I
purchased a Hitachi 32" from Argos. After only 4 months it was deemed to be beyond repair - main panel had gone- Argos replaced TV same make same model. This model lasted for 13 months. Argos advised an independent survey of set (this would have cost me over £150 with no guarantee of repair. No joy when I contacted Hitachi, who assured me of their dedication to quality!! I would not have a Hitachi TV given. In my opinion they are RUBBISH!Anonymous 2/5/10 11:04AM

I have a Hitachi 55VS69 and have had it for 3yrs and 2 months. The bulb was replaced at 3 yrs. It now has a predominantly blue screen.
A technician from the place I bought it came out to assess the problem and told me the light engine had gone bad and that it would need to be replaced. He politely informed me that a refurbished engine would be about $550 if they could even find one and a new one would be about $650 again if they had any in stock, plus $300 to install it since the whole TV had to be dismantled.
So after spending @ $1700 for the TV barely over 3 yrs ago I now have to come up with almost a $1000 to repair it. I'm better off going out and buying a new TV, especially a brand that has a better repair track record. If I had wanted a disposable TV I would have bought a Vizio, LG or Insignia.
It really frosts my rear-end that Hitachi won't stand by a product that they know is defective. They are nothing more than a bunch of rip-off or scam artists.
Let me be clear when I say this: I WILL NEVER EVER BUY ANOTHER HITACHI PRODUCT. I don't care if it's the last product on earth, I will do without.SK 1/28/10 10:32AM

As a consumer I have only ever purchased Hitachi Tv's. I have over 40 years purchased 5 Tv's. The last 4 being large screens. My first large screen tv was a 46" screen with a 20 year warranty. Repaired in the 14th year and then I replaced it because it kept failing. The next 2 large screens gave me great service and never needed repair. Was only disappointed with the change to 1yr warranties. I just kept upgrading. Now the last tv which is a 60" is now in its third year and on its 3rd bulb. It has been a new bulb every year. My usage is probably low for most people, about 5 hours each day. Now the tv has developed a large yellow blob in the screen. The repair shop says light engine needs replacing. Still under an extended warranty and waiting for word on repair. This is my last Hitachi product. I have read many posts on the internet concerning this problem and the poor response from Hitachi. Apparently the old boys running the company are gone and the new blood taking their place did not carry on the ways of the old and so Hitachi is going to spiral into a slow death. Hitachi you were number one but now you number none.

My husband and I have a Hitachi TV that is less than 3 yrs old and has been invaded by the revenge of Sponge Bob- a huge yellow blob!! From the research I am seeing this is definitely a design flaw that went wrong. I think Hitachi planned this failure... I just dont think they expected it to be this bad. They were busted they design an expensive TV that would fail after a short period of time, but out of warranty. The consumer has to repair-- Hitachi makes even more money... what a scam!!I want my TV fixed and we are not going to pay for it.Im outraged that these companies sell these appliances and electronics and do not stand behind them. The blue blob is from the light engine going out. Good Luck I have had one replaced on them and now awaiting HHGreg to fix the second one that has gone out in less then a year. HHGreg has told me many things about this issue from they don't make them anymore to we have one on order. This dance has been going on for or three months now. They are trying anything they can so they don't have to stand by the extened warrenty that I bought that they suggested. Anonymous 10/5/09 4:37PM

I have had my Hitachi TV for 7 years and have had it worked on 3 times for the same problem. This last time, I tried to contact CS for some possible help. They refused to stand behind their product because it was not under warranty. They told me I should have bought the extended warranty. In my opinion, if you pay $2600.00 for a TV, you should not need an extended warranty. For $2600.00, that TV should be good for a long time. Long story short, same problem 3 times less that 20 months apart and Hitachi will not stand behind their product. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER HITACHI AND I WILL RECOMMEND THEM TO OTHER PEOPLE. We have owned a Hitachi TV for 3 years. Before the TV was even 1 year old there was a blue blob in the middle of our screen. Hitachi paid for the repair and it took FOREVER for it to get repaired. We waited for almost 3 months. Then less than a year after that problem was repaired another problem. Of course no help from Hitachi because apparently they only stand behind their product for the 1 year warranty. Less than one year after that (as of today) yet another problem. The same blue blob is back. Hitachi refuses to replace the TV because it is not under their warranty. We have owned this TV for 3 years and every year there is a problem with it that Hitachi takes no responsibility for. We will never own another Hitachi. Anonymous 9/14/09 7:08AM
