I made reservations with your company around July 5, 2010. I called and talked to a real person to set this up. I called to our hotel last Tuesday to confirm our reservations. The front desk didn't have no listing for me. I was on the computer looking for a 800 number for your business. Your company doesn't make it easy to get hold of customer service. The hotel was able to get 2 rooms but I was very lucky because in Laguna Beach was a big art festival going on and we had 4 tickets for Friday night @ 40.00 each to see the Pageant of the Masters. Your company didn't fax our information to them after I made the reservations. Instead of just asking about our experience at our hotel you should be asking about our experience with you.

  • Orbitz's customer service is sooooooo bad!!! I accidentally missed my flight on August 10th and of course I was very eager to seek help to cancel the air ticket. The airport told me that I should cancel the ticket from the company/agency where I bought the ticket since the ticket is e-ticket. So I found this number 001-312-416-0018 from orbitz website as I was outside of US at that time. The first woman who answered my call gave me totally wrong information, she arbitrarily told me that Orbitz can't do anything to help me in this case, I have to go to the airport or the airline company to cancel the airticket, and she insisted in this again and again. So I hung up and after a while I called in again, this time another woman answered the call with very impatient voice from the beginning, since this is an international call it seems she couldn't hear/understand me well, then to my surprise she bravely and decisively just hung up my call! So this time I even didn't have the honor to talk much and there is no way for me to know and comment on her professional knowledge. This is the Orbitz customer service!! I don't understand if these guys don't care about their jobs at all why Ortibz has to offer them the job in this economy??!!!

  • Had questions on their drop off at a different location than pick up. Unable to answer and tried to pass the buck, said I had to contact the car rental directly. I asked " then why do I need Orbitz ? " I was then directed to a " sales counselor " which didn't happen. No supervisor available naturally. After another 1/2 hour ( total about 1 1/4 hrs ) I was advised I would have to take a cab but it was plain she just wanted out of the conversation because she didn't know and was unable to find out.
What the hell kind of service is that ???

  • Just got my credit card statement and found a $13.75 charge from Orbitz. It was a booking fee that was buried down in "Terms and Conditions". Got me this time, but never again...

  • I began filling out the eight-step form for a flight I found on Orbitz, selected my roundtrip flights for $250pp, chose a rental car, entered my billing and credit card information, then clicked "Complete Booking." In the ten minutes it took me to complete the form, the site gave me an error message saying my flight was no longer available. I went back to step one and discovered it was available — only the price had increased by $115 per ticket during the ten minutes I spent filling out there form. They do not hold and honor the prices once you've started a form. I was furious. To add insult to injury, the Orbitz customer service line is not in the United States, and there is a frustrating disconnect speaking with foreigners. How shameful that they won't give call center jobs to Americans who need work.

  • DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON THE TRAVEL PROTECTION INSURANCE OFFERED ON THE ORBITZ SITE! I must agree with the previous commenter re: the airline travel insurance. I thought the purpose of buying travel insurance was to protect yourself against unforeseen circumstances that might cause you to cancel your trip. According to their document your heirs should be in great shape for receiving a refund of ticket cost if you are killed in a crash or hijacked or dismembered etc. However if you just need to cancel your trip, the work and cost associated with documenting your cancellation far outweighs the refund you will get, which is what these SCAM ARTISTS are banking on I'm sure. That said, orbitz itself has not been a problem throughout our trip cancellation so far. We'll see how it goes when it comes time to actually reschedule our trip.

  • Screw Orbitz! I'm still on the phone after 2 1/2 hours with these A holes from one agent to another and another. I just want to change my return ticket and willing to pay the $270 fine.

    Anonymous 8/6/10 1:44PM

  • I too cancelled my flight immidiately, and was promised a refund, but I look on the site and it says my ticket is non refundable. Which is it? Because this is a bunch of trouble. Don't book with orbitz. Priceline is a lot better. I just got off the phone with customer service, and they said I will be refunded, and if I'm not, I'm calling them back. I plan to get my money back.

    AmberWycuff 7/23/10 10:40AM

  • DONT BUY THE AIRLINE TICKET INSURANCE!!!! offered on orbitz website. Its a scam. They say its for incase you need to change your ticket for an emergency due to sickness, work emergency etc. what they dont tell you,is that youll spend endless hours jumping through hoops and filling out paper work, getting doctors notes(like your a high school kid),etc. to prove your purpose for the cancellation. Why would you book a ticket just so you could change it? it doesnt make sense. Long story short, way short, i told the scam artist "insurance"co. that they should put a disclosure in bold print next to the "lure" they have expllaining all the red tape and hoops you have to deal with in order to use it. I had to tell the lady "just screw it,forget it,ill just pay the change fee and write it off,and write a warning to other potential scam victims". She didnt seem to mind.

