Placed an order for a used lens on the Nikon store, they never shipped it. Called customer service, they seem lost as to find out the status of my order. 24 hrs are required to get an answer, that will not have any useful information most likely. NIkon store sucks. Better service at Walmart at this point.

I have been a Nikon camera fan for over 15 years until today. I bought a Nikon S3500 Coolpix a few months ago. I have owned many Nikon cameras and have never had a problem with any of them. This one was used to take just a few pictures in June, and it worked fine. In August we tried to use it to video an ice bucket challenge and the moment wasn't captured because it said battery exhausted. We charged the camera with the components sent with the camera, but no luck. The camera won't work properly. I called them because it has a one year warranty. They want me to pay for the shipping costs when it is a manufacturer's defect. After reading all of these negative comments I don't think I will bother dealing with them. It appears that customer service is not their top priority. Let's see where that philosophy gets them. What a shame, we had a good run Nikon. I talk to a lot of people for a living. I guess I will have to pass along that Nikon doesn't care about its customers. Before long they won't have any left.

My DSLR camera under warranty was sent for repair. 5 months already past but still waiting for the replacement parts.

Nikon does not test non nikon lenses with their cameras. Very short sighted for those of us who cannot afford the best glass, but still love the nikon body.

Hi my name is Don K this is just a comment about the D700 recently I went to trade it in for the D750, but I just could not part with selling this wonderful old camera She (D700) came back home, put in her camera bag that she belonged, this is just such a good camera that I just could not trade Her in. I will be upgrading in the near future for the D750 or D810 when the funds are available, and My Old Girl (D700) will be my always reliable soon to be Back Up,I can only hope that my Experience with the newer model D750 performs as well as the D700, that is one Hell of a Good camera, I posted this story on the Ugly Hedge Hog camera site, under Valli Pride, today I received a lot of Comments that were nice, I have been a Nikon shooter for over 25 years and always will be thank you for some Wonderful Cameras and Adventures, Sincerely Don K, westchester NY. .

Our Nikon coolpix L24 camera has a broken battery cover. Thousands of similar cases exist, yet Nikon will not take responsibility, or even sell replacement parts. Plenty of vendors on Ebay and AliExpress sell the part, but Nikon is asking for the whole camera to be sent for evaluation, an unnecessarily expensive and long process.

Hello
I have had a set of Nikon Binoculars that supposedly were under warranty.
When I sent them in to have an item repaired
they looked at them, and stated that I damaged them and therefore were not covered.
Sounds like their typical response.
In the future I will know what not to buy

anything that says NIKON, their warranty does not exist, do not try to get any satisfaction from them.
Their standard response, I am sorry, I cannot help you.

when i spoke to a supervisor, thye had the same canned response- I am sorry, I cannot help you.

Owned a Nikon Coolpix 8800 for two years and It stopped working. sent it in and $125 plus shipping later they fixed it. Another year went by and the same thing happened. Another $125 plus shipping. Eighteen months later same thing, but when I called them they said it was most likely the battery and sold me a new battery. the camera still did not work. So I sent it in again. Now they said it was too old and could not be repaired. I bought a new battery with the last failure at their suggestion. $75 and they said they could not take it back because there is NO WARRANTY on batteries.
Will NEVER buy Nikon again and will advise other not to either.

I first bought a Nikon D7000 followed by the D800E, I also bought, at the same time as the D7000, the latest gold strips – 24-70 2.8G and the 70-200mm 2.8G, of and the 50mm 1.4G… I have spent countless hours trying to get my auto focus tweeked with fine tune on both bodies… I’m absolutely pissed at the autofocus issues when wide open, granted there are tolerance requirements.. but Nikon could provide automated utilities to adjust using fine tune… or better still, fully automate the calibration of the bodies and the lens. my problem is I left it too late… these products are not fit for purpose… NIKON YOU NEED TO WAKE UP…!!! why should I have to spend more money getting the service centre to look into the problem and fix it… when, in essence the products I’ve purchased should work seamlessly together. Nikon should fix the auto focus issues without further charging their customers… if I could I would ditch NIKON… their customer service is questionable…

I bought a Nikon DSLR last Christmas. I should point out I am a professional photographer and have used Nikons for over 35 years. The camera was bought for a specific purpose and was not used at first other than to remove it from its box and take a couple of shots to check it. Then a trip to Portugal and use it as a back up to get used to it. Returning i discovered on enlarging the images they were not sharp ! a few weeks of tests and contact with Nikon several times eventually the camera was sent back. Now it has been repaired 3 times ! Over several months. Each time it comes back after 3 weeks away. It is immediately unusable ! Much worse than before ! Now after so many times and I demanded a replacement. even wrote to the MD ( has has not replied ) The service is terrible and often emails are simply not answered or when they are it can be several days. finally after threat of claiming compensation for all my time and effort, they say they are willing to offer me a ' graded replacement ' I am now still waiting for an answer to my question ' what is a graded replacement ' ? Looking at the internet i see that all around the world people seem to be having similar problems. So beware ! I will let you know what happens. Meanwhile the engineered rig I manufactured to do movies with this camera still remains unused after 10 months. Nikon had one of the best reputations for reliability and service. If this carries on they will lose more than their reputation.

