online. They replied that the pins were now activated. I was embarrassed as it did not work again. I called them. They said there was a typing error about the SS number. It was not my error but they were vague. They wanted me to fill out a whole bunch of IRS forms which was not acceptable to me. They have no answer these questions:
Why were the cards, followed by PIN sent to me before all formalities were completed?
2. Why did they say TWICE on two different days that the PIN is activated when it was not?
They have misled me about the card being activated, stressed me out, wasted my time and embarrassed me at stores on two different days.
They owe me more than an apology. (Their employees are not trained even to apologize, trust me!)

Since ING has been sold to Capital One, the service has seriously degrated. Sadly, this is what I expected when I found out this was occuring. I held in though, hoping for the better.

I loved ING for the higher than average rate of return on savings and checkings, Very few fees of any kind, The ING Easy Orange Mortage, and my favorite, the Loan Account.

So a month ago, they removed the Easy Orange feature...but no worries to those who already have it.. except we can't tell what the rate lock is any longer, since it's no longer published.

Today, they removed the Loan feature.
Tomorrow, who knows...

Time to move my money out.

Capital One, I hope you read this.

I have dozens of cards, from all issuers. I only have 1 Capital One, and that was not by my choice... You purchased it from Chase. So I stopped using it at that time.

You now force me to close my ING accounts.

RIP - ING Direct

I called and complaint about their website on rate renewals.I had long talk with the rep how to improve their website. Few days later my rate renewal option was taken away.

I had to open an account in this office a short time ago and I can assureyou that the service was terrible. The girl who ¨"helped" me was impolite and took advantage of her position to make the client feel uncmfortable. Always defensive answers instead of helpful advices.

Terrible. I have a few thousand in an account with them and they decided to cancel my card because it was "compromised." I appreciate the initiative but the best they can do is have me wait 3 or 4 days for them to mail me a new one. Don't tell me they're not intelligent enough to come up with something more responsive that this BS.

WORST BANK EVER!!! If you need to deposit cash, guess what, YOU CAN'T!! They have no branches or ATMS that accept deposits. ING mobile check feature DOES NOT WORK either so the only way you can deposit your check is, get this,....sending them to ING via the mail. Seriously 2012 and we are mailing our checks to the bank and keeping our cash in the mattress? I have a brand new Iphone and excellent cell service. I can deposit into CHASE without any problem. ING mobile app almost NEVER works. When you talk to their service reps they are very defensive and swarmy. Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.

THE WORST SERVICE EVER! NO SUPERVISOR TO TALK TO. NATE/#1055463-BE SURE TO ASK FOR HIM WHEN YOU WANT THE WORST TREATMENT EVER. AS HE IS THE TOP DOG "THERE IS NOT ANOTHER MANAGER ABOVE ME!" THE TOP DOG, INDEED. CALLED BACK AND LARISSA THOUGHT IT WAS FUN TO PUT ME ON HOLD FOR 20 MINUTES WAITING FOR A SUPERVISOR.

ALL OVER TRYING TO ADD MY SON TO THE ACCOUNT. SHOULD BE A SIMPLE PROCESS. WHAT IF WE REALLY NEEDED THE MONEY. THEY'D HOLD IT CAPTIVE.

PULLED ALL MY MONEY OUT!

I called customer service to try to get a pin number for my sons Money ATM card. After being transfered 5 times , being hung up on, and giving the run-a-round, they said they were cancelling not only my son's account, but my personal account and my business account that I have had for over 10 years "because you called 4 times today" All over trying to get a pin number for an ATM card....go figure. This company has the worst customer service of any business I know.

I recently bought life insurance through ING. First, they lost my application, then it took them two months to even get someone to the house to do my health screening after finding it again, then ANOTHER month to say "hey, congrats you're approved", then they lost my check, then yet ANOTHER month to draft my money, after losing the check until it mysteriously reappeared. THEN AFTER all that, they took out MORE than they were supposed to. They withdrew money from the date of the application - NOT when I was approved (which WASN'T supposed to happen, especially since it took them two months to FIND the application after losing it and then getting someone to the house to even do my health screening AND losing the check I sent). And NOW, the latest and greatest thing is that my insurance amount has changed from two months ago to a new, higher amount. My premium is supposed to remain unchanged for the next 30 years! I can almost guarantee that if I died tomorrow, my kids and husband wouldn't get the money for months, maybe years and that's if they got it at ALL. I'm cancelling my policy first thing tomorrow! What a horribly, unprofessional fiasco!

I am moving our 401K from ING. Notice was given in June 2012. They state that they did not receive the first notice. A second notice was given. Then they state they did not get in touch with the person where the account was moving. Never did they contact me that there were hitches in the move. They missed the 60 day window for the move. Now I am calling them hourly (or more) and no one answers the phone. I get an email telling me it will be another 45-60 days to move the account. They do not want the account to move is my assumption. They dont answer the phones and avoid even their own process to follow up with the manager (me).

