The male manager at 945 Kings highway came in the female sanua unannounced and asked me to step outside due to the fact I was properly dressed I wanted to know why? He refused to say and I said I'm not moving until you tell me why. He said you have on a plastic top. I had on a sauna suit top which is sold at Model. He had me undress in front of him and client and threaten to have my membership cancelled if I did not follow his instructions. I wzas walking with a cane, the floor was slippery wet my cane slipped twice I was using the cane because I had goit. Later he told me it was ok to wear the sauna suit top. Men wear the same top he never confronted them, other women wear the same top he never confronted them. I now have a stress pelvic frature and have not been able to work for 6 weeks. I contacted the district manger by mail and he never responed.

this company is so worthless they just want to take your money and dont care bout the person. i had to pay $1300 to collections because my ballys account was charged so much interested and i couldnt get out of it. When i signed up the agent lied to me and said it was a month to month program. Now my credit score is bad because after i paid of the $1300 they never submitted to the credit bureau that i paid off this amount. So its still effects my credit score. I am trying to get a hold of them over the phone but no one seems to help me.

my friend took me to bally at 86st bklyn i asked if i can try out the gym before joining with an attitude he said it cost $10.00 but since he is a nice guy and he new my friend he would give me a free 7 day pass, i found out on line they give 7 day free trial or u sign up for one on line u can print out. i called the next day for info in prices i was connected to a guy who was very cold, i called another place in bklyn tilden st. and the woman was talking so fast i asked if they gave free pass to try out they gym she said yes for one day only i told her was she sure about that one day only pass then she changed it to 7 days. she said $25.00 by month but for there gym only, not true the gym fee for the month was also $25.00 at 86.00 st. bklyn. they have liers working there and cold people.

I am in absolute rage with both Bally's and LA Fitness. I have called both companies trying to cancel and get a refund back and it is impossible! Both parties are blaming each and put me through a wild goose chase. This is the most wrongful type of charge I have evere seen and can not believe that any company would do this and have complete disregard for customer service. Why is there no law suit for this??

It seems my issue is the opposite of most of yours. My local gym is still Bally and the closest LA Fitness is 3 hours away. It has been impossible to get Bally to transfer my account back. It seems they only transferred accounts to LA Fitness and never any back to them.

the worst company ever, slow to respond, no one ever picks up the phone, usually like 10 mins or more waiting for anyone to pick up the phone. terrible service, terrible, gym, dirty as hell, treast memebrs like shi#t, no wonder they bankrupted. they should disappear. they just stole my money from by credit card, which i cancelled long ago. no refund policy. just bullsh#t company. don't join.

I went into a Ballys near Memorial mall and a girl Mayra basically said that she could start me a month to month contract with a cheaper monthly payment. I advised that I already had a contract and she said that she could cancel my other one and start me this one. Well she started one all right, but come to find out she did not cancel my other one (according to Ballys reps there is no way to do that), she just changed my mailing, and contact numbers so I wouldn't be contacted. Next thing I know I was served advising that I owe them money. I denied and sent the denial to the court. Well next thing I know I have a letter in the mail advising that I have a summary judgement against me. I did not know what that was so called the local court that issued it. To my surprise apparently there was a court date that I did not attend and they won. Well the notice was supposedly sent to my house advising of the court date, and I was told I could appeal. Only thing is I only had 10 days from the notice which it was a holiday weekend so I they were only giving me 1 day to go in and appeal. I went to the court house and got copies of the notice that was sent to me and it was apparently mailed to the wrong address (my neighbors....which I dont know why they didnt send it to me). I of course did not have time to reasearch anything on how to appeal so could not. Ballys told me to send a copy of my DL with my signature and sign my name 5 times on a sheet of paper. Then I was to mail it and they would have to review. Well I sent it certified and never got a call so I had to keep calling. Well I finally got a hold of a supervisor and he said that the department has verified it is my signature. I insisted I did not sign anything and asked for a copy of the contract and he said that he could not provide me with one. I asked why not and he said due to legal issues. So now I am left to have to figure this all out due to their employees actions. BALLYS IS A HORRIBLE CORPORATION!!! No surprise they are going under.....

On 1/3/2012, I went to the Bally Total Fitness Gym in Rosemead, CA after returning from my holiday vacation and was notified that Bally (in So CAL) was bought over by LA Fitness. I have been a regular member at this gym for the last four years, since I relocated to CA from New York.