I bought a camera in December 2013. The camera sat in the box un-used un-open for about 5 months cause I did not know how to use it and did not want to learn..finally I did. In less than 5 months after that the camera does not work properly. When calling nikon, I have to mail the camera in at my expense. If they "decide" it is something I have done then I have to pay for it all. even though It was well taken care of. This is bull! They do not stand by their product!

Thank you for submitting your camera for service. Unfortunately, the status of your camera is Beyond Economical Repair.

What this means is that once the technicians took a look at your camera, they found that there were too many parts damaged on the camera for the camera to be economically repairable.

If you would like us to send the camera back the UPS Ground shipping cost is $7.50. We apologize for this inconvenience.

For the latest products available please go the following link: http://www.nikonusa.com

Dear Luxtech - Nikon representative,

The email you sent was very disappointing. I had always held Nikon in high regard and expected much more from this company.

The camera that you say is beyond economical repair never worked at all. It was purchased as a Christmas present for our daughter so she could use it while studying at VIERS in the Virgin Islands. What a great opportunity for her. Imagine the disappointment when the camera she had never worked. Once she returned from her studies she sent the camera back to me. We followed the directions that came with camera, paid our $14 in shipping costs and sent it in for repair/replacement. Imagine our shock when the package was returned because the address that came with the camera was no good. I then got on line and went through the website, filled out the forms and paid another $14 to ship it again. All of that and now I receive this email.

After searching the internet for reviews about this camera, other Coolpix models and Nikon as a corporation I never would have purchased a NIkon after what I read. Your company should be embarrassed by the fact the Better Business Bureau gives your company an F. Given the customer service I have received for this camera I totally understand the rating.

So for $7.50 I can have my camera that has never worker returned to me. That comes with only an email stating there are too many damaged parts. Very interesting. Please do return my camera to me along with a detailed list of the damages found. I did take notes and pictures of the camera when I sent it in. I will have another company review the damages that you have listed and inspect the camera as well. Then we can compare notes.

I understand that Nikon is a huge corporation and my business doesn't mean a thing to them. I guess I just want someone within the corporation to understand that they are losing not just my business but every person I talk to about purchasing anything your organization makes. Then they tell 2 or 3 people and they tell 2 or 3.......I hope it's similar to the butterfly effect.

An ex Nikon fan,

Hello,

Underwater cameras undergo a pressure test to see if the damages on the camera are manufacture defect or not. We use a pressure test machine from Nikon that test the waterproof seal of your camera. If the machine indicates there are no leaks during the pressure test, we must determine that it was not a Nikon manufacture defect to the camera that caused the leak and subsequent damage during its use.

In other words If they fail the pressure test, then the damages on the camera are a manufacture defect. If the camera passes the pressure test, then the damages on the camera are not a manufacture defect. Unfortunately, your camera did pass the pressure test and is not covered under warranty.

Because we are a Nikon Authorized Repair Center, we must follow the terms and conditions in order to honor Nikonâ??s manufacture warranty.

We will go ahead and send you a payment reminder for the amount of 7.50 so we can ship the camera back to you.

I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused. If you have any further questions please donâ??t hesitate to ask.

Luxtech Repair

Luxtech Repair,

I guess you are telling me that the only way this camera can be defective is if the seal fails? IT NEVER TOOK A PICTURE IN WATER OR OUT! If you only did the pressure test then how do you know there was damage beyond economical repair? What was done to determine that? What did you find?

Is there someone at Nikon I can complain to? This is so very wrong, it's pitiful. No wonder Nikon sales are diminishing.

Hello,

The pressure test is what determines if the damage to the camera was a manufacture defect or not. This test is used to determine warranty status on water cameras. As we noted in previous emails, your camera did pass the pressure test which was what determined that the damages on the camera were not a manufacture defect.

The technicians did take a look at the camera and what deemed it to be beyond economical repair was when they determined how many parts were needed to repair the camera. For your camera, the technicians determined that the parts that needed to be replaced were the lens, main, lcd, usb, and chassis. All of these parts were damaged due to water damage. I will go ahead and attach photographs of the damage for your convenience.

Luxtech Repair,

I apologize for the late reply but I've been a bit busy.

