About 3-weeks ago I returned a Nikon Coolpix camera, packaged well and with a request for a return receipt acknowledgment of delivery, to an authorized Nikon Repair Center.
Today, in my mailbox was the very package I had sent, unopened and stamped RETURN TO SENDER.
Frustrated I went to their website and was able to find a page listing repair costs: $97.00 for a repair on a camera about 2-years old, and one that was used occasionally since I own several other better cameras.
LAST NIKON I BUY.
THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH A COMPANY GETS TOO BIG - THEY LOSE THE PERSONAL CONNECTION WITH THEIR CUSTOMER BASE. SO...NIKON YOU SUCK!
In contrast: My GoPro camera, also about two years old had a small part that broke, and a camera back that proved defective over time. It took one week for them to send new replacement parts. And at no cost. That's how you create good customer service and good will towards your company.

Their on line tech support is s**t.
Trying to register a Coolpix L610 bought several years ago.
The manual is for the most part confusing.
On line help no longer exists for this camera.
All I want is to download images from the camera's internal memory.
Why is this so difficult???

I sent my camera to get fixed with the warranty but they returned it with exactly the same problem. I called them and they gave me the option to collect the camera the next day but at the times they want to, that means I'm working and I have to go again to the post office. That's not the only thing, I received an email from the repair service that my camera has been fixed sending me all the problems they repaired without ANY camera!!! because It was the day I sent my camera for the second time! This make me think: Do they really look at your camera?? I don't think so.

I recommend to buy another brand like Canon because I had some software problem and the fixed it in 2 days time with an amazing customer service. I know for sure my next camera will be canon just because of the service they provide.

I bought a Nikon coolpix 8800 many years ago. After lightly used for about a year it wouldn't turn on. I paid and got it repaired by Nikon. When it was shipped back there was a crack around the power button which wasn't there before I sent the camera to Nikon. That didn't bother me too much at least it worked. Later I bought another model of camera so I kind of forgot about this Nikon. Lately my daughter needed a camera for her photography class so I tried to let her use this old camera. But you know what, it couldn't be turned on again. I called Nikon and followed their advise to buy a new battery. With the new battery the camera still couldn't be turned on. Now I got stuck with a broken camera and a piece of battery that is useless. Nikon disappointed me badly.

Nikon does not stand behind its product and lacks integrity. There is an absence of an escalation process to deal with consumer issues and problems. After spending thousands of dollars and being loyal to Nikon, I have to say that I will no longer purchase ANY Nikon product. Your inflexibility and unreasonableness has just resulted in frustration, disappointment and a loss of $1500.00 for me. You do not stand behind your products --I will now have to determine how I switch to a different brand of camera. When asked for corporate office information, all your employees say is "it's on line". Well it is not!

Nikon customer support answer when I send my Nikon SLR camera for repair. It is under warranty. "Thank you for calling Nikon. Per our conversation today, your camera was sent back with no repairs made because the serial number plate was altered not original. Not manufactured by Nikon. Not able to service the product."

This sucks as i brought a brand new NIKON camera worth a Grand.

I needed replacement eyecups on my binoculars. After nearly 2 weeks I have been told after many phone calls, ordering them before 10 days ago, the order hadn't been placed and would be done again.
I e-mailed, phoned and had no reply to any e-mails and most phone calls were just cut off. To get though to pars I had to go via customer services (who never replied to e-mails I sent to them. I would never buy Nixon again with this appalling customer care/support.

So, I buy a Nikon Coolpix S6800 in March of 2015. Three months later the camera will not turn on at all, though the battery tests out on a multimeter as being fully charged. I send it off to Precision Camera, the "authorized warranty repair" shop. I hear absolutely nothing from them for three weeks - I sent it signature received so I know they got it. Then, just before leaving on our annual vacation, I receive the camera back in the mail. I'm thrilled, until I read the enclosed form. "The camera, it turns out, was not repaired at all due to "corrosion damage". Corrosion damage? This camera had never seen a raindrop, much less being dropped in any water. No other explanation, just "corrosion damage". I look inside the battery case.....no corrosion there. I look at the battery itself....no corrosion damage. Where in the world did they find this corrosion damage??? Is this some kind of stock answer Nikon uses when they don't want to repair a camera? Very shady, and now I have no camera for our vacation.