  • Booked a trip with Orbitz, and found out less than 24 hours later that my schooling Colloquium trip needed to be cancelled, due to a school mishap. Immediately I cancelled the trip, and was promised a REFUND in 5 days!!!!!!!!!!!! That did NOT happen. When contacting them after 7 days....they replied with it was promised in 5 to 7 days...and it would be there by Friday, July 2, 2010 FOR SURE. It was not, and is still not there today, July 7. Currently, I have spent over one hour on the phone with NO ANSWERS! One lie after another. The customer service rep continued to state that the REFUND DEPARTMENT is saying that they do not know WHEN...I will get my refund. I will NEVER book with ORBITZ AGAIN! In fact, please...heed my advice and DO NOT book with orbitz. Small print? It was cancelled in the small print guidelines...and still a HUGE RUN AROUND!!!! WRONG

  • The whole Orbitz experience has been negative. A flight had to be rearranged and the tickets now became something I had to use in a year-with a three hundred dollar penalty charge attached. Rules are too restrictive and not worth the hassle when I can get the same deals through the airline directly. Good luck to anyone who tries to use them.

  • We made an innocent mistake and hit the wrong month key, instead of June we mistakenly hit July and are now stuck with a hotel reservation in July in San Francisco- we live in Canada. We will not be able to use the reservation and no one is willing to accommodate an innocent mistake. We will lose the entire amount of our reservation for two nights in San Francisco. Orbitz was more accommodating than Hilton Hotels who were intractable. I will never use either and will make sure that I tell everyone I know not to patronize Orbitz or Hilton, or Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn.

    Anonymous 6/29/10 10:44AM

  • I'd have to agree with the comment below me. Booking through the hotel insures accuracy and for the few bucks you save, it isn't worth the hassle. I am a concierge for a major NY Ti-state Area hotel.

  • I specifically asked for two queen beds since I was traveling with my 18 year old son (I'm his mother) and was assured that this is what I would get. When I got to the hotel I found that only single king sized beds were available not only in that hotel but in every hotel in the area because of an event that was taking place. In fact, all rooms with two queen beds have been sold out 10 months before. The hotel clerk looked at my reservation and found that the Orbitz representative reserved our room as "any available" even though he verbally told me that I was getting what I asked for. I called Orbitz customer service for help. First the representative told me that it was my own fault for not checking - although no document actually mentioned the number of beds so there was nothing for me to notice. Then she said that she could cancel my reservation and refund my money, but then it would be up to me to find my own lodging (at 7pm in a town I've never been to before) and when I insisted on speaking with a suprevisor she hung up on me.

  • I will not use Orbitz again. Booked flights and hotel through Orbitz for vacation for four. Paid in full upfront. Hotel did not honor the ocean front room booked. Orbitz ways its not responsible, even though room is paid in full upfront through Orbitz. Had we booked directly with hotel, we would have paid only a night's charges upfront and could have bargained. Response to complaint to Orbitz resulted in form email reply. NEVER AGAIN.....

  • In December of 2009 when BA went on strike, we had to cancel a flight booked through Orbitz. At the time we canceled Orbitz called BA and got the verification that the flight qualified for a refund. I was told it could take up to 45 days to process. Here we are 6 months later, no dispute that I am entitled to a refund but no one can tell me why I still don't have it. No less than 25 hours of my time and 6 months of credit card interest later I still have not had contact with one customer service rep who can actually resolve this. I want my $1290 back!!! After years as a regular Orbitz customer I will never use them again!

  • A car reservation made through Orbitz, was charged by the provider at a different rate than the one confirmed by Orbitz. The provider said I had to contact Orbitz, as the rate was set by them; however, Orbitz customer service say it has to be resolved by the service provider and they have been unable to reach them by phone.
One agent suggested I sent a fax to Orbitz Customer Service at (310) 734-1807.
I sent the email on NOvember 18, 2009 with 7 pages of supporting documentation, but have not heard back from anyone.
Terrible service and will not use their services again. In the end I ended paying more than the rate I was getting from Expedia or Travelocity, both of whom have much better customer service.

  • Screw your company, I have been fighting an unjust charge to my credit card from you people for over a year. You originally booked a flight for me, charged my card and then sent me a notice the next day stating that the seats weren't available. I then booked another flight. You then apparently re booked me without notice of doing so.. I never used your tickets , you never had my permission to rebook after canceling me. You have now turned me into a collection agency after FAILING TO RECTIFY YOUR OWN MISTAKE
I am going to pay your damn bill so as not to have you ruin my pristine credit rating.
Rest assured that I will do everything in my power thru word of mouth and the internet to insure that people are well aware of what a piece of garbage business you run. Enjoy your couple hundred bucks, I will get more than that back in satisfaction of trashing your companys reputation in any way I can. John Ruby

  • Dear Orbitz

I used your service as i was told that you were good in giving information. Not so fast
as my son got hit with a 25.00 fee for luggage
from U S Air which was not in the total fee.
We were surprised as not one person from Orbitz
    told us about the fee.

