Was just at Duane Reade on on 57th and 3rd. The pharmacist, Shareem Bashey, was extremely rude to this poor woman. The woman kindly approached her at the counter and said in a sweet voice "Excuse Me" to get her attention to ask her a question. Shareem didn't even acknowledge her in the least bit. So the woman said kindly "excuse me. Can you just let me know where I can find the *whatever it was she was looking for*"
Shareem then snapped back at her so rudely and said "I am busy. I am trying to count pills here." and continued to ignore her. Your pharmacist's response to the polite woman was so unprofessional and uncalled for. I was actually mortified for the poor woman. I decided to take the pharmacist's name down and file a complaint.
No professional should EVER treat a customer like that. I will also be reporting her to corporate. I'm fed up with rude customer service. Shareem needs to get off of her pill counting high horse and learn how to be a professional employee.

Just went to the 42nd and Lexington Store. Clerk made me wait while she stocked shelves. When I checked out she gave me 10 ones. I had been shopping at CVS but had started buying here because I use the escalator. Back to CVS!

Duane Reade store on Forest Ave on Staten Island. Pharmacist is rude and has a lack of professionalism. Refused to transfer a prescription from her site to a competitor. Stated she was trying to teach the other pharmacist a lesson. Really????!!!! At my expense???!!!

Serious lack of customer service at Store #14208 2025 Broadway. On 6/29 at 9:33pm I purchased 1 GL green tea and other items 2 1LT Cherry sparkling water bottles and other items that exceeded the ability for 1 bag to hold. The cashier should have given me 2 separate bags but didn't. While walking home the bag broke and the ice tea cracked and spilled over in the middle of crossing the street. I went back to the store, showed my receipt and the broken bag with the broken ice tea bottle. The duane reade worker was extremely rude. Then told me to wait upstairs while he speaks to the manager. I wait and wait. I speak to the cashier and she remembers bagging incorrectly and asked me to go downstairs and get another ice tea - knowing it was her fault. I go downstairs and see the worker I originally spoke to in the back doing nothing. I asked if he spoke to the manager as I was waiting upstairs for him to return. He pointed to the manager who was sitting behind a register unoccupied. I explained the situation. The rude worker interrupted and said the bag broke it was my fault. I reminded him that I was a customer - not an employee. That bagging properly was the responsibility of people that worked at the store. The manager said that I was not entitled to a replacement ice tea. I was not given my money back. I will never go back to this store. I usually go to the store on 71st and Amsterdam. They bag properly and are always courteous - never rude. Had I gone to that store I would not have had a problem to begin with. This is the worst Duane Reade in this neighborhood. I'll be sure to blog and let people know not to go there. No customer service, very unprofessional. The only person with customer service skills was the cashier. She admitted her mistake and was courteous when she addressed me. She tried to correct it but the manager was ill equipped to resolve problems. She should be the manager and he should be fired. I'll see about contacting the better business bureau as well.

I would like to complaining for Store Manager Alexander from store located at the 31st opposite Macys, he was unprofessional as two times stepping into that store, and he wasn't able to make Credit card from my Debit card, my card can't swipe, and I am regular Dune Reade customer, everyday I shop grocery more than Two times. And instead to learn how to assist customers instead with Oh. Store policy we can't type number, but other store Port Authority they do, so how is different from the other, they should bring all same level of service. I think he needs to be changed, if he has no good manners to deal with customers, he needs to do stock as he is best of doing it, while the lady assisted.. Again I work Sales and I am regular customer who I buy 8-yes and I never return. Shame some associates also Manager they are not skilled how to type credit card..My card is Debit, and I have money to pay, just doesn't swipe to few places such as your store, and My Bank they said you do have Scams on the registers. Can you plase keep this in consideration, not fare for me a Loyalty regular customer to be treated like Homeless.. Thank you

Came into the store I belive was on Monday. It was around the evening time at 401 park ave south ny, ny 10016. Picked up a few things and headed to check out. there was two cashiers in front one girl and a guy. The guys walk off and leave the girl at the front while the line started to get long. She called for help but no one came she started to get frustrated and couldnt understand why she was the only one working. she tried her best to get people out fast. I seened about 4 employees there and also couldnt understand why no one came to help. I felt bad for her I guess this is how Duane Reade treat they employees hope she find something better.

