I purchased the Archos 5 directly from Archos. I've had it for about a year. Recently, the battery started losing its ability to hold a charge. I've been trying to get a response from Archos (through their website) for service. Archos makes it VERY DIFFICULT TO GET SERVICE on any of their products. They've refused to respond to my inquiries, despite providing them everything they request on their site.

From my point of view, their products are good, but, their customer service is HORRIBLE. That said, I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEIR PRODUCTS.

Purchased 2.8 tablet, led was defective, received a pre-athorization for warranty repair. Sent the unit per their instructions, once they have the unit, they tell me it isn't covered and will cost about the same that I paid to buy it to repair it!!! I told them I was already approved for repair under warranty, even forwarded the email They sent me. Now they will not respond to my emails. That is so unethical to have you send in the product approved for repair and then try to get money now that they have it. I do not recommend buying anything from Archos. There are negative complaints about repairs and customer service all over the internet. I hope somebody benefits from my loss.

I purchased an Archos 7.0 and had problems with the headphone outlet. I contacted Archos and was told it was covered by warranty and they said that if I sent in the unit (I rec'd an RMA) it would take 2 weeks to turn around and I would have a replacement unit. I waited a month and called them. The first person said he could not tell the status and he would have someone call me back, No call back so 3 days later I called back again. They said they had no replacement units and were waiting for "Corporate" to send them more. I told them I was leaving on a trip in 7 days and needed the unit back before then and they had already had it over a month. The rep, Ron said someone would call me back... no call back again! I called the next day early to try and catch someone who could make a managerial decision. I was told by the representative Michael that manager Bob B. would call me back within 3 hours... I waited 5 hours. No one call back so I called again. I was once again told they had no product to ship so I asked to have my originalunit shipped back which they could not do so I offered to pay to upgrade the unit or have them ship out any unit thety had in stock as I needed to unit for communications on my travels. I asked to speak to the manager and was told the only one was John, the warehouse manager. I was put on hold for 30 minutes only to have the call dropt after 1 hour... yes 1 hour! I called straight back and am now waiting in a loop listening to "Your call is very important to us. Please wait for the next available representitive" for 28 minutes and counting so far while I type this... What a joke! Who know how long I will be in this loop!

broke led on my archos 101g9, called uk helpline to ask if they could send a replacement which i would pay for. answer from the guy on the phone, please email your query to technical services. they answered with...Unfortunately Archos do not offer replacement parts or repair services. email archos france as they are the one who have the archos factories, never got an answer...

I bought Archos 101 Android G9 tablet in 2010. I have sent the tablet back to Archos to repair USB host problem 3 times and everytime I got the tablet back, the USB host problem did not get resolved. Everytime I sent the unit back, I can't use it for the whole month (ship it back to them + repair time + ship back to me). Technical support had no clue how to fix the problem. Customer service would not give me expedite shipment of the return unit. When I asked for a refund, they gave me the notion that they don't have this option. This is the worst company I ever dealt with. I WILL NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE COMPANY AGAIN, EVER.

I ordered a Gen8 101 tablet in October 2010; it was finally delivered in January 2011. Despite adverts that promised Flash support, this did not become available until March 2011. Speaker broke in December 2011; product returned to Archos. They promise a 10-day turn-around - there are no repairs it is either a replace or voucher towards new product. 3 weeks later and there is no word from them. You can't contact them via their web page as you need to enter the product serial number, and they only allow 1 communication at a time, therefore until they close the speaker issue, they won't take questions about how long it will take to deal with. Asked a question via their Facebook page and they deleted it.

I got the 80 G9 as a gift for Xmas. I set up the tablet and upgraded the firmware as recommended (this solved the problem with the camera not working). It worked alright although there was some bubbling on the display if pressure was applied to the back of the unit when holding it. Everyting worked fine, until I tried to charge the unit. Then I discovered that the battery would not take a charge.

I then called Archos and arranged to send the unit into them. They sent me shipping instructions, but informed me that I had to pay for shipping, insurance, and packaging materials. They also told me that their product box was not suitable for shipping the tablet (which is odd, since that is what it was shipped to me in). Archos would not reemburse me for postage. This was surprising, since the tablet has a manufacturer's defect out of the box.

It appears you roll the dice when buying this tablet. It works as expected, but there are problems with quality control and customer service at Archos.