Hi Guys, Please don't buy NIKON camera products. They are just cheating by the name of International Warranty. They don't even take care of your complaints or issues after selling their products. Their products are waste products. I bought a DSLR camera (D5500) on 25/05/2015 and found that the lens had problem immediately after returning home. I complained them on 28/05/2015 for replacement of the lens, but they didn't taken care of my complaint till date (26/06/2015). They don't even bother to reply my email that I have written to their customer care. Please don't buy NIKON products. All these products are waster with no guarantee or warranty.

21 year loyal customer of Nikon. Today I had the worst customer experience of my life.

It was so disrespectful Ill sell all my Nikon gear, lick my wounds, and never interact with them again.

I didn't want to believe the rumors, but yes, their service is the worst in the industry and they could care less.

I hope they fail miserably as the disrespect shown to one who has spend the equivalent of a small home on their products is a true disgrace.

May they an iceberg at high speed. I'll photograph the sinking ship with a Canon or Sony.

I am in Portugal where there is no Nikon repair service, only an office that sends gear to Spain for repairing. I had no good references from spanish Nikon repair service so I decided to try Nikon UK. I have sent them a 12-24mm to repair focusing problems, and a 35mm just for regular check and cleaning service. After 3 weeks with no change in the online service satus (waiting for a technician), and already in delay, suddenly in 24 hours everything was done and ready for delivery. Result: the 35mm came back as dirty as it was before, although a rusty screw was replaced; the 12-24mm still has focusing problems (decentered elements?). A strange note was writen on the repair invoice document, regarding "parallax" issues. We are talking about a DSLR camera - there are no "parallax" issues on a DSLR camera. So I also asked them about this note.

I made a complaint over the Nikon UK website and they just do not answer. Complaint has been updated by me with test photos, and I get no answer for almost one month (it was supposed to be in 24 hours).

I am very disappointed with Nikon. I bought a camera (model coolpix L620) from them last September and I've had nothing but problems ever since! I sent the camera to one of their "repair" locations for it's defective use of batteries. The camera is burning through batteries after taking 5 pictures! The batteries are so dead the camera won't even turn on! Tech support told me (after waiting 35 minutes for a manager) the only thing they can do is issue a free shipping label to pay for shipping it back a second time to the same "repair" location. If they couldn't fix it the first time, I am not convinced they will be able to fix it the 2nd. For as inexpensive as these cameras are, the company should just make good on it and send me a replacement! I have lost several memories that I will never get back because of a defective camera! My suggestion is: if you are researching buying a camera, do not buy a Nikon!

I bought a CoolPix Nikon camera at Best Buy. The first one I bought wouldn't charge up. I exchanged it for another, the second camera started saying that it couldn't read the memory card. I thought the problem was the memory cards I was using, because I bought a new one and that one worked for a little while, but then it started with the message again. So I sent it to Luxtech for repair. I trusted that I would get my camera repaired, instead I got some super zoomed pictures of what was supposedly impact damage on my camera saying that it voided the warranty. I was so disappointed because I know the issue was not due to any banging of the camera or anything of the sort. The camera may have had that damage to begin with and I just never noticed it. But how could I argue with them, they were in possession of the camera that I innocently surrendered to them. Within minutes I received another email from them with pictures of someone else's camera with an excuse that theirs couldn't be repaired either because of the lcd screen being cracked. They sent me another email asking me to disregard the email they had sent me by mistake. I was disappointed for those people too because the screen was not cracked it was just externally scratched a bit. But it was good that I got to see how they do business with two different situations. I sent an email asking if I should speak to someone at Nikon to get some sort of reasonable response for the rejection of fixing my camera, but I never got a response. A few months later they tell me that they received my letter telling them to dispose of my camera. I never told them to dispose of the camera I just wanted to understand a little bit more of their procedure. Aside from that, it cost me $5 to mail them the camera, not to mention the two trips to Best Buy and wasted time, but they wanted to charge me $8 to send it back. What a scam! It was the first time I bought a Nikon product and it will be the last. The truth is that it is a mediocre product and worse customer service, aside from Mor Furniture. What a disappointment.

I waited on the support line over 45 minutes total today and no one answered. I bought a Nikon S5200coolpix May 2013, returned it for repair May 2014, I refused to pay for it. it was repaired at N/C. Now one year later may 2015 the same part broke the "ON/OFF SWITCH". Now what? Obviously a flaw here. I'm sick of it.