I would like to complain about one of your cashiers, Sabita who was very rude to me this morning at 7:56am. I bought only one bag of potato chips at 535 5th Ave New York, NY 10017. She yelled at me because her machine was slow. She cursed me out repeatedly and said that I was using my phone which is not true. She said "Give me your money now, I don't have time to waste" I was holding my phone but I was not talking on the phone. She acted like a mad woman. I told her that it's not the right way to speak to a customer and she said that she doesn't care. What a shame that your one of your cashiers is treating your customers like dirt. I should be the one to complain about the slow machine because I was almost late to work which is one block away but I didn't do that. I do not appreciate being yelled at or being cursed out by a cashier for no reason. Hopefully my complaint will help you improve customer service at Duane Reade because Sabita's behavior was really unacceptable.

Today in NYC at the Duane Reade on 44th street and 8th ave, I saw a uniformed NYPD police officer walk in and ask if they had a bathroom. The reply the officer received was, "Yes, we have a bathroom but it is NOT for you."
Is this Duane Reade Policy? This is disgraceful! Even shameful!!

Good morning reader, hope all is well? This past Saturday I had one of the most amazing experiences while shopping at DuaneReade. The location was in Manhattan at the corner of 14th street and 3rd avenue, Manager BA and his team of associates were very willing and pleased to assist me, I felt like a celebrity mind you my purchase was that only of an underarm deodorant. Lol. Anyway, thank you guys, keep up the great work. :)

Why is the NYC store at 57tg and Third Ave so consistently poorly managed? With deceptive pricing, poor management, long lines - etc

Posted by berespectful

Hi,
I am a regular shopper at the Duane Reade located on Smith Street and Fulton. I have been blatantly followed around the store. I am a hard-working customer I don't deserve this type of treatment. That's poor customer service, I can understand asking someone if they need assistance but don't treat customers like thieves. I felt very hurt by the treatment I received at that Duane Reade. The dark skin black male guard with short cornrows was not even discreet in singling me out to an LP. I am very disappointed in the treatment I received these past 2 trips to the Duane Reade. I am all for people doing their jobs but be respectful to customers.

Last night I was shopping in my local Duane reade on 3rd Ave between 93-94 around 915 pm an announcement was heard about an alert an aisle on the far end of the store. The employees casually walked over as 2 men passed them when the 2 men exited the store 3 people told the people at the desk that those men just cleaned out the aisle with the Claritin. I myself have seen theft from this store on several occasions. But what's worse is when we exited the store the 2 thieves were just hanging out chatting on the corner knowing full well none of your employees would Persue them. I can't say I blame the employees who don't want to risk their lives for some Claritin . I suggest you get a security guard for this location as it feels scary and unsafe to shop in your store in the evening. By the way there was a murder less than a block away on 3rd Ave between 94-95st just 4 hours after this theft. Also as a business you may just write off chronic theft but as a consumer I know you just raise the cost and pass it along to us. I will be shopping at businesses that take security of its employees and customers more seriously until you address this issue!

This is to let you know that I will NEVER shop in one of your D.R. or Walgreen stores again.
I went into your store #161 today to pick up a few things. When I got to the counter to check out I also asked for a pack of Marlboro Cigarettes. I gave the cashier a $2.00 off coupon and was told you don't accept it. I've been in this store many times, sometimes with a coupon with no problem but I guess you think you can treat people badly with no repercussions. I know smoking is not thought about like it was but I was having a bad day and you made it worse. I've lived here for 37 years and not I will not deal with people who try to control the way I live. When anyone walks up to check out of your store, all they see is a wall of cigarettes. I guess, like many people have done with CVS I'll shop someplace else. I noticed in your service review opening you asked not to use profanity. I am not the type of person that would but I guess you get a lot of it, I can understand why!!!

Just visited my local Duane Reade on 86Th Street in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Usually a very nice store with helpful courteous employees. Unfortunately not this morning. There were No employees at any cash registers, had to walk all over the store to find a employee, who was loading merchandise into stock room. I asked for help and she said " no one is at register" . I was ready to leave my $ for my purchase at the front registerwhenanothwr employee asked me to come to the middle of the store. She was rude, I acknowledged she was busy and apologized for my hurry. The item I wanted didn't ring up as on sale, I walked her to the item on the shelf - she said it wasn't the one I had. I purchased the same item last night at the sale price and told her. She just looked at me - no help- she even chuckled to herself- I said I couldn't believe how long it took to purchase something and to forget it. The employee laughed and told me to have a nice day I told her to go herself! If you can't hire decent help... Don't stay open 24 hours a day!

