Register.com is one of the WORST registrars!
Do NOT use them for any of the services, transferring a domain from them is a nightmare, which should be a simple process. I am wondering, how is this company still in business, is any of the authorities looking??

They let our domain names expire and we try to prevent them from auctioning it to namejet. Then we tried to get the domain names back and we're willing to pay whatever but just got the runaround.

Just deplorable service. Unable to move my domain out as they refuse to provide an auth code. I must call them M - F 9am to 5pm and wait on hold for a minimum of 40 minutes. The last time I tried and actually got through, they told me their systems were down and they'd call back. They never did. I reported them to ICANN for unprofessional practices.

Register.com has unethical business practices. They are holding my domain name hostage, trying to make me re-register with them. I don't want your services. You scammed me the first year. Now, I want to take my domain somewhere else and they have blocked it. They keep giving me the run around, leaving me on hold for 20 minutes, 45 minutes, etc.

Terrible customer service, they would rather lose a client than give reasonable options for downgrading your email account.
I was not allowed to be transfered to a supervisor.

They suck. 40 mins to talk to someone.

Try to obtain a tranfer code now for over five days. Just standard e mail replies that tell you your question has been assigned to the appropriate dept. They are absolutely clueless when it comes to customer service. I dont even dare to try to call them. Living overseas as I do the phonebill would be more expensive than flying out to go there personally. BY ALL MEANS, STAY AWAY FROM REGISTER.COM!

I have been trying to cancel my hosting service with Register.com since July. They continue to bill me. Their build your site yourself software has been down EVERY TIME I try to build my website.
Horrible business!! Customer service always has an excuse why I can't be helped.
This is a crooked business. NO customer help.
Long wait times, etc. Unbelievable "customer service."

REGISTER.COM'S SUPPORT IS THE WORST I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE FIRST PERSON THAT ANSWERED THE PHONE TOLD ME THAT THE WAIT TIME IS APPROXIMATELY 45 MINUTES. WHAT??? WELL IT WAS 55 MINUTES (THANK GOD FOR SPEAKER PHONES)
THIS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONCE. GOOD GOD.
I WOULD LOSE ALL MY CUSTOMERS IF WE WERE LIKE THEM.

Completely unhappy. The charge to forward your email, or it's free with a register.com banner. Unacceptable. Instructions on setting up email are incomplete -- verizon phones are different, apparently, so you MUST call in for the proper settings. Call wait time is TOO long. Everytime they get you on the phone they try to sell you something. I wish I had found this board before and saved myself the headache.

They lie and tell you anything just to get your money. They also falsely advertise an unrealistically low price for a domain name which only points directly back to them, and you can't get it to redirect to your own site. This is crooked business!

On 08/11/2011(11August2011) i made a online transaction of $93.95 to register.com for purchasing a Domain(www.crapomedia.com). But later i thought it was too expensive and asked you peoples to cancel the order, before activating it. They told that we have canceled the order, but I had checked with my bank, the amount has not credited back to my Account till today.

Register.com was once a decent company to do business with, back in the days when InterNic could charge pretty much what they wanted to register a domain. Now, they seem to be dishonest, conniving thieves, and transferring away from them is made unreasonably difficult by their website and lack of customer service. If they put as much effort into improving their service as they seem to be putting into squeezing their customers, they would still have my business. Avoid this company.

I have been calling Register.com for some time and have gotten no help at all.

Yesterday there was a 40 minute wait to speak to someone! I left a message for a return technical assistance call and waited all night and all day today for my call to be returned.

I also sent email to you late yesterday explaining the problem, and have not gotten a response from you either.

Currently I am on hold to speak with someone in technical support and have been told there is a 30 minute wait!

How can I operate a business if I'm spending 30-40 minutes tying up my business phone line?

Have I made a big mistake switching to register.com? Service at my previous provider, alpine web was far superior to this!

I registered 3 domains a long time ago with Register.com and didn't do much besides manage the A record for IP forwarding. 3 other domains are registered with a different provider.

Today I tried to set up email forwarding on the Register.com domains. This is trivial to do with my other provider. I could find no way to do it on Register.com. I called Tech Support and was told the wait was 45 minutes.

I started a chat session. The first time I was simply disconnected. The second attempt connected me to someone but they didn't get any of my input statements and questions. It was as though I was not typing anything even though it showed on the chat screen. Then I got disconnected.

I am moving all three domains to a vendor which has decent support and the basic features needed to manage a domain name.

As far as I'm concerned, Register.com is useless. I'm very disappointed.

I am trying (desperately) to transfer my domains because Register.com's prices are ridiculously expensive. First, they make you wait days for an authorization code. Then they send an email saying for "security reasons" they have declines the request and therefore you have to call them. Then you wait AGES on the phone to talk to someone. Do yourself a favor - go elsewhere to start with so you do not have to deal with them.

This company is impossible to work with. Once you sign up for an account they remove any functionality that would allow you to change billing features or ownership.

Register.com have informed me that my email I set up with them does not work in Internet explorer and now google chrome

My email was already slow, sometimes could not be reached and now this.

I will be cancelling my email and website as I have had nothing but trouble

"Your request for an Auth Code has been received and your information will be validated for security reasons. If your request is approved, you will receive your Auth Code by email in 4-5 days."

Validated for security reasons? What the hell are the validating? You have to log in to your account in order to request the AUTH code.

What, are they making sure you used the correct password to log in. What a piece of garbage. This is worse than AOL

Due to an inactive email address, I did not receive renewal notice. As soon as my domain expired I realized the issue. Went to renew the domain the same day it expired and they charged $30 to reinstate the domain, on top of the already ridiculous $35/yr registration. I called customer service and they refused to waive the reinstatement fee. I said I was going to transfer to GoDaddy and the rep told me GoDaddy charges $80 to reinstate (untrue).

Now in the transfer process, my request for an Auth Code "if approved" will be emailed in 4-5 days. What a piece of garbage company.

So, after i paid to host my business blog for couple more years - SUDDENLY i am having register.com tech team disabling my website, without notification twice in month, b/c i "exceed traffic" whereas i used 20G out of 500G according to CPanel. And not even letting me to back up site or anything b/c they just switched off all the file access.

Partial refund for 1.5 remaing year after i switched hosting? Fat bloody chance.

A few months ago, I moved my domain from Register.com to Intuit, primarily to take advantage of the great site-building tool available with Intuit. Much to my surprise, Register.com continued to bill me for the cancelled service. I let it go a couple of billing cycles, thinking they'd get around to updating their customer records, but they continued to charge my credit card. Today, I spoke with "Bradley" in their customer service center, who informed me I would be entitled to a refund of only one month's fee. Why? Because that's their policy. It was their mistake, but I'm entitled to only one month's refund! When I finish this post, I'm registering a complaint with the New York, New York Better Business Bureau. Please do your friends a favor and tell them to avoid Register.com at all costs. (Intuit is a far better product!) Mike

Register.com are actively "pushing" and selling actively held and "grace period" domain.names for resale to financially affiliated domain name marketing entities. This company is a rip off organization not to be trusted.