I had a problem with my D3100 camera (approx. 3yrs old). It would only focus in Guide mode. I took it to my local Nikon Authorized Camera Dealer who suggested I send it to Nikon Factory Repair and get an estimate for repair. After a few weeks I was informed that the estimate to fix my camera would be $198.00. I decided to use that money towards a new D3300 camera as $198.000 was more than the half cost of a D3100 body(only). I felt this was too short of a time for the camera to go bad but I chalked it up to bad luck. I bought the New D3300 camera less any lenses. With tax, an extended warranty, and a few add-on's it came to $600.00. I now own a broken D3100 and a working D3300.

I decided being as the D3100 was broken I would be willing to attempt a fix on my own and began a web search as to what might be needed to fix the D3100. After a few days of searching on and off, I did not see a good solution and gave it a rest. A few days later I resumed my search and found a solution. It was simply a menu item that needed to be changed. I followed the instructions and in a few moments the camera was working like new. At this point I felt that Nikon was not treating me fairly. I contacted their Melville, NY repair center by email and described my problem. I told them I felt that giving me an estimate of $198.00 to click a few menu buttons was certainly unfair. I got an Email back from Nikon customer support signed: Best Regards, Eric F. He provided a phone number for me to call and to ask for Eric F.. I called and spoke with him. He explained to me that that was Nikons policy. He explained that I should have called Nikon Technical Support and not taken the camera to my Camera dealer. I explained that they were an Authorized Nikon Dealer. He explained that I should in the future call Technical Support and not go to the camera dealer. I told him I understood what my future behavior should be but, I was concerned how Nikon Factory Repair handled the situation. I felt that after the technicians looked at the camera they should have known it was just 4 menu clicks to fix this and returned the camera with a minimal charge and or an explanation how I could fix the menu settings. Eric F. explained unless I accepted the estimate the technicians could not open the camera. I explained that they didn't have to open the camera only turn it on to see the problem and they should have enough experience to see if they could set the menu correctly. He informed me if I didn't accept the estimate they didn't have permission to open the camera. I explained that they could have contacted me and asked permission. (My phone number was on the repair order from the camera store.) He told me that the policy was they couldn't do anything unless I agreed to the estimate which gave them permission. I suggested that they add that to repair tickets that customers could give permission to look at the camera. I explained that I do repairs and never give an estimate without looking at the machine first and turning it on to see the problem that that is described to me. Eric F. explained the policy (again) and told me in the future I should contact Technical Support. I explained that he had already made me aware of the future procedures but I was concerned with what had happened.

So in the end Eric F. did not budge (which I must assume is company policy) and this is what I understand from Nikon Factory Repair and you should too. They will give you an estimate without looking at the camera. If you agree they go ahead and fix the problem. If you don't agree they don't fix it - In fact they don't look at it they just go by your description of what is wrong. So they don't know if it is a computer part, a mechanical part, or a menu change and they give you an estimate for - take it or leave it - make up your mind. I would have thought an estimate would have some integrity behind it so I would be making an informed decision. Silly me!

Horrible post service. I'm waiting (hungary) to repair my Nikon d300S, which I use professionaly for already 4 weeks and still not got a piece to fix it.

The only reason I cant change to Canon is that it will be too costly, but my advice for any readers.....GO TO CANON!!

Bought a Nikon lens from an authorized Nikon Dealer years ago. Lens has never been misused or show any signs of damage. Upon trying to use it I found it did not work. I sent it to Nikon, Nikon asked for proof of purchase original bill of sale, photos of box, bar code etc. Sent everything they requested. Nikon informs me the item I purchased is a Grey market item despite it being sold at an authorized Nikon store. I informed Nikon I did know what a grey market item was and that I did not want warranty service and was prepared to pay for the repair. I was informed they would not repair item under any condition. Why does Nikon import items to the U.S. sell them to uninformed customers only for the customer to find out when the item needs repair that the item can/t be repaired and essentially the individual bought a very expensive worthless paper weight. Despite being professional during the calls and correspondence Nikon couldn't care less. Not the way for a leader in any industry to act. Learn from my experience, make sure it is U.S. and don't rely on Nikon for anything. I found out once the money changes hands you are are on your own. I would check the other companies and compare customer feedback. Despite liking and using their products for years this has opening my eyes and left a very bitter taste in my mouth.