This camera and your emails concerning it continue to amaze me. The pressure test you performed indicated that the seals were in tact and therefore not a manufacturer defect. I guess I don't understand the job the seal performs. It seems to me that this would be the same seal that would keep water from infiltrating the camera and damaging the internals. Going along that train of thought, the test you performed proves that the seal was not defected therefore couldn't have allowed water to infiltrate the camera. But you show pictures that indicate that the internal of the camera did in fact get wet and that caused the damage. So how did this water get into the camera? The seals are good. Are you suggesting that someone took this camera apart in the presence of salt water and allowed the internals to get wet then re-assemble the camera and present a claim for faulty goods? How about the seal failed, which caused the camera to fail. The infiltration of the salt water and the corrosion it caused made enough of a seal to pass your pressure test.

Look at the facts in front of you. Can you honestly say the seal was good and the water just appeared inside the camera?

Looking forward to your reply

I wonder is Nikon put SWM in the lenses just to make profit out of repair? it's nearly half of the price of the lens. RIDICULOUS!! I think I'm going to consider other brand of lenses instead of Nikon so-called "SWM" lenses.

I have never dealt with a company like this over a repair. Would never buy another Nikon product after owning 4 nikon cameras.
Sent in a six month old J1 because it just wouldn't turn on - no damage was done to it. They send an email that the estimate to fix it would be $280. but they don't know what's wrong. I have never heard so much jargon in my life. Then they drop the price to $180 however once they start on the repair they could find more problems and could cost more. But they still have no clue what they are repairing. I just can't understand how any company operates this way. I am so frustrated. My daughter loves her camera and I can't afford $200 to fix it and it could cost more. Not only that but once they do repairs there is no guarantee something else won't go wrong with it. What a joke. Would never recommend dealing with this company.

Transcript of Nikon's terrible support on barrel distortion firmware.

Melina Becker: How can I help you?
Pierre Lud: When exactly will the Nikkor 18 -140 mm barrel distortion firmware be available to upload to Nikon camaras? I see every one is asking this on the internet and I want to know what is Nikons commitment in this regards.
Melina Becker: It is true that we receive questions about a distortion correction firmware.
Melina Becker: I can assure you that we forwarded these ideas as improvement suggestions to the appropriate Nikon departement.
Pierre Lud: And what is the outcome?
Melina Becker: I hope you understand that we are not involved in making those decisions of the department for design and developement.
Melina Becker: This is why we can of course forward your ideas so that they will be considered as improvements.
Melina Becker: But unfortunately we won't receive any updates about wether your ideas will be implemented or not.
Pierre Lud: Pardon me Melina, I don't know why you would think you are involved in making those decisions of the department for design and developement. What you are is the interface between a Nikon customer (me) and Nikon - the person that pass on the messages so to speak. Therefore I, as Nikon customer, insist that you escalte this to your manager and he/she escalte this to the appropiate department or whatever and give me the Nikon customer a proper answer. Melina you can make the difference today, believe me.
Melina Becker: I totally agree with you that I am the direct communication partner for you with Nikon.
Melina Becker: This is why I will book your question as an improvement/product suggestion as I did with the same question of customers before you.
Melina Becker: The departement for design and developement will consider your suggestions.
Melina Becker: But because the decision is up to this specific departement I hope you understand that I cannot assure you that there will definately be a distortion correction firmware.
Melina Becker: I am telling you this so you know how important your ideas are for Nikon.
But I think it is also important for you to know what we can do for you and what we just cannot promise from the technical customer support.
Pierre Lud: That is all good to know, but I want my question answered now : When exactly will the Nikkor 18 -140 mm barrel distortion firmware be available to upload to Nikon camaras?
Melina Becker: We don't know if there will be a firmware.
Melina Becker: And if there will be one we don't know when.
Pierre Lud: please find out from your departement for design and developement now.
Melina Becker: These information are confidential.
Melina Becker: I'm sorry but there is no other answer to your question.
Pierre Lud: Oh, now it's confidential. I own the lens. This is nonsence. I want to speak to your manager now.
Melina Becker: As told you in the first place, we won't receive any updates from the department for design and developement.
This means that they keep those information confidential.
Pierre Lud: Can I please speak to your manager now?
Melina Becker: This is not possible becaue my manager is saying the exact same.
Melina Becker: I can forward a complaint for you.
Melina Becker: Please let me know if you want a product suggestion or a complaint.
Melina Becker: Or is there anything else I can help you with?
Pierre Lud: Melina get your manager online please.
Melina Becker: That won't happen.
Pierre Lud: What?
Melina Becker: My manager agrees with everything I told you.
Melina Becker: This is all we can do for you.
Pierre Lud: You really suck, and therefore Nikon supprt sucks! And the manager is useless. What must customers do with this? I posting this discussion online on all camara forums and see if Nikon wakes up to supporting their customers beter.
Melina Becker: I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way.
Pierre Lud: Why are you sorry?
Melina Becker: As I said before, I will forward your suggestion to the relevant departement but cannot guarantee that your idea will be implemented.
Pierre Lud: You caused this feeling.
Pierre Lud: and your action is not good enough
Pierre Lud: it did not work for the hunderd that you did the same thing before me : I will forward your suggestion to the relevant departement but cannot guarantee that your idea will be implemented.