I have had a savings account with ING for 5 years. I recently tried to add my husband to the account. This should be an easy process instead it was complete harassment. We tried at 4 different times to add him, from phone calls answering all 5 of their security questions from each of us, verifying our family's names birthdays, SSN's etc etc. We were each on our laptops with their customer service on the phone and it kept saying 'unable to process'. Then they would call us when we were away from our computers and ask us specifics in transaction amounts from random months such as February???!! It was complete harassment, I have no idea why they were making the process so completely difficult. We asked to speak to a manager, he said his name was Jeff and it sounded like he was smiling through the phone the more frustrated we got. I closed the account immediately when the smart a** customer service mgr gave us attitude. We placed our $30k back in a bofa savings acct. Maybe we were small potatoes to them with our mere $30k. SO glad I did not decide to transfer our checking to them, they are a nightmare!

I have been trying since October 2011 to get assets that my mother left to my brother and I after her passing in September 2011. I have spent hours on the phone trying to get access to the accounts even though I have sent in 3 certified death certificates, 3 certified Letters of Testamentary indicating that I am the legal Executor of her estate and one of her beneficiaries. I sent the documents by mail and fax. Even with this information, they will not tell me what her accounts are nor what amount is in the accounts, let alone release funds. I am concerned that they really don't have ANY money, why are they making it such a difficult process? My mother also had accounts with Scottrade and Ameritrade. It was very easy to deal with those companies once they received the appropriate documents. You can easily reach them, but will get absolutely NO resolution. If you want to punish your heirs for their past misdeeds, keep your account at ING, it will make their life a living hell. But, if you even only mildly like your relatives, move your money to Scottrade or Ameritrade and save them the hassle.

One thing everyone should know about the ING direct, they may not charge for Account fees but they have fees. They can avoid the basic fees as they do not provide any other services like “Walking in to a branch and speaking with a human"
If you ever need anything you will Speke with robots, who are trained for one things reach into your pocket and collect the $$ for bank, no matter how old of an customer you are, you are just a number for them to take advantage of you.
With that being said they collect $$ in many ways.

As an example if you use "Bill Pay" form Ing direct and you send out $100.00
They will take the $$ "OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT INSTANTLY" - NOT ON HOLD OR IN PENDING. IT IS LIKE THE CHECK IS CASHED THE MOMENT IT IS SENT.

They gain 3 fold with this approach.

1 - Because the $$ are not in your account they will not have to pay interest on it.

2 - If for any reason the check dose not cashed they will keep you $$ for 90 days without any interest or obligation to you. IT IS ALMOST LIKE YOU GAVE THEM INTREST FREE LOAN FOR 90 DAYS.

3 - If the check was important and did not reach to the receiver, the customer will have to pay "STOP PAYMENT FEE", even of the check is not cashed or has no possibility of cashing.

There are many other rules that will just does not add up like,
ING direct will not do Bank Wire – but they will gladly charge you fee for overnight payment. They also have limit on how much you can send, if you reach that limit they will charge 2ce for overnight fee for the same payment even if it going to same place at same time.

And all these rules are in place to take the $$ out of your pocket no matter if it make sense or not. They are the bank rules and these rules are or should be against the low.

I run a small business and I wish I could operate the same way with my customer, by tacking $$ HOSTAGE from my customer. Brilliant strategy!! Illusions of providing services but the moment they have your $$ you are no longer in control.
I have been a customer with ING direct for almost decade, and don’t get me wrong that they do provide a service, however they are like sharks and they wait for the moment you need your cash, and their call is – OH YA YOU NEED CASH, IT WILL COST YOU ALL YOU GOT!!!

SAVINGS – I DO NOT THINK SO!

Running a business is one thing – charging fee for something is also understandable. Harassing customer with rules that does not add up is just STEALING in my book and I for one do not stand for it.
I will gladly take my business somewhere else.

MY DTR OPEN AN ACCNT WHICH LINKED TO MY CHECKING ACCNT. SHE CALLED THEM TRYING TO GET MONEY TRANSFER TO HER ACCNT AND GAVE THEM THE WRONG PASS WORD. SO THEY FREEZE THE ACCNT WITH $38,000. IN IT PENDING INVESTIGATION. ITS BEEN 1MO. THEY NOW SAID I SHOULD NOT HAVE LINK THE ACCNT TOM MY CHECKING SINCE THE ACCNT IS ON MY DTR'S NAME AND THAT I CAN GET IN TROUBLE FOR DOING THAT. WHAT KIND A BS!!! IS THAT? WILL I EVER SEE THIS MONEY AGAIN? NOW MY DTR AND I ARE NOT IN GOOD TERMS. PLZ ADVISE.

Junk bank - I opened an account almost a month ago and deposited two checks from Home Depot, ING has cashed the checks and just keept the funds with no valid cause. I have made numerous attempts and their employees just dont give a s***. This online bank has actually went ahead and opened cafes to lure more custumers. Unbelievable they can't even run a legitimate financial institution and now are trying to run cafés. Save your self the headache, eat and open your account elsewhere.

6/27/12 ING share builder website is down AGAIN. I now suspect big problems within this bank. I will be transfering to another broker.
