On 11/29/2012 I volunteered to take a later flight from Boston to Ft Lauderdale so another passenger could get to his destination on time (and in return I received a free round trip ticket). I was told my luggage would be on my original flight and they would hold it in the Spirit baggage claim department and all I had to do was go there and pick it up. My original flight, with my luggage, landed in Ft Lauderdale at 8:30 p.m. and I arrived on my later flight at 11:15 p.m. I immediately went to the baggage claim and IT WAS CLOSED! So I found a Spirit ticket agent and explained to her I volunteered to give my seat up and now I can’t get my luggage as it is closed. She told me to "come back the next day to claim it" - my response was a loud "NO I want it now, I did your airline a favor because YOU over booked and now you want me to drive back here tomorrow"? She informed me that there was nothing she could do for me as the baggage claim was locked and no one else could help me. I said “then YOU need to find a key to open the damn door and get my luggage, not a difficult solution!!” After a 20 minute wait she comes back to me and says she found the key, went to baggage claim but my luggage wasn’t there, I asked her if I could go with her to help her look again and she said I wasn’t allowed in baggage claim. Then she said “let me get my supervisor” After another 25 minute wait the supervisor comes out and looks at me and says “you wanted to talk to me” I said "NO I didn’t ask to talk to you, but I’m sure you’re aware of my problem and since you’re here what can you do to find my luggage"….she said "sorry there isn’t anything I can do, put a claim in tomorrow morning" - I thought I was going to punch her. Needless to say I told her what she could do with her “claim” and walked out of the airport, without my luggage! First thing in the morning I called Spirit corporate office and they (Sharon) immediately called me back, I told her how RUDE Ft Lauderdale airport Spirit employee’s were, she apologized and said she would call me back and she would find my luggage. She called me back within 45 minutes and said my luggage WAS in the baggage claims department. As I am writing this I just received a call (from Shawn at the airport baggage claim department) and THEY are delivering my luggage to me within the next 2 hours. Bottom line is Boston Spirit Airlines employee’s were very helpful, nice, polite and very accommodating - Ft Lauderdale Spirit Airlines employees are Rude - Uncaring - Lazy - Disrespectful and Ignorant, definitely NOT people I ever want to deal with again. They give Spirit a BAD name and if it wasn’t for the “free round trip ticket” I would NEVER book another flight. Now my FREE round trip will be my LAST trip on Spirit Airlines, all because of Ft Lauderdale Airport employee‘s. I do want to THANK Spirit Airline employees in Boston Logan Airport, Sharon in corporate office in Miramar and Shawn in Ft Lauderdale baggage claim department for all there help and support.

The rating below is for FLL airport employee experience only = a 1 Very Difficult - WORST

This is not the first time I have flown Spirit Airlines and as always the flight was on time, smooth take off and landing. Infact, I reached my destination a little early. I would highly recommend flying Spirit to my friends and family.

I can't find a way to contact spirit by email, but I had to post somewhere my appreciation for the gate attendants in Orlando Florida. We flew to Orlando from Atlantic City on Sunday, November 4, 2012. We didn't realize that while we were on the flight my seven year old left behind a Nintendo travel case with several hundred dollars worth of games and equipment. When we were heading back, this past Saturday, I asked at the Orlando gate if there was anyway to see if the bag had been turned in. The attendants called and checked for me. Someone from the company went through security and brought the bag up just before our flight took off. I am so very grateful for their help!!

TRY TO GO TO THE TICKET COUNTER, THEY ARE VERY FRIENDLY AND MORE ABLE TO HELP. THEY HELPED ME OUT WHEN I FOUND OUT MY PASSPORT WAS EXPIRED, HAD TO REBOOK TO PUERTO RICO. THE PHONE CONTACT IS USELESS!!!!!

Living near Atlantic City I could not think of using any airline other than Spiritair. After losing a voucher number in my computer I called Spirit's help line and spoke to Felicia. She was very pleasant and located the lost information.Any time I've needed assistance it has been handled very professionally,even when I wasn't. Thank you, C.O. Messec

I want to share the positive experiences we had on our vacation thanks to the crew on our flights to and from Dallas, TX and Las Vegas.
On our flight out, our flight crew was wonderful. They were perky and fun to be around. Another wonderful aspect was how they aided me and my family. I was traveling with an electric wheel chair, and they did all they could to make sure my boarding and disembarking from the plane went smoothly.
I was nervous about our flight based on reviews I had read, but was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and top notch service.
On our return flight, our excellent service started in the terminal. The terminal crew checked us in early, and noticed I was in a wheel chair. This started the wheels of care spinning. While checking us in, they noticed I was seated at the back of the plane, so it was arranged for me, my husband and younger son to move up to row 8 (all with out additional cost ), so I would not have to work my way down the isle. Also, attention was paid to the fact that my older son is 6 ft 2, and they moved him up to row 5 (with out additional cost). Once on the plane, the crew helped us to get situated. Assuring that everyone in the family was comfortable. After landing, they were patient and loving as we waited for my wheel chair to be brought up.
I am very happy with our Spirit experience, and will fly with them again. Also, I will recommend Spirit to my friends and travel companions.