I like to warn potential buyers of NIKON binoculars as they are inherent fragile. I has a failure beyond repair as e result of a fall from approx 0.7 m. Only 3 years old and no coulance from NIKON service, extreme poor perfromance.
The binocular is type Monarch 10.5 x 45.
The NIKON service seems a well organised process with no room for client contact about repair options.

I am not sure if I have ever had such appalling customer service from any organisation. They had a 70-200mm 2.8 lens to repair due to excessive vignetting. Lens returned with (in my view) worse vignetting and a substantial cost to me. I returned the lens to the camera shop who returned it to Nikon. They have now had it for the best part of 6/7/ weeks. Transpires that they did some work to the VR system (without my authority).

Suggested they might be able to send me a loan lens - then said they couldn't almost immediately.

Said they would get a technician to call me - who didn't (or at least hasn't yet).

Told me that they can't send me the test images (company policy) when in fact they have already sent them to me on an Excel spreadsheet - all I asked was to have them as jpegs....

Totally and utterly useless.

"Nikon Customer Service" is an oxymoron. Outside of complete DOA items, once you buy a Nikon product it's yours so matter how poorly it performs. They won't even let you send something back for evaluation until you've satisfied what appear to be ever-changing and capricious requirements. I have a brand new Nikon D7100 camera that can't take a sharp picture no matter what I try. And, I'm no rookie photog. Nikon Customer Service is putting me through the wringer with repeated requests for sample pictures, more info, blah, blah, blah, and after each response I send I wait days - or even weeks - to get yet another request from them. It's obvious they're just hoping I give up. I'll never buy another Nikon product. Ever.

Address..

Sean Pio Medina- General Manager ( Not the one that waited on me)

I got a Nikon Coolpix L820 Camera from Best Buy at Christmas from my

brother.. I didn't use it right away.. Had waited a couple months...

Found out the focus was off and photos turning out bad... So I went to

get it exchanged and they exchanged it for me with no problem... I just

had to get a L830, cause L820 discontinued... That was in March...

I started using my New one 2 weeks ago, (Because I was sick and in the

hospital for a while , I been trying to get my strength back) ,and I

noticed the flash doesnt work, The Pictures were turning white, and some

pictures turning all yellow and the photos flip without me doing it when

I shoot them......

So today April 23,I go to get it replaced... I talked to customer

service, who then called 2 ladies from Cameras over to look at it...

They preceeded to hear what I was saying.. I showed them photos of what

it was doing and they preceeded to tell me, the flash doesnt work, it

seemed the I S O is missed up...

So then they call the manager over that was on duty for today, and he

asked them what they thought.. They proceeded to tell him that the flash

didn't work, that the I S O seemed to have a problem, and that the lens

was loose...

He then looks at me and says did you get the Best buy service insurance?

I said I think my brother probably did.. He looks at the papres and

goes," I don't see it, so you will have to send it off to get fixed".. I

said "I had bad exsperences with that and exsplained the 5 disc stereo

that came back 3 times and doesnt work to this dy.. A Cool pix camera I

sent off that came back 4 times and still doesnt work.. That They didn't

replace any of those.

This is a 199.00 Camera, I can't afford to send it off and it doesn't

work.... :'(

I said I know its the managers discrision to exchange it or not, He just

said, " we will send it off to get fixed".. he then just walked off.

:'( I was crying by the time I left.. Imbarassed and upset... I still

can't get over that..

If you have a business that sales your product, shouldn't they stand behind it also?

Please can you help me get a replacement?

Pictures are what I do... Im disabled and that all I have as a hobby...

Thank you for anything you can do for me...

Have a blessed day, and thank you for taking the time to read this!!

Had a very unpleasant experience purchasing from the Nikon store the other day...placed an order for a d610, only to get an email the next day that my order was cancelled. Apparently, they are out of stock...um, don't you think its a good idea to update your customers that an item is out of stock before they decide to drop a grand on your camera? Disappointing. The email did not even say why my order was actually cancelled!! So I had to call to figure out what was going on...the customer support was unpleasant, to both my husband and I (who had to call again later)...its is unfortunate that a company who's products I support does not put effort towards providing their customers better service. They should have a survey of some sort, or something, where I can actually voice this to them...not on a separate website. Despicable.

Posted by asoka

They trashed an d7100 new and an nikon 17-55 2.8 and refuse to even repair them...whorst service ever.