Hi Just purchased a Nikon D3300 yesterday Jan23 2015 from an authorised shop at Hong Kong International airport Now at home in Canada Charged the battery and I find out the view screen and set up menu does not work. Upon calling Nikon they tell me I will have to pay to have it repaired. I am appalled That they have not offered me a replacement. They even suggested that I bought from a gray market. I suggest they close the shop at HKG International Airport if they believe they sell gray market products. Any other people with this type of issue

My D750 got recalled and Nikon offers to get it fixed. However, the shipping method was super slow, and exceeded expected time of service. It took 5 weeks in total to get it fixed.
When called to inquiry, they don't have professionals to answer the call and the person on the other end was kind of rude (I think).
Super disappointed with Nikon.

Service was denied as scratches on a corner of the camera's case, near where the lanyard is secured, was indicated as being involved in a "significant event damage". The camera is always used with a neck strap, so the corner where it was supposedly damaged would always be near my neck! Guess I fell on my head, and couldn't get up... after receiving it back, the area where they claim the damage was sustained doesn't appear to be as severe as the photo they supplied me to deny my claim. Should call the company George Orwell - Nikon has become a charter member of the throw it away society!!

After only seven months use my Nikon D3100 camera developed a fault which resulted in unsharp photographs. I returned the camera to Nikon UK three times over the next three months. Nikon UK service said that the fault was due to my not understanding the autofocus settings, whereas the truth was I had sent them many sample images taken with MANUAL FOCUS. If you buy a Nikon camera in the UK you need to be aware that their UK Service Support is absolute rubbish

Nikon,
I can tell from your website that you are a giant corporation and probably won't care about one complaint from one customer, but here it goes:
If you have decided, and you have, to run commercials with a gay family of two men and two kids, than I am no longer a customer of yours and I hope your target group can support your products. I have many of your products from small cameras to large ones. Rifle scopes and binoculars. I not only will quit buying these products, but will get rid of the ones I have. There are many other fine camera and outdoor products to choose from. I have just always chose your products because I thought I had a quality product. However if you have made your choice on the decline of family values and to promote another style, so be it and good bye to you and your products and whomever I may be able to tell about the path you have decided to support.

I purchased a Nikon L30 on Oct. 15th. It froze and quit working on Nov. 15. I used it for one month. I contacted Nikon who gave me instructions to ship it in to Precision Camera, an authorized customer repair unit. Precision kept it for 10 days, never once contacting me about the status, and sent it back unrepaired, declaring that it was corroded. I am still in shock. I used the camera for one month.....batteries were used for one month...and it is supposedly corroded. I called Nikon to report this quandary. they will do nothing but give me another address of another place to send it. I have already spent fifteen dollars to ship it the first time. Mind you, this camera is clearly under warranty. Obviously, it is not going to be replaced, nor will the store exchange it, because they say this is Nikon's issue. I was also told that if I take it to a camera shop in my area and they repair it, I will not be reimbursed. I tried to talk with someone at Precision on several occasions, and their operator nor their customer service will pick up the phone. Bottom line is that I have a one month old Nikon camera that will not work. I am out a hundred dollars when I add the cost of shipping it to Precision. This same ordeal happened to my son and he had a $2,000.00 camera!! No more Nikon for us! I will be report this bad business on Facebook, Angie's List, and filing a formal complaint with the BBB shortly.

Last year, I dropped my 24-70/2.8G lens from my camera bag to ground. I found the focus ring got stiff, and the picture of left side was unfocus. I shipped the lens to Nikon USA Service Center. It cost 600 dollars and fixed on this late spring. Since I use Zeiss manual lens, I did not use this one often.

Until month ago, I brought this lens outside. The environment was about 20F, I found the lens didn't focus and the lens motor made noise. However, the lens works normal at room temperature. I shipped back to the stupid service center. They said it had minor damage inside, and want to charge me 640 dollar to get fix. OMG, I even haven't used the lens for long time, how can I damage the lens?

I have no way to solve the problem: they have only 30 warranty after the fix. I complained with the stuff and manager, but they did not agree to give a free fix and only reduced the price to 480 dollar. I really hate the Service Center. I do like to break the lens into pieces.

Why the lens works well at room temperature, but not in cold weather? I am sure that they didn't fix the lens well at the first time.

What can I do and any suggestions?

Thanks ahead.