Great airlines! I fly often, American, Delta & Southwest, in the future I will fly Spirit when possible. On 9/17 we flew from DFW to Las Vegas and returned to DFW on 9/20. From the ticket agent to the captan & everyone in between were very nice & attentive, the planes were clean & comfortable. Anybody considering fly on Spirit, ignore negative comments, less than 5% of passengers comment and most often expect more than what they paid for & people that have pleasant experiences rarely comment. I have had bad experiences on airlines I frequently use. Take a chance you will probably be very pleased.

I would like to tell you how wonderful the spirit airlines staff at Tampa Airport are.They have hepled me as a Disabled Veteran i along with my wife want you to know how thankful we are. From the ticket staff as well as the mangement could not be anymore helpful.That is why my wife and i have become Spirit card members and will only fly on your airlines.they should be recommemded for how great they truly are ./ this rating is for the staff at Tampa airport

Flew Spirit to myrtle beach and back Sept 8 to the 15Th. Both flights were very good and we would Fly Spirt again. I read reviews before we went and thought we made a mistake but all was very good. And much cheaper than United or the rest.

I'd like to publicly thank Krystal, flight attendant on Flight #775 from Portland to Las Vegas on yesterday 9/17/12. I became ill during the flight and she was most concerned and caring. Thank you for making a difficult trip better.

My faith in Spirit Airlines was renewed this evening when I was lucky to get such a nice customer service rep who handled everything to my complete satisfaction. It was a pleasure doing business with this company. A big thank you to Jesse, a wonderful and knowledgeable Spirit Air service rep.

Ignorance of the law is no excuse! Spirit is the best airline there is. I have saved thousands of dollars with Spirit. All you have to do is visit Spirit web site and become familiarized with their rules and you'll never have any problems.

I have used Spirit 3 times for round trips. I have had no problems. Planes have been clean, crew and airport staff have all been very friendly. Phone service has been great.

I am writing this recomendation of one of your employee by the name of Jose Velazquez #63547 FLL Base. On 05/30/2012 I was returning from Bogota Flight #400. This person or employee was very pleasant and very professional with the customers in this flight. I am very happy that you have such an employee that really knows how to treat customer. I would like to thank, Spirit for such a excellent employee. I am a regular customer for sprite.

Just returned from a weekend trip to see family near Chicago,Il. I was pleased with my ticket price. I complied with the free cary on size and placed my bag under the seat. I am 6'1" and found the space adequate.
The in flight personel were very thorough. I would not hesitate to fly spirit airline again.

I have to confront all the bad reviews on here, I believe most of them are true, some are very exaggerated. Yes, they charge for carry on, checked bags, food and drinks, seat assignment, however...its all optional.
I've been flying with them regularly couple times a month for a few years, the delay rate is about 50% in my opinion, with only about 10% for a delay more than an hour. customer service is in India, also, but it's all understandable - they ARE cheap. I had countless flights for $20 each way total from FL to New York, Boston, Dallas, Atlanta etc. I never had a problem with carrying my stuff in a small bag - "personal item", if it fits under the seat - its free. If I need to check in the back - I purchase it online when booking a flight and it's only $18. I choose my seat at the check in and it's free.
Yes, there is not much you can do if you need to change or cancel the flight, but can you blame them? You get what you pay for, and it's understandable.
by the way, all the fees are clearly stated on the website, so I dont think there should be surprises if you just pay attention when you book your flight.

To hom it May Concern. I want to thank the flight crew on Spirit #470 (LAX-LV) 11/30/2011 for their thoughtfulmess and help. I am 93 and my travelling companion was 86 and we were treated with kid gloves. We wish the airline much success. I want to particularly thank 3 of the crew; Melissa Catterlin, Luis Orozco and Elizabeth Allen. They give the airline a good name. Best, Peggy Mollin

Once you get a 'live' person, it is easy to get help. I still had a problem getting to a 'live' person even after following directions to press 1 then 0. Isabelle finally answered and she was very pleasant and helpful. It would be much easier if it was less difficult to get to your home page. I have flown on Spirit and it has been great.

I traveled from Ft Lauderdale to Atlanta on 9/17/11 and returned on 9/25/11. The ticket agent who assisted me was very helpful and personable. Gate people were very pleasant. Stewards on board were very professional. Seats are small and close together but I chose not to spend more money for a bigger seat. The flight was very good. I will travel Spirit again. My only complaint with any air travel is waiting while most passengers remove their bags from overhead. I never have a carryon and it would be nice if those who do not have a carryon could get off first.

I had a flight on wedensday afternoon the 28th, flight 180 and I want to comment on the great service. The flight was on time. The staff, especially Grace was wonderful. i do not recall the other crew members names, but they were all amazing! Please keep it up! So glad that Spirit Airlines is so helpful. First, I am given a voucher code for a ten hour delayed flight. The counter woman told me that there was no expiration date, WRONG! Now I am out the vouchur I was given and no manager at Spirit will give it back! Nice customer service. Maybe if Spirit had bright people working from them this wouldnt have happened. Thanks for letting me wait on hold for an 1/2 hour and then hanging up on me too! This was my FIRST experience flying Spirit and I will NEVER fly Spirit again! Way to retain customers Spirit Airlines!

I travelled on Spirit on 8-1-11 from Detroit to Ft. Lauderdale. The flight was delayed due to weather issues in NYC. I thought thegate attendant did a fabulous job in understanding and helping the passengers. She was unusually committed to this and I was very impressed so I wanted her to be recognized. Her name was La Shawn (spelling?)