At 3:15 AM CST this morning in front of the Walgreens store located next door to the MillerCoors building across from the Willis Tower and Bank of America building in downtown Chicago, Illinois, USA, I had the displeasure of running into a potentially homicidal Hispanic SECURITY guard pretending to work inside of the 250 S. Wacker Drive building which is where the Walgreens is located; location of the early morning incident on the street. I am homeless and simply attempted to rest my feet for a few moments and had sat in front of that Walgreens building. A few minutes after sitting, a seemingly Hispanic in appearance male, completely shaved bald head, about 5'7" in height slightly portly in appearance, sucking on his teeth really loud (teeth/saliva squeaking sound) attempting to intimidate me to walk away, wearing a white collared uniform shirt & long dark navy blue SECURITY jacket (SECURITY was written on back of coat he wore), he threatened me in a subtle way as to make me think that he was about to attempt to start a fist fight with me if I did not leave right then and there. He said nothing to me, other than motioning to me with the loud sounds he made sucking on his teeth resulting in a loud squeaking sound as though he's warning me that he's a cannibal. I got upset at the manner in which he chose to exercise his supposed job duties as a supposed SECURITY guard, and called him out for looking like a gay homosexual Mr. Clean trying to intimidate a homeless woman whom rested her own feet for a few minutes. I was not attempting to loiter nor cause a disturbance; simply taking a rest for a few minutes because I walked around the downtown area in the bitter cold temperatures all night as a transient visiting Chicago. I called him a defamatory word for queers, called him out for looking like a gay prostitute, and told him to go back to his own country: Brooklyn, NYC. That person is a COP that wore a stolen SECURITY jacket that I recognized another person had worn that works at the tower building at LGA airport in Flushing, Queens, NYC, New York. Very bizarre that on the same time frame as I visit Chicago, I happen to run into another New Yorker that is ALSO visiting Chicago that attempted to start a fist fight with me/intimidate me? All he had to do is tell me that I could not sit there and that I needed to sit somewhere else. That uniformed SECURITY guard, bald headed, seemingly male person did not need to practice his SCARE TACTICS in order to get me to get up and move my seat. I found that extremely bothersome in addition to his attempt to make me think that he was going to beat me up if I didn't walk away. I am a victim of numerous, very violent HAZING incidents because I was at the wrong place at the wrong time or had made the mistake of being friends with the wrong sorts of characters, which resulted in my permanent injuries, including my inability to maintain appropriate housing, which is the reason I walked about downtown all night/early morning in the bitter cold temperatures. Simply bringing that to the attention of Walgreens Corporate that they have a lunatic working as a SECURITY guard at the 250 S. Wacker Drive building, which is where that Walgreens is located. I am not from this area. I'm simply visiting. However, the impression I get is that most of those lunatics in downtown Chicago are BULLYS and/or Thugs from NYC purposely damaging the streets/buildings structural in order to cause a decrease in the demand for rental amounts for small apartments designated for Caucasians that are from poor States. I noticed it last night while walking all over downtown Chicago, especially the decent areas near Chicago Union Station going towards Wacker and beyond. They're purposely damaging the downtown streets/buildings structurally in order to drive down the monthly rental amounts. January 29, 2016 Friday. **I WAS HIT WITH A BASEBALL BAT BEFORE, there.**

We - myself and my husband - visited today the Duane Reade upper west side store on Broadway . The very first time, after two weeks in NYC, a store did not accept our international Master card. An hour later, no such problem at a competitor's store, Rite Aid.

We want to know, if Duane Reade is hostile towards tourist? We visit New York yearly from Finland and have had no problems with any other Manhattan store.

Sincerely,

Eila Kaarresalo-Kasari and Heikki Kasari

Complaint about cashier at 253 W 72nd St Nyc ny 10023
On Sunday Dec 27th at 1:05 pm I entered the store to buy cat litter. I picked up 2 7 lb Fresh Step plastic containers. I went on line . When I came to the cashier I asked her not to give me any bags or a receipt- she told me no I can take the receipt and throw it in the garbage to which I replied " No why don't you throe it in the garbage - mind you I 'm carrying the 2 jugs of 7 lb cat liter out of the store. She came back again giving me directions etc to the nearest garbage etc etc. I interact with people all the time in y business so I know how it can be but REALLY ??? Plus there's got to be at least 6 chain drugstores in the area. Customer service goes a long way.