Unfortunately, this buy-out has affected my five and half years as a Bally Member (Enrolled Date: 9/22/05). As soon as I checked-in at the gym, a LA Fitness staff member notified me that I need to contact Bally’s headquarters (tel. 866.402.2559) because my membership needs to be transferred to LA fitness. In addition, my member information is NOT in their database, because I opened my account at the Kew Garden branch, when I lived in New York back in 2005.

I called Bally’s headquarters and spoke with Juan. He claimed, as of a couple of weeks ago (December 31, 2011), Bally is no longer transferring Bally accounts to LA Fitness Account. He gave me two options; 1. Give my membership to someone else (for a $20 fee) or 2. Get a refund for my account as of December 1, 2011.

I can not express the anger and frustration that I currently have with Bally. Why should I be affected by this buy-out? I paid my dues like everyone else. I’m not looking for any special treatment. I simply want to continue going to the same gym that I’ve been going to for the last four years.

So, unfortunately, I requested a refund.
I spoke with a Bally’s Customer Service Rep from Member Support Center: (866) 402-2559, last week. She told me, "the credit was submitted (as of 1/10/12) and there’s nothing that she could do. Please contact your bank". She also sent me a copy of my Bally Membership Transaction History file which displayed a refund amount of $97.44.

I contacted my bank and the representative told me, they have no records of such credit on file.

I’m still waiting for my refund! Uuuggghhhh!

I have been trying to speak to someone from customer service for the last three days. I call the(866)number and all that happens is the estimate waiting time is ten minute, and no one ever come to the phone. This does not make any sense.

It took me 2 weeks to finally find this page and find out how to actually be able to speak to a representative from corporate Bally's customer service. Boy, when the representative found out I was in the buyout to L.A. Fitness category - he tried to hang up on me fast! There are are some Bally's that are remaining Bally's - but here in Los Angeles - they sold us all to L.A. Fitness. Problem: - there is no L.A. Fitness in Northern CA - where I live now - but I'm on the southern CA Bally's list. I now know the reason they are doing this. They had a lot of people like me who were paying very small annual amounts - since 94' I bought the plan that would have me pay only $96. a year for life. They sold these to L.A. Fitness and now - God knows if L.A. fitness is going to honor that agreement-probably not. And when I spoke to the Bally's representative - I said I want to STAY with Bally's and he said I couldn't - at my old rate. I'd have to buy a NEW membership now -because I was sold. IF they were going bankrupt and completely out of business- I'd understand that we would be screwed. But they are staying in business - and just getting rid of old long term contracts and agreements by doing this. It's not right - very unfair. And they are being so sneaky about it. L.A. Fitness is acting like they are going to honor all agreements from Bally's-but I'd be willing to bet they won't when the time comes to renew. I'm VERY upset. And I lost the ability to use Bally's in the areas that I need to. Although I travel back to southern CA - and could use L.A. Fitness there -I'm screwed for northern CA. Bally's used to be a great company-oh well-money changes everything.

Worst customer service ever. Had a Membership since 1987 was told on 12/5/11 that my membership was not purchased by LA Fitness & I'm no longer welcome at the Commercial Blvd In Florida unless I enroll in a new Plan with them & gave me a phone # to contact Bally for refund since I've just renewed my membership in October

My son was enrolled in Bally's Total Martial Arts in Greenbelt, MD beginning Sept. 2011 and since the purchase by LA Fitness all classes have been cancelled. I had to reach for this information simply to be given a refund for 1 month. I along with many other parents purchased a $45.00 uniform, $45 dollar shoes and the $20.00 journal. This is very unfair to just cancel the classes and not reimburse us for our expenses. Is there a Bally's rep that can address me?

Bally Total Fitness is the absolute worse. I've read some of the other comments and can concur, this transition was handled extremely poorly and they took a lot of our money. I've been a Premier Plus member since '94 and had them take out funding electronically using my debit card. They took out my yearly funding on 10/31/11 and now I'm told by L.A. Fitness, it shows my membership has been expired. I was told to call Bally's. I called Bally's and was told it was not their responsibility and I was to contact L.A.Fitness. I have a bank statement showing proof of this transaction and I was technically paid up through 10/31/2012. Now, I'm being told that I have no membership anywhere. I really want to be involved in a class action lawsuit. This is highway robbery. To think, I was one of their most loyal and dedicated customers. Wow!