UPDATE:

After Archos received the tablet, they reniged on their offer to replace it with a NEW unit, and were instructed to send it back to me so I could return it to the retailer for a full refund. They said they would send it back, but nothing was done and no tracking information was sent to me. I am still waiting for their response/action. Archos has been horrible in terms of replying to their email notification system, and the only way to reach them is to call the company on the one working phone number embedded in their website (most of the phone numbers are disconnected). What a sham. I also checked their RMA location's BBB rating. It is and "F". Archos has the worst customer service and customer relations team of any electronics company I have dealt with. Avoid this company at all costs.

A few days later Archos denied ever agreeing to mail the tablet back to me. Apparently they have lost my tablet and are scrambling to replace it. But, the problem is, the company has no tablets built or in stock. Total Fraud! They also refuse to respond to my emails in writing, document any promised resolutions to my issues in writing, or respond to my BBB compalint! Archos should be put out of business.

I write regarding Archos' sole distrubutor for accessories - New MP3 Technology.

Avoid this distributor like the plague! The delivery service is truly awful and well documented on the internet for being this way.

I ordered a keyboard from them on 12th December. It is now 21st December and still no sign of my product being delivered and they cannot track where it is? They claim that it was shipped on 14th December, I do not believe this. Order goods from this company at your own peril!

This company makes me want to buy a product that I have to ship to Korea for repairs (i.e. Samsung). At least I know I'll be able to get support and not be charged 2/3rds of the total product price to replace a resistive touch screen (i.e. the cheapest possible option of all touch screens).
Seriously folks, unless you want to deal with lousy customer service, no aftermarket products available, and an endless variety of hassles, shop elsewhere.

I just send my third email and I am still awaiting for RMA so I can return my archos 250. if they do not reply I will file a complaint with BBS and any other government agency that I can find. After this matter settles I will never any of their product, is not worth the aggravation.

I recently purchased the Archos 80 G 9 what a nightmare it has been to get in touch with their customer service. It has been so BAD i have returned the product.They advertise it as been able to watch and play movies but they refuse to tell you how you can watch and download these movies. " I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND BUYING AN ARCHOS 80 G9".CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT IN THEIR VOCABULARY.

Just send my 3rd!!!! e-mail as they have not respond on the 2 previous one. I wonder I used to be a fan of Archos but this starts to ween tremendously I think I just might return my device and buy a device of a more reputable brand. Really really horrible!

They do not respond very well, if at all.
I have tried on several occasions to obtain support regarding SAMBA on the Archos 32 Internet Tablet.
On each occasion I have been told the same response, to check no password is set on the SMB Shares, despite clearly stating this is not the case in the original support question.

Placed an order and within a couple of hours wanted to cancel the order. Denied the ability to cancel order. Poor phone response system. This company can give a program as how to alienate a customer.

I bought a 705 WIFI from Ritz Camera a couple months ago. Charged it and found battery life on the charge was 10 minutes. Complained to Archos for battery replacement. They told me because product was discontinued, they can only offer 20% off next product with the return of the current product. That would put me out $300. You would think that since an authorize seller of Archos sold a discontinued unit, Archos would still honor it's warranty. Not in this case, customer service was almost non existent, and they refuse to reply to my request on a new battery. Bought an aftermarket battery for $36 with an extended life. I told the battery company they should compete with Archos, as it shouldn't be that hard to take their unsatisfied customers.

i bought a archos in january 2010 it went of in march and it as taken until december to get it back to pixmania (i have been sent from them to you. you to them)i purchased an extended 3 year warranty the archos will not turn on and i am now being told it is not covered. what has to be wrong with it to be covered. what a joke it is