  • I had a horrible experience with Orbitz yesterday. I had booked a one-way ticked to Chicago from Los Angeles, and called within the 24-hour courtesy cancellation time period to get a refund since my travel plans changed. The agent I spoke with told me that she would cancel my flight for me and send me a confirmation email. Well it wasn't until the next day that I realized I never got the email, and when I went to review my Orbitz profile it said that the flight had never been cancelled. What occurred next was a 2 hour nightmare.

The first agent I spoke with told me the previous agent never documented me wanting to cancel my trip. I gave the agent specific information on the time I called and who I spoke with. She told me she was going to put me on hold and listen to the call herself. She had me on hold for 20 minutes before the call was disconnected.

I called back a second time and spoke to a man who seemed to be a bit more understanding and sympathetic. Again, he told me I was to be placed on hold while he listened to this recorded call. About 5 mins later he comes back on the line and tells me he heard the call and confirmed that I had made a call to cancel. Then he transfers me to a supervisor who was supposed to see about issuing my refund.

Well this "supervisor" gave me the most grief. She put me on hold for 20 minutes to review this call, and when she gets back on the line she tells me that she had spoken with the agent and the agent had said I only inquired about the cancellation and never called to cancel. I told her this was false and that I wanted to hear the tape, and to be quite frank, if she had indeed talked to the agent directly, the woman was obviously trying to save her on job. She puts me on hold for another 20 minutes to "listen to the call" and again, she gets back on the line and tells me the same thing. I tell her I want my money back because I know I called within the time period and I called specifically to cancel, and if the agent thought I was only inquiring about a cancellation, there was an obvious communication error. I demand to get a full refund.

She puts me on hold another 10 minutes before getting back on the line and telling me that she found the call, but because it was under one minute long, the recording was not documented. I call BS and call her out on it, especially since she had just lied and said that the call was 3-4 minutes long, which was why she had to put me on hold a previous time. So it went from being a 3-4 minute call about me "inquiring" about a cancellation, to there being a 7-second call that was never recorded. To top it off, she then proceeds to tell me that she could only issue a $75 refund for a $150 ticket. She only offered this after I threatened to get corporate involved, in which she made a snide remark. I asked her to send me the email documenting this before I got off of the phone and she told me she could not do this until the call was disconnected.

Fifteen minutes passed and I got no email. I call again and ask to speak to a supervisor and of course, no sympathy, even though I was in tears on the line from being frustrated and feeling cheated. And when I told my spill and asked for questions to be answered, she offered no solutions at all. She sent the email and kept it moving. I got in contact with corporate to get the issue resolved.

It took me sending out tweet on Twitter threatening to sue Orbitz (which I didn't even think would be followed up on since I was just venting) for me to get a solution. About an hour after I sent the tweet, I got an email from another supervisor stating she reviewed my account and noted that I had called within the 24-hour time limit, but the cancellation was never documented. As a result, I got the rest of my money back in addition to a $100 voucher to use toward a future trip.

Although I am relieved the situation was resolved, the headache that accrued in the process was not worth it. I don't understand why I was given the runaround and made to feel like I was being cheated out of my own money for another person's mistake.

  • Too bad about profanity. They have agents that are inexperienced, speak poor English and don't know how to book flights, even for a $25 pp fee. I did it for them, just about. They and the airlines overcharged me $180 pp to change flights and refused to credit me the difference when I selected cheaper ones. However, they tried to get me to buy even more expensive ones and compound the bad service.Very shady company. Book Direct, no matter the price. They will get you!

  • I booked 2 rooms for 4 adults at the super 8 hotel in Auburn, Indiana. This was a business trip. After my husband & coworkers left work for the day, they came to super 8 to find out only 1 room is booked for 2 adults. The rest of the hotel was booked. They had single beds & the hotel didn't have any cots so 2 guys had to sleep on the filthy floor. Spent hours on the phone with Orbitz to try to fix this. So they said i would get a refund for this room. My husband left a day early & the Joyce at the Super 8 said she would refund the room for that night as long as the clothing was out before noon, which it was. 2 weeks later i see no refund yet from Orbitz, so i called & was put on & off hold for an hour. The first night with only 1 room when i should of had 2, and paid for 2 rooms she said she would she would give half that amount back for the 1 room they didn't get. I said no way, they slept on floors, not to mention I'm not paying for something i didn't get, so i was put on hold again, then Ruby came back on the phone to tell me they would refund me the $71.90, but as far as the last night they didn't stay i will have to call back tomorrow because Pam was leaving. Absolutely horrible customer service. Your better off calling the hotel directly because all you get out of it is being on the phone for hours trying to get your money back. It's not worth the hassle.

  • I found that it is cheaper to work directly with the airline than go through Orbitz. When asked how much to fly to Switzerland from Los Angeles in business class, Orbitz quoted me $7000+. The airline offered a rate of $3000.

