After 30 minutes on the line for a critical issue I just decided to hang up. Excruciatingly frustrating.

Salesforce's "master subscription agreement" contains a negative billing stipulation, that is, if you think you signed up for one year, you have actually signed up "indefinitely" unless you write to them at least 5 days before the expiry of your first paid term. Otherwise they do hold you liable for the next term whether or not you wanted it and will send bill collectors. This option is an illegal practice in some states and some provinces in Canada. The reminders they send seem like simple reminders and do not emphasize the conditions--in fact the emails are titled "Do not Pay" as though they are sending an innocent reminder and not actually billing your credit card without your acknowledgment.