I purchased two Archos 9 Windows based Tablets that were advertised as having specs that would be average to better then average (for a computer) performance. No means being gaming systems, but perfectly capable to handle fundamental functions like Word and iTunes. However to my extreme disappointment The products are (in my opinion) were badly designed in respect to the touch pad capabilities. On top of this, one of the tablets had a problem with the screen and, though the tablet was on, and sound was emitted, the screen was black. The other tablet was Functioning, though extremely slow. Without exaggeration, any basic function whether it would be to open a document or a folder would take 2 mins to process. I would have to set down the tablet, walk away, and return for anything to be complete.
Archos seemed very compliant about taking the two tablets back in order to exchange for new tablets since it was within 30 days of purchase. At this point it wasn't even two weeks. They kindly explained to me that a refund or swapping for a different model would not be options within the warranty, but again they would switch them out for new tablets.
After getting RMAs started, sending them PoP and sending my tablets in, I followed up on the status only to learn that they would NOT be sending me new tablets, but rather refurbished items, supposedly with "new parts" or components, but a used case. I tried to explain that this was not what I agreed on, but out of trying to be fair I went with it only if I were able to get a list or manifest of the components switched out. They agreed to email me the information. Today, after not receiving any email, I called again only to get a rude customer service rep that was sarcastic and snide and raised her voice. After expressing that there was no need to get excited or raise voices she argued the fact and became indignant. I requested the email with a list of components that were switched out within the "refurbished" tablets, but she expressed that thats "not possible" and "no one has that information" I became frustrated and she responded "Okay, fine! Ill send you an email!" I asked if it will give the list im requesting and she again said that the information Im wanting is not an option, but that she will send me an email with a guarantee that they are new parts.
This was the email I got from the highest customer service manager they have:

"Products you received are new parts that are shipped without marketing material`s .

Needless to say, Im outraged at this lack of concern or care shown toward a customer who has already been having a bad experience. DO NOT BUY PRODUCTS FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

I will never do business with Archos directly again. I advise all of you to be very careful when entering your name and address on their website because if it does not have all of the short abbreviations and the like that appears on your statement, it will decline your card as invalid. For example, if your statement says "DR" instead of "Drive" on the address line, put DR. Furthermore, the site does not allow going back to edit an address after attempting to check out. After calling Archos 4 times, with one of them resulting in a hang up, they refused to contact my creditor to explain that they will not run the transaction. Now I have $288.99 caught in limbo on my credit line and I may have to wait 30 days before that money falls off. Since these funds are in a pending area, they have yet to post to my account so I could dispute the charge. Basically, the Archos website is incredibly poor quality and their business is not that reputable. If they honored their customers they would actually work to have this issue resolved. Instead they left me high and dry. All in all I may purchase an Archos tablet elsewhere, but I will never attempt business with their webstore again.

Ordered the ARCHOS KEY, and paid $10.00 extra fpr 2-3 day shipping. Problem is, 6 days later, they purchased shipping and is still not picked up by UPS. Can not get a phone number to call a person.

now, do not get me wrong... I have never had trouble with a product. I love the products.

ABSOLUTELY AGREED!!!!!

I just bought Archos 7 Home Tablet in Singapore last two weeks ago, the products can be charged only one time after that can not be charged anymore means can not be used anymore.

No single reply for my several emails to customer support, I got only auto reply that i will get the reply within 2 working days (maybe 2 working days in heaven time).

MOST EXPENSIVE GADGET I EVER BOUGHT BECAUSE THE LIFETIME ONLY LESS THAN 5 WORKING DAYS (WORLD TIME NOT HEAVEN TIME).

I absolutely agree with everybody. Archos is a terrible company with a even worse customer support. No help at all! My archos got lost in the mail after they'd fixed it. Now Archos is pointing fingers at UPS and does not do anthing about it to solve it. I've paid usd 300 to get it fixed and now I have nothing. When can we as a customer do something about this?

New Archos broke in less than 1 month.After long process to return for repair,received a blem refurbished unit to replace my NEW unit. Complaints were ignored. The unit broke shortly after and into the trash it went. Never again will I buy Archos garbage.

I honestly don't know where to begin. This joke of a service department sent me to hell and back. It would take far to long to explain all the horror they put me through.

I have an Archos 605 160GB WiFi and all I wanted was a new battery installed which I paid for in advance $72.50.

After I paid the $72.50 they tried to charge me a second time and when they finally replaced the battery it came back with the screen and Bezel broken and the back deeply scored as with a utility knife. They blamed it on me or my courier, however, in their own RMA instructions it says that if the unit arrives damaged they will send it back unprepared which they did not, therefore they received it in good condition. They finally did repair it partially, new screen and bezel, they did not fix the back. It came totally loose in the box with bubble wrap laying on top. The internal speaker no longer works. I kept complained and now my emails are being rejected.

Don't ever buy any Archos product and if you are unlucky enough to own one and it needs service you would be better off to discard it and purchase something similar from their competitor.