Last year I flew business class w/American Airlines from Los Angeles to Rome for $2900 by calling the airline direct.

Think twice before using Orbitz. I knoW I will

  • I booked and paid for specific hotel in Montego Bay, Jamaica through orbitz, but when I got there I was moved to a cheaper, lower grade hotel. When I contacted orbitz to let them know of this switch, they have been unable to resolve the problem. I've been going back and forth with them for the past 3 weeks and still nothing. They dont seem to give a damn since they got the payment. Basially this is fraud and I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau. This is not how a legitimate organization conducts business or customer service.

  • I am a frequent flier and have never had problems with air tickets until I have contacted Orbitz! Worst service ever! They have sold me e-ticket but in the system reflected it as a paper ticket, so I was not able to take my flight - I had to buy a new ticket to Madrid and then in Madrid to file lost ticket complaint and still pay for the difference to get a ticket! Huge financial loss and customer service is not helpful at all, currently I am on the line for almost 1 hour and still no solution.
Guys, better, get out with business with so many negative references, I would tell all my friends. I even do not know if there is a hope to get a refund but I am ready to go to court.

  • On April 3 2010 I was supposed to pick up a car from Avis rental car in El Salvador that was coming im my package with the flight fare.My suprise was when I got there they din't let me to go into thier office to ask about the car instead I had to wait outside at the door waiting for somebody from Avis rental car, after twenty five minutes a lady showed up and she was telling me that I had to fill out a form and leave my credit card, but she couldn't tell me how much I had to pay for the car, instead she told me "When you will return the car I will tell you how much you pay".So I was very unhappy with the service, and I decided not to take the car with me,because it was so informal, dishonest, not legal, not responsible and not trustful. So please do not put this package online cause I believe this is a way to screw the customer with money.

  • We booked a r/t flight this summer from Barcelona to Turin. Orbitz confirmed the flight, yet today I was informed via email the flight was changed to a day later which makes the trip impractical. We already have reservations and limited time, so the dates we chose were etched in stone. I worked hard to contact Orbitz, but Bombay Bob was no help. I didn't change any dates but if I want to cancel the tickets it will cost me 50% of the tickets value. Forget that Alitalia has flights all day long on the 18th, Orbitz offered no help. Never again will I use this disappointing company.

So I tried to reschedule for a different trip for him going to Virginia, but it expired. Now I'm out $300 give or take. Orbitz refused to give me my money back or let me use it later. Not fair. • I have had a terrible learning experience using Orbitz. I booked the Hotel Liabeny in Madrid through Orbitz. Subsequently ,my Mother became ill and is dying in the Hospice Program. I had to cancel my trip. Orbitz has entered into agreements with some of the hotels to not allow cancelations or even itinerary changes without loss of the complete amount of the reservation costs which they require in advance at the time of the reservation! This is true no matter how many weeks in advance you notify them. This is a dishonest and low integrity business contract that obviously makes the participants much richer at our expense. Do not use Orbitz for any reservations!

  • Apparently price assurance is not available on any package vacations. I booked my vacation with Orbitz less than a month ago and now see that the price of the vacation has dropped by approximately $500. Orbitz will do nothing to assist with a price adjustment. When I called them and waited on hold for a total of 20 minutes, they insisted that in fact the price of the vacation had gone up since I booked it. I pointed out that I was looking at the same vacation online on their site and it in fact was almost $500 less. Then they explained that there was nothing they could do for me. I work in the hotel industry and I know that reservations are changed and rebooked all the time. They are not very customer service oriented. They should point out that price assurance is only on individually booked items and BUYER BEWARE FOR PACKAGE VACATIONS. In this economy I would think that some customer appreciation and the fact that you would be willing to spend any money in this economy would get you more than "I am sorry there is nothing I can do, have a nice evening."

  • I made a reservation thru this website for vacation package..and two days after went back online to check the price again, the same package but $200 cheaper, now i call the customer service dept and see if they can give me that price, but the first person i talk to basically to me no and didnt even let talk and discuss my concern she just went on and on about thier policy, then i ask for supervisor hoping to get a better explanation, but this person is even worse, he let me talk and not even responding, after i stop talking i would say "hello are u there" and he'll be like " im sorry but i can't give you any refund" now im find not getting my refund because of their"policy" but at least give me good customer service and emphatize with me, i do customer service and i know even though there's nothing you can do,at least you can emphatize with then and dont make them feel they made a mistake making business with you....and that's after putting me on hold for very long time...

When I called Orbitz, I got a lady who spoke such poor English that neither my husband nor myself could understand her. After repeatedly asking her to repeat herself, we gave up. We also have a $2 charge on our credit card from Orbitz with no explanation so we have no idea what it is for. I guess no only are they overcharging us for the rooms, they are charging a processing fee to do it.