Duane Reade - 13602 Roosevelt Ave, Flushing, NY

This store is always in shambles whenever I go there. It is not maintained well. The customer service is some of the worst I have experienced. I even get no help and attitude when there are no baskets for me to shop and I ask for a basket. The shopping baskets are being used to store merchandise by the way. If you ask for help finding an item, forget it, you are in for a rough time. And so many prices are mislabeled, that I always have to argue about price at the counter, and the clerks are too lazy to go check the price tags when I tell them it was labeled at a different price than what they are ringing me up. If they do, they are rude, take forever, and make me wait forever. They never end up honoring the labeled price, even though its their mistake. SO MANY ITEMS ARE PRICED INCORRECTLY. The customer service at this store is just appalling, I only go here as a last resort at night, or on my way home from the subway, if i really need to.

Several Dairy products were room temperature, not cold at all, and were spoiled because of this, including yogurt, butter, cream cheese, and cheeses. Some of the dairy items were visibly spoiled due to inappropriate temperature, including yogurt containers that were expanding with gas. I spoke with the manager, but I was told that they did not agree with my concerns and nothing would be done about it. They did throw out the bad yogurt but they refused to acknowledge a problem and refused to lower the temperature in the dairy case, which is room temperature. The clerk raised her voice at me and rolled her eyes. What about items that don't expand with gas? You won't know they are spoiled until you get home. Spoiled dairy items are dangerous, people can get food poisoning. The food quality overall is terrible. And the attitude of the manager is just unbelievable.

Hello!! Pharmacy manager JESSICA MAKO on 57 st Manhattan is very bad specialist!!!!! He said that he knew nothing was not behaving professionally. She was talking rudely to customers, refusing to listen. She was not polite. Such specialists are destroying the company s sales.

I am furious and appalled at how RUDE a cashier was to me. A cashier

at the Duane Reade on 46 and Vanderbilt at New York (around 3.47pm EST

on 10/23/2015 at the end leftside register near the Park Avenue

entrance) was extremely rude to me. I came up to her and asked her if

she was open, she was counting money and completely IGNORED me, I

asked again and she ignored me, it was a good minute or so. Then she

called out next customer, and I went up and said I thought you

weren't open because you didn't answer me. I was nice and respectful

when I asked her if she was open. A simple YES or NO would suffice,

not ignoring me counting money in front of me and ignoring me and

then she continued being absolutely rude to me, basically talking

back to me. It was extremely rude and embarrassing I work nearby this

place for 3 years and come in and out of Duane Reade pretty often

every week and never had a problem at ALL until today- 3 years and no

problems. Extremely dissatisfied and utterly shocked at her behavior.

I couldn't even get her name because her name tag was turned over.

Why have you changed the pharmacy hours at your store 95 Wall Street?
This is an excellent pharmacy staffed with pleasant people who know who I am
and I know them. Weekends are the best time for me to use the pharmacy......weekdays
are for emergency.
Why are you now so short staffed at 95 Wall Street? The manager is all over the
store, filling shelves, answering questions, being cashier at the pharmacy? The
store seems to have gotten rid of many employees.
This is a nice small well run store that your management is rapidly downsizing and
causing inconvenience to both customers and staff who are working "double time."
Second why today are you asking for my complete telephone number even when I am
paying cash for non pharmaceuticial items? My phone number is none of your business.
At the pharmacy I can understand the ID of a customer phone number, But my
complete telephone number at the general cash point.
Duane Reade you are punishing your customers rather than help. CVS or Downtown
Pharmacy here I come.
You state "confidential"..........you must be kidding.
My business is NOT your business.

I got sick at work. Diabetes, on my way home I made may daily visit to Dwayne Reade to get my snacks to control the sugar rush my body needed . however because of my uncomfortable sugar, I needed to use the bathroom. They denied me. I go to the same store everyday so most of the associates recognize me. To say No More Dwayne Reade is and under statement. Not only will I not shop there or Walgreens, but I will tell this story as often as I can, wherever I can.it is a drugstore, people get sick. The least that they can do is try to accommodate customers specially loyal repeat customers. The hell with them. So long, good bye ass holes. A

Had four our five mistakes made between my Duane Reade store and mail order prescription manager, with each giving me conflicting info at several points. Finally cleared things up at the store, after almost 2 hours of store and phone customer service issues. Was so upset that I called Duane Reade customer service to complain. They took only the most sketchy info but didn't want the details. They told me that senior management will examine the problem they didn't want details about and that they would call me back at the phone number they never asked for. I'm not optimistic that they will use my problems to make things better for other customers.