I had the same experience here in Seattle. I have already contacted the attorney general here and filed a complaint as well as the local Seattle NBC affiliate to complain. First when I got the e mail from Ballys I registered at the LA fitness site and got a confirmation e mail. Then the next day 12/01 when I went to the site it told me my membership was non existent. When I called LA Fitness I was told they did not buy the yearly or lifetime contracts. I called Bally's and they told me well you can go to Bally's clubs and keep your membership but unfortunately there are none in your area. No kidding because you sold them to LA Fitness. This is a huge rip off. In the letter that Bally's sent it said it would be a seamless integration to the new club. Evidently no one told this to LA fitness. They have been nothing but rude and dismissive with comments such as we did not buy those contract that's why Bally's went under. I am currently searching for a law firm to take up this class action.

I live in florida, and have been to my local club (Davie) several times since the take over. When I walk in I just flash them my old ballys card. Twice after my work-out I have gone and inquired about my lifetime memebership and when the girl looks in the computer she can not find any information about me or my account, and I am told that not all the memberships have transfered over and check back in a few days.

I just paid in full both mine & husbands yearly Ballys membership. been member since 2000. At the same time of paying in full the renewals I added my brother & sister to our membership on a monthly payment. seems La Fitness has the monthlys but not the total yearly payments. These phone just give run around and the numbers at the Bally clubs (now LAFitness just ring or answer then hang up) Bally 8664022559 is answered then people just transfer to message about calling LA Fitness.

I just paid my annual fee in November, and now the LA fitness rep just told my that my "lifetime membership expired." As soon as I get home I'm going to do some digging around for paperwork to show these pompous asses what's what.

Bally Customer Service is terrible. I was talking to a service rep "Edgar" who could not tell anything about what's going on with the membership transfer or why Bally's is still stealing money from my checking account monthly. when I asked "Edgar" to speak with a supervisor, he disconnected the call, I called again and spoke with a manager by the name of "Mario" who wasn't of much help either. All he could do was give me the number to LA Fitness and tell me "sorry for the inconvenience". Bally's to me now are worse than thieves and street thugs.

I live in Florida and all Bally clubs have been purchased by LA Fitness. I called a local club and they said I will have privileges until the end of December, then I would need to upgrade. However this "so-called" upgrade is purchasing a new membership.

Next I called HQ customer service and got a different answer. I was told that because I have a "life-time" any club membership and pay only an annual fee that my membership is good through the renewal date next summer. She was not able to tell me what happens after that.

So I will need to go to the local club and see what happens......

I just got an email today saying my membership was transferred to LA Fitness too. I called Bally to find out what was going on. How can they wait til the effective day to tell me without prior notice. They did not give me any details so after arguing at the rep for 20 min I called one of the ballys I'm close too. My concern was that my membership whih gave me access to call clubs, would be limited to one club. he informed me that I would still have access to all clubs and the same rate, but I had to renew my membership before it expires.

Bally Total Fitness has notified Maryland area members they are only keeping select Ballys in key areas (Bally Sport) which they deny membership to the existing members and have sold us to LA Fitness. How can they do this. I hope there is enough people to sue the pants off the freaking pirates!!! Just not right!

I renewed my membership for a year and was charged twice. Now I find out that Bally Total Fitness is becoming LA Fitness. So what happens to my membership. I have been a Bally member for over 20 years and I cannot get any answers from Bally. I am very disappointed with Bally

I find myself in need of answers regarding the billing and the increase of monthly fee without notification. I was a month behind because of fraudlent charges against my Charge card so it was replaced. I received a new one and then updated my account. I paid the delinquent amount and on the same day I was charged a new fee. At month end another payment was charged. I have now paid in advance for what I can only hope is December. Still trying to resolve issues but the phone# 1-866-402-2559 does not give me the option to talk to someone.

Wilsonville, Oregon is the worst Bally's ever. The so called male "Trainers" in there are flat scary and know nothing about training. The place is so dirty, there is no telling what kind of dieases you could and would pick up there. In the 8 years I have been going there, this last year they have sunk to an all time low. Scary employees, dirty facility, rude members. There is never a single person there with a smile on thier face....that says it all.

Bally Total Fitness, they are the worst customer service ever ever!!!. I got my daughter a trial membership over the summer. I was told that before the 3rd month we could call and cancel it if we decided she didn't want it. Since my daughter went back to college, she wasn't going to be able to use it much. Early September I called and then sent letter of cancelation. Ballys has now debit my account for two months and every time I call for a refund they say that there is no debit showing on the membership. They just give you the run a round and nothing gets accomplished. I will now never use Bally Total fitness.