They said thei system requires that they split it into 2 reservations . So they set up the first part of our group and we paid for that . Then they told us that the rest of the group was going to be $1500 more that what we agreed on so we said just to cancel the deal , At first they refused to . It took 10 hours on the phone at every level to get them to cancel and refund our money . • I recently booked an Orbitz trip to Aruba (AP110101014CM8VBS). When I booked the airline, seats were assigned for the return flight but the flight to Aruba said "seats will be assigned at time of departure".My husband recently had knee replacement surgery and needed an aisle seat. I contacted an Orbitz rep but he said that he could not help. A few weeks before, I went to the Continental web site and found that there were only two seats available (neither was aisle and they were not together). I took the two seats for fear that we would be shut out. Luckily, I called Continental 24 hours before the flight and got an aisle seat for my husband.
When we arrived at the Radisson, they had no record of our reservation. I showed them the Orbitz confirmation but it took us an hour to get a room.
Needless to say, I will be reluctant to use Orbitz in the future.

  • We had a great trip planned through Orbitz, suffered through the young man who could barely be understood, and at the end were charged much more than was on our screen. To our amazement, customer service did not care, did not apologize, did not offer anything except "have a good day". The lack of caring really shocked us and we will not be going on that site again.

  • I tried to use my credit card for a flight/hotel/car package and Orbitz charged my card 2625 dollars and refused to give me any reservations or tickets and when calling Orbitz live representatives named Marla and later Morris they refused to cancel the charges and refused to give me reservations or tickets.

Terrible service when a noted Corporation commits scams or fraud.

  • Wished i had seen this before I made reservations.
Do not trust Orbitz to honour what you request. Once you push the utton once you have identified your flights, they send the bill with a different iteneray.
THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE -SENT A NOTE TO TEHM THROUGH THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE TAB - 5 DAYS LATER STILL NOTHING SO POOR AT REACHABILITY - ASSUMING THEY DON'T WANT TO BE REACHED NOR WANT TO COMMUNCIATE BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO RESOLVE ANYTHING -WANT YOUR MONEY PERIOD.

  • On the way back home from Hawaii, found out that they had only booked one leg of our journey: Kauai to San Francisco, but not SF to Chicago.

Their phone number is very hard to find on the website and not available really anywhere else. Imagine trying to get it while at the airport!

Finally got through, and they had no idea what I was talking about. Took about 1 hour to get it resolved, and all they offered was $50 credit, despite the fact that we would have probably missed our flight had we not come super early.

    Hate Orbitz. They suck

  • To make a very long story short since I've had to recant it several times over the last two months, I will cut out many details and try to be as brief as possible.

I purchased tickets from Germany to Athens in May 09 through Orbitz.
I was married on 24 September 09 in Germany and we were heading out on 3 October to the Greek islands.
On 3 October we showed up for our flight, and the airline had changed ownership and was no longer running flights out of Germany.
The airline stated that our travel agency Orbitz was responsible for notifying us because they had the information that the flight was going to be cancelled.
Many thousands of wasted dollars later, all I want is my airline tickets refunded, which I was told by an Orbitz rep (on several different occasions) would happen within 45 days. (it was 14 at first and then they changed their story) Regardless, the customer service has been horrible, their answers don't make sense, Manager's don't seem to exist. My refund was supposedly issued on 11 Oct 09. It's Dec. 30 09 and I still don't have it.

  • My most recent flight was cancelled due to weather problems. My problem was that no one called my contact number to inform me of this situation to do so.

  • orbitz was aweful! we accidentally made a duplicate reservation because we got no conformation from orbitz, when we called (sat on hold, talked to a rep we could not understand) they had us call airlines. Then the airlines had us call orbitz,(on hold for both for several minutes), when we did finally get it worked out and credit and the flights reserved, once again we got no conformation. When we flew, airlines had no record for our flight and we had to buy new all over again!!!!!!!!!! Never again!!!

  • Up until this episode with Orbitz my experience has been positive. Last April I booked a flight to Mexico that cost me $519. I received a message that due to the swine flu it was recommended that any unnecessary traveling not be done. I now tried to reschedule the flight to Mexico yesterday, Dec 9, 09. I was told I would have to pay an additional $648!!!! And that I could only use the ticket for Mexico... which contradicts what I was told last April.
I also suspect that this is being done to thousands of other people who cancelled last April flights to Mexico. I am very disappointed in Orbitz.

I have in the past used EXPEDIA with NO PROBLEMS ever, but for some reason used Orbitz and after spending 15 minutes of my time looking through all the BULL CRAP they want to sell you booked my flight only to receive an Itinerary 2 hours later tat was INCORRECT. There customer service wants to give me my money back on my credit card in 5 -7 days and tells me to book another flight. THEY SUCK I would never EVER use them again.........john Adams

  • DO NOT USE ORBITZ!!! Very poor customer service. Ended up doing some things on my own around our travel. Also, they really dropped the ball by not letting us know our flights from Seattle to Maui were cancelled!! Thank goodness I just happened to call 3 days before our departure date as I wanted to print off the intinerary and could not. We would have ended up in Seattle with no ongoing flights- plus they were fully aware I was travelling with someone with a disability who required a wheel chair etc. I have wanted to discuss this with them but believe I have now been put on 'ignore'. Oh well- we were going to use them for 2 more upcoming trips but never again and I tell everyone I know- DON'T USE ORBITZ!!

  • Bought a package to a Greek island through Orbitz. Orbitz made a mistake and gave "control" of our flights to wrong airline. Awful customer service finally admitted their mistake but refused to do anything for us. Had to re-purchase flights a cost which exceeded the cost of the entire package because Orbitz would not re-book us, especially when they figured out it was going to cost them a lot of money to do so. On my credit card, most of the charges were passed by Orbitz to the airline directly, so I have almost no recourse against Orbitz. DO NOT USE ORBITZ. Go to the airline directly. I learned a big lesson here.

  • I just spent 2 hrs 15 minutes on the phone with a customer rep out of MX City. Nice guy, tried to address my issues. After 2 hours, it turned out that since it was an airline problem, ORBITZ couldn't help me! I told him the problem (flight delay due to equipment issues) first off! So for 2 1/4 hours on the phone I saved $25 on the hotel room! Definitely not worth the time on the phone!

  • Orbitz ruined my family's whole trip!!! what a nightmare!! i booked a package through orbitz with my visa debit card to fly to boston mass from florida, but orbitz failed to tell me that the car rental place did not accept visa debit cards so my family was stuck out in the middle of boston in the middle of the night, (with 2 small children) and had to pay 80 dollars for a taxi just to get to our hotel. and had to pay lots of money for food to be delivered to the hotel and we were stuck in a hotel for 4 days doing nothing because we were unable to rent the car with a debit card. but yet orbitz took that same debit card and charged me for the whole trip. when we called them they said that they were experiencing difficulties with their computers so they could not put in for a refund at that time. later when we called back they said that they disclosed the "no debit card policy" in an e mail that they had sent to us which was a lie because when i went back into my saved mail it said no such thing. i have advised just about everybody i know to never use orbitz to plan a vacation and to pass the word around/

  • Dealing with Orbitz has been a nightmare. I am currently on hold and have been for quite some time.

I canceled my flights a while back and was assured I would get a credit to fly on the airline I chose, which in this case is alaska airlines.

So, since I can't use the credit orbitz wide on any airline, I find a flight on alaska air that will work for a weekend get away.

I originally paid 550 for two tickets

and I am getting a 200 credit and I am still on hold... 45 min

  • Orbits touts "No fees" for airline bookings. But I was charged $13.98 for two domestic flights. It took 25 minutes on hold to get the charge canceled. I should have just booked directly with the airline.

  • *** BEWARE*** Orbitz Customer Service is really bad. Wait until you have a billing issue and see where you get! In my case I was incorrectly billed for a minor as an adult for the vacation package. After numerous hours & days of run-arounds, transfers from Supervisors to Managers to incompetent boneheaded agents. Even my CC company cannot help me. This really sucks for the customer.

My advice to you is to find the package deal you like on their website then call the airline or property directly. Give your money to their competitor, Don't give Orbitz/Cheap Tickets your money. This will give you a piece of mind.

  • I bought tickets online from orbitz on 07/05/09 and did not get the confirmation email with all the info for my reservation. I called customer service and they gave me the run around. I finally got through yesterday and today I received a confirmation in the email only to find that my name is not spelled correctly. Orbitz is the worst site because I have never had this problem with other travel sites. I will never try or use Orbitz again.

  • first off. NEVER USE ORBITZ FOR ANYTHING. I recently booked a trip to costa rice with my debit card. the transaction went through and then without reason four days later I was charged a second time for then entire vacation. this unconsentual charge placed my account balance in the negatives resulting in a pretty bad overdraft fee from my bank. I used my day off from work to correct the matter with orbitz which was like pulling teeth. at first they told they would "look into it and email me within 5 days with their findings". when my money was finnally returned to me, it seemed like they were doing me a favor. after all the frustration and wasted time i still had to pay out $117 in overdraft fees.(thanks you citizens bank) which orbitz claimed was "not our responsibility". I'm absolutly amazed by the level of irresponsibility and disorganization of orbitz. I hate this company. I made it my personal business to never let anyone I know book with them

  • We booked a flight to Cabo through Orbitz 5 months before our vacation. We were 5 family members who took time off of work and made many arrangements getting passports etc to take this trip. On the morning of our trip we get a call from Orbitz confirming our trip and telling us our flights from Vegas to Cabo were all on time and confirmed. They quoted our flight numbers etc. We thought WOW, what a great service. We waited online for 40 minutes to get to a ticket agent at US Air desk in plenty of time to catch our 10AM flight. We get to the desk and the agent told us our flight was changed to the 7AM flight and we were all "No Show". They said they contacted Orbitz weeks before to tell them of the change in time, but Orbitz never notified us. We could not believe what we were hearing. Why didn't someone from US Air call us? He said Orbitz would not give out our phone number or e-mail address. He tried to get us on a flight the next day but everything was booked solid for the entire week. We had to cancel our vacation and it was all because Orbitz called us with the wrong information the morning of our flight. My husband was on the phone with Orbitz for 20 minutes and they would do nothing for us. They offered us a $50 voucher to use Orbitz again and we told them what to do with their $50 and we said we will never use Orbitz again. They didn't even care. I call this very poor customer service and we have told all our friends about our experience.

  • First time using Orbitz, I will NEVER use them again.
High fees and the worst cumstumer service ever. Weird emails from them, unsure if my flight is scheduled properly. Worst of all - they need to learn how to type credit card information in properly which would have saved endless calls back and forth between the mathmematicians at Orbitz and my bank. After talking with C.S. at SAS airlines I've found that this is a common problem. Still not sure if my flight is scheduled properly as of writing this.

  • I am on hold right now. It has been a one hour, three people. My flight was cancelled. Orbitz didn't contact me. Both the airline, Air France, and Orbitz are saying it is the other that can change the booking. That is not resolved. But I can say with no hesitation that Orbitz's customer service is the worst and though I have used them several times in the past, I will never use them again, even if they had a cheaper flight.

    Mortimis 5/17/09 5:06PM

  • I tried to purchase a ticket off their website but got an error at the end of the purchasing process. I called the customer service to purchase the ticket over the phone. The man that helped me was actually very nice and told me that they could waive the extra fee for purchasing over the phone since I was originally trying to buy it online. But, once the man tried to process my order, I was informed that the flight I want didn't seem to be available and they could offer me a different time but couldn't give me the same price. They wanted to charge me $50 extra and I told them I didn't want to do that. The man continued to try and persuade me to buy it but I began to get annoyed and repeatedly told him no. He eventually stopped and after getting off the phone I went to the actual airlines website and got my tickets cheaper.

  • I've read lots of negative things about ORBITZ and they are all true, they don't know what the hell they are doing, they don't update their website and sell packages that are already expire. They will take your money within minutes of the purchase but when it come to refund you must call so many times, I hope all customers do their research before using them, and also make sure you let the BBB know about their business. Please buy your tickets direct from the airlines, do not feed this company.

  • I very recently booked a trip through Orbitz. During the checkout process, a spa package was offered as an add-on ($79). Since the resort chosen has a spa and the offer did not clearly publish the offer apart, I added the offer to the purchase. A few minutes after I selected the offer and completed my transaction, I printed off my itinerary and the spa voucher. Only on the voucher was clarity given. The voucher lists eight resorts, none of which is the resort booked, as redeemable locations. I immediately called customer service to correct the purchase. While the customer service representative did attempt to assist me, the manner in which the situation was handled was inappropriate. The blame was immediately placed on the customer with an attitude unbecoming of the very nature of ‘customer service.’ This booking was my first time using Orbitz. As a frequent traveler, I have never encountered this type of approach to customer service; furthermore, after reviewing Orbitz’s Code of Ethics, I am very surprised, and disappointed, this event occurred. Offering a spa package while a customer is booking at a spa resort seems to be an ill placement of non-related services. The effect of such ill placement is quantified when booking in foreign countries, which often provide limited, hazardous, or costly options for transportation. In addition, the subsequent ill treatment of a customer is inexcusable. After being placed on hold for two extended periods of time, I was instructed to call the next day (December 16) to, hopefully, rectify the situation. While this situation has not been resolved, I wanted to express my utter disappointment in Orbitz’s customer service. This experience has truly affected my opinion of the company and has placed a damper on my celebratory trip.

  • Purchased an airline ticket through Orbitz. Weeks before the flight, I changed my plans and tried to cancel or change the ticket- in some way not loose all my money. Not only was reaching someone at Orbitz a huge pain, but the representative was rude and insisted Orbitz could do absolutely nothing. I was shunted from Orbitz, to United (whose rep actually gave ME a lecture about how awful Orbitz is), to LOT Polish Airlines (who were lovely and helpful) and back to Orbitz, and then kept on hold for 20 mintues. When I finally demanded to speak to someone who would do something, it turned out that "they could help me all along". I eventually changed the ticket, incurring a fee of $150, and wasting about 4 hours of my day.

  • I booked through Orbitz before and all the fees and penalties info is there when you're doing a reservation, sometimes the links are in small letters, but hey, we know how contracts are, when you dont click on the links for that type of info is like singning a contract without reading it. The only thing I didnt understand was a charge for $2 that was never advised to me it was going to be charged to my credit card, so I called them and they explained me it was a pre-authorization charge to check my fundings and that this was going to be refunded, and it was refunded back to my account in around 72 hours. Finally the other thing I hate about reservations is the change fees from the airlines, from $75 to $150 and $250 for some international itineraries, I thought Orbitz was charging this so I called the airline (United) and this is a charge directly from them. My advise to you all: compare prices, penalties, rules from the airline and Orbitz before booking a reservation and you'll notice is pretty much the same, but Orbitz wins in the end because they are able to refund your money if you cancel the reservation within the first 24hrs, well, actually if you cancel it before 10pm central time of the next day, hey, definitely, that's a plus!!

  • We have just had a fantastic experience with Orbitz Customer Service. Our daughter is at university in England and was due to come home for Spring Break on Saturday March 20. We booked her flight on British Airways through Orbitz. The flight was canceled due to the planned strike at British Airways starting on March 20.
The representative at the North Dakota office was great. How helpful she was!! Straightaway she was sympathetic and practical at the same time. While making phone calls to British Airways with long wait times she was examining and discussing all the alternatives with us. She was successful in arranging a new itinerary which will still get our daughter back on March 20.

  • Through Orbitz, I booked reservations for my adult son and 7-year-old grandson with medical problems. No direct flight was available. Initially, layover time was only ONE hour. Several e-mails with schedule changes by the airline arrived, the last with a SEVEN-hour layover. I was forced to cancel the reservation and make other accommodations. I went over the matter from beginning to end with Julianna at Orbitz. She was professional, empathetic and more than kind. It was a pleasure doing business with her! WHAT I LEARNED: Don't make reservations SO far in advance (in this case, 4 months). Too long a time frame almost guarantees flight changes!

"sarah" who was most professional, curteous, and caring. sarah did everything asked of her and went beyond what many others would have done to make me a satisfied customer. i am pleased with the way she handled and resolved this problem. thank you

  • I called that number and simply went through the voice response system rather than pressing the # key. That brought up the reservation I was calling about, and after a short time on hold the agent came on. I was canceling the second day of a two-day reservation, and she called the property directly, took care of it, and then came back on the line to confirm it. No complaints from me ... that was good TLC.

  • Thanks for the phone number! I didn't need to speak to a person but could not enter my account for some reason and had to make a cancellation quickly. The automated phone process was great and quick, not annoying. I had an 8/10 experience, but would not have had you not posted the contact number. You're about 5 of that 8 score.

  • Pressing # 7 times worked great thanks for the tip...

I have not taken my trip yet... so this comment may be premature, but Orbitz was actually very nice about changing my flight. US Airways had moved one of my connecting flights leaving me in the airport for a 6 hour layover. Orbitz called US Airways and moved us to a earlier flight. It was the flight I had wanted to book, but didn't because it was more expensive.

So now I'm getting to my destination 4 hours sooner than I would have on the fight I first booked at no extra charge...

That being said... I don't think I will be using Orbitz again based on the many other scary comments on this page.

  • My family has been using Orbitz for a long time and we love them. we lost a passport the day before an international trip and we were on hold for less then 15 minutes. we've had flights cancelled and they've been great. we love orbitz.

  • I've read lots of negative things about ORBITZ on this site. BUT I MUST PROTEST ... I had a nightmare trip to nowhere from hell, caused by both Northwest Airlines AND Hertz refusing to deliver what I bought, and then refusing to pay.

Yesterday I returned to Chicago from 2 days going nowhere on Northwest airlines (never did get to my destination ... a 3 hour flight, which they would have extended to 4 days of flights for me crisscrossing the continent). I demanded to be finally returned to Chicago, and aborted my vacation. Because of Northwest's horrible service and attitude and no flights, I was unable to use a Hertz car I had reserved and paid in advance for through Orbitz. Both NW and Hertz refused to even listen to my request for refunds.

A call to Orbitz yielded nearly a full refund within about 20 minutes! Or at least a promise of such. No arguments. Orbitz, while I was on the line, called both vendors and got THEIR versions of reality, which apparently agreed with mine, except the airline lied and said they didn't fly because of weather ... instead of actually having bumped me and other passengers for being oversold.

When Orbitz asked them to pay up on refunds and they refused, Orbitz got them off the line and said ORBITZ would refund my money! KUDOS to Orbitz.

Although I had a ruined vacation, Orbitz could not have treated my situation more responsibly.

  • This company is really good!!! I dont know about you people blaming all of your frustrations to one company!! Orbitz is not a perfect company, but you better also think of what you actually did while you are booking your reservation or when "you are not aware" of that policy!!! You must pay attention to all the rules and restrictions for your reservation. All of them is on the website! I have been a customer for orbitz for years. Its just that you stupid people dont know what you are doing when you are online and booking a reservation. READ!! and PAY ATTENTION!!! Dont just be a trigger happy person who will just click buttons and wont admit that they are wrong when they call the customer service line!! How pathethic are you people!!! you should be ashamed of yourself!!
